surprised

i have only had the HDVT for a little over a year - and i do NOT watch that much TV. Yet - i see a line (red) running through my TV - totally unacceptable for more than $2,000 spent - when my prior LCD lasted 5 years (and I bought the FLOOR MODEL), and my OLD Zenith TV - old school - had beautiful picture for 10 years. disappointed. My brother's HDTV looked just fine - wish I had read more reviews first - but had heard very good news...

Not worth .02$ waste!

I own one and every single Panasonic PT-50LC13 has a defective ballast that overpowers the bulbs. We received 1500$ for warranty to buy new flatscreen luckily, but it was originally 3,000$. I've replaced the bulbs with 4-5 oem new panasonic bulbs and even tried generic ones, but they always die very quickly especially when kids or guests switch the T.V. on and off before the 45 min cool down period! So don't buy from anyone who is trying to sell you this load of junk.

Easily the Worst TV Ever!

Bought this in 2003. Within the first year, blew a bulb and required a new optical engine. (The optical engine is the heart if the TV-set and will cost about $2k+). After that it was a new bulb every 9 mo.+, at $300 a lamp. Thank God for the extended service contract!

Finally, in 2007 the ballast went out. After two mo.+ no ballast repair/replacement available. Ultimately, and after some haggling, the extended service contract basically refunded the initial purchase price for the TV.

I have moved on since. Lesson learned: never another Panasonic TV in my living room...

P.S.: Without an extended warranty on a, at that time, $4k purchase, I'd be severly "unhappy". Thank God, the extended warranty came thru all the way!

Wonderful TV for 5 years

Contrary to what some of the others have said in this forum, I've had this tv for 5 years and never (thats right) had any problems with it. I've moved it 3 times and never have I had an issue. The HDTV looks amazing, The gaming looks unreal. The response time is lightning fast. I love this tv and plan on keeping it for years to come. I still use it in the increasingly fast tv market. after 5 years the only thing I wish it had was a HDMI hook up. The DVI, however looks just about as good. Great TV.

Like any forum, only the dissatisfied customers usually write reviews. I'm here to voice the other side...for all the happy customers that will not review.

Extra Simple Installation

After some 4+ years the LCD bulb in my Panasonic 50" LCD HDTV finally blew out. Some places sell just the LCD bulb that you have to mount into the old housing. This unit includes the housing and all so you never touch the bulb or dick around with wires and soldering. I think the old was out and this one was in in less than 3 minutes. Very easy! Actually resetting the TV's timer and hour count was more complex than changing the bulb.
This one worked Great for me and I am very glad I spent the extra couple bucks to get the new housing too.

Very Easy to Install

This was very easy to replace even though my manual said to take the TV to a dealer. No, I'm too cheap to do that! The front panel just pops off, then remove the left panel covering the light with a phillips, then remove the lamp box with a phillips. Slide out the burnt lamp box, slide in the new, simple, simple, simple. The instructions tell you to reset the hours on the light using the remote and volume control, but that is not necessary, although I did it anyway.

A little missing info, but good customer service

The lamp is as advertised: It is only the lamp and not the housing. I feel they should include the directions for how to remove the old lamp from the housing, or at least say that it is a somewhat delicate job. However, the vendor patiently gave me step by step help over the phone which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 2.

Nice Custom Stand, but Interior Space is Lacking

1/31/04 I purchased this stand in December, 2003, with my new Panasonic 50 inch LCD. Appearance and Assembly are 5. Functionality 3 and Value 4. The stand is very well packed and the box is easy to open. In fact, my stand was fully assembled, with the exception of the center shelf. I purchased the stand for $300 (Actually, not a bad price for a custom stand, but I downgraded one point, since the stand functionality is only a 3). This set up works well in the center of a wall or in a corner of my room. The stand easily glides over a carpet, with the LCD TV intact. Also, the height of the TV on this stand is in the optimal position for viewing, from any sitting position in my room.

I like this optional custom stand, but the space for components is lacking. Stand drawback is the limited interior width of 29 inches and limited depth - my amp with all cables just fits within the depth and I can only fit my narrow cable box next to my 17 inch wide amp on the base shelf. My DVD player easily fits on the upper shelf, with room for the cable box on top if desired, but, there is not room for my large center speaker. There is plenty of room for heat release for my three components. If you need this stand for three components and a center speaker, measure carefully before purchase.

The TV is a perfect fit on the stand and is secured on stand pins and 2 rear clamps. The shelf is held in place with pin/set screws. Make sure that you place the shelf in correctly - - one end is rounded to match the front semi circle appearance -- The shelf placement can easily be put in backwards. If you do this, and tighten the set screws, there will be the screw imprint in the poly/heavy gauge plastic shelf.

The front and back of the stand is open. Cable/Wire placement is not a problem. The rear support of the stand has holes in place for cable transfer, but I prefer to run from the bottom shelf area and keep out of sight.

Recommended Purchase if you do not need extra space for more than three components, with a hearty center speaker. The custom appearance and secure attachment of the TV on this stand were my decisive factors. Enjoy. j.

Perfect fit

The stand perfectly fits my Panasonic PT-50LC13. The TV and the stand look like one unit and it is hard to tell where one ends and the other one begins. I wouldn't recommend any other stand with the PT-50LC13.

Questions & Answers Powered by Yahoo! Answers
Question : how do i mount my panasonic tv to the wall
i just purchased a 42" plasma panasonic vieja TV and i have no idea how to attach the bracket, that came with the stand, to the back of the TV.sorry, i mean viera

Answer:
its usually just a few screws. I think you have to mount the brace to the wall then the t.v. to the brace

Question : How can I secretly disable my Panasonic tv without seriously damaging it
I need to secretly disable my panasonic tv as my son is becoming too addicted to video games and needs to take a break. He is 17 and only listens to his father who is not concerned, but my son is actually getting fat and irritable and ignoring his friends.

Answer:
1. Take away the controls and hide them. 2. Flip the breaker where the game is plugged in and leave it off. 3. Be the parent-I am 16 and I love my video games, but if my mom told me to get off, then I would.
