a jewel in the rough

what an amazing (32" lcd tv with/ full hd 1080p by favi, l3226ea-bl). i was pleasently surprised at the picture and price. this is my third lcd tv so i think i can be a critic sort of. i paid about 1/3 of what i would have if it was some other brand name. in summation it was the best ($390) i ever spent. the picture is just fabulous. i've also preordered their (42in.) lcd tv which will be out in (september). keep up the good work (FAVI).

FAVI L3226EA-BL Review

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RLVY2YCJWQCFO FAVI L3226EA-BL Review:

This TV came to us directly from FAVI in an ordinary cardboard box. While unpacking we found a small black velvet bag that contained the TV's accessories. This was a nice touch. The TV's design is sleek, yet rather conservative at the same time. The finish is a smooth to the touch, jet black. The corners are rounded, giving it that sleek appearance. The FAVI logo is prominently displayed just under the screen. Below the logo is the indicator LED, and the remote sensor. The speaker grilles are hidden on the bottom.
The next thing that caught our eye was the number of inputs on the back of this TV. It comes with three HDMI ports as well as many others. The VGA port allows this TV to become a giant wide screen computer monitor with built in speakers. To our disappointment, there are no inputs on the front or side.

RATINGS:

-USER MANUAL: 8/10. The manual did a fairly good job in explaining everything this TV is capable of.

-DISPLAY: 10/10. The picture quality is best we've tested in 32 inch 1080p class. Testing was completed in both standard definition and high definition. A Blu-Ray disc was used in our video demonstration.

-REMOTE: 7/10. No indicator LED was disappointing. Other than that it's just a standard remote control. A universal remote can be programmed to work with this TV. A code was found in less than a minute with our remote's auto search function.

-SOUND: 7/10. The built in speakers are good but not outstanding.

-TV MODE: 9/10. Standard definition and high definition video look good. The TV changes channels quickly enough for channel surfing.

-INPUTS: 7/10. There's only one S-video port, and while this TV does have three HDMI ports, they're spaced a bit too close together. You can hook up three HDMI cables at once, but it's a tight fit. There are no inputs on the front of this TV.

-VALUE: 9/10. Lowest priced 32 inch/1080p model we tested.

-OVERALL: 9/10. Highly Recommend

Best you can get for the price

Since this TV only has 2 reviews, I decided to write my own.

PROS:

-1080p looks great - I'm using this for my Xbox 360 and my games look amazing. Blacks are black and the colors are good.
-No stuck or bright pixels, but one half-broken pixel(does not display red) This took me a week to even notice and I really had to look closely
-Plenty of connections in the back
-Low price - the next cheapest 32" 1080p is at least 40 bucks more, and a brand-name one will set you back at least 250 more.
-Shiny (could be a con for some people that touch their tv alot)
-Comes with an accessory bag (For the power cable and remote, haha)
-Built in speakers are pretty good for a LCD.
-Accepts 1080p over component
-Power LED is dim and green, off is dim red. I hate those bright blue ones - they're annoying, especially at night.

CONS:

-Menu is too simple - Theres only the basic calibrations for this tv (brightness, contrast, color) and no fancy settings. This is the biggest con for me.
-Remote is a little cheap - but that doesn't matter, right?
-Infrared sensor on the tv kind of sucks. Have to point the remote directly at the tv without any sort of obstructions.
-No video cables included - Not sure if other TV's come with at least composite, but go do yourself a favor and get a $5 HDMI or component cable if you don't have one already.
-You might have to squeeze if you have 3 HDMI cables plugged in - they're a bit close.

OTHER:

I'm not able to comment on the channel surfing on this set as I use a cable box to watch TV. However, it does state that there are ATSC and QAM tuners built in. Also this is my first real HDTV (other than a computer monitor) so I can't comment on common problems and if they are in this set or not. They included some sort of accessory bag, but it only had the remote, the power cable, and some sort of plastic cover that I don't know what it goes to (possibly if you take the stand off to mount it?). For the price you pay, you can't get any better. If you're looking for a 32" 1080p, don't care about the brand, and have money constraints, this is the tv to get. If you're looking for a brand name tv or one with all sorts of image calibrations and settings, you should look elsewhere.

Bad Choice

Bought the 32' WHITE tv .It arrived promptly. Picture is disappointing. Iemailed for support
and was told you must have an antenna problem. Support is not being helpful inspite of several e mails for help.I feel like I wasted $500.I cannot recommend this product or company. I should have stuck with the name brands !!

DVD Player failed

I would have given this TV 4 stars until a few days ago, when the DVD player failed, 10 months after purchase. Sharp will pay for replacement parts but I will have to pay for labor -- basically a blank check. It is really rare to find an electronic product nowadays that fails so quickly, and consumer magazines always say to reject extended warranties. I thought I could rely on that famous Japanese quality but now that everything is made in China, I guess not. I think all-in-ones are great space savers and clutter avoiders, but if you get one you sort of have to live in fear of taking the entire thing in for one component failure, and that is what has now happened.

I agree with everyone who said the delay between switching channels is annoying. Also, sometimes when switching channels the TV goes completely black, and I have to turn it off and turn it on again. These are not HUGE problems but over time they do make the TV less fun to have around.

First time owning HDTV. sound and picture are great!

it was very to set-up and now we receive about three times the amount of channels. watching shows in HD is so much nicer and watching letterboxed films on dvd looks fantastic. we managed to purchase this tv right when it was discontinued for half-off. it was a total bargain and we're very happy with it.

Well built, great picture and solid DVD player

There have been some reviews that stated the Audio is poor. I do not agree and wonder if they realized the continued scroll down choices for enhanced audio selections. Another negative that I read was that some have stated the DVD player doesn't play certain discs. This too is not the case, the DVD player played +R +RW as well as -R and -RW discs. The remote is user friendly and offers all features needed. The only minor disappointment was there is no last channel viewed button. Granted there is a slight pause between channel up or down but that is due to the tuner having to switch from analog and digital stations. AS of February of 2009, re-program your stations to be all digital and the delay will improve.
Lastly, the picture. This HDTV (with Over the Air reception) performed and looked great. The blacks are black and quality is superb. A great price, and good investment for that den, bedroom, office. This HDTV does not offer computer connection.

Just OK

This is an OK TV. The picture is good. However the sound quality is terrible especially if you are watching a movie. And I hate it that there is no last button on the remote control to switch back and forth between channels, so annoying. It's a pretty thick TV so doesn't look very nice on the wall. Overall just an average TV.

Answer:
Well the RAM is decent, but the processor is too slow. It will run okay... but for better performance get a faster processor. The video card is somewhat average. I would go with the faster CPU. Add another 500mhz
