Best TV ever

Great picture. Excellent white glove delivery. It was so good that I bought a 2nd one exactly like it for our 2nd bedroom.

Side by Side vs Aquos 1080P and Regza Won!!!

My husband does the research and was going top buy a 37" Sharp Aquos 1080P until he and I compared the two pictures with the same input (even alternated the connectors) and the Toshiba beat it every time for sharpness (no pun intended), color, clarity and the capture and display of movement, (pucks, etc during a game that was also viewed during the demo).

It was only a little bit less than the Sharp Aquos and 1080P seemed the better investment prior to the side by side comparison where the Regza never had any fuzziness and the Aquos did.
After to approximately two years, we have never had a problem and our Toshiba Regza picture is still as clear and sharp as when we brought it home. There are several Toshiba TVs out there and I can only speak to the Regza models which I am of the impression have a superior engine to their other Toshiba models.

Would we buy another one again, darn straight we would.

A bargain - Great with HD signal, only so-so with non-HD

I bought this TV back in Dec. 2007 as a gift for my older parents. They've used it daily ever since.

Before purchasing this model I found a professional review that stated that the HD quality was more than acceptable for this model (keep in mind it's 720p), but that non-HD digital and analog signals were some of the worst you'll find in this price range. I know, you buy a TV like this for watching HD. Problem is, you don't always receive HD.

Before I bought my parents an upcoverting DVD player they used the regular player for this TV and it was just horrible. The picture was worse than what they had with the older analog set. Rushed out and bought the new DVD player. That problem was fixed.

They receive their digital TV over antenna. Keep in mind that on antenna you can get three signals - analog (which disappears in 2009), digital (regular signal for lack of another term) and HD. Since analog is going the way of the dodo there's no need to address that. However, there are plenty of times that the digital signal is not in HD. When that happens, this TV's picture is kind of disappointing. Not horrible, no, but if you're stuck without an HD signal long enough it will make you wonder why you spent so much money.

Keep in mind that there are digital TVs that do handle non-HD signals quite well - but you have to find the professional technical reviews out there to find out which ones they are.

This might sound like I'm bashing this TV, but I don't intend to. It was worth the money. Just buyer beware. Buy this if you know you're going to receive an HD signal on a regular basis. If not, you might want to look for a different model.

Wonderful set, but

You can get it for less at a retail store. I paid $799 for this in Spring 2007 at my local Costco.. Circuit City and Best Buy wanted $1300!

While researching the set, I compared it (at Circuit City) to a Sony Bravia sitting next to it. Picture settings were the same and they were running the same feed.. the 37HL67 blew the Bravia away. And the fact that I could get it for almost $600 less, coupled with 3 HDMI when most sets this size only had 2 made it an easy purchase.

Standard def is as good as it can be. HD varies by channel and program, something you'll notice once you start watching programming.

Hockey and Basketball look GREAT, football and baseball.. look better on a plasma. PS3/XBOX 360/Wii all look amazing, as do Blu-ray movies.

Def. a worthwhile buy, but shop around and try to get a better price!

Great quality for the price.

I have had this TV for about 5 months (yes, I used my tax rebate). I was lucky and found it on sale as an end of line since the new ones were coming out. I had gone to the store planning to buy the newest Toshiba 37" (not Regza) but got this one instead as it was exactly the same for less money. I love it! I had upgraded from a 21" CRT so it was a huge improvement. I find the picture quality, sound and menus to be very good. My only complaint is when I watch DVDs I have to turn the sound way up, but this is probably not really an issue with the TV itself. I researched the LCD market heavily before I bought and I believe I made the best choice for me. I highly recommend this TV (and Toshiba in general) as a great choice for a great price.

Very Disappointed Customer...

...On 3/31/07...I purchased a Toshiba 37HLV66 37" LCD TV from RitzCamera through Amazon. I never received this purchase. When I contacted RitzCamera, after two phone calls and two emails they would not honor this sale. I didn't expect this when dealing with Two Reputable Company's. "Very Disappointed Customer"...

Awesome Value

Bought this set after alot of research on this site as well as others. It is a 1080i which no matter what you read does make a difference. I watched two sets side by side by the same manufacturer one 720i and the other 1080i...there was a difference the 1080i showed more detail. I found mine online at Best Buy for $1299 and at HH Gregg for $1499. I went to the HH Gregg in my town and showed them the online BB price which they undercut by $25.00 Brought the set home unpacked and plugged it in. Hooked up regular cable and let it self program. To my great surprise I am receiving some channels in HD without the converter rented from the cable company. Please remember to give any set a few hours to warm up before judging the picture. After about 4 hours the picture had settled in to near perfection. I also own a 46 inch Toshiba rear projection that is in my lower level which I have had for 4 years and as of yet have not had one problem it is also HD 1080i and the picture is stunning. The built in DVD player on the new Toshiba REGZA 37HLV66 37" LCD HDTV with DVD Player upconverts to almost an HD pic and my wife and I watched Braveheart on it this a.m. and were pleasantly surprised as well. It's only been one day but as first impressions go from someone who has been called a perfectionist I am very happy with the price and Picture on this set!

Great TV with DVD Player

Took the TV out of the box, plugged it in, did some simple set up procedures and started enjoying HD. Good picture also very good sound. Not exactly a full-featured surround system but not bad.
Was looking for a quality LCD with a built-in DVD Player cuz I like simplicity and hate lots of wires all over the place. Its a great unit.

Very Good Television

I did not purchase this through Amazon. Sorry. I spent the past few weeks researching HDTV sets for our living room. Our living room is rectangular in shape and not all that large (12 x 20). With that in mind I wanted to stay under 40". We currently have a 26" JVC flat screen (a great tv). I decided on the Toshiba 37" LCD HDTV. I did not want the integrated DVD player, however, the store did not have just the TV ($1399) so after some discussions with the department manager he agreed to sell me the same set w/ the DVD player for the same price.

I got the TV home and the next day hooked up the HD cable box. The HD is great. Discovery HD was fabulous and the PBS was pretty good also. I have to hook-up an indoor antenna to receive a couple of the local stations digital signals because our cable provider doesn't carry them.

I did a little tweaking of the picture and sound. Unlike some other reviews you may read the audio is actually pretty good. I also have my Sony tuner hooked up and that upgrades the sound quality. The first DVD we watched was CARS and it was even more enjoyable on this TV.

The digital and standard cable channels look good.

I would consider this TV when looking for a set under 40".

*UPDATE* I have hooked up an indoor antenna and the local channels in HD are great. Hard to believe you can get such a good picture over the air.

Great TV

I shopped for a long time before purchasing this TV. I had a hard time telling the difference between televisions in the store. What sold me is the 32 inch version of this was at the time the highest picture quality LCD television Consumer Reports had tested in that size. I also like the idea of the built in DVD player.

Another thing that swung me toward this set is the flat black finish. I saw some gloss black finishes, but after a while I noticed I was seeing lots of reflections in the black. I found this very distracting. The lack of reflections on the screen is one reason I picked LCD over Plasma.

Like another reviewer, I was surprised I'm picking up HD channels on the cable without a cable box. I also have an external antenna hooked up and am able to pick up around 18 channels of the air in Cincinnati. The picture quality is stunning.

On the minus side, you need to evaluate the inputs carefully. It has two sets of RCA inputs, but one is side mounted, so the wires may be visible if you use it. The S Video input uses the sound inputs of the rear RCA inputs. As a result, if you have (Like I do) older equipment, you may not be able to hook everything up. For example, I have Dish DVR reciever that has S video output as the highest quality output and a VCR that uses RCA jacks. I couldn't use them both without using the side input.

It does have two component inputs and an HMDI input.

It has a single RF input which is less of an issue since you can pickup the HD channels on the regular cable. My old RCA HDTV has two RF inputs, I have one hooked to the antenna, the other to the cable. I would have preferred this setup.

Other than this minor annoyance, I heartily recommend. (By the way the new Toshiba's have a gloss black finish- I'm glad I bought this one)

Regza 1080p Full HD LCD

Customer Review :

Okay product until it broke, poor customer service!

We purchased our TV almost 1 year ago and at first LOVED it. It had good sound, a good picture, and was very user-friendly. But then...

It acted up starting about 6 months in. The video display would go black upon start up and we would have sound but no picture. The problem would correct itself when the TV was power-cycled. More recently, the TV picture went blank and never came back on. We called for a repair since the product was still under warranty and it's been more than a month since it broke and we still do not have a suitable fix!

Now they want to replace the display board - which costs more than the television itself! And...its going to take more than 3 weeks to get the part in and installed!

The broken TV may be a single case out of many good reviews, but the customer service I've been receiving has been horrible. To me its unacceptable that the TV has been out of service for more than a month and I'm still waiting. The good news is that the TV broke while under warranty!

I'd really watch the company you buy the TV from. They are ultimately honoring their warranty, but the customer service is poor and the timining is worse!

Getting This Next! I have the 720p and LOVE IT!

If I had a living room this is going in it. I have the 720p & the HD channels are incredible. Can't wait to upgrade & enjoy the 1080p!

Can't beat it

I've had this TV for nearly a year now and I have absolutely no complaints, except that since I live in the boonies, I can't get the DirecTV HD Satellite so I can't take advantage of that feature. However, the picture is so much better than the one on my old Zenith 27" that I feel as if it is HDTV anyway. Easy setup, flawless performance, bright and sharp picture--and the prices are down now from what they were when I bought it last year. Compare it to the SONY, which has a similar picture quality and it's a no-brainer. Go Toshiba!

Don't Buy At Any Price!

I don't recommend buying anything from Toshiba. It has been my experience that Toshiba produces a shabby product and treated me in a shabby way, here's why: On January 23, 2008 I purchased a REGZA 32HL67U32" LCD HDTV (predecessor to the current model)for $720. By the last week in March 2009, the main panel failed and I was told by the repair center that the replacement panel would cost $1,900.

I contacted Toshiba and I was told by a customer service supervisor that since the breakdown occurred 15 months after the purchase, they would pay 50% of the replacement part ($950), if I paid the other half, plus labor.

Their offer made no financial sense; first of all, why does a replacement part cost nearly 3 times the amount of the original TV? They had no answer to that question. Secondly, using their logic, they could ship me a new TV and save themselves $230!

It is clear that by using an artificially high replacement part value, they are dodging responsibility for the quality of their product. The TV is a total loss to me after such a short period of time.

I will never do business with Toshiba again!

Great TV until it dies

I have the same problem many others are having with Toshiba.....Screen goes blank. After I turn it on I briefly see the picture 2 times and then nothing but sound. Many have been fortunate for this to happen before the warranty expires, I did not. Less than a month out of warranty and I now have a dead TV and I agree with the complaints about Toshiba's customer service....I really got the impression that they know this is a problem but really don't care. Save yourself the headache and the waste of money....DO NOT BUY A TOSHIBA!!!! At this point I can not even afford to fix it. It was truly a waste of $900.00

Question : Toshiba Regza HD TV problems
I currently own a 37 inch Toshiba HD-TV and the TV is constantly over heating. The TV can be on for approximately 1.5 hours and it is emitting so much heat that we are forced to turn it off until it cools down completely. Anyone else have this problem with this model and are there any fixed that can help to cool this unit down.I swear I have been a loyal Toshiba consumer but lately all products I buy from them seems to have one problem or another, Typically overheating. I purchased a new laptop from them and out of the box it was getting extremely hot to the point that I had to have it serviced and still no resolution.Any advice, answers or comments. Thanks a Bunch
