Best TV I've ever had

I had a 65" Mitsubishi HD that I bought in 2002...not quit the same kind of HD. The Sharp just blows it away! Not fair to compare rear projection to LCD, but man am I satisfied! The Bluray, when used is just outstanding. I mounted the Sharp above our fireplace, and now our living room is so much larger. I was not concerned at all about the TV sound as it is hooked up to my surround sound system...I love it!
Would have only been better if I had managed to go and shop before Christmas and got that good price, but hey, you snooze, you lose! Get one, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful Picture, Amazing Details

I was hesitate purchasing this model from Sharp. I never owned a Sharp TV before. It was either Mitsubishi, Samsung or Philips. I searched and searched for reviews, and there is not that many reviews for this model. Majority are thumbs up for it. So I took a chance with. My current was a 73 INCH Mitsubishi DLP. I loved that tv. The only disappointment was the sound and the overscan. I tried to fix the over scan in the service menu, but no luck. So I traded up (or traded down on size) for this LCD screen. I must admit, this is a pretty sweet unit. I'm not all big on the 120 HZ thing. Some programs do look amazing while using the 120 HZ. Menu is user friendly. It does have the option of the CMS in user menu. For those who don't know, its the ability to calibrate the tv to the way it is meant to be seen. It also has a built in demo features for the 120 HZ vs 60 HZ, and 10 bit processing demo, and others. The Gold bezel on the bottom of the tv, gives it a nice touch of class to it. It gives the ability to stretch, dot by dot, s.stretch or zoom the video. Overall, this tv is NOT a disappointment.

Solid performer

Bought the LC 65D64U to accommodate a large great room. I have another 45" AQUOS so my expectations from Sharp were fairly high. Although I was probably more impressed with the 45" picture quality (first flat LCD), the 65" has solid picture quality, easy to navigate on-screen set up and Sharp support.

One note..as you'd expect, this thing really enlarges the picture, so if you have poor signal input (i.e. not HiDef or HDMI) the poorer picture quality is magnified to 65" and seems more noticeable than the 45" or smaller sets.... I guess size does matter. When running Blu-Ray input and connected to home theatre it is a treat. You might as well save the $10, wait for the Blu-Ray and enjoy the movie at home! i have only noticed limited banding, but that seemed to be resolved with a quick visit from cable provider who tightened the connection.

We got very quick delivery via Amazon preferred partner, quick shipping and help with setting the beast up on the stand. Only negative was that the shippers didn't notice they took the remote control with them (was taped to the inside of the box) so i was unable to set up the set for ~1.5 weeks until we could get another via vendor (they had to order from Sharp).

all in all, good LCD and will likely be in use for years to come

Good monitor for the price

purchased 4 of these monitors for work. The set up menus are a little funky but are the same as all of the other sharp LCD's in the same class of monitor. Very good picture quality for the money.

What a great TV!

I got a great deal on this TV! I was hoping it would go on sale again here on Amazon but it has been unavailable for awhile now, but I happened to be shopping over the weekend, and saw this TV as a "Open Box Deal" that had been a floor model.
I paid $1,599 for it, and bought a extra 3 year warranty for $400.
I would be currious if anyone else got it any cheaper that that! thats about the same price I bought my 46" LCD in my bedroom awhile back.

I have not seen any banding issues or dead pixels, and I am using settings that someone posted on AVS forum, and it looks allot better than I was able to get it.
If anyone is interested I can post those settings here.

Amazing quality and perfect size

I bought this unit because I wanted a television that would give me a home theater experience without converting my basement family room into a media room. It's the perfect size for that...large enough to view movies and play video games with astonishing definition and theater presence without overwhelming the room. I'm amazed myself I'm saying a 65 inch television doesn't dominate the room but that's how far we've come in the last 10 years regarding what we expect from a television experience. I don't know anything about refresh rates or response times...I have a plasma..a 47 inch in our bedroom and the picture quality is no different. The only complaint I have regarding the change from a plasma to an LCD is that at angles to the viewing screen, some definition is lost with the LCD. Other than that, I am completely satisfied.

INCREDIBLE PICTURE !

I recently purchased this television for my restaurant and have recieved rave reviews from all of our patrons. The picture quality is the very best for a 65 inch LCD. This Sharp Aquos television deserves a solid 5 star rating. Great for watching sports!

Question : Do you have a "master plan" on what you will do with your guns as you get old
I am still a relatively young man. Ok, make that, middle-aged man at this point. But, as I look around me, I see a lot of senior citizens moving about...sometimes doing things they can barely do. Like 90 year olds that are still driving. Now mind you. Everyone is different. I've seen 90 year olds that were better drivers than 60 year olds. A few years back I met a man that was 82 that I actually thought was 60 - he was a businessman and he was THAT sharp.Never-the-less, I am not sure that my genes are going to allow me to be a robust thinkin 82 year old. So, I've sort of been planning in my head what I will do as I get older; particularly when it comes to my gun collection.I figure I will start selling all but about 20 of my guns between the ages of 65 and 70. Probably sell my home and move into a senior living community around the same time - just to lighten my load both physically and mentally.Am I the only one that thinks this way I just don't want to be 80 years old with diminishing mental capabilities and have all sorts of firearms around me that I may use in an unsafe manner.Oh, and I am sure I will get a number of "Oh no. Not me. I'll be just fine when I am older.", replies to this. But, I still remember when I graduated from college and was buying business suits for my first real office job. The tailor was leaving room in them to be left out later and he was saying, "You'll need this later on...to let them out...when you gain weight." My reply "Oh no. Not me. You have to be kidding. Ha ha." Thinking, 'Can't he see that I take good care of myself I lift weights - workout. I run and jog. That stuff only happens to lazy people". Of course, I've since added 6 inches to my waistline since the day I was being fitted for my suits.

Answer:
I have also given this much thought. My father-in-law is 80 years old and legally considered blind, he can't drive and can't hardly read even with glasses. He has a large gun collection and I wonder what he is going to do. He won't talk about getting a will made or anything, he just says this gun goes to so and so and this one to so and so. Well I have been there done that with my mother when she passed away. If there is no will made then your wishes might not get done. That was the way with my mother's estate. So, I have been really considering having a will made and the biggest reason is that I want my firearms to remain in the family. So I want to give my oldest son all of my firearms, except for three of them. I want three particular firearms to go to my youngest son. These three he has admired ever since I got them. He (my yongest son) has his own firearm collection and it pretty much is exactly what I have except for the three that he has admired.Honestly we all should think about what we have and who we want having it. I hated to see my mom's estate being sold.

Answer:
I'm purely guessing as I can't see those screenshots. Is your graphics card set to 16 bit This might cause dithering, I don't see it in the details you give.Noise in any image will make it appear sharper. Try loading an image into photoshop and adding a small amount of noise to it and you will see what I mean. What happens if you put the old monitor back on
