Fine Equipment

When this model first came out, there were all the stories about 'ghosting' and 'headlights' and almost every set seemed to have one problem or another, according to the owners.
Of course, when people did their research of these sets, just about all they read were the aforementioned problems and therefore, looked very hard to find something wrong with their TV.
If you look hard enough, you'll almost always find something to nit-pick at.

Slowly, the problems started to 'ease' and the sets have become the standard of the LCD market.
I doubt you could find a better set for the money.

Sony Bravia Television break after one year

DO NOT BUY A SONY BRAVIA TELEVISION. They work for one year and then break. They then try to upsell you on a new television when you call to get a repair.

Not a good purchase!

We purchased this television December of '06. Although the television is nearly 3 years old, the first 21 months it was used at most an hour a day. Around August of '08 the television began having issues sporadically. I would have to power the television on a few times before it would turn on (despite the fact that the power light was on). There was no sound and no picture, just a blank screen. Finally in September of '08 the television never fully turned on (still a power light on, but no picture, no sound. After contacting a repair man, I was told the main board is probably 'fried' and needs to be replaced at the cost of $4,000. I found mutliple instances of this when 'googling' the problem! Not having purchased a 2 year extended warranty, the television is now useless. I'd suggest googling no picture, no sound on the KDL40XBR2 before making this purchase

quit working 5 months after warranty...

First... I know you want to know the problem before reading my complaint.

Bad Controller CPU Board. Which is going to cost me $800-1,000 to fix at the closest service center if I choose to get it fixed. I paid $2,800 for this t.v. and 1 year and 5 months later I'm expected to pay an additional $800 minimum to fix it. B.S.!!!!

I am extremely dissappointed with this Sony product and their customer service. After I had done tons of research and read hundreds of reviews on how good this t.v. was I finally felt comfortable spending this much money on a t.v. I was in love with this product at first. It was everything the reviews had said except it had slight clouding. Well, 1 year and 5 months after purchase the dang thing messed up.

I come home from work to watch some t.v....turn it on...and there was no picture. After a few seconds I heard sound from the speakers, so I automatically thought it was the satellite. A few seconds later the screen turned BRIGHT GREEN!!!! I unplugged the satellite reciever and tested it on the dvd player...same thing bright green screen. Unplugged everything and was just going to use the t.v.'s menu, but the same thing. I actually couldn't pull up the menu, so I knew something bad was probably wrong.

I called Sony customer service and went through a couple of trouble shooting tips, but they ended up ruling it unrepairable over the phone and said I had to take it to a service center. The service center tech called and said it was the CPU board and it would be $800-1,000 to fix. I called another service center and they said the same thing.

It was manufactured in Mexico, so if you are thinking about buying this model I suggest two things:

1. Don't buy it if it says "Manufactured in Mexico" with a manufactured date between August '06 - December '06

2. Get the extended warranty. Because lately I've seen reviews of the backlight going out or some minor problems that are happening shortly after the 1 year manufacturers warranty.

Incredible for over a year now!

I held off on this review for over a year now.

When I bought it I was blown away. This was an expensive piece, Sony TV's allways are more costly than thier competition, but they are also worth it.

I have a PlayStation 3 (which is also a BluRay player) hooked up using HDMI.
I have a PC hooked up to this with a DVI cable (with wireless keyboard/remote).
We sit on the couch, and watch movies, play games, and use the computer. All crystal clear, and of course in surround sound. This has so many functions I havent even used, only had it for one year, and it has been worth its value many times over. I would buy this again in a heartbeat!

Sony KDL-46XBR2 Bravia XBR LCD HDTV

Customer Review :

I'm a normal guy with a normal guy perspective

As of November 13, 2007 I've had this television three months. I ordered through Amazon. Eagle Shipping called two days prior with the date and possible delivery time. They made the delivery within two hours of their estimation. As soon as the t.v. arrived I watched it in a windowless room. I can not perceive any inconsistencies or "cloudy / gray" areas. Please do not let previous reviews deter you from purchasing any of the Sony XBR line T.V.'s. I am convinced the "ghosting" complaints were very legitimate but limited to specific production dates.
First, there are T.V.'s with better picture quality but my environment is a livingroom with three full walls of windows. A plasma T.V. was not a viable option. From my four months of "playing around" before buying I will subscribe to most professional publications- Pioneer (plasma) picture quality is currently the best. Back on track- When watching a full HD program the picture is stunning. However; if you are not watching an HD program, then the picture is fair. I had to upgrade my cable service substancially to get any HD networks- A hidden cost to remember. I also discovered not all cameras at sports events are HD. There is a dramatic (and very distracting) difference in picture quality during HD sporting events. I do not notice the "streaking" which some people claim to see when watching fast moving objects. Finally, there are a lot of "tweeks" (picture options) available in the XBR series. A lot of reviews list this as a "negative" or "unnessessary" feature. I completely disagree. It takes time to navigate the sub-menus and to cross-check your settings but once complete, the final picture is superb when compared to the default settings.
My complaints: I do not use the remote except to adjust the picture. Everything is done by my HD cable remote. Sony boasts about the "Floating Glass" Design. It's nice but it adds four inches to the width. That makes this a very big t.v. and (unless you mount it) you must be aware of the space needed to house it. Also, not to be redundant- but you must adjust nearly all picture settings to enjoy this t.v. Finally, this is a very expensive "toy." And like all electronics the price has dropped $299 since I bought it. Pay the extra $100 or $200 to ensure you can return it if you do not like it. READ the RETURN POLICIES because there are numerous restrictions and restocking fees at most wholesale electronic stores. Thanks for reading and good luck in your purchase.

Sony does it all

I did months of research before I decided on the Sony XBR2. I wanted to find out if the higher price was worth it. It definitely is! The HD picture quality is amazing! It is almost three dimensional My set is 46" so it feels like I am looking out of my window at the action on the screen. Colors are beautiful and vivid! I find myself watching programs that I hate if they are in HD. Simulated surround sound is pretty good too, particularly in movies. I wish it had PIP especially at this price! It has a freeze picture option but it requires me to use the Sony remote vs the Comcast cable remote. My wife and I really like the floating appearance and the silver color...very elegant! Bottom line is that this is the best combination of quality, performance, good looks on the market today.

sony xbr 46 and 52 in problems

While Sony products are exceptional ,the models XBR46 and XBR 52 in have been given extended warranties because of problems with the LCD panels.
Mine was 14 months old and out of warranty when the pictures were all screwed up.It was only by researching online that I fell across Sony"s nondescript announcement about the panel.
Sony promptly sent a technician to my house and I got a new LCD panel yesterday.

The Greatest Television Ever

This is the greatest television ever, just like the subject line of this review says. If it were possible to give "Six" stars, I would. Very pleased with this set - after six months of countless hours of viewing on all sorts of football, tv, movie circumstances. Great, great tv. Buy one, buy this one, and be very glad that you did. Only buy though, if you have the available $$$ for such a thing. Real great alternative is a Vizio, might not be the high-quality la-la of this one - but will save ya the dough, if thats your case. If you have it, and can spend it, spend it here on this model. The glass floating perimeter of the set never gets old to look at. Clean lines.

Your Better Off NOT Buying this.

I purchased mine back in 2007 on December 24th. A Christmas present to myself. By June of 2008, it began to show problems. By September 2009, I have a black hole sitting in my livingroom. To fix it, you have to replace the front panel at a cost of $1080.00. And Sony does not provide you any assistance at all. Your on your own. If you want Sony to replace it, you better buy the extended warranty otherwise you'll be sitting with a black hole in your room too.

Make a statement with the understated elegance of this fashionable stand for your BRAVIA LCD HDTV. Built to high standards with a piano black finish, this stand complements the amazing design of your television in a subtle, sophisticated way. One large storage area is perfect for your A/V components, PlayStation gaming console and cable box.

Customer Review :

A Must Have for your SONY TV

I bought this stand to go with my 46 inch Sony Bravia LCD television and it is a perfect match (piano black.) It was delivered in a box that was "gorilla proof" and arrived in perfect condition although it was very heavy. The tv actually attaches to the stand and is very secure. The only negative thing is that the finish is hard to keep clean as it is very shiny, just like the tv. There are no adjustable shelves, but there is plenty of room for your components. The stand itself is a very sturdy piece of furniture. Buy this stand; you won't be sorry....

horrible quality and bad customer service

I received this TV stand with numerous damaged parts and missing screws out of the box. I tried to contact the seller, Amazon, and Sony customer support. All of them tried to point fingers at each other. Ultimately I spent $387 on a defective product. It has chipped wood, cracked frame, loose plastic holder on screws, missing screws. I will never buy stuff from this seller again.

Matches TV

This is a very heavy stand. It is easy to assemble. It had some slight damage but not enough to go to the trouble of returning it. If it had a shelf or the ability to add a shelf I would give it a higher rating.

Beautiful!

I have to say i was really surprised at how great this stand looks. Perfect match for my Samsung LNT 46" LCD. It almost looks like a work of art. Unfortunately, I also had some damage due to the way things were packed. The nubs that hold the glass crushed little bits off the bottom piece along the back. Not enough for me to go to the trouble of returning it and not noticeable because it is in the back. However, a piece of foam or cardboard to protect this from happening is warranted. Otherwise, very easy to assemble and a solid piece of furniture. Do wish there was an additional shelf or option and I did not realize the bottom glass piece extends a little forwards and backwards beyond the frame. Overall, very happy.

Not bad,...but could be a little better.

I got this stand to go along with a 52" Sony XBR4. The stand did come with a set of brackets and screws for a center channel, though didn't fit with my Sony SS2000 surround sound center speaker. Also the glass shelf is not adjustable, so its pretty much stuck where its at on the bottom. The finish is a really nice black and overall its really not a bad stand, just has some small things that could have made it better.

I am looking for one that looks cute, but a little bit realistic (not with a smiley face). Does anyone know where I can buy one I didn't think this would be such an odd thing to look for, but I'm stumped.

Question : Where can I buy slaked lime in the UK
I'm looking for some slaked lime for cooking and can't seem to find it anywhere. I've tried to find it online but all the results I'm getting involve large sacks for construction use. Could anyone give me some suggestions as to where I might be able to find some

Answer:
Are you sure it is slaked lime that you require as i have never heard of it being used for cooking. If it is try going to a chemical supplier and asking for calcium hydroxide. It will be more expensive but will be free of the contaminants you would get in the industrial type
