Vertical Lines
It was fine while it worked; like so many others, for about 24 months. Now it has no picture and only displays the infamous multi-colored vertical stripes.
Sony's answer? "There is no known issue." Of course there are hundreds of identical reports, complete with photos that could be my set, documented on the web.
I have not yet checked, but the repair estimates I read suggest that this sub-two year old TV is now garbage.
It's a crowded marketplace, for us Sony has just eliminated themselves from future consideration.
Caveat emptor folks.

Add me to the list of people with multi-colored bars
Sony does not support the information list on 3rd party web sites I am told. But I have the same problem as everyone else white screen with multicolored stripes - I paid good money for Sony quality and got a piece of junk that lasted 2.5 years.

Green Vertical Lines
Like others here, I purchased this TV in November 2007. It was a good TV (a bit expensive for the size) until November 2009. I now have a green vertical line on the left side of the screen. It is there no matter which input I'm using. I saw the other reviews here and didn't even want to take it for an estimate being afraid of what I might hear. But, I purchased it with my Visa card and they double manufacturer's warranties. So, I had to take it in.... $1093 for a new LCD panel! What???? I only paid $1200 for it. I would suggest steering clear of this model. I'll personally be steering clear of Sony from now on. So, let's just hope the Visa warranty actually pays out. I need to put a call in to Sony also - maybe if enough people complain they'll put out a recall.

Add me to list of Vertical Liners!
27 Months and now my tv has started with the vertical lines. I did like it appears everyone else did and searched the web first. Was told through an online resource that the part alone is over $600 never mind labor to repair it. Called Sony and was told "there is no known issue of this type" for that model. Seriously??? Just google "vertical lines 32xbr4" and you'll find all sorts of "issues". Even sent them an email, their response: "I'm sorry that you are not completely satisfied with your Sony TV. It is appreciated you've taken the time to share your comments with us. It is important to receive feedback so we may consider the needs of our customers in the future." Wow! Wasn't that nice of them. I saw where they addressed the same problem with the 46" model and are fixing it for people. Maybe if we keep bombarding them with our problem they'll acknowledge it as a "known issue" and pay for the repair.
I'm definitely leaning towards a Samsung for my next tv. Haven't read any horror stories on thier models.

Avoid This TV at all Costs
Same problem as I've seen on numerous websites. My Tv is shot after 2 years of use because of a bad TCON board. Sony will not own up to it and refuse to help. They have lost a Sony customer who has bought there products for 20 years.

Optical block dead like everyone else
All SONY rear projection tv optical blocks are going to die in 4-5 years. Sony sold these TVs with a known problem. To me, SONY is a crook company. There is a class action suit against sony for this. Hot Bulb next to small lcd panels = burnt lcd panels.

does not last no tech support
Purchased about 2 and a half years ago, and got the common problem of multi color verticle lines across the display. Online research points to the B block as being the problem ($400.00 non returnable part), but sony technical support will not confirm it has fixed other peoples tvs. Sony did confirm other people have had this same problem with this tv, but they would not tell me how they fixed it unless I called the 1-900 phone number to be charged 3.50 a minute. The TV does not last and sony will charge at a minimum 400.00 dollars to fix it. Do not make the same mistake I did, do not buy this TV.

THE VERTICAL COLORED LINES OF DEAD (CLOD)
THE VERTICAL COLORED LINES OF DEAD (CLOD)
This TV has a fantastic image, and a good sound quality. BUT it always maked some kind of weird clicking sounds from time to time. Until last week it worked just fine, but last Sunday it took over 3 minutes to turn on, and when it did no image can be seen, only vertical colored lines were displayed all over the screen. I have no response from the buttons in front of the TV, and neither the ones in the remote. Only S-video source can be barely seen behind the Colored Lines of Dead (CLOD).
Sony support page has a statement from year 2006, saying that all the series of TV models KDF-EXXAXX had some software issue that causes a turning on delay, the clicking sounds, etc. You can check yours entering your model and serial number at Sony Support. Mine it's one of those "blessed" TVs. Thank you very much SONY.
My local technical service has no idea of what's happening to my TV. They are checking with Sony Panama, and no response has been received yet.
I know that I'm not the only one with this problem (aka: The CLOD). I checked recently in [...], and we are 3 by now, but apparently the problem just started to haunt Sony KDF owners.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. THE VERTICAL "COLORES LINES OF DEAD" WILL HAUNT YOU SOONER OR LATER

STAY AWAY
Stay away from this Sony piece of junk. Mine started to develope blotchy patches in the middle of the picture. Started to do research on the web and found web site dedicated to this. It seems the light engines fail in many of the Sony WEGA and GrandWEGA TV's after a few years. There are several class action lawsuits against Sony because the light engines are defective, and these law suite claim Sony may have even known about the problem and continued to sell the TV's at retail outlets. Sad thing is, when I got the TV the picture was really outstanding. But after just four years I'm in the market for a new TV.

18 months of ownership
Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color I bought this TV back in July of 2008 for $2000. I have to say that this TV has proven to be a great product that has kept pace with the 2010 LCD models. Other than the new 2 inch LED models coming out this TV has a great picture quality whem combined with a good HD source (PS3, HD Set-top-box). Obviously this model has been replaced by the 750 and even the LN52B650 but when doing a side by side comparison the picture appears just as good. Samsung has released new features to the newer models but most of them are either marketing gimmicks are can be done with external hardware like a PS3. My only issue with this TV was the speakers, prior to setting up my receiver/5.1 setup the audio was very weak. I felt I had to set the audio to 60+ (TV was in a large open room), this is a minor issue as I would imagine most people purchasing a TV of this price have matched it up with at least a HT in a box.

Power cycles a common issue
I've had this unit for 16 months now. Though I was very happy with the image initially I now have power issues. The TV tries to turn on but can't. I can hear it clicking to power up but never happens. It simply keeps clicking with no picture. I've tried unplugging the unit and then trying again but that hasn't helped. I have seen many issues concerning this problem from other customers. The typical solution is to have it serviced and pay $500 for a new part. This is a major design flaw for Samsung not to correct. Since this is an inherent design problem they should service these as if under warranty. 16 months is far to short of operation for a $2500 product. I can't recommend this product.

Do NOT buy this product - Power problems make it useless
I bought this set in January 2009. The picture quality has been great, and it is a good TV set in general. However, after about 10 months, the TV started to have power cycle problems. When we tried to turn the TV on or off, it will keep turning on and off repeatedly. When this happens, we have to unplug the power supply, and wait for some time before we can plug it back and use the TV again. I contacted Samsung service, and got the latest firmware. You know what? My TV was built in late 2008 and it has already the latest firmware. The firmware Samsung service sent me is identical to what my TV has. So it is not the firmware problem. Here I made a critical mistake: I didn't follow through and request a repair service from Samsung while it was still under warranty. I thought the issue was still manageable, so it was not worth wasting time to get the service. Big mistake. Now 3 months later, the power problem got worse, and we can no long even turn the TV on.
The TV looks great when it is working. But there are fundamental quality/design issues with its power supply. A great TV without power is useless, and you will be better off with a lesser TV that is more reliable.
I will wait and see how the service/repair works out and comment more afterward.

As Good as it gets! Excellent Picture, Great Sound Poor Remote!
This is as good as it gets for the year and price, I am picky and have no complaints other then a weak remote, oh well everything cant be perfect.......

bad power supply
First I will say that hands down for the price this set has one of the finest pictures around.
And now the bad news - either the quality control or effort in design is horrible.
A very common problem with Samsung electronics is to use cheap components and in some cases undervalued components.
The Power Supply board is known to generally fail within thirteen or so months due to blown capacitors. In the circuit where 16 to 25 volt caps should be placed Samsung selected to put just 10 volt and the results are blown caps in a very short time frame.
The fix for anyone familiar with how to replace board components is relatively easy as this board in question is very accessible from the back of the set. But for the majority it means shelling out a few hundred dollars to get fixed.
Will I buy another Samsung - cannot say for sure if it is worth the trouble.
By comparison I have a smaller Vizio LCD quite a few years old that is on all the time and has a nice picture - not once has it ever given us a problem. I think the next round is going to be reliability vs. picture quality.

Question : My lcd display have 6 vertical lines of differents color I need to repalced.
how can i identify my lcd display brand and other things i need to know for buy the rigth one and replaced
Answer:
Usually the brand name is on the front of the monitor. But if there is not one there then look on the very back of your monitor. Depending on what brand it is most companies have 1 yr warranties and 3 yr warranties. They should replace it. If you want a new lcd i recommend getting a lcd with a 3 yr warranty. Heres are the brands i prefer and recommend,Acer, Viewsonic, Sony, Samsung, BenQ, LG, and Rosewill.I like Acers the best. Also get an lcd with at least 16ms response time or less. This will help the monitor from ghosting. Dot pitch is also i big issue the lower the better its in mm.Email me if you have any questionsIf you are talking about lcd's on laptops then the manufacter should fix that also depending on the warranty. sorry if i posted the wrong thing.
