Outstanding TV

This television has an amazing picture and does not heat up like a plasma screen. Viewing is excellent from all angles; sports are crystal clear with absolutely no motion blur. Be sure to visit some of the tech websites for a list of the most effective picture settings.

I've only had the TV for four months, but there have been no problems with it. It is currently wall-mounted and attached to a home theater system with a blu-ray player and a Wii. I'm thoroughly satisified with all aspects of its performance.

A Good TV.. With a Few Exceptions

I bought this TV about a week ago and have been fairly impressed. There is a lot to like about this TV, but there are also a few problems.

The Good:
The picture is great; very clear with both HDTV and BluRays. The black levels and contrast are very good. The sound isn't terrible (with some tweaking), but it isn't anything to write home about. The settings are very intuitive and easy to work with.

The Bad:
I've already mentioned the sound, but it bears repeating: the sounds levels are just okay. You will not be able to turn the bass up to what I would call an acceptable level without making the speaker housings vibrate which can be very annoying. This wasn't a deal killer for me as I paired it with a surround sound system, so I barely hear the TV speakers.

This TV is terrible for gaming. I should qualify this: This TV is terrible for playing music type games. There is considerable input lag using a Wii, even with the game mode turned on. I attempted to play Guitar Hero: World Tour after connecting the Wii to the TV using the new composite cables I had to buy (more on that in a minute), and found it to be unplayable. Because there is considerable lag, the strum does not register until just after the notes have passed, resulting in a missed note... many, many missed notes actually. This is not acceptable for me.

There are not enough inputs for gaming devices and there are only inputs for HD devices. While this may seem like a stupid complaint, remember that neither the Wii, nor the PS2 (outdated I know, but bare with me) have an HDMI output. I had to go buy HD Composite cables for both and a switch box because there is only 1 composite input on the TV. These cables aren't really cheap, so that was another $60 I had to shell out. Also, there are only 4 HDMI inputs total, so if you have multiple gaming systems, a BluRay player and a cable/satellite box, you may need to buy an HDMI switch to get everything to work.

The Ugly:
You will need to take quite a bit of time to calibrate this TV to make everything look the way it should. Here is a quick tip though: if you don't want everything you watch to have the quality of a commercial, turn off the 120Hz options (located in Picture Options > Auto Motion Plus 120Hz). Some people may like the ultra crisp effect that this adds to movies and programs, but I just feel it makes everything look very plastic and without depth.

All-in-all, this is a decent TV, that could will be great for some... but terrible for others. If nothing I listed will bother you, this is a great TV for the money and will not disappoint.

LED LCD TV

Great TV. The picture is about as good as you can expect from an LED LCD TV. The delivery was expertly done as was the connection to cable. It took a total of 15 minutes from the time the delivery truck parked in my driveway until I was looking at HD television.

Samsung LED 46"

I absolutely love my new TV, and I love that Amazon was so easy to order from and the delivery was timely. The picture on this TV is incredible. I have it hooked up to a receiver and speakers, so I can't speak to the sound. Due to having it hooked up to a receiver, I have found that because my receiver is older and not a 1080 receiver, I'm not getting full 1080p reception. I plan to replace my receiver in the future to go with my Blue Ray player and new TV and I'm sure I'll be delighted.

Awesome tv

I am not a tech freak or a high def guy, I just like the picture. After 2 weeks, I will still see certain footage of a football game or even in a hdtv tv show and think to myself, 'that's pretty cool'.

samsung flat screen

We love this TV!!! The picture is very clear in HD, not so much on regular TV. THe picture is a little blurred on regular stations. The colors are vibrant. You must purchase HD cables with it, and a soundbar. Without it the sound is muffled.

Best Tv I ever had, so far.....

"The best picture overall!!! Everybody complains aout the sound but please tell me what LCD Tv has great sound??? lol. Only bad part is the white clouds in the background of the Tv. My noticeable white cloud is in the top right hand corner. Its a bit annyoing but I can deal with it. Samsung is suppose to update the Firmware so it will elminate the white clouds. Other then that.... I SOOOOOO glad I bought this Tv."

Lacks important high def zoom feature, picture/colors great, audio poor

I have several HDTVs. A Panasonic plasma V10 and an older Sony CCFL LCD set. Samsung is missing an important feature the competitors all have -- picture zoom of a high def signal. When watching a Blu-ray, for example, I prefer to eliminate the black horizontal bars of the common super-wide films by zooming equally in both directions. This Samsung can't do it.

On a postive note, the picture quality is quite good with excellent brightness and colors. There is some backlight bleeding in the corners during dark scenes, but is only noticeable with my room's lights out. The game mode actually turns off some of the processing to speed up the response - very nice. Samsung provides a full assortment of picture adjustments too.

Audio quality from the built in speakers is noticeably worse than my Sony. Perhaps because the speakers do not fire forward, I don't know.

In summary, a good television that doesn't use environmentally poor flourescent backlighting with a great picture. If you're looking for comprehensive zoom functionality, try a different manufacturer.

Incredible picture. I did a lot of research before purchase and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Amazon had best price and delivery was as promised.

Beutiful

I've had this TV for over a year now, bought it when it just came out for a little over 2200. It was worth it then and now that it's almost $800 cheaper, I'm thinking of getting another one! This TV is beautiful! It's sleek, thin, the picture is amazing after calibration! (the factory settings are a little too bright) I've had other models and seen other flat screens at friend's homes but this one is something special. It's the main piece of art in our living room! It may seem a little pricey, but you are paying for style. So if you can afford it, I say buy it.

Excellent TV

I am still extremely impressed with this television one year into ownership. The picture quality is simply outstanding, and it looks great hanging on the wall.

It has a built-in sub-woofer which helps the sound quite a bit (this is a step up over the 650 model). We almost always listen with just TV speakers, so it was important to me. However, at low volumes, the sound is a bit 'tinny', which is par for the course with thin TVs. Overall, I'd say the sound is top-of-the-line for a flat panel TV, so don't let this deter you. Listening at normal volume, the sound is better than the large CRT we were using before.

Some people complain about a 'halo' around the edge of the screen, and some cosmetic peeling of the 'Touch of Color' (inside the glass of the bezel). These things exist, but they don't bother me. The halo is easily solved if it irritates you (just search around, there are a couple ways to do it), and the peeling is so tiny, I can't believe how much people were commenting on it. You can't even see it unless you're right next to the TV and looking for it. Maybe we just have a mild case of it.

The glossy screen concerned me before I purchased - it almost kept me from pulling the trigger. I don't regret it in the least. Now, when I'm looking at TVs for other rooms in the house, I find I WANT a glossy screen because of how attractive it is and how deep the blacks are (note - I don't care for them on laptops because of glare). However, be wary if there are lots of windows in the room that shine on the TV. If you're sensitive to this, it could bother you. (I still think it's worth it, personally.)

I also use the TV for gaming (Playstation 3). I don't bother putting the TV into 'game mode' (which it has), and have zero problems with lag. Maybe I'm not that sensitive, but I've never noticed any lag at all, actually. I keep my AMP (Auto Motion Plus?) setting on 'Low'. Higher settings seem to cause erratic visuals in fast moving scenes, and I suspect will cause some display lag as it does the extra processing.

Purchased from Amazon, which was no hassle at all (I was concerned about buying a big ticket item online). I won't hesitate to buy a TV from them again. We had zero dead pixels, so no returns were necessary.

Finally, note that there is a newer model of this TV (the B750) which is apparently also excellent (I did some quick research). Although I have no first hand experience with it, it's possible the B750 has a bit more lag than the A750 (if you're looking to use it for any kind of gaming). Honestly, I sincerely doubt that's an issue and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I'm thrilled with my purchase after a year, and would buy again in a heartbeat if the need arose. We have had zero problems with the TV in that time, which speaks for its reliability.

TV rebooting / on-off issue

Just to warn everyone contemplating buying this tv or any other samsung tvs ( search google ). After about 6 months the tv just will not start. rather it goes into rebooting itself. You just don't have any control over the tv. It starts and you can hear the initial sound but then no display and the tv goes off in a while to start all over again. Very frustrating and annoying to happen in just 6 months. Searching google it seems this is a very common problem and Samsung doesnt have a clue as to what's happening. I have extended warranty so will update on how it goes fixing this issue. It's a warning to all spending so much money on a branded tv. Rather go with vizio or any other cheap tv so as to not waste hard earned money.

Update: TV got fixed. Took 2 weeks though. Tech told me all the parts are new and warned that these are very common problems with Samsung. If you buying any Samsung, folks get extended warranty. I just hope it doesnt go bad again !

Quit working after 13 months!!!!

I am so upset because the warranty is only good for one year. The tv keeps turning itself off the second you turn it on. I researched the internet to see what the problem could be and found a lot of customers with the exact same problem! They said it cost between 400-500 dollars to fix and and it is caused by a bulging resistor and they replace the whole circuit panel. Usually it is 18 months when they go out from other reviews. I spent almost 2000.00 after shipping, etc. and it is too expensive to just throw away yet 500 dollars to fix is also ridiculous. I should have stuck to my old reliable Sony.

I love this. I wish I purchased a 65 inch unit.

Don't forget, when you purchase a rectangular tv most broadcasts are square. Go figure. You need to purchase a larger unit than you think. I purchased a 46 inch tv but most broadcasts come out in HD which is 38 inches. Why make all of us purchase HD rectangular tv's when HD is broadcast in a square format? Next well all have to purchase round tv's to view a rectangular format. Only in America! And I love America!
Generations of USA born Americans

Proud to be an American but we go along with some pretty strange ideas!

Buy only if you want to pay for Audio only

Be forewarned, this TV is fine while it's working but the screen goes black (after about a year in my case) and so far I have not been able to determine if there is a remedy. It looks like a common problem so even though the price is relatively low it has turned out to be a very bad value.
