Great TV for the Money

Very nice TV. The picture is great, the DVD player is perfect, and I have it hooked up to both HD cable and two separate gaming systems (XBox 360 & Playstation 2) and both look great on the television. I'm very happy with it.

Bad DVD Player

Great TV, nice featuers but my build in DVD player died....As with all TV's with built in DVD players they just die and now I have a useless DVD player which is out of warranty of course.

A bit pricey

Over all, I like the quality of this TV. However, based on the quality and prices of tvs in it's size class, I would definitely not recommend this tv if you have room for a component DVD player. The only reason I purchased this tv was for convenience and space. You can definitely get a better TV for less without the built in DVD. If space isn't an issue, save your money.

So portable!

I was looking for an easily moveable TV with DVD. I love the built in DVD slot. The TV is light and easy to move. Just what I was looking for.

TV screen went black after 13 months

The channels come on very slowly. Like many HD TV's you have to be facing it straight on to get good picture quality. The volume does not get very loud. After 13 months the television screen just went black. We sent it in to be repaired and the screen was fixed but it was sent back with an audio problem. Toshiba wants $189.00 to repair the audio that was fine before they repaired the broken screen.

PLEASE! don't buy if you are looking for one that will last

I rarely write reviews but I (almost) always read them before I make a purchase......this purchase was the exception to my rule. I have never been more disappointed with an electronic purchase in my life. If the bottom line for you is price, please, please, please consider an alternative. My kids have been without their tv/dvd for going on 2 months now and this is why--I purchased this t.v in Aug. 09 for my children's room, primarily to use for dvd's. I figured having the television component would be great as they got older. If only I had not let the (great) price sway my decision from going with a better known brand for a few bucks more. The problems started 24 hours after I set it up. The remote (without warning) stopped working altogether. It was not dropped, mishandled, etc. I called the manufacturer and was told to send a $6 money order to them and that the turnaround time would be 6-8 weeks! I had no choice so I sent it hoping 6-8 weeks was the timeframe they gave everyone. I was wrong. Week #7 the new remote arrived. Mind you I could only start the dvd and let it run all the way through because there was no way to fast forward, rewind, view special features, etc. without the remote. It was simply a design flaw. Once the remote arrived, it worked perfectly. No more problems with the remote. Dec 09 (4 months later) I put in a dvd, I heard a click and nothing else. It would not recognize that a disc was even in the player. I read the manual that recommended turning the whole unit off for 30 minutes to allow the unit to reset itself. I turned it off for 30 minutes, then 1 hour, then overnight with no success. I called the manufacturer because it comes with a 1 year warranty but was told since the problem was not with the remote control or the power cord, the warranty had expired. Parts and labor was only covered for the first 90 days! I was smart enough (that's all relative) to purchase the extended warranty offered by the place of purchase (a different online electronics retailer) so I called to find out where I could take the unit. They told me this manufacturer did not have any repair centers in the entire state in which I lived (major metropolitan area in the east). I was told that I had to ship the unit to them for repair and they WOULD NOT cover the shipping costs. I took the unit to one of the two places STIPULATED only to be told it would cost ME $82.93 to ship 'regular ground.' I opted to take it to a local repair shop thinking it may just be cheaper to have it fixed myself. Another 1 1/2 weeks goes by only to be told by the repair shop that the entire dvd module simply gave out and needed to be replaced. I REPEAT--I have never been more disappointed with an electronic purchase in my life. If the bottom line for you is price, please, please, please consider an alternative. My kids have been without their tv/dvd for going on 2 months now! Depending on what the manufacturer tells me, I will probably end up buying a better brand for a few extra dollars!

DVD poorly integrated into TV

This TV/DVD looks nice (tho stand feels/looks cheap) but its programming makes using it a chore. Unlike separate DVD's, this one doesn't remember where you left off even if you put the TV to sleep, so you have to leave it on or search for the spot you left off. Same is true if you switch to TV, it forgets all about the DVD, and you have to wait through the whole copyright messages and previews all over again.

And waiting is a big part of this TV's experience. You have to wait about a minute for it to boot up - my computer is faster! And you have to wait a few seconds each time you change a channel.

The remote is very confusing - LOTS of identical buttons in a matrix. I ended up coloring some with a marker just to find PLAY and PAUSE in the field of grey buttons.

Good design - poorly built

This unit is a good design and produces a great picture when the picture actually displays, but this unit was poorly built. It has inputs for component video, composite video, S-video, HDMI as well as coaxial for TV tuning. The unit worked well until the picture went out when I attempted to change the channel. I attempted to remedy the problem using the troubleshooting procedures to no success. The remote was poorly designed and it has difficulty sending signals to the unit. It should have been made like a regular TV remote control, but it looks like the buttons were randomly positioned on the controller. The audio seems to work fine during TV play, but when watching a DVD with the volume up all the way, the sound is still not loud enough. For person searching for a similar unit, I recommend another brand. I really wanted this unit to work well, unfortunately it is a disappointment.

Terrible Quality Control, Ruined a little girls Christmas

Upon arival of the tiem it looked perfect. Though it was laid flat at the bottom of a box and paper protection only on the top it still had a hint of water damage on the TV's Coby box.
As it was brand new WITH QUALITY CONTROL STICKERS ALL OVER IT I had wrapped it and it sat for ther holiday.
I had gotten a call from my 11 year old's mother who had informed me that it did not even turn on (Right out of the box)Being that a licenced electrician would most likely be the one setting it up, I felt confident that it was treated more than adiquitly. I would like to mention that their is also a retired TV repair man in the family who would know more about it than anyone reading this.
I did send it back and amazon sent a replacement immediatly. I haven't checked to see if I was credited for shipping and\or if I was charged for both TV's
All in all, I think this is my last Amazon purchase. BACK TO WALLY WORLD !

P.S. if it didnt have QC (Quality control) stickers all over the box I wouldn't be as aggitated by this. It never turned on.
The next TV worked though

AVOID THIS ONE

I bought this TV on impulse at a store, without doing my usual research. I got a good price but it is still not worth it. The remote is horrible, very unresponsive, you have to have it pointed just the right way, directly in front of the TV, and even then you have to press several times before it registers. Also, when playing DVDs there are two small flashing squares close together on the lower half of the screen, each about 1/2 inch square, very distracting. 3rd, even at maximum volume it is not loud enough on its own, had to hook up aux. speakers. Because of these 3 issues I have been forced to use this only as a computer monitor and for that purpose it works fine. I had to buy a 2nd HDTV (not COBY) to use where I had intended to use this one.

Question : Where can I buy LCD panel part for my Sens 22-inch HDTV
My TV have a "whitescreen" defect (no display but the screen lights up). The local repair guy told me the LCD panel needs to be replaced. The problem with Sens is that they do not have a website with customer service and it was a mistake buying their product in the first place. I need to have my TV fixed and I need a part. Can anyone help me find it I don't mind even if it is a second-hand part.

Answer:

Question : I have a notebook and a new 22 inch hdtv that i am having trouble using as a dual monitor.
Currently, it is working as a second monitor, but the picture is blurry and appears to be zoomed in. How do I get it to look normal Also, how do I change the settings to allow me to use the new monitor as a clone of what appears on my laptop Plus, I am using a S-video connection, would it be better to use a VGA cord for a clearer pictureThank you for any helpful information

Answer:
S-Video is garbage. It jumbles all colors into one single signal line (Chroma), whereas VGA has three separate color channels (Red, Green and Blue) for better clarity.Use a standard VGA monitor cable if both your notebook and HDTV have VGA ports.
