Great Service and value
The original order was out of stock but the retailer upgraded to a newer model with more features at no extra cost. Was delivered on schedule. TV has a great picture with many nice features. I am still having a problem viewing a slideshow from USB source but am making progress. I recommend this product and retailer.

Great experience with Sony service
So far, my experience with Sony's KDL-46V4100 has been very good. Picture is excellent, after about 4 months I have had no problems.
The only dilemma I had was user error - at first I had some older DVD players which would not function on the Composite input to the TV. I finally had Sony service come out to show me that my older players, even though they had composite output, were not compatible with this television (duh). But, I had one newer player than worked just fine. Service could have charged me $100 for the visit, but they didn't, the technician was patient with my ignorance.
So I would rate my local service provider for Sony very highly. Quite a shocker.

Poor Picture quality, I can't believe it's a Sony!
This is my first Sony TV set (KDL46V4100). My wife and I chose it mainly because of Sony's reputation. We loved it so much at the beginning. But couple days after I took it home, I noticed every time I turn on the TV, only on HD channels, there are many black spots on the picture, especially on people's faces. After one hour or so, those black spots gradually disappeared. I am not sure if this is due to the cold weather. But this is Sony! It should not need warm up! My old Panasonic and Hitachi do not need, at least.
I visited sony's website and did a firmware update. It doesn't help. Since it's still under warranty, I am going to call Sony for repair/replacement, or return it to Best Buy.
Every thing else is good. But poor picture quality is enough to get this Sony a 1-star. Unbelievable!

What a great surprise!
I ordered this tv a few weeks ago because it was on sale and the shipping was going to be free for it. I had been searching around for the best deal on a quality tv for months now, and finally pulled the trigger on this one after i had done some research. To my surprise, before the day that the tv was supposed to be sent, i received a call from Home Theater Systems saying that they no longer make this tv anymore and that they would upgrade me to a current model for free. I was immediately shipped the VE5 46 Inch Bravia with everything updated such as refresh rate, more HDMI ports, and everything else. Turned out to be a $2,000 dollar tv for less than half the price. Quite a steal in my book.

Last Sony for me, terrible support, terrible features.
I got this TV for what looked at the time as a great price (sub 1k$) and I preferred Sony over other brands due to their quality reputation. It appears that Sony are producing junk. The image quality is mediocre, and the features are minimal, the menu is terrible, searching for features you endup nowhere. Sound could be better.
One point that was very important for me is support for 25fps via HDMI. While the rest of the brands support this option, Sony quantized the world into regions, and there is no way for you to play HD that was recorded outside the US. I will repeat this point as it is important: Sony HDMI would not play European standards while most of the other TVs do. I tried contacting Sony via email thinking that there should be a simple patch to correct this glich. Nada! Their support keep talking about PAL vrs. NTSC which are brodcating standards for SD, and have nothing to do with their lack of support for varrying HD frame rates.
This is my last Sony TV. They simply optimized me away!

Sony T.V.
We received our t.v. by Fed Ex in very good condition. We however thought that buying our t.v. from Amazon and what we read on the web site that there would be someone who would come and unpack the t.v. and check it out for us which did not happen. I asked the Fed Ex driver as I was siging off his paperwork if the t.v. worked knowing what his answer would be. Luckily my son was here visiting and we were able to unpack the huge box that was still banded to its pallet and sitting in the middle of our living room so we could check to make sure everything worked well. Needless to say my wife and I are very happy with the t.v. we purchased. Our previous old t.v. was also a sony and it lasted us many many years with no problems and I am hoping our new Sony t.v. will give us the same great service.

Great TV!
I did a lot of research prior to making this purchase and wanted a large TV that is reliable and looks good but that didn't empty my bank account. This is the TV I honed in on. It wasn't the newest or latest Sony yet had all the features you will need for years to come. I have had this TV for about a year now and have not had one issue with it. The picture is great (and I have never used the HD features). The sound is definitely good, but if you're a sound nerd you will probably want to have speakers connected. I don't use speakers because if I can hear clearly, then that's good enough for me. All in all, this is one of the best purchases I have made in a while.

I would recommend this TV to anyone who is thinking to buy it. Bought this from Dell and they have a great Customer service and also shipping was great. No problems from all sides. This is our first LCD and we are so pleased we bought this set. Great Features and Beautiful crisp clear picture. HD looks great..

Awesome TV
Awesome, HUGE TV at a great price. I love this TV.. One really neat thing I noticed is that when the ambient light goes up or down in the room, the brightness of the display is dynamically adjusted accordingly. Like I said, awesome. Now if only it auto-muted commercials..

52"lcd TV
A great product for a great price. The total price was even less than at Costco Wholesale. Arrived early, which was nice. The "white Glove" delivery was a big plus to me. The delivery company brought the TV in, unpacked it, checked to see that nothing was broken and hauled off the containers. All in all, a very pleasant experience. As added information, this is about my tenth purchase from Amazon.com and every one has been a very pleasant experience. About one year ago, we purchased a new PC for my Wife from Amazon.com. When it arrived, it would not boot up properly. Just displayed a RED screen, instead of the blue screen of death!! I e-mailed Amazon and they had a replacement on the way the next day, along with a shipping label to return the defective one. You can't ask for much better than that! I will not hesitate to shop with Amazon.com many times in the future!! GREAT company!!!!

Editorial Review :
Sony’s S-series TVs put amazing picture quality and stunning dynamic contrast in reach for value-oriented consumers who want to step up into the Sony Full HD 1080p experience. These TVs represent the entry-level models in Sony’s large screen offerings in 2009 and offer the superior resolution and contrast, advanced image processing features, and variety of HD input options available on high-end BRAVIA HDTVs -- all in an affordable package. With three HDMI connections, you can hook up a Sony PlayStation3 entertainment system, Blu-ray Disc player, or any other HDMI-capable equipment and get uncompressed digital video and multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. You also have numerous other HD connection options, including YPbPr Component inputs as well as a PC input for using your laptop or desktop PC with your big-screen HDTV. No matter which HD source you use, the exclusive Sony BRAVIA Engine 2 fully digital video processor ensures that images look sharp and brilliant. With BRAVIA Link compatibility, you can easily expand your high-resolution home theatre set-up with optional BRAVIA Wireless Link, BRAVIA DVD Link, or BRAVIA Input Link Modules. And BRAVIA Sync makes controlling everything a snap. Additionally, BRAVIA S-Series HDTVs exceed Energy Star 3.0 requirements by incorporating advanced power saving features such as Light Sensor technology that adjusts backlight intensity based on ambient room lighting conditions and Dynamic Backlight Control that adjusts backlight intensity based on the brightness of the image on the screen. Utilizing these features can reduce power consumption by up to 60% in a typical home theater environment.

Excellent television
After years upon years of using a standard definition telvision, I decided to foray into the world of HDTV. I was on a budget, and this item not only delivered on budget, but also on quality!
My friend has a more expensive Bravia at his home, but there are virtually no differences from either of our sets of eyes. The only differences would be the lack of some features, such as Picture-in-Picture, and a couple other minor features I don't usually see many people use.
Blu-ray discs look sharp and beautiful, as do games. Blacks and colors look excellent. I feel like I am looking at a computer screen, and indeed, I can connect my computer to the television and use it as an extended monitor. It looks stunning when I do this.
3 HDMI inputs simplify use, though I am somewhat disappointed that Bravia link doesn't seem to work with my "fat" PS3. But it's not a deal-breaker.
For under $1000, this television is definitely worth a purchase if you have some extra cash laying around and are looking to jump into the world of HD!

Incredible TV for the price
Certainly it's not the latest 120hz or LED technology but... holy balls! I got lucky and scored the display model at B*st B*y for $650!
Picture is incredible. Crisp, clear, color is very true, white balance was great out of the gate, little adjustment needed. Lots of control for color balance, gamma, backlight (VERY important in my living room with huge sliding glass door facing the sun) and all the minor tweaks.
Off-angle viewing is very good, typical wide viewing angles for LCD are there, with very little color distortion or contrast issues.
VESA 300x300 mount, you can actually get a low-profile mount at Target to fit for under $60. The frame of the TV doesn't seem very solid, once hung on the wall it vibrated quite extensively when disturbed. Beyond that, no major issues with mounting or set-up.
Not happy with 2 of the 3 HDMI ports being on the side of the TV, but that's being nit-picky. Could use a few more inputs, but if you're in the market for a TV like this, you probably have a receiver with the needed inputs (as I do). My only real complaint is the difficulty in getting through the menus for all the settings, could be quicker/better/easier interface, but again, nit-picky.
Pros; -Color gamut -White Balance and Contrast ratio -size for price -off-angle viewing
Cons; -2 of 3 HDMI ports on side of TV (minor) -Menus could be easier to navigate (minor) -Stability of frame
720p 42" Plasma or 1080p 46 KDL-46s5100? Overall, at under $800 I'd call this a no-brainer.

Excellent Quality, Excellent Price
Did tons of research before deciding on this 46" model. Video quality is superb, does excellent is most all scenarios, ok in low light scenarios. For those of us that want the video image to look a very specific way, the settings menu is very intuitive, and does lend one to go into a great deal of manual adjustments. For those out there who are a little Tech challenged, fear not, very, very easy pre-set settings are available, and TV works fine right out of the box. Audio is good not great, but to be fair this is true for almost every HD TV, especially in this price range for a 46". I've have not owned this set long enough to rate durability, but based on my experience with Sony products, I'm not losing any sleep over any potential issue, we all know Sony makes quality electronics. Still very excited about the purchase, verify satisfied customer. Will update review if anything changes, but as of right now, no hesitation in giving this TV 5 stars.

Crashes, Electronic problems
The set crashed 3 months after purchase. It was repaired, then crashed after 2 months. When it crashes, I am no longer able to receive any channel. The controls fail to work - not only the remote, but also the manual controls on the side of the set. I am only able to turn the set on and off with no picture, no sound. I am very disapppointed in Sony as I previously associated them with quality.

Really nice TV
This is a fantastic HDTV. I buy this brand because Sony has many years in the market, besides the prestige that all Sony Electronics have. Just look very good when comparing televisions at the stores, Sony has the most natural images, is neither very bright and not very dark, it's perfect! please buy a Sony will not be sorry.. One more thing.. It is light weight and very easy to move around..
