Love It

I have had this for a while now & have had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever, even with the built-in DVD player. Can't go back, my next TV will be a REGZA 1080p. When I have a room for a TV, it'll be there! HIGHLY recommend!

Beware - panel dies after almost 2 years - Rip OFF

Like others, I have owned my 32HL67U for almost 2 years. Loved it. Picture great and enjoyed it. NOW - a piece of junk. I compared my problem to others and have concluded, I need to replace it. Screen nor menus appear when I turn on. I turned it off and unplugged the inputs to no avail. DEAD TV. Pissed off. Last Toshiba for me.

Gave good service but picture gave out after 2 years

This TV gave good service for two years during which we had no problem with it. But, after 2 years, the backlight for the LCD gave out. Now, when the TV is turned on, the picture appears very briefly and then fades to black. One can still hear the sound, however. For a $750 TV, I expected a lot more than 2 years of service.

You have to be kidding me

Bought this TV for a good price but had issues with the slow powerup and slight bluriness. HOWEVER, after owning it for 20 monts (1yr 8 mos) the picture (video) went dark. Googled the problem for this model number and got crazy number of reviews that all had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Called Toshiba and took the unit to one of their authorized servicers. They called back and said the "panel" has to be replaced (that's the WHOLE TV). The quote was $1,600.00 for the repair - WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOSHIBA regardless of the quality of the picture or the features. Of course this problem occurs ONLY AFTER WARRANTY has expired

Feature are absolutely useless if the TV is dead!!!

Another unfortunate customer

Bought the Toshiba Regza 32" HDTV in January of '08 and it worked just fine until yesterday when it suddenly lost its picture. Audio works fine and I can change channels, but no picture, just a blank screen. After reading the reviews here I guess I have joined the ranks of the poor souls who paid alot of money for a TV only to have it last less than 2 years. I liked this TV until yesterday. Toshiba can kiss my you know what......I'll never buy one of their products again. Unfortunately I have another Toshiba flat screen in the bedroom.....guess I'll wait and see how long it lasts. I'm buying a new TV tonight and I'll see what can be done with the Toshiba.....maybe I'll take it back to the store and leave it in front of their door. They can use it for a door stop. Buyers.....I would consider what we are saying here.....think about it.

Toshiba 42HL167 42" Regza 1080p LCD HDTV

Customer Review :

Love It.

Bought this in December 2007, and it was money well spent. My wife wanted to upgrade from our 35" tube. I was reluctant, but am happy I went along. I had seen LCDs at friends and relatives houses, and was convinced that they were not that much better than what we had. Well they definately didn't have this.

The picture quality on the HD chanels is amazing. My wife, who does not watch sports, will watch now just to see the picture.

The sound is a little worse than what we had in our tube TV, but I knew that going in. If I want realy good sound, for a movie or music, I run it through our surround sound and its all good.

If you can find one of these at a discount for its age, you will not be dissapointed.

Screen broke for no reason after a year!

We purchased the TV brand new from our local electronics store.

After owning the TV approximately eighteen months, we awoke one morning to find the inner screen shattered. Nobody had touched it during the night and it was perfectly fine the night before.

The extended warranty we had purchased for the TV was useless as the warranty company refused to fix the TV because they said we must have abused the TV.

So, we wasted almost $2000 for a television that lasted a year and a half.

We will never buy another Panasonic TV or LCD TV. We went with plasma for the replacement television.

I like everything but these dark lines on the screen

Ours is 2 years old and has had a dark line down the middle for about a year. Now it has one on either side of the screen, too, and the one in the middle is getting darker.

Great Picture

Well defined picture in HD, very useful and convenient remote especially with cable service. Toddler has touched screen and left marks we are unable to remove- tough to clean screen.

Own it for now 3 years

This is a really good TV. But buy a newer one. This on was made in 2007. And now we have 2010.

Bob

My Sony Wega 50" was dying (some sort of mirror issue causing blue streaks in the picture. Its apparently very prevelant in this model, but I have not gotten much response from Sony for a post warranty fix and from what hear its close to $1000 to repair). I was also 2 years + into my second bulb ($400). So I've had my eye out for a larger HD tv for several months now. I dont need PIP (comes with brighthouse DVR) and dont really care about sound since I pipe the cable/DVD audio to my reciever. I was just looking for a big, clear 1080p set. I saw this model in this week's circuit city flyer (Jan 27, 2008) for $1399!. I got the tape measure out to make sure it would fit in my built-in media space and went to CC to check it out. With standard HD inputs (probably 1080i). This set appeared to have the best picture of all the projection units on the wall (with the exception of a Mitubisi 75" unit that the salesman said was playing a 1080p HD DVD). I measured it out, and with my existing tv stand it fit in the media space with about 1 inch to spare on all sides. We loaded it my truck and took it home. In 20 minutes I had it fired up (well, almost, I needed to go buy an HDMI cable for $35). I've only got 1 day on it, but its a stunning picture and makes a huge difference from my 50" Sony. My viewing distance is probably longer than most (maybe 15' to the couch)

Anyway, if you are looking for a decent DLP set with a big picture and dont need a lot of useless bells and whistles get down to CC and check this one out.
For $1600 I'd probably look around a bit more, but at $1399 this set tripped my price trigger and I'm quite happy with it.

Best 1080P for the price

I bought this hdtv in August 2007 after shopping for a hdtv for about 2 and a half years, mainly waiting for prices to drop and for 1080p models to come out instead of then current 720p models. It has been 5 months and I have NO bulb issues as of yet, but I have the bulb set to low power and do not turn it off and on frequently. The 1080p display is wonderful with an HDMI cable, I have this oneInspire 1080p (6.6ft) 2M HDMI PS3 Cable 1.3b Certified. Screen size is just the right size for watching football and using a PS3 for both gaming and Blu-ray movies. The HDMI inputs on this set are 1.3 even though it is not mentioned anywhere in the description. I am happy with my Toshiba.

Absolutely phenomenal!!!

This television is absolutely phenomenal!! The clarity is unbelievable and it is very easy to set up as well as navigate the menus. I strongly recommend buying generic HDMI cables as I have seen no noticeable difference between the so called "high quality" ones and the generic. PS3 and my HD-DVD players both look great. Playing the Nintendo Wii is an experience all in its own. The set has a multitude of options for connecting any device you can think of except S-video but honestly, who ever used S-video? Can't say enough great things about this set. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent purchase

This is my first HDTV. It's huge! I am very happy with it. I researched a lot of HDTV's before choosing this one. I already own a Toshiba Theater view, which I am also happy with, I purchased years ago, so I trust the name. I use it for gaming as well, and it looks great. My HD channels are sparkling sharp, when they are broad casted correctly, of course. 1080p ready for the future. Plenty of ports for me. WOW sound really does make a difference. Delivery was excellent! No complaints.

Nice Picture on this 65" Set

First let me say I am a Toshiba fan. I have 3 other Toshiba tube units, one 15 years old and still running.

So far so good very good picture and a pleasure to watch. I bought mine late November 2007 and added a HD Sat Receiver mid December. To really appreciate this set you must have a HD receiver pushing HD. If you are not watching HD then you are stretching your standard def picture to 65".

This unit has 3 HDMI inputs that makes playing XBox 360 and Playstation 3 a very easy experience switching sources and one HDMI for other expansion.

Now if I do not run into bulb issues this set will be perfect.

Question : why is my new laptop taking so long on its first start up
i turned it on, it was taking sort of long to load it up at first, that it said " system is setting up, may take a few min. May restart" its been on that screen for 30-35, few min my ass. I just bought it an hour ago and rushed home to start it. its windows vista home premium, 2 gb ram, 160 hd, 1.9ghz Toshiba Satellite L300d-01n kit. If i've known better i'd say this is the work of lex luther...that green bar is still moving as i write this, but its been about 30 min wtfits working Just needed some time and a bit of loviing i guess

Answer:
Just wait, new computers can often take some time to set up.

Question : 2005 Toshiba TV picture problem.
I have a 2005 Toshiba TV. When we first got it it worked perfect. A while ago it started having a 1/2 to 1 inch line on the top of the screen. I have Cable, with the SD channels it shows the lines but in the HD one it perfect. I would just watch it all in HD but i only have a few HD channels. Also, anything that's widescreen on DVDs are perfect but full screen do the same. Any help

Answer:
That MIGHT be an aspect ratio / Format setting that is active in SD mode instead of HD mode.Go to a bad SD picture that shows the lines and see if you can switch the Format/Aspect control to make that disappear. If not, then you may have to have a TV Tech come out and MAYBE adjust the Vertical Height setting.
