A perfect complement to Blu-ray Disc format movies and advanced gaming platforms, this slim, surround sound receiver system offers simplicity in set-up and connectivity. Experience the full benefit Blu-ray Disc technology sound was developed for with three HDMI inputs. Connect HD sources with a single cable and directly access them through the systems remote contro. One button control is also available with BRAVIA Sync technology and the system cosmetically compliments Blu-ray Disc players and TVs.

Great choice for the budget-minded.

This system is perfect for those of us looking for a decent surround system but not looking to spend an absurd amount of money. The system is clean and sharp looking, sounds excellent (for the price), and was extremely easy to setup. I opened the box + skimmed through the manual and had it all done in about 45 minutes. Once I got the speaker levels and sound field programmed to my preference (the subwoofer was at max volume straight out of the box) I was in business.

The system comes with plenty of speaker wire, at least it was plenty enough for me. You could easily splice more if you need. The setup for levels, tones, etc. is done on the receiver itself but that's absolutely no problem, it's very clear and simple to use. I loved the included auto calibrating microphone, big plus. It says it emits a loud sound when calibrating but like another reviewer said it's not very loud at all.

Anyways, this was a treat to setup and use. I've come to expect little hitches here and there when setting up systems with so many wires and whatnot but this system was so simple to connect that I had zero problems. It worked just like it should, straight out of the box. A+

Good product, good sound.

Sony still makes a good product. Defintely like the single HDMI hookup. Only problem is my motorola HD DVR cable box from Comcast doesn't play well with the HDMI connection. The cable signal will drop off after about 30 secs to 1 minute. Seems to be the copy protection from Comcast that is causing the problem. I haven't spent much time digging into it though as the TV speakers on my TV are sufficient for TV. DVDs are where this setup is primary for me. Ease of use and setup are likely skewed higher since I am a geek. A novice could easily get frustrated. But that goes for just about all home theater setups.

Amazing sound, very affordable, looks sleek and sexy

I never review items I purchase, but this home theater system is awesome. I researched many other potential ht systems around the $300-400 price range, and this seemed to be the best deal for my money. I honestly have to say that I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this system to anyone looking into a ht unit. The sound is very good with an amazing amount of bass. I had to tweak each one of the speakers to my preference and once I did I was blown away on how much clarity and depth I was missing out of my blu-ray movies. I love that the receiver is slim and compact along with color coordinating speaker wires which makes clutter in my t.v stand obsolete. Overall I am very satisfied with this unit and for those looking into purchasing the Sony HTSS360, please do yourself a favor and pick this baby up!

What a system for the money you spend!

Hey if you are reading this that means you are looking for a honest an decent review, well here it goes... The system is very easy to setup had it done in about 30 minutes with decent wiring job... The wires came color coded even a non tech person can figure it out and everything is labeled pretty clearly. Connected my PS3 and Samsung LN46a750 HDTV and everything synced with no problems once everything was on i put the calibration mic by my sitting area about ear level and 20 seconds later system calibrated... Its says the calibration test is loud trust me its no louder than what you listen to your T.V. normally on a afternoon. No later than 10 minutes later i was playing Bad Company 2 in full surround sound and loving every minute of it. then i put on Batman Dark knight and you can hear the detail from glass shattering from gun fire to batman's cape flapping in the wind from the back speakers sounding like if you were flying with him its awesome... one nice feature is the devices connected through the receiver will let your tv speakers play sound even if the receiver is powered off which i found good when you don't need surround sound... one thing that is negative about this unit is the fact that there is no GUI menu and in non tech talk that means any settings you want to change have to be done by reading the display off the receiver but its pretty straight forward if you read the manual real quick... I would have to say if you can get this under $300 it is a good deal...

Disappointment, frustration and money garnetted

My disappointment with this product was so great that I almost cried with anger.
When hosted the merchandise, I thought it was great quality, but to mount and continue the use of the first field again, comes the disappointment ...
Only 2 channels working, tried very hard to make the other caxas worked, but it was just waste of time.
I do not advise anyone to buy this product because anger have a big headache.
I sent email to the central service and support, but two weeks passed and I did not return.
I do not know what I do.

Good Deal for a small price

I bought this one for [...] bucks and its worth that much..
Was difficult to configure to make it work with my laptop/ipod for 2 channel output. Apart from that, configuration was walk in the park....

My TV'S LOUDER!!!

I bought a RV In 2008 that had a coby surround sound it and for the most part am very pleased with it. But this particular Coby home theater system is not half as good as the one I already have. I've always said you pay for what you get and that couldnt be more true for this product. I am EXTREMELY disatisfied! My 26" vizio tv is louder than when I turn the coby ALL the way up. And I had to take the screen off the sub to and feel the speaker just to know that it is working! No air blows out of the port or anything, and again what do expect for [...] bucks? Everything else about I do like. Just the sound quality really stinks!

Very good service and shipping!!!

Item works well, even though for 600 watts I would had expected a lil bit more punch. However, is a good item and shipping was very good!!

The compact, award-winning Prestige 5 home theater system features a sophisticated high-gloss black lacquer finish and utilizes exclusive technologies for an enveloping home theater experience like no other.Consisting of four Nanosat Prestige satellites and a Nano center channel, the Prestige 5 utilizes patented Omnipolar technology to disperse sound in a completely immersive 360-degree pattern. In other words, these miniature marvels perfectly recreate the experience of a live event. The simple, ingenious, saucer-shaped deflector suspended over the midrange and tweeter, called an omniguide, makes it possible. It distributes uniform tonal balance for non-oppressive sound, making the entire room the sweet spot. For increased low-frequency response, the Prestige S10 and S8 subwoofers let homeowners hear and feel dynamic music and movie content. While these models differ in driver size and power, they both feature patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround technology, a design that eliminates surround distortion, enabling the subwoofer to play lower with greater output and fidelity. The Prestige 5 not only lets consumers enjoy a big theater experience at home, they are elegantly crafted and feature a modern, beautiful finish that adds a splash of sophistication to any room. A disappointment

I bought this speaker set from Amazon Marketplace in May 2009 and connected it to my Denon receiver. It certainly gave a better performance as compared to my old sony (an inexpensive set) speakers. However, in November the center channel speaker started giving muffled sound. I could hardly hear the dialogue from Blue Ray movies. I contacted the sellers and they referred me to the manufactureres. My experience with them was not very pleasant. The manufacturers ultimately referred me to a third party service center who were quite unprofessional. The bottomline is that after paying more that $700 on a set of speakers, we should get quality performance. The manufacturers should improve the quality of their products as well as service.

good surround effect and clear dialog

I used the center speaker and two 2 Nanosat prestige as the surround speakers. The surround effect is great. I can feel the chopper flying around when I watch "GI Joe" movie at home. The center speaker also deliver clear dialog.

Great speakers in general.

Great Speakers!

These speakers are great... i got them at Best Buy 50% off. I think for $460 its definately worth the price. but at full price, ($900+) i probably wouldnt go with these considering you have to purchase the subwoofer separately (another $360). in that case i would go with Definitive Technologies ProCinema 600. the sound was just a little better and for $799 u get the 5.1 instead of the 5.0.
But price aside, these are great!

Amazing sound from small speakers

I bought these speakers for my home theater system which consists of Yamaha RX-V663BL 665 Watt 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver and Velodyne DEQ-10R 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer (Black) I didn't have the floor space for big speakers because of the many doors and other furniture in the room but was concerned that these speakers wouldn't be powerful enough to fill our family room/kitchen combination. It's like a double room with the family room on one end and the kitchen on the other, covering about 42 x 24 feet. There are lots of windows and doors one one side which makes the room an acoustical nightmare. We have the rear speakers placed about halfway back, the length of the room.

But I needn't have worried because these speakers do a fantastic job despite their small size. I bought Mirage MS-STB-1 Nanosat speaker stands Black for the front speakers and mounted the rear ones on the wall with the mounting brackets that are included. The first night we hooked the whole system I realized that I bought the wrong Y connector to connect this subwoofer to my receiver so we had to watch a movie without it. The sound with just these speakers was still very good even without a subwoofer. Compared to the Bose satellite speakers that I had before, these were much better. I realized that the reason I couldn't hear what people were saying in the movies wasn't because we had the volume too low or just the acoustics, but because the sound wasn't as crisp and clear as it was with these speakers. I could actually turn the sound way down and still hear conversations. The sound was also great when we turned up the volume. There was a movie with a plane going across the screen and my sister was upstairs and said it sounded like the plane was going across the room, beneath the floor. She said she could feel the vibration in the floorboards. (This was the next day with the subwoofer hooked up).

The sound was amazingly realistic. There was a scene in the movie where a door was opening, far to the left of where the speaker is placed. The door sounded just like the door in our family room and it made me jump because I thought somebody had opened the door. These speakers really make you feel like you're in the middle of the movie rather than just watching it. With the previous Bose system (which I thought sounded great at the time) I would hear the sound coming from the speakers, mostly. With these Mirage speakers, the sound is just there, in appropriate places. I finally know what real "surround sound" sounds like.

Two thumbs up for these speakers. Anything that can sound great in this acoustical nightmare of a room has to be good.

Question : What is a heating degree day and a cooling degree day
I hear about how many heating degree days and cooling degree day every day. What are they, and how are they calculated

Answer:
Heating degree days are the amount by which the "average temperature" was below a reference temperature on a given day. Cooling degree days are the amount by which the average temperature was above the reference value. This may sound a little complicated, but it isn't. Degree days correspond to how much you'd need to run your heater or air conditioner on a given day to hold the ideal temperature. Heating degree days mean it was a little colder than your reference temperature, so you had to run your heater. More degree days, more heat needed. The typical reference value in the United States is 65 degrees Fahrenheit. For example, if you like your house to be 65 degrees, and the average temperature in a day is 50, then there are 15 heating degree days (65 - 50) on that day. These are simple ways to make estimates on power usage and HVAC requirements for buildings.
