Basically I've done hours of research on different types of LCD's. I have came done to instead of spending the extra money not just buy a cheap 32in LCD HDTV on black friday then in two years sell that and buy a nice 37in.Do you think it would be worth the wait?

We just purchased a Sony 40" HDTV LCD 1080p. We have a pioneer DVD surrond system and a phillips DVR. What is the easiest way to have this system setup in HD and what do I need to get this done. I am not sure if my DVR is HD but we just got it about 2yrs ago from Directv brand new. Thanks!

Try to connect your DVD to your TV using HDMI cables, and make sure your Pioneer DVD have HDMI output, and about your DVR i think you can't go HD with it.

Question : How well does a lcd hdtv work as a computer monitor?
A lcd hdtv i am buying has a computer input. Will it look just as good as my computer monitor? it would save me some space.

It may depend on the make, but it will work well as a computer monitor.I got my laptop hooked up to my LCD TV using an inexpensive VGA cable (same as the cable from your CPU to the computer monitor) to view my jpeg digital pictures. I could use the mouse to find my photo directories, veiw photos as a slide, etc.When I hooked up the cable, I had the option of using the TV as the computer monitor or have both the laptop screen and the TV display on.

If you are adept at electronics repair and have all of the necessary tools, the reference in the other answer is a good one. But in my experience, the people who have the necessary experience to take on a job like this don't have to ask where to obtain parts. This may be something that you need a professional technician or a very capable do-it-yourselfer to help you with. Good luck.

Question : What cables do i need to hook up my computer to my lcd hdtv??
i have an olevia lcd hdtv with hdmi, component, dvi, and vga inputs. my computer only has a vga output. do i just use vga to vga? or would convering it help? what about the sound? stereo mini jack??

yes vga to vga will work for the video but you need to get a rca to 1/8" jack y cable to get your left and right audio, and make sure its a stereo jack not mono, and you should be fine.

UPS or FEDEX is fine. Just make sure you get alot of padding and bubble wrap!!! LCD is not as fragil as Plasma.

With all other aspects being about the same except price, I was trying to compare a 40" Sony flat panel to a Sony LCD of the same dimensions. Which one has a better picture or some quality that makes it noticeably better than the other? Due to not presently being able to view them side by side in a store, I am trying to compare what I can via online shopping. LCD is a type of flat panel HDTV. I guess you mean LCD vs Plasma. Here are some pros & cons of themPros of Plasma- Better contrast ratio- better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth, - better motion tracking (response time)- more availability in very large screen sizes. Cons of Plasma - more susceptible to burn-in (although this is not as much of a factor now, due to technology improvements in the past few years)- more heat generation (as well as more power consumption)- screen glare in brightly lit rooms- heavier weight, and more delicate to ship.
