Absolutely Amazing!

I had purchased this TV mount for my brand new 40" Sony Bravia LCD. It qualified for Amazon Prime so I recieved it within 2 days and it came in a big somewhat banged up box. At first glance, I said to myself, oh no, here we go. But upon opening the first box, was another box inside of it, compeltely undamaged and protected by paper packaging, which made me feel good.

On to the installation. Ok, upon opening the level mount box, you immediately notice that there is one large, already assempled bracket, two tv bracket arms, and a bunch of screws, remote control, stud finder (which didn't work at all), and installation instructions. Luckily I had my own stud finder, plus the tried and true method of hammering nails till I found a stud (Which is very effective since the holes were going to be covered by the bracket anyways. The unit only mounts to 1 stud so it is extremely important that the mounting holes are as close to the stud centers as possible. So I picked up the relatively heavy mounting assembly, pressed it up against the wall to determine the height I wanted it to rest, then used it to trace the mounting holes. Then I set down the bracket, drilled the holes as instructed and used a socket wrench to screw in these 1/4" mounting bolts (Serious bolts). Once you installed the top bolt, then you hang the bracket on the bolt and then proceed to install the lower bolt with the mount in place. 2 bolts, thats it.

Next was installing the tv bracket arms to my Sony which was a little more tricky then expected. Levelmount supplies you with about 5 sets of different screws to use for all different Tv's. The ones meant for Sony's appeared not long enough for my liking, and being the ever handy man, had a set of metric bolts so I could substitute a better fit screw in for the supplied ones.

After applying some weight to the mount on the wall, in order to convince myself that my $$$$ TV was not going to fall and shatter, I went ahead and installed the TV to the mount, effortlessly.

For my particular setup (where all audio/video equipment is hidden in a closet out of view), I drilled a 2" diameter hole adjacent to the mount to allow the Level mount power cable along with audio and video cables to pass through the wall unseen to the naked eye.

* Now for my overall review of the unit...

For starters, the price was killer, almost the same as a standard non-tilting, non-motorized bracket at Best Buy would have cost.

The installation although in my case took about 1-2 hours (mostly due to the compelxity of my setup and just be extra cautious) was relatively easy and the instructions were for the most part easy and straight forward.

I have had this bracket for 4 months and it works phenominal. There are few things I have purchased over the years that I felt I lucked out on and just got a great deal, and this Level Mount is one of those items.

It allows us to swivel the set to watch while preparing meals in the kitchen, swivel the other way to allow me to sit in my recliner while playing Xbox, PLUS it stows away into a nice, TIGHT, package with a clean look.

Losing our entertainment center for this mount allowed us to gain 15" of walking space in an already tight apartment. If you want to gain floor space, while still have the ability to rotate/tilt your TV, this stand is perfect for you.

CONS: The only con I have is that the remote is a little flimsy, and the connection between the batteries and the battery prongs is a little loose causing the mount not to respond to button presses, however a good swift smack with my hand usually re-establishes the connection and smooth sailing after that. It could just be the cheap off-brand batteries that were supplied, so buying new AAA's might fix this one and only con.

Hope it helps, you won't be disappointed

So far so good BUT (!) .....

I've unboxed and tested the unit's motors (for extension, pan and tilt) and everything is working, thus far, as described. However, while both the information here on Amazon and the installation manual list 100 lbs. as the maximum allowable t.v. weight, a sticker on the actual unit READS 80 POUNDS!!!! Lucky for me that my 42" TV is 75 lbs. sans speakers (81.2 with speakers attached) so I'm playing it safe. But if your TV is over 80 lbs, well, I'm unclear on which is correct...the sticker on the unit or the installation guide.

As my research on motorized wall units has turned up a plethora of units with burned out motors, I was skeptical of this inexpensive unit, but went ahead with the purchase as an xmas gift with the comfort afforded by purchasing it through Amazon. Seeing the conflicting weight limits has renewed, perhaps unjustifiably, my apprehension.

I'll write again if/when I Scully up an answer on the weight limit, and later when I can give a reliability/performance report.

Very pleased with product and service!

First, the motorized wall mount surpasses our expectations. It works almost silently as it smoothly moves our 37" Vizio flatscreen HD television through the various positions possible with the unit. It allows the television to be seen clearly from every seat in our family/media room. The unit rates extremely high on the "coolness" chart as well. Our friends have seen it work and went from a skeptical "what now..." attitude to one of "that's cool".
I am very pleased with the ease we had in installing it. The hardware we needed (as well as that for many other televisions) was included, including a unique but reliable studfinder that doesn't rely upon finding nail heads in the studs under the sheetrock to identify each stud.
Here's the kicker... there was a component in the set we got that didn't work after an initial effort. I called the 24 hour help line, and got a very pleasant young lady who tried to assist, but couldn't. She notified their technicians and they sent the new part to me which arrived at our home just 6 days after my first call. This may sound like a long time, but they sent it two day fed ex, and spared no expense getting the package to us as soon as possible.
Now, the wall mount works perfectly (and was perfectly easy to install) and I know that I can rely on the sales, marketing, and engineering people at Elexa Consumer Products to take care of things professionally and swiftly should we have any other problems in the future, which I do not anticipate.

Questions & Answers
Question : Should I wait to buy a nice an LCD HDTV or go big now?
Basically I've done hours of research on different types of LCD's. I have came done to instead of spending the extra money not just buy a cheap 32in LCD HDTV on black friday then in two years sell that and buy a nice 37in.Do you think it would be worth the wait?

Answer:
nope been there done that, once you have your tv your going to regret going to small! and like they say go big or go home!

Question : How do I make my LCD HDTV clear?
I just bought an LCD HDTV, and I am using regular comcast cable. The picture is not clear. I believe I need an hd tuner or something, but the picture is really grainy. Do I have to subscribe to hdtv, or just get a tuner, or both? FYI, the quality is pretty bad right now with niether a tuner or a subscription to hdtv. I'm confused.

Answer:
Do you have a HD cable box ? If not you need to go and get one. Without the HD box there is no HD signal. You get the Box from your cable provider.

Question : What cables do I need for my LCD HDTV and Home Theater System?
What cables do I need for my LCD HDTV and Home Theater System?both are from Samsung.I also have a Cable Box...I currently have:2 HDMI cables1 Optical cableIs that enough?Thanks...!

Answer:
a little more info is needed. 1) avail ports on HDTV2) avail ports on Receiver (if used) a) does receiver have HDMI Switch? (From device to TV) b) Optical not needed if using Pure HDMI connectionplease let us know what your are trying to wire up. PS3, ect...

Question : What do you think of the brand LG when it comes to lcd hdtv's?
Im looking to purchaseing a 26" LCD HDTV, but i really dont know what brand to purchase. I looked at a LG and noticed the picture quality looked pretty good. It had good color, but dont know if its a good brand over all.

Answer:
the sd picture on your 26" will look good, maybe a little foggy. Use the S-video input for the best results. I would avoid the HD programming option on a set that small because the HD resolution doesn't really shine until a 40" screen but that's with my eyes your results may vary

Question : How do I hook up a insignia lcd hdtv mounted on my wall to my xbox360 which is connect to suround sound and...
How do I hook up a insignia lcd hdtv mounted on my wall to my xbox360 which is connect to suround sound and to the xbox brand hd dvd player????

Answer:
Just use wires. It is like hooking up any other TV that is not on the wall. You can let them hang down and have a very unprofessional look or you can buy wires that are rated to go in the wall (make sure they are to avoid any code violations or insurance issues later) and then it will look more professional. Either way, you cannot run the power cord through the wall by law. Your best bet is, depending on the type of surround sound receiver you have, is to run all the wires into that and then 1 wire out to the TV.

Question : Can my lcd hdtv survive out in my shed over the winter?
I want to put my lcd hdtv out in my shed. I want to watch tv out there when i work on my snowmobile, but im not sure if the tv will be ok if left out there. I will heat the shed when out there, but not when im out there. The shed is fully weaterproof, but will still reach extreamly low temperatures.

Answer:
The lowest of the low temperatures I saw (and this is brand, model and size dependent) was -22 degrees Fahrenheit. I wouldn't do it! Put a CRT out there, they can handle it, and if it dies....oh well. Don't hurt your HDTV if it means that much to you!-Nick

Question : How can i connect a laptop to an lcd hdtv?
I have a visio lcd hdtv. I got a dell inspiron 9200 laptop and i want to hook my laptop up to the tv to watch videos that are on my laptop. the laptop has an s video output but i cant find an hdmi, only a dvi video connecter. if i use an svideo connecter will the quality of the movie or video be worse or better or the same on the tv as the computer

Answer:
if you're thinking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first. they give you a sony vaio laptop for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.

Question : help me please! I need to get the best quality possible on my lcd hdtv monitor?
I can do up to 1080i on the lcd hdtv monitor, but when I check the little tv icon at the bottom of my screen, it says I'm getting 54Mps. What's the conversion rate and how do I get it to be the best quality?

Answer:
Sounds like your low on blinker fluid. Open up your control panel (its in System Preferences) and poor 2 ounces directly onto the computer. This will allow the conversion from the 54mbs you are getting from the intergoogles to transduce to the 1080p signal you are looking for. Once this is done, you will need to restart the computer while holding command+shift+P+R+esc+option+start while staring directly into the sun and shaking your left foot. This will boot you into "Awesome" mode. Then you can make the changes you need in "Displays" (located in Control Panel).

Question : Can I use a 1080p lcd hdtv as a pc monitor picture-quality wise?
I know that I can plug it in. But what about using say a 40" 1080p lcd hdtv as a montitor? Would it look as crisp as the 24" viewsonic I have now? Should I stick with lcd's that are MADE to be pc monitors? Thanks!

Answer:
I use my 52" Sony Bravia LCD HDTV as a computer monitor. It's connected to my computer using a DVI-to-HDMI cable, displaying 1080p HIgh Definition (1920x1080 resolution). And it looks fabulous. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpgThe text is razor-sharp, the graphics clear and vivid. I can't be happier with the result.A lot depends on the quality of the TV set. An upper-end set like a Sony Bravia or Sharp Aquos will look nice. Lower-end sets might not look as nice.Hope this helps.

Question : How close can my LCD HDTV be to my large home stereo speakers?
I have a rather small living room and I am wondering how close my LCD HDTV can be to my large home stereo speakers. When I move our older (non HD) TV too close (about 12") to our home stereo speakers the screen gets green spots and distortion. I am wondering if being too close to a large speaker will hurt or interfere with the HDTV. Thanks!

Answer:
LCD TVs are not affected by magnets. Put the speakers where you want. You only have to worry about magnetic fields with CRT (Picture Tube) TVs.
