LCD TV and plasma TV are the two different type of TV . plasma TV is a very huge up about 50inch , as LCD are smaller TV not more than 40inch . and the lifespans of Plasma TV also slighly shorter and power rating also higher than LCD TV , this is what I knew so far .

Im looking to purchaseing a 26" LCD HDTV, but i really dont know what brand to purchase. I looked at a LG and noticed the picture quality looked pretty good. It had good color, but dont know if its a good brand over all.

the sd picture on your 26" will look good, maybe a little foggy. Use the S-video input for the best results. I would avoid the HD programming option on a set that small because the HD resolution doesn't really shine until a 40" screen but that's with my eyes your results may vary

With all other aspects being about the same except price, I was trying to compare a 40" Sony flat panel to a Sony LCD of the same dimensions. Which one has a better picture or some quality that makes it noticeably better than the other? Due to not presently being able to view them side by side in a store, I am trying to compare what I can via online shopping. LCD is a type of flat panel HDTV. I guess you mean LCD vs Plasma. Here are some pros & cons of themPros of Plasma- Better contrast ratio- better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth, - better motion tracking (response time)- more availability in very large screen sizes. Cons of Plasma - more susceptible to burn-in (although this is not as much of a factor now, due to technology improvements in the past few years)- more heat generation (as well as more power consumption)- screen glare in brightly lit rooms- heavier weight, and more delicate to ship. Does anyone know how to turn the speakers off on a samsung lcd hdtv? I have a sony surround system hooked up to it and the only way I can get the full effect out of my system is to turn the speakers off on the tv. Does anyone know how to do this?

Menuaudio settingsthe menu is actually set up to ask you if you are going to use surround sound, come to think of it, if you have a HDtv just mute the dang thing and use audio out from your HD receiver or the DVD player when not watching local on air TV , cuz that is only broadcast in stereo.
