Solid mount / hard to center

Overall this is a great quality mount. I have installed articulating arms before on everything from a 22" to a 50" flat panel. The arms are hard to keep level as you move the TV around. They usually sag a bit and look just a bit off level. Now that I have found Omnimount, I will try to use it from now on. I am pretty good at figuring out installs like this, but the directions were pretty good for the less than engineerish person. There are plenty of pictures and diagrams. I recently mounted a 32" flat in a bedroom. I am always weary of mounting expensive or heavy things using any kind of drywall anchor. This one I tried to pick the best stud that would put the TV closest to center of the wall. Swinging it to both sides to see which was better, I had to settle on a few inches off center. The problem is the wall mount part uses one vertical member to bolt to the wall. Other flat mounts (tilts up and down only) span studs with 2 to 4 anchor points. You can usually catch a stud on one or both sides, then the carriage (part the TV mounts to) can slide on that wall mounted portion. This lets you center the TV perfectly.
If you can have faith in a hollow wall anchor, or even better, have the luck to have solid material like plywood built behind your wall, and you can mount the vertical member perfectly, this is the best mount I've seen.

Good product. Great value.

I saw the Omnimount product in a store and it was a cheaper alternative to other mounting products. Then I saw it on Amazon where it was nearly half the price of the retail store. The installation was easy. I was lucky because I had studs in the right place. The narrow, single file design of the mount may not be ideal for someone whose studs are in the wrong place. I am hanging a 32" Sony LCD on the mount and have no concerns about the durability or strength of the mount. The cord hiding "system" on the mount isn't so much a system as a really short tunnel in which to run the cables. The TV and length of the cables I used do more to hide the cables than the "system." Overall, great price and a surdy product.

This mount does not fit my 42" Phillips LCD even though it says that it fits 23" to 46" models

I bought this wall mount for my 42" Phillips LCD TV and 15 minutes later, I decided to find out what hardware came with the mount so I could purchase anything that I might need to buy before the item was delivered. I went to the manufacturer's website and discovered that this model will not work with my TV: I ned a different model. I immediately contacted Amazon and got the usual customer assistance located in India. they may be able to speak the correct words in English but they sure as hell don't understand what you're saying most of the time. They informed me that the item was already being prepared for shipment and that I would have to refuse the package when it arrived from UPS since I could not cancel the order. This makes no sense to me since I called within 20 minutes of placing the order and they had not shipped the item yet. So, I sent an email to Amazon and received a response from someone in India saying the same thing that the man in India had told me. Five days later, the item shipped and it will arrive tomorrow. So now, I have to return the item (at no expense to me) to Amazon and get my credit card credited back because Amazon has this idiotic way of doing things where you can't cancel the order after you place the order. Yes, I'm not out any money but it's aggravating, none the less. Moral of the story: Make sure that the wall mount will fit your tv by going to the manufacturer's site before you buy. DO NOT rely on the description from Amazon because in my case, it was incorrect.

This one did the trick, Aquos has an odd mount patern

Bought a mount and a new Aquos. the vesa standard mount patterns are 100, 200, 400 mm, ect. this Aquos TV I bought is 440. So, I had to get a universal mount. I works great and is very well constructed, great hardware kit included and ok instructions. I had it up in a matter of minutes. How cool to have the tv on the wall.

    Best/stongest mount there is!

As a structural engineer I have had to specify TV mounts for health care facilities I have designed in the state of California. Peerless is one of the few manufacturers to have tested mounts for seismic forces and provide pre-approved details (disclaimer: I do not believe they have this certification for this particular mount but generally lighter pieces of equipment do not require it). This gave me confidence in buying from their product line. I know from installing this and the larger version for 52" flat panel that these mounts support quite a bit of weight, provided you get the lag screws into the center of your wood wall studs. I recommend that after you find the stud (using a stud finder, rare earth magnet, whatever you prefer) you take a small finish nail and poke it through the drywall at several locations to get the exact width extents of the stud. Your mount will cover the small holes and doing so will get you more capacity than ever necessary for an LCD (I hung off my larger one prior to putting the TV on it, 200lbs!!).

This particular mount has a zero-force tilt mechanism, meaning the TV is balanced and will not tilt down by itself when the adjustment levers are loosened. It is easy to tilt the TV up (for somewhat better access to cabling) or down as required. I prefer the mounts with the secure Allen wrench screws, which this model has (the other PT models have regular screws). The kit comes with the necessary tool for these and it is the proper length to reach behind the TV depending on the mount. It is just another level of security as the TV is not coming off the wall without the special tool.

All in all a great mount, very sturdy, and straight forward installation. Well worth the cost when bought at online prices.

    Questions & Answers
Question : What does hdmi cable do for a 32 inch lcd hdtv?
I just got a new panasonice lcd hdtv 32 inches 720p. What would the benifits of getting an hdmi cable be for watching dvds and cable

    Answer:
HDMI delivers uncompressed digital video and audio to the TV from another device. Since the audio and video will be kept digital the whole way, this should produce the best picture the device (cable box, DVD player, etc.) is capable of making.Remember, even though the connection is HDMI, if the video is not HD to begin with and the device is not HD, you still won't get HD. Everything has to be HD from start to finish if you want an HD picture.

Question : How can i connect a laptop to an lcd hdtv?
I have a visio lcd hdtv. I got a dell inspiron 9200 laptop and i want to hook my laptop up to the tv to watch videos that are on my laptop. the laptop has an s video output but i cant find an hdmi, only a dvi video connecter. if i use an svideo connecter will the quality of the movie or video be worse or better or the same on the tv as the computer

    Answer:
if you're thinking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first. they give you a sony vaio laptop for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.

Question : What are these dots on my lcd hdtv?
I purchased a used vizio lcd hdtv from craigslist and didn't notice the dots until after I purchased it. It's only noticable with bright colors on the screen. On one side of the screen there's about 20-25 dark dots. Should I try reselling the tv, or try returning it at a local store?

    Answer:
It could be dead pixels, but I have not seen that happen since many years ago. So it could just be dirt on the screen, or splatters from soda pop, beer, etc. So first try cleaning the screen with a soft cloth dampened with plain water.I doubt if you can return it to a local store you did not buy it from without a receipt.

Question : Where can I get a filter capacitor for a ProScan lcd hdtv?
And how much does it cost? I am thinking about buying it from my friend for real cheap. It's a 42" 1080p 720 lcd hdtv. I need to know how much the part is and where I can get it at.

    Answer:
If you are adept at electronics repair and have all of the necessary tools, the reference in the other answer is a good one. But in my experience, the people who have the necessary experience to take on a job like this don't have to ask where to obtain parts. This may be something that you need a professional technician or a very capable do-it-yourselfer to help you with. Good luck.

Question : Can my lcd hdtv survive out in my shed over the winter?
I want to put my lcd hdtv out in my shed. I want to watch tv out there when i work on my snowmobile, but im not sure if the tv will be ok if left out there. I will heat the shed when out there, but not when im out there. The shed is fully weaterproof, but will still reach extreamly low temperatures.

    Answer:
The lowest of the low temperatures I saw (and this is brand, model and size dependent) was -22 degrees Fahrenheit. I wouldn't do it! Put a CRT out there, they can handle it, and if it dies....oh well. Don't hurt your HDTV if it means that much to you!-Nick

Question : Why does my LCD HDTV have black bars on the left and right sides of the screen?
I have a 32'' widescreen audiovox LCD HDTV. I also own a comcast digital cable box, which we used to view hi-def programs through component cables. We recently got a dvi cable and now sandard-def programs have black bars on the left and right of the screen. Th HD is fine,no black bars. But standard-def channels now have black bars on the left and right, but they did not before when we used component cables. Any help would be appreciated.

    Answer:
Widescreen TV's are wider than standard def TV's. You have space left over on each side when you put the shape of a standard def program on the screen. You can always stretch or zoom, but that's your preference. I would keep it as it is and see the original content the way it was meant to be viewed.Standard-def channels have a 4:3 aspect ratio; the width is 4/3 = 1.333 times longer than the height.High-def channels have a 16:9 aspect ratio; the width is 16/9 = 1.78 times longer than the height. If you take a standard def image (1.33:1) and put it in a widescreen set as large as it will fit, you will have black bars on the left and right. It used to be that all programs (movies and television) had a 4:3 apsect ratio. When television was introduced, the theatres had to have something novel to draw audiences back to the theatre. They switched to even larger aspect rations of 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 (width is 2.35 times longer than the height). Early movies like "Gone with the Wind" the original "Dracula" and even "The Wizard of Oz" were all 1.33:1 and would fit perfectly on standard def screens.Since a lot of movies have even wider screens than HDTV's, you are going to even run into black bars on the top and bottom.16:9 (1.78:1) is basically a compromise between standard def (1.33:1) and theater (2.35:1).

Question : How do I connect my computer with my LCD HDTV using D-Sub cable?
I have Compaq Presario V6000 and Samsung LN-S4695 LCD HDTV. I connected my PC to TV using D-Sub cable, and then I tried to view my PC through TV. Problem is my TV doesn't accept the connection (for some reason), and my TV displays "Not Supported Mode". I tried in various options by using FN key and F4 on keyboard. Please help me with this!

    Answer:
plug your computer into your normal monitor. change the resolution to 800 x 600. then make sure your refresh rate is 60 hertz. unplug the dsub connector from the back of your monitor. plug it into your lcd panel;s dsub connector. then adjust the resolution to the maximum allowed by your television. it should be 1920 x 1080. main thing is to make sure your refresh rate on your computer does not exceed the refresh rate on the monitor.

Question : Does anyone know how to turn the speakers off on a samsung lcd hdtv?
Does anyone know how to turn the speakers off on a samsung lcd hdtv? I have a sony surround system hooked up to it and the only way I can get the full effect out of my system is to turn the speakers off on the tv. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Answer:
Menuaudio settingsthe menu is actually set up to ask you if you are going to use surround sound, come to think of it, if you have a HDtv just mute the dang thing and use audio out from your HD receiver or the DVD player when not watching local on air TV , cuz that is only broadcast in stereo.

Question : How close can my LCD HDTV be to my large home stereo speakers?
I have a rather small living room and I am wondering how close my LCD HDTV can be to my large home stereo speakers. When I move our older (non HD) TV too close (about 12") to our home stereo speakers the screen gets green spots and distortion. I am wondering if being too close to a large speaker will hurt or interfere with the HDTV. Thanks!

    Answer:
LCD TVs are not affected by magnets. Put the speakers where you want. You only have to worry about magnetic fields with CRT (Picture Tube) TVs.
