Customer Review :
Great speakers, price could be better
Lets face it, you want to spend your hard earned money on something that will sound great and last for a long time. I agree with most reviewer that the price is too high, but I think the quality is great. I actually have a 6.1 receiver that hooks these speakers up and the additional Bose center speaker. I've had these for 3 years and they worked great, even after 3 different moves across the country. I have almost everything hooked up by fiber optics to my receiver for the best possible quality. Trust me their is a difference between, optical and analog quality and it obvious whenever I listen or play something on TV. Even still to this day when I watch a movie or play a video game I swear I'm hearing something outside or in the house, but its just the sound from the speakers. Also if you know someone in the military, they sell Bose at the PX/BX(Post/Base Exchange). I got mine there and it was cheaper and tax free.

Decent Speaker system- you get what you pay for --
I own this from last one year. I did research from Infinity Beta series, Atlantic Technology, KEF, M&K ...many others. They sound great but they are bulky. If you want similar performance and nice look (Virtually invisible) yes, Bose is the way to go. I hooked up this to my Yamaha RXV 1500 THX Receiver. It shakes. This is definitely NOT Radio-shack quality.

NOTHING BEATS BOSE QUALITY..........
I HAVE HAD MY BOSE AM 10"s THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO THIS ONE ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK IDENTICAL, SINCE 1996 AND I MUST SAY THE SOUND ON MY SURROUND SOUND THEATER SYSTEM STILL MAKES ME JUMP WHEN I PLAY A DVD WITH EITHER D T S OR DOLBY 5.1 ........ BOSE ALTHOUGH THEY MAKE VERY EXPENSIVE SYSTEMS REALLY OFFER A PRODUCT THAT WILL LAST YOU THROUGH THE YEARS. AND IF YOU READ CNET OR ONE OF THE OTHER ONLINE REVIEWERS YOU WILL NOTICE HOW ALL THE OTHER WANNA BE SPEAKER MANUFACTURERS ONLY COMPARE THEMSELVES TO BOSE, AND NO ONE ELSE I WONDER WHY????????

Overpriced Junk with Shiny Marketing
I bought a set of these for my sister-in-law because she was convinced Bose was the best. For comparison, I had installed a $300 multimedia computer speaker system for her son a few months prior. the $300 system put these things to shame. if you do a little research, you learn that bose is basically radio shack quality speakers with nike level marketing. i suggest you do your research before paying for a fancy ad campaign.

music to ears
Like what the other guy said if your room is around 20x15 and you want to keep speakers 'virtually invisible' this is for you. You buy it, try it if don't like it return it.I have been trying it and so far it's delivered upto my high expectations. Not only does it sound sweet and I feel like sitting in a live concert, or movie theater it cost me less than here also;) In B Js the package (AM15 series 1 silver+samsung HT DS610B receiver+5cd/dvd changer) for 950.I earlier thought samsung receiver/dvd player must be trashy but it's working okay and I could wait till HDMI-adaptive Onkyo (TX SR604 in particular) comes down to 200s (its right now 400).In one word I'd describe my HT as incredible.bose delivers! (for what it is known)

Great Speakers
Great speakers for a small space. Clear and accurate. Center speaker gives rich sound to the voices.
Rating :
I have the last incarnation of these speakers
About a year ago I bought a sony three piece surround system that, as far as i can tell is identical to these speakers, save the cases. The cone sizes and max power ratings are the same and i am almost positive the responce range is too. These are pretty decent speakers, the sound from the rear speakers could be more crisp and they only go down to 85hz. but hey they are suround speakers. I am happy with these but I suspect you can get the same sound quality from a slightly cheaper KLH system. If i could do it again i would spring a little more cash for a slightly more expensive JBL system or somthing like that. dont get me wrong, these are plenty good speakers.
P.s. I think the cones are paper but the darn covers dont come off. (periodicaly i enjoy taking the covers off of speakers too look at them, a slight down side to this system.)

Centers Great - Surround?
The center channel addded a ton to my sound for movies and the like, I love it. The surround speakers aren't as good, they do give some surround effect but the quality is not very high. Couple that with their size, and they aren't the greatest. I had a hard time mounting them to the drywall with the cantilever type mounting arms I bought, since they are so heavy and big they really put some load on the arms and the wall. Haven't fallen down yet, though.
Overall these were a good purchase for the price, if only because the center channel is everything I hoped it would be. The surrounds are clunky.

A steal for the price
If you are looking for a pair of low budget speakers, you have found it. The sound quality is good. It is not the top quality, but for the price, you won't be regret.
Rating :
Not so impressed, even with the price tag.
This kit is touted as a good 3-pc setup for those that have a home theatre amplifier but only the front two speakers. That's what I needed, and the price seemed too hard to believe. Despite an occasional poor review, I decided to give them a try.
I'm not an audiophile. But I do know what sounds good and what sounds bad. I've had rear and center speakers on this system before, so that's not the issue. The center speaker (used for most midrange including voice) leaves a lot to be desired. It's muffled, boxy. Misses that rich sound you should have from a speaker. Same goes for the rear speakers. Overall my system sounded better just using the 2 speakers I already had.
The price lures you in. But, if you're looking to fill the gap like I was, to turn a 2-speaker system into 5, do yourself the favor of a little more research and spending at least a little more money. It will be worth it in my opinion. I'll be returning my set within the week of writing this review.

Great For The Price But..
I bought this set a few months ago. I already had a KLH base cannon and compact front speakers, so this set filled out my surround setup using adding the center channel and rear channels. I've had nothing but great success with KLH speakers over the years.
The sound is really good (KlH audio quality is always good), but I guess I didn't fully appreciate the size of these speakers when I ordered them. The center channel isn't much of a big deal as I simply positioned it as a pedestal for my LCD HDTV, but those satellite speakers look awkward mounted on the wall.

Product Description was not clear
Item didn't describe clearly that it was just speaker without subweafer. It was just a wastage of money
Rating :
Great set up.
I just bought these over the weekend. I found them for a VERY low price and could not pass them up. As everyone has said, the center is fantastic. I set up the surrounds as my main L/R because they were better than the ones I had. They sound great. Next weekend I'm going to get another set of KLH for the new main L/R. Don't let the low price fool ya. These are great speakers.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the surrounds really don't have much bass at all, but it's not THAT big of a deal with a powered sub.

Quantity not quality
I presently have a "set" of these speakers on my dune buggy. I lost one of the grilles in transport and had to get a new speaker. The item description is a little vague in that it does say "speaker" singular, but calls it a speaker system. In the description, it does use the word "speakers" several times so I thought it was a set of two. I only need one, so it is not the end of the world, but it could be misleading. The speaker itself is pretty good, and built well, but does lack any real bass sound.

Sound wonderful!
Why buy a series IV when you can get the same thing for series III? Just a diff label that they stuck on.

Questions & Answers
Question : Is there any way possible to hock up a Speaker Home Theater System in a car?
If so how do i hock it up if it needs a wall socket?
Answer:
Yes get a proper sine wave inverter and simply plug it in to the 240 volt output. Make sure everything is secure so it doesn't fly around when in off chance that someone runs into you. Reason for sine wave is that some electronics don't take kindly to not haveing a good 50htz supply.

Question : What's a good, moderately priced 7.1 Home Theater speaker system for a small living room?
Looking to get a PS3 for blu-ray movies and want a nice, yet moderately priced 7.1 home theater speaker system. I hear Onkyo is a good brand... any other suggestions? Or am I better off with just a 5.1 system??? Thanks for the help everyone!!!
Answer:
i have just made this decision my self, for my ps3 and room, i went for a higher quality 5.1 system over a 7.1, simply for the better sound quality and features. The 7.1 only had 2 extra speakers and was more expensiveonkyo is a good brand but i went for a better yamaha 5.1 system

Question : home theater speaker wire question?
i have a kirsch k3 5.1ch surround sound home theater. i want to put speakers in my workout room, my master bath, guest bath and two bose out door speakers. my question is could i connect all of these additional speakers to my existing system? will sound quality be lost? any hazards i should be aware of? any other ideas? thanks!
Answer:
If you already have a full set of speakers connected to the receiver - no, you cannot connect all those additional speakers. You will need to get an additional amp. You might check into "whole house audio amps" - google it. If you have the money, that is the way a pro would do it.If you have only two in the room where the receiver is, then maybe you can add a few more speakers elsewhere.http://www.inwallstore.com/http://www.htd.com/whole-house-audio

Question : Surround Sound Home Theater Speaker recommendations?
I need recommendations for a Surround Sound Home Theater Speaker System. I need something that would sound great with all my components (dvd player, CD player, Receiver, TV, Satellite).Model numbers or links would be good.
Answer:
My first recommendation from a Home Theater standpoint, meaning primarily Movies and Video, but music will be played from time to time, would be Definitive Technology Bipolar Super Towers. http://www.definitivetech.com/loudspeakers/powertower/powertower.htmlThey have built in powered subwoofers and they are THUNDEROUSLY powerful! The speakers themselves are great looking, great sounding, and pretty well priced for the quality of the product! If you want something just a bit more upscale, and PHENOMENAL sounding (but you better have an amplifier with GUTS) then look no further than Martin Logan Electrostatic Speakers. http://www.us.martinlogan.com/frontpage.htmlThese are my favorite speakers of ALL time! Yes, there are better speakers out there, but if you are so inclined, these speakers are nearly without comparison!Sorry to inform you... Bose is not a quality sounding speaker system from a music, nor from a home theater standpoint. Having been a high end salesperson, I can tell you 1 universal truth, Bose is expensive NOT because it is quality gear... But because they have the best marketing in the business. Bose is one of the most profitable stereo companies on the planet, charging anywhere from 50-100% margin on every product. No other component company makes anywhere near that much profit. Check my profile for other answers I have given on this subject. We used to joke about Bose when we sold them (not to the customers of course) "No Highs, All Lows, it MUST be Bose!" They turn the bass up far too high, but because people tend to like music they can FEEL, the "Bose sound" has become acceptable to many people. Hope this helps!!

Question : Home theater front speaker not loud enough?
Does anyone else have this problem? When playing movies the actor's voices are sometimes barely audible so I turn the volume up. then suddenly the special effects are heard and the loud noise is unbearable. is that the way Home theaters are supposed to work?Yes, I'm talking about the center speaker.
Answer:
Get a new center channel speaker. Most store bought centers are too small and/or not sensitive enough to hear over the mains or subs. (assuming you've tried adjusting the levels of each speaker) So either look around and buy a better one with higher sensitivity or.....get one of Bills. Follow the link...... http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/SLA.html

Question : Home Theater Speaker question?
How many watts should my surround sound system have? And what specs are important to look at when buying speakers to maximize my home theater experience..I would also like tiny speakers and as few wires as possible..anyone know of any other than bose?
Answer:
A: Bose is a bad brand. Their products sound okay, but competing products often exceed them for less than half the money. They use low quality outmoded parts and refuse to release specifications. Once sold through hi-fi dealers, they're now only available at big-box electronics retailers. Sterophile did a review on one of ther cube systems in the mid 90's, the first review they got in serious press since the early 80's, and the person who conducted it was aghast. Suffice to say, they performed akin to computer speakers.http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html#number1Okay, so what SHOULD you get? Well, I'd suggest going to your local high-fi dealer with a set budget and asking for advice. If you have less than two thousand, maybe not so much, as that stuff's expensive. If not your style, I know Orb audio has a full kit for $1,500-2,500. Includes a decent full-featured surround sound Receiver, your choice of five or seven satelites, and an eight or ten inch subwoofer. Might make more sense to buy your reciever separately, though, but their subwoofer is def. tuned for the system. This company is very well respected, and has a reputation of selling Lifestyle Systems for people who aren't keen on Bose products. Never heard them, but stereo mags have given them accolades, and they certainly look classy.http://www.orbaudio.com/Also, specifications:Don't know if I mentioned above, but Bose does not list specifications, probably because they'd be rather uncompetitive. The ones that matter includePower handling (RMS, not peak)Ohms (important that you match them up right. Lower impedance speakers are harder to drive, and make your reciever break a sweat.)Sensitivity: The higher the figure, the fewer watts needed to reach a set volume.Frequency response: Should always exceed 20,000KHZ, and should always be rated plus or minus three decibels. Diameter plus number of driversCrossover point of subwoofer, plus how many watts subwoofer has.
