nice
i bought this tv from amazon about a week ago along with a toshiba dvd recorder/player (DR570) and i am impressed with both products. i did my research on lcd tvs before i bought this. i was looking for something between 14" and 18" for my bedroom. everyone told me i should get a bigger one because it would look small in my bedroom. well, i don't need a 48" tv for anything and was always satisfied with my 13" orion tv i bought at walmart about 10 years ago.. (time for an upgrade). i really wanted a 16" but couldn't find one, so i settled for the lg 19".
i recieved this tv in prompt time (ordered march 19th standard shipping, recieved march 25th via ups). setup was a breeze. i programmed this tv with a universal remote that i already had for use with my old tv. the picture comes in great. volume is awesome. there is a slight delay when changing channels, but i got used to that fairly quickly. also, i've been so used to turning on my tv and immediately it comes on.. the lg takes a few seconds, but i expected that with any new tv i would purchase. i love the fact that there is a sleep setting on this set. i also love the fact that there are different picture settings i can choose from. i can set my own or use the preset natural, cinema, sport, or vivid settings.. (there may be a few more i forgot to mention). the same with the sound.. i can set my own or use the preset options instead.
the sound and picture quality are good with the set, but they are not the best that there is out there. if you're looking for a less pricey set to meet your basic needs, this is the tv for you.
i love the fact that this tv is fairly mobile. i've moved a lot in the past, and i can't stress enough how much of a pain it is to have to unhook every cord and cable from a big bulky set to move. this set is light and sleek looking. the stand does not swivel, which is kind of a downer, but the pros definitely outweigh this one con. also, i love the fact that there is cord management in the back. a cheap little plastic clip can hold all of my cords together to help hide them a bit and make this lg tv look a little more impressive. the plastic clip is a little cheap yes, but it's in the back of the tv, so who cares?
it's a great tv and i would definitely buy a larger one for my living room when the time is right.

This is my second LG hdtv. Both of the tv's are superior to what I've viewed at comparable prices.

Love this one
I love this tv. Bought it for my kitchen, and tried another first but sent it back and ordered this one. I'm not a tech-geek, so this amazon page, with its detailed look at features/workability, really helped me to decide on this one. Very happy with it. The picture is excellent and the color/features adjustments are easy for me to understand. I can get the picture I want as far as brightness/color depth/sharpness. Love it! Would definitely buy this brand again--am hoping to save enough to get a 32" for the bedroom next.

Great TV at a Great Price
Searched, Searched and Searched on line, stores etc. Compared Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and was very close to buying a Toshiba and then Consumer Reports updated their TV reviews and added this LG SL80 and rated it very high. So did a quick review to validate their information and then bought 2 actually. Love the slim profile and pivotability.

Great TV
I am very happy with my purchase of this tv. It has met or exceeded what I expected from it. I watch movies and also play video games on it and the picture is excellent. The only thing negative I would have to say is that the tv is hard to see when sun gets on it because of the glass front, however I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and the glass will save the tv so I have no real complaints...Great TV

A great TV but not the best assembly.
This TV is very easy to operate and has a great picture with fantastic sound. The only problem is the TV stand. It is not assembled well and the TV is not completely stable on top of it. This in turn causes the TV to sit leaning to the right side. The original stand sent with the TV was lower on the right by 7/16 of an inch. After spending 1-1/2 hour on he phone with customer service they sent a new one that was better but not by much. The set now sits lower on the right by 1/8 of an inch and it still wobbles some. Customer service is in Mexico and is very slow on the phone plus the agent I spoke with did not know the product. She kept asking for information that was not available on the TV. Thankfully, we got disconnected and when I called back I got a new agent who said I had already provided all the information necessary.

Looks just as good off as it does when it is on. If that is important to you, this is the lcd for you. You can get better sound quality for less. This unit has the whole package and outdoes the rest with styling.

Worst sound ever
LG really blew it on this one. They boast about the invisable speakers as a feature but they may as well be non existant. At max volume it was still low and distorted. Returned it for the sharp 32'' well worth the extra money.

NOISE, NOISE and more NOISE DVD PLAYER
Pros: Very attractive design, ease of having dvd player in tv, picture quality great, good price.
Cons:LOUD,LOUD,LOUD background noise when using the dvd player.....dvd player 'drive' no matter what volume you use is very noisey and if you turn the volume up the DVD noise gets worse, will not stream video in HD for instance when using 'ROKU-HD, Netflix player',have had difficulty in getting the DVD to eject frequently........DVD works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't......all of these problems from the 'get go' and I have used this TV for over a year.

LG 26LG40
I wanted a tv to mount on my bedroom wall and decided on this one. The slim design is good. The picture is excelent. The picture from the dvd player is excelent. The one draw back is the sound is so "quiet" when watching a DVD movie. The sound does not seem to increase higher than the fifty percent level even though the volume is truned up to one hundred percent. The sound from the TV chanels is fine. It is a good thing that my hearing is ok.

Outstanding buy
This TV I bought for my husband for Christmas. He has it in his home office and LOVES IT. The body is very attractive. The picture and sound are great. It is also a very nice feature to have the built-in DVD. We are both more than pleased with this purchase. It was a great value for the money.

Fantastic TV!
I have to say, this is the best purchase I've made in quite some time. I researched TV's for a month before hesitantly ordering this one. I'm so happy with it... 1) The set up was simple. Plug it in, let it acquire TV channels, watch! 2) Internet connectivity is a snap and it is awesome. I expected poor performance on this feature because my internet connection, which is considered broadband, is slow compared to most broadband speeds (I'm very rural). Streaming video from Netflix is flawless (now if they would get some better titles for streaming.... but that's another story). 3) Picture quality is fantastic. I really have nothing to complain about. I read reviews where people said the blacks were not deep enough. I don't have that complaint. I find the HD viewing incredible and the standard definition is just fine. 4) If there is anything to complain about, and I feel it's nitpicky, is that the manual is on a CD instead of printed out, so if you have a question you have to go to your computer instead of flipping through the pages of a manual. Since the TV is so simple to understand, I'm not lowering my rating because of it. I did pay $1199 for this TV with free shipping ([...]) which has a Bill Me Later payment option with no interest and no payments for 6 months. I see that Amazon has it for about $70 less, but that's how it goes. Overall I'm thrilled with my purchase. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

WOW great TV, good price
This is my first LCD, so I don't have a lot of experience to go by. It has a wonderful picture and great sound and all the different ways to connect to it is amazing. I think I will be learning about what can be done for quite a while. Yesterday I was playing with the network feature and found that it can play a movie that is on a computer on my wireless network. This was a open box set and it came with the wrong remote and manual, once that was cleared up, I think I got a great TV for a good price.

NOT DLNA Certified/Compliant
I'm going to keep this short, but in summary - not worth the money - the network connectivity is not really working and it's NOT DLNA compliant. You as might as well just buy a cheaper TV and an external box or buy a different brand.
Here's why:
Positive: 1) Customer support is really friendly - although unless you get the highest level reps (who only the TV repair guy can call) they're pretty much incompetent. Every question I asked, they had to put me on hold so they could ask a manager - or Google it.
2) The sound isn't bad.
3) Bang for buck - it's probably the lowest priced networked TV out there with Netflix. BUT, if you're looking to connect to other devices, be prepared for some frustration - or lack of success.
4) The 120Hz does help - I noticed significant difference from my 60Hz Sony. Much easier on the eyes - but LG isn't the only company that makes 120Hz tv's.
Negative:
1) NOT DLNA Certfied - you know that standard that everything home connected is using? LG decided to skip out and no plans to add. Means that in the future as more devices come on board, you likely won't be able to connect to them. Have fun being tied to your PC and run everything through that.
2) Very difficult to get connected to your PC - spent 14 hours on the phone with tech support before we could even get it to connect to the PC. It would not connect to my Seagate BlackArmor NAS nor my WD My World Edition NAS - LG engineer said it was the drive's fault. NOT true - I returned this thing and bought a Samsung LN46B650 and connected fine. My WD TV player also worked fine with both.
3) The remote is REALLY uncomfortable and awkward. Really lacking in features. Number buttons are too far away from each other.
4) You get a LOT of pixelation. If you just came from analog, this will knock your socks off - BUT you have no idea what you're missing.
In the end, after all that time with the rep, they just said I should return the unit. It was really painful because I got a REALLY good deal on this, ~25% off the Amazon price through some Fry's deal. Believe me, I really wanted this thing to work. But in the end, I sent it back, spent about $200-300 more on the Samsung LN46B650 and I have no regrets whatsoever. The picture is just so much more sharp. The sound is amazing, remote has a lot of nice features, you get PIP, Netflix, Yahoo Widgets, Addt'l Downloadable content, and DLNA (I was able to connect to my NAS drives no problem - still working on getting it to stream mkv, but other formats work fine)
Don't bother with this LG TV.
Rating :
Outstanding Internet TV
This TV is fantastic! I was originally looking at a lower LG model, but Amazon had a great price! This TV arrived in less than a week and set-up was a breeze. There's a quick wizard to walk through, and once completed, you're up and running. The Internet connectivity was as simple as plugging in a network cable to the back of the TV. I was already a Netflix user so that was as simple as activating the device and the streaming ability of the TV, in my opinion, is better than streaming through my XBOX 360. The Yahoo Widgets worked out of the box as was nice for basic content ability.
I haven't spent the extra time "tweaking" the picture through LG's picture controls, but once I'm done, I look forward to many nights of high-quality HD movies and sports!
Rating :
The future is here!!
I just purchased this television the other day, on sale at Fry's for $895. This is a really great deal, in my opinion. NetFlix works amazingly; the TV does show the limits of the quality of some of the Netflix videos. Some of the Netflix content is HD.....and it looks great.
I want to address that fact that the reviewer stated that you can't stream video over your network. Maybe at the time of the review, you could not, but I can tell you it does......without a doubt. Mpeg, AVI, Divx, and Mkv all worked when I streamed them from my Network attached storage device. It is an amazing feature considering I download most of shows that I watch.
The Vudu feature is very nice as well, basically a pay per view streaming HD service. I have not had a chance to watch a movie through the service yet. I have watched many of their trailers, the quality is amazing.
Pros
NetFlix Vudu Access to network attached storage devices, for streaming video. YouTube A very robust broadcast HD tuner, my....last set really failed in that department.
Cons Not crazy about the remote..... It can't operate other devices such as DVD, VCR, or a cable box or at least I have not yet figured that out. I don't like the layout of the remote. I could take or leave the Yahoo wigets.

Questions & Answers
Question : My LG LCD TV that I purchased today has a shaky blur sometimes?
I just hooked the tv up and I'm playing a dvd and the picture keeps blurring with shaky-ness. It's odd.. what can I do to fix this? Should I take it back to Best Buy? It's a 32 inch LG Class TV.
Answer:
Test it with other inputs, as many as possible: antenna, cable or satellite box, game box, etc. With antenna or cable/satellite box, look at various channels. Does everything shake, or just when you're playing a DVD?If it's everything, take it back. If only the DVD, that's where your problem is.

Question : I cannot get my LG LCD TV to act as a PC monitor. It shows the boot screens on start up then goes 'No Signal'?
When I plug the lead into my monitor all is well, just have the problem with the large TV... Need help... Please and thank you...
Answer:
Try a lower resolution. A TV displays "no signal" if you are trying to run at a resolution too high for it to handle.

Question : What would make an LG LCD TV go pop and the picture fade? Can this be fixed?
We were just watching TV and then heard a pop and the picture almost totally disappeared . We tried to see if a DVD would work and nothing. This really sucks cause it could be almost $4,000 down the drain!PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PS>>>> My bf just turned it on and there was yet another pop and now we can't see anything!!!!!!!!!
Answer:
All LCD Tvs are panels which are backlit with a white Flourescent tube. From what you have described, the POP sound seems to be the Flourescent tube bursting. I am sure a good technician can open the back panel, and replace the Tube, which should not cost you much.

Question : My LG LCD TV screen has frozen. How do I unfreeze it?
I can switch the TV on and off with the remote control, but I can't get a picture apart from the channel number in the top right hand corner. I can't get to the menu or the volume control - nothing. Reboot :-)Unplug the power cord from the wall. Wait 30 sec, then plug back.

Question : LCD TV LG keeps switching to stand by mode each time?
Please help. My lcd tv lg 32lc56 keeps going on stand by mode, when it is switched on. If given a rest and then switched on, it somtimes play for a longer time and then switches again to stand by mode. Please assist as i cannot find anyone to help me. I have bought the TV from UK and I reside in Mauritius, so i cannot get any after sales service.
Answer:
That sucks! No nearby servicers.....Right now your TV is shutting down due to a failure in the balancer's feedback circuitry....or it can be due to a fluctuating voltage regulator in the inverter circuit....And you need an LG servicer to identify the failure point....Call LG, explain the problem you have finding a nearby service facility, they may be able to research, and possibly authorize a nearby TV repair station to do the work for them.
