stunning picture until it goes black, random power loss
I like the last guy bought this LG at Fry's. In the store it looked like the most bang for the buck, when I got home setup was simple wall mounting was a breeze since its so slim and light the picture looks great in blue ray and cable HD however when I went to play my PS3 there was one issue that concerned me. When the PS3 screen goes black light bleeds through the edges most severely with the energy saving settings turned off. That is my my only complaint with this set,and I'm still contemplating if it's a big enough issue to return the set.the internet apps work well with a ethernet cable the set is wi fi ready the adpater is $70.00 one my favorite ability's this set has is the detail in witch you can adjust the picture setting's things like black level adjustment and even skin color adjustment's the sound is even pretty good considering the speakers got to be tiny cause the unit is so slim like a 1/4 inch on the frame edge maybe and inch in the middle. the apps are limited to yahoo, youtube, netflix and acouple other movie sites only so far.I have a XBOX360 as well and its never looked so good I've had several different lcd's before this upgrade to led and it makes alot of difference I still have the same issue when the screen goes totally black i may contact LG about it cause it comes with a 1 year manufactures warranty with the energy saving settings on max the light issue is hardly noticeable but it's still there none the less other then that kinda major issue this set would get 5 stars from me so I gotta give it a very worthy 4. Update 7-4-10 I've had this LG almost 2 months now i could'nt return it over the "clouding or blooming" after comparing it against other major brand edge lit LED sets all of them have this issue. So I've kept it now I got a new issue though were the set shuts it self off outta the blue even with the sleeptimer off .I've read some blogging about it and it seem's it may be a power supply issue I will contact LG about it and update this when I hear more.

Great television!!!
This product arrived promptly at my door protected by a wooden crate. I mounted it on my bedroom wall. The picture quality is excellent. I bought the wireless adapter (about $70 extra) to get the internet connection. I am slightly disappointed with the supplied internet features of Youtube, Picasa,Vudu, Yahoo TV wedges, and Netflix because I believe that more features could easily have been included. Because of the quality of the picture, this LG television merits a 5 star rating.

Great Picture, Connectivity has Potential!
I bought this TV on Amazon (from Adorama) and I've been pretty happy with it so far. The only major issue was that the top right corner was damaged so there's a slight discoloration. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it until after the TV was mounted and I took the plastic strips off of the frame. Alas, returning the TV after opening it is pretty much impossible based on the store's policies. But, that's just bad luck on my part ... still it stings a little to spend $1660 on something that's at least cosmetically flawed. Thankfully the TV itself is fine.
Beautiful picture from all HD sources - Cable, PS3/blu-ray, XBOX 360, Wii, Netflix streaming, etc. I generally keep it on Standard mode, but I did set one of the expert picture presets using the built-in calibration feature. Blacks are 'black' using the local dimming feature - quite effective considering this set uses a hybrid LED backlight system. The 120hz motion feature works well and improves standard DVD picture. I haven't really noticed much bleeding from the edges, but if there is some it's minimal. Sound is good for such a thin TV and turning on the Infinite sound function helps. But most of the time, I use my home theater system so it's not really a concern for me.
The TV's menus are intuitive and very modern. The Netcast features and widgets work well also. I've watched youtube videos and they look pretty good, while Netflix movies run smoothly and look great (esp the HD ones). My TV is connected via the ethernet port to my LAN and can access my media server. I serve music (aac, mp3, wav, flac) and movies (XVID, 1080p / 720p h264/AC3 blu-ray rips) and normally use my PS3 to access them. That being said, the TV's media functions aren't perfected yet.
It'll only see about 10 pages of music folders (I've got 15000+ songs sorted by artist - album), and sometimes they don't show up properly. I've used TVersity and Nero Media Home (comes w/ the TV) and had the same results. The TV plays DiVX/XVID movies perfectly and any h264 movies that aren't profile 4.1. Alas, my HD collection is all high profile 4.1, so the TV will start playing them and then freeze after a few seconds. The manual in fact "doesn't guarantee" that these particular files will play. So for now, I'll continue to use the PS3 for network media serving. However, since the TV can be updated via the Internet, I'm hopeful LG will fix some of these bugs.
The remote works well and the backlight button is a nice touch.
Overall, I'm very happy with this TV (aside from the slight blemish on it) and I probably could have gone with something bigger :)
Honestly, there are a lot of TVs to choose from now days but I think the LG has a great feature set for the price. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good midrange LED set with internet connectivity.

Overall satisfied; yet to find a compatible Wifi USB Adapter
I bought this TV from Frys but hey, a review is a review nonetheless. For most part, I am extremely satisfied with the product. It is pretty slim and neat looking except for the red/maroon boarder (not noticeable but I would prefer all black, personal preference). Plus the logos and buttons glow white only when powered up which is awesome. The contrast ratio is 5M:1. Blacks seem pretty fine, then again I'm not an expert and I didn't have any other TV set to compare the blacks against. Where brightness is concerned, it seemed better than most of other TVs. Again this is an LED TV and pretty good for the price I bought it at. Amazon in upwards of $1600 seems a little expensive. The only thing bugging me right now is its incompatibility with most of the Wireless USB Adapters; I've tried IO gear and Linksys and the TV doesn't recognize either of them. I called LG customer care and they told me it would be compatible with LG's AN-WF100 (Can't remember exact name) or something. I haven't found a store which sells it yet, LG's website says its yet to be released. If I can find a Wifi USB Adapter which it's compatible with, I'd be pleased. Also the auto-dimming feature seems great, but not for me, the picture seems very dark in power savings mode and the blacks take a major hit, but that could be just be me. All in all happy with the purchase. 4 stars simply because the TV doesn't "WOW" me but for the price you can't get a 5-star product.
Edit: The Wifi adapter is AN-WF100 and costs $70 at Frys. Apparently I was told the 2010 LG TV's are only compatible with LG's dongle, which is definitely a take away since other dongles cost $10 onwards. I definitely don't want to pay $70 bucks for the same thing, for the time being, I'm using the traditional Ethernet/LAN cable.

Love the TV!! Just a few things that get to me.
I have been holding off on a flat screen for awhile. I already had a HD Tv but it was only 30". I wanted a deal and decent specs. So I searched and searched and this was it for me. I purchased and received this beauty faster then the estimated time. I watched Blu ray's on my PS3 with my wife and smiled like a little kid on christmas morning. Shortly thereafter I noticed quirks. My wife says I'm anal but notices these discrepencies as well. Just not as much as myself. 240 HZ makes a visual effect as if there is no auto balance to a camera man's hold when recording. So it feels as if you are recording the movie live and every little bounce and pause is noticed. I don't like it and my wife get's a bit queezy . so we turn 240 off or low more so then not. One more thing (again due to me being anal) I've noticed 3 grey lines going horizontally on the screen. Only on light panning backgrounds. Besides these complaints I'd give a 4.5/5 I really do love this TV just could do without the quirks.

Arrived quickly, assembled (incredibly) easily. Works wonderfully.
Any problems or horror stories that I had heard regarding the purchase, transport, assembly or use of big screen TVs vanished subsequent to this purchase.
The screws holding the base on are a bit tricky to handle unless you use either a magnetic screwdriver or one that otherwise grips the screw heads for insertion. No big deal though.
Whatever you're doing, keep it up!

Great TV!
I am not very "tech" savvy by any means, but I wanted a new, bigger flat screen. I looked at a lot of others before finally settling on this one, mostly due to the great price for all the features and free financing that were offered. I barely know what all the features described meant but I am extremely happy with the TV. I just have this hooked up to my cable box and Blu Ray player. no surround sound, receiver or anything else like that. The picture is AMAZING. You almost feel like you're right in the middle of the story. And it took me all of 2 minutes to hook it up to everything. It could not have been any easier! Like with my old flat screen, the sound does have to be turned up pretty high sometimes, but my friends tell me that can be solved by getting hi def speakers. I doubt I'll go that way because it doesn't really bother me. This is a great product and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Love this TV, mainly because of the speakers, makes out things the way they were meant to be seen. Although, I use this for the playstation PlayStation 3 250 GB and jazzy bayonetta music mostly. IBayonettaam actually typing this on a badass little monitorSceptre 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black (X240T-1920) which is connected to a computer which is also connected to the best TV ever. LG 47LH55 LCD
This is our first flat screen ever. 20 years with a 27" console never prepared us for the spectacular experience of a 47" LCD. The colors, the details, the blacks and the lack of blur in high speed actions are all awsome on our LG 47LH55,47-Inch,1080p,240Hz,LCD HDTV.The set's speaker sound is just Ok but we've hooked up to our stereo receiver and surround speakers so we're most happy now.
The sceen is viewable from a wide angle and the matte screen eliminates most reflections in our sunlite great room ( the "gloss black" referred to in the product description is actually the frame around the screen which is not a problem). I spent more than a few hours researching brands and prices and in the end I think I got the best deal for what I was after. Watch the time of year you buy as diminishing inventories and newer models often create great deals. (we paid $1099 in March 2010 )
Should have done this a long time ago !

Amazing Picture
One of only a few TV's in this size to have an IPS panel that has super wide viewing angles. Run don't walk away from the other cheap TN panel sets on the market.
One review remarked about non-tilt stand .... I can't see why tilt would be needed with the wide view angles this set has.
Sound is more than adequate for use in kitchen environment where we have ours.
BUT .... where the heck is the LSW100BG mount from LG that the manual says is needed to wall mount? The back has such close clearance needs that this mount is required. Can't find it anywhere.

P.S. Item shipped from Adorama .... very fast and double boxed.

Sound poor,no-tilt stand a problem
I was disappointed in this new LG LED 19" TV. The speakers, no matter how I adjust them, are tinny. Facing the small speakers out the back is part of the problem.
I was also amazed to discover that the stand would not tilt; I had to modify it myself to allow for this. Who in LG thinks a counter-top TV should always be at 90 degrees??

worst 240 hz tv ever
this is by far the worst 240 hz lcd tv ever made, when you have the the 240 hz the blur/ghosting/halo effect blur is amplied with my dirctv hd dvr shows or on any blue-ray movies with my ps3 blue-ray player, if your buying this tv exclusively for the 240hz tecnology you will be disappointed, do not buy this tv unless you like headaches and blurred image with 240 hz on, my buddy with samsung 240 and sony 240 tv do not have this problem with the exact same source ps3/satellite so it definitely a lg progblem, i called lg and they admitted that is a problem and could not do anything about it, this tv without the 240hz turned on is slightly better then my 3 year old sony 40 inch w series with 16,000 to 1 contrast ratio , this tv is now worth 1400 if you cannot turn on the 240 hz which is what i paid from beach camera through amazon, do not believe any reviews you seen on webites, they must all work for lg,
p.s. do not buy from beach camera there is an absurd no return policy on open tv,

Got what I wanted. Very satisfied with this HDTV
I have only owned the TV for one month. I have tried to really run it through its paces in that time. Most other TV's I saw and thought of purchasing had at least one issue or another that kept me from buying them. FOR YOUR SAKE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
PICTURE QUALITY - Fantastic. The colors are vivid and the blacks are deep. ABILITY TO HANDLE FAST ACTION SCENES - Took some time but I have the settings adjusted to handle any movie, TV show or video game I throw at it. Before numerous adjustments SOME scenes such as heavy smoke, fire, fog, explosions etc. caused the screen to become blocky. SOUND - No issues. The stock speakers are more than adequate. STAND - Looks good. Is stable. Easy to attach. EASE OF USE - This is my first HDTV and I found the menu easy to use and loaded with options. You can really fine tune the TV here. LOOKS - Not a big deal in my book but this TV looks great. REMOTE - Not a big deal again. Its a standard remote. No issues. COST - More expensive than other TV's however, it's tried and tested and does not have any outstanding issues that other TV's on the market have. Only time will tell if the extra couple hundred was worth it. ISSUES - Most I could fix by adjusting the picture quality. It may be my lack of knowledge but the TruMotion240hz seems useless. When activated it makes the TV unwatchable. When TruMotion is off the TV really is fantastic.
SUMMARY - Very happy with the TV. I did my research and feel that online reviews and numerous visits to the store to check out TV's helped me pick this one. I would buy this again.

"BRAVO LG" - Most Impressive LCD/LED Performance, second to none!
Purchased the LG 47LH90 from my Local Best Buy for $1499 on March 1st. Television graduated off my short list after Consumer Reports raved about its bigger brother (LG 55LH90). At the time, I was torn between the Sony and Samsung comparable units.
Screen Reflectivity, Performance in bright rooms and Black contrasting were my three key drivers for picking this unit. I have one of the brightest living rooms imaginable with a wall of windows over 12' high and two sky lights all positioned right next to this television set respectively. Glare is "minimal to nonexistent" and the Local Dimming feature allows for deep and rich blacks. Color set up right out of the box by using the 6 preset configurations (Standard, Natural, THX Cinema, Sport, Game or Vivid) make set up a breeze. For all you techno-geeks out there, there are two Expert Modes where you can set up and save a couple of custom views for your future use.
Remote control has direct access to all these presets through a mini pop up app that give you access to audio, video, aspect and setup functions. I will give the "LG remote control" 5 stars.
Standard Definition viewing is enhanced by my Dish TV features allowing me to Stretch and Zoom the picture across the 16:9 aspect ratio screen. HD viewing ROCKS on this television. Comparable to the best plasma screens on the market with colors that are rich, vivid and bright.
These particular televisions viewing angles are best in class. (Viewing Angles range from 45 degrees for optimal picture quality to 75-80 degrees with minimal video artifacts being produced).
Two minor complaints driving my overall 4 star rating:
A) Factory Documentation - The documentation provided by LG on this set is pretty weak in regards to software options and television functionality. Internet research quickly answered some of my questions. Television installation, set up and pivot base construction instructions were sufficient.
B) Closed caption support - Closed Captioning is NOT supported with HDMI, DVI or Composite inputs and must be driven by the set top box. Wish I knew this earlier but would NOT of changed my purchasing decision.
Overall, I am quite pleased with this purchase and would HIGHLY recommend it for you.

Question : Which LG LCD TV has better picture quality The LG 47LH40 or the LG 47LD520?
and overall which is a better TV?
Answer:
It looks like the 47LH40 was discontinued and the 47LD520 replaces it. Not sure how much difference dynamic contrast ratio makes between 70,000:1 and 100,000:1, or where that even comes into play. But everything else looks similar.I am using a 32LH40 as a computer monitor with LG BD370 BluRay player, and like it.So if you can get a closeout deal on the 47LH40, go for it.
