Average LCD for what I paid for

I just wanted a decent 32" LCD TV for my bedroom. I already own a 2008 50" Panasonic Plasma 50PZ80U which I have had no problems with and looks great. I never really liked LCDs, but for my bedroom I didnt really care to have a 32", plasma, or 1080p for that size.

Anyway, I got my HD cable box hooked up and played with the TV's settings. The TV looks great and reproduces colors nicely. Doesn't have the blacks of my plasma but its decent. I tried looking for picture settings that people have posted up for this TV on forums but coudln't find any. Haven't hooked up my PS3 to it, but I don't really plan to.

The TV has an SD card slot, it works fine, loads pictures quick and plays slideshows.

I don't plan on watching blu-rays on this TV so i can't give a review of how blu-rays look on this. I just watch HD cable.

surprised

I was expecting a good tv for the price i paid, but not something above and beyond. I mostly use it to play xbox 360 on and it looks great. The games look really beautiful and the colors are very vivid. It's a great tv with a lot of inputs, and some cool gadgets that I didnt know it had like the SD card slot, and the ipod dock

price

This is a great tv but recently the price of this Panasonic TC-L32X2 32 has sky rocketed to $406.00 USD, which is totally unreasonable for this tv. First and primarily I'd like to point out that you can easily buy a brand new sony bravia tv at $404.00 USD from best buy or walmart which will blow away this tv, even though they are both running at 720p and 60hz. The thing is that the Panasonic TC-L32X2 32 only has a contrast ratio of 18,000-1 which is feeble compared to the sony bravia which is 100,000-1, you will notice the picture quality difference while watching HD movies or blue ray, and trust me it makes a big difference. As long as this tv is selling above 360.00 USD it is unreasonably priced, do yourself a favor and buy a sony bravia32 720p tv.

Amazing TV for an amazing price

**Disclaimer: As of this review date, I have only had the TV for a couple of weeks; so I could not really tell you about any issues that could develop (as with any TV) over time.

This television is perhaps the best I've ever seen in it's own right, but then combine that with the price that's being offered and you really have an unbeatable deal!

Picture quality is astounding, in that colors, blacks, whites, and grays are all accurately and sharply reproduced, and I really don't see how you can get a much better picture than this on any TV out there. Plus, you don't need to turn contrast and saturation up to "fake" a solid picture - put this baby on THX mode and you've got all the color and contrast you need in a picture that truly does match the intended output of the source material.

All sources I have tried look great - Blu-Ray is absolutely astonishing, upscaled DVDs really look like HD, and both standard and HD television look as great as they can.

If you are looking for the best possible picture for a very reasonable price, you need to get this.

I could give you a few minor nits (the remote isn't the most intuitive, for example), but if you're like me and what you care about most is your high-def picture, with minimal negatives, this comes highly recommended! I really wasn't expecting the quality to be THIS good when I bought it.

But don't just take the word on Amazon for it - do your research and see what the consensus is on this TV. That's what I did, and there isn't a reviewer out there who has given this less than a near-perfect review.

I'd also be happy to answer any questions...

Don't Buy Panasonic! Service is Terrible!!!

I bought the TCP50g20 50 inch Plasma and less than 2 months after purchasing the TV completely gave out. I called Panasonic and a very incompetent 3rd party (they asked ME for a screw driver - a repair person with no tools, that was a hint and a half for me) came out to fix the TV and they couldn't. They took the TV with them over 3 weeks ago to fix and don't have a estimated time when the TV will be fixed because Panasonic is back ordered on parts. They said it could be another 2-3 weeks before the part is available. They don't have any loaner TVs to give out. So after spending over 1k on this TV I am staring at my walls with no definite date on when I will get my TV back. I have called and complained several times to Panasonic and to the hired 3rd party but I just keep getting the run around. I have spent close to 15 hours on the phone with them(waiting, on hold, etc.) and no resolution in sight.

I read the reviews and did my research and thought this would be a good buy. WRONG! I got a lemon and what makes it so bad is that Panasonic is giving me the run around (politely of course) but I have no TV and no future date on when I am going to get it back. A Panasonic representative said that the TV is under warranty so they will fix it but they just can't say how long it will take. I have never bought something that was under warranty that took this long to be repaired.

So do yourself a favor and don't get a Panasonic TV. Never has a repair service been so bad!!!!

Impressive so far...

Having only had this plasma for a short time, these are my initial thoughts. Setup is an absolute snap. You do not need a second person...just take the stand out first, assemble it, grab the TV with one hand on either side and drop it in place. The THX setting is far and away the best if you're a film buff like me. I still tweaked the setting slightly; for example, why is it set to Warm2 by default? If you are buying a plasma, chances are you've heard about burn-in issues. Let me just tell you these are real concerns. In the first hours it is very sensative to still images...right out of the box I watched a 2 hour film in 2.35:1, and I could already detect the black boxes with an all-black signal. It disappeared quickly after using the scrolling white bar and watching some 16x9 stuff...but just be careful. Uniformity of the display (especially in the blacks, without blotchy backlight bleeding from non-LED LCD's) is where this tv kicks serious butt, and it would be a shame screw it up right away. Last but not least, the build quality here is outstanding. A little thicker than most, but solid construction.

Everything I was looking for in a Flat Screen TV

TV came on time as advertised, set up was simple, and the picture is fantastic. The sound is okay, but I would expect most people will be using a home theater system so that should be a moot point. I am pleased with the purchase.

Rating :

Great picture, but the buzz is awful!

The picture is gorgeous! As noted by tech review sites, the THX mode is definitely the most accurate and looks by far the best. The sound isn't awful through the TV, but I now have it running through my receiver, so that doesn't matter.

The Viera Cast Amazon on Demand works very well and the interface is actually better than my Roku when using Amazon. I have it wired through a Airport Express and it works like a charm without buying a single-purpose dongle from Panasonic.

The anti-glare screen coating works beautifully. The TV is on a wall with two large windows facing it and I can actually watch TV during the day for the first time without lowering the blackout shades. The bezel is really a very, very dark gray which is much more attractive that the usual piano black. Unfortunately, there are two problems with this TV that are proving hard to deal with:

1. The buzz on light colored scenes. There is a barely audible buzz on somewhat lighter scenes, but on truly light scenes it is loud enough to be heard over my newish central air conditioner and a pet fountain that is about 25' away from the seating area. Truly light scenes where the buzz is very predominant include the 1st season of Lost when they are on the beach or in the sun in the mountains, Crazy Heart when he is on the road with the sky and the NM desert around him and all of the ocean scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean. This is really disappointing. Not sure if this is fixable or not, if not it is a deal breaker for me.

2. It definitely shifts slightly to green. Flesh tones always have a very slight greenish tint to them. If I can figure out how to get rid of the buzz I will have it professionally calibrated to see if this is actually fixable.

I hope there is a way to get rid of the buzz, because otherwise this is a great buy for a really excellent picture.

Nice TV

TV now works great. However, it arrived with a defect on the screen - three highly visible light blue dots (1/4 to 1/8 inch in diameter) about 9 inches apart in the center of the screen plus a pattern of tiny light blue dots that looked like the milky way. Panasonic referred me to their authorized service center where the TV was repaired (replaced the panel).

Another fantastic Panasonic Product

Bought this TV for the bedroom. It has a fantastic picture and great sound quality. One great feature is the automatic picture adjustment based on the room ambient lighting, saves having to mess around with the picture when you flip on the side table lamp. Also the factory color presets actually support the intended display, example: cinema setting looks more like film.
The only thing this set doesn't have that I would have like is an IP/Ethernet port. Otherwise I am extremely happy. Plenty of HDMI ports too.

Excellent TV at a good price

After trying two other flat screen TVs and studying different models in showrooms and on the the web, my wife and I gave this model a try. My wife can be very sensitive to the intensity of an LCD TV picture and one thing she likes about this TV is that is has great adjustments for contrast, brightness, etc. In particular, the "Cinema" setting tones the brightness down and gives good picture clarity. She can also select a picture size or formatting that makes videos, widescreen or full screen DVDs, etc., all look good. Furthermore, there is no noticeable blurring. Overall the quality of the picture is superb, and it was worth paying a little more for the 1080p. Even TV programs not broadcast in high-def look great. In addition, unlike other TVs, the speakers provide sound of sufficient volume and excellent quality. I also like that it has plenty of inputs (including 3 HDMI, 1 component, and 2 composite inputs). Its ability to interface with SD cards and computers is also neat. And, in my limited experience, Panasonic has excellent customer service, with personnel who, in general, are more knowledgeable than most I have talked with at Samsung in regards to that company's products. My only complaint is that the only audio output on this TV is digital/optical (for new "home entertainment" systems), which, apparently, is the direction newer LCD TVs this size and up are going. Sometimes I need to use headphones when I am playing something to which my wife does not want to listen. In order to do this I connect my Blu-Ray/VHS/or satellite box output to the input of a little 2 watt amplifier I have and run the headphones off of that, using the amplifier's volume control, with the TV volume on "mute". I would like for this TV to have a 1/8" audio output. In spite of that, in my opinion it is worth 5 stars.

Panasonic TC-P50s2 great buy!

This tv is a great asset to our living room. Aside from the GREAT picture quality that the other reviewers have attested too, the tv has a sleek look. That is, the tv has a nice black finish surrounding the screen. Also, this tv doesn't have a glossy finish on the panel(personal preference, I don't like the glossy finish on the screen). Unfortunately, the tv doesn't come with a swivel stand. Overall, we have have been extremely happy with this tv. If you're on the fence about it, don't be, it's a great buy!

Visual Feast, Heavy Load!

I did a lot of research to find this TV that was to be my first big-screen plasma. It is the home theater anchor so it's got to be impressive. I didn't realize it was going to be great.

First, the shipper R&L brought it nearly perfect (gash in the box bothered me a bit but no problem inside) half-way across the country. It was surprisingly easy to get out of the box. But, to me, this TV weights more than 70 pounds. Closer to 70 kilograms. I was alone putting it up on a big Zline Sync TV stand (great too) and that was a special, a bit difficult, careful task. I think the tv weighs more like 110 lbs. So, be careful. Probably best to use two people, but even then you have to be very careful. The manual says you need a special wall mount but don't worry about that since it's not findable on the internet and if you have a mount for a 54+ inch tv, it will work. If you don't mount it on a stand you absolutely have to find the wall studs because this sweety will rip your drywall to shreds.

The techies are prudent about the idea of a 100 hour break-in which I did at low Bright and Contrast. You really should calibrate the TV and I used a AIX blue-ray and AVIA dvd disc and split the difference between various brightness and contrast tests. This is not too hard to do and may hold your interest for hours if you've never seen it before. The tv's default setting of generally 75 sharpness should be brought down to far lower, 20s or less, as this does not affect the picture of high def-TV ... 1080i or p is as sharp as it will get ... but over-sharp does have negative effects so check the Home Theater blogs for info on that.

THX looks great, but the actual calibration that I customized was slightly different. So, it's nice to compare the two and decide how to watch. Movies I usually go with the THX, but sports or news or etc I use the customized version. Depending on the light level of your room, your own calibration will be different. There are settings for vivid and game that are super-bright but unless you want a rapid panel burn-out don't put the tv in a place where the sun shines on it or run it at a hyper brightness level... you just don't need it!

One thing you do want to do is observe at a minimum 7 to 8 foot viewing distance and maximum about 10-15 feet. I like the "huge" effect so I'm set up for 8 feet and at that close range you will get banding effects for some old movies and DVDs. That's expected. In fact, if that didn't happen, I'd be a bit worried. Also, dvd motion will chop occasionally. But never a problem with HD sports or blue-ray. If you get this tv and don't have a blue-ray, it's like you're sitting in your car at the beach. You might think you're there, but you're not. I've not yet hooked up the computer to this tv but if you have a video card that will support it, then it's a possibility, and then internet capability too. It's nice to put SD cards and USB devices in the tv and have them read without a computer. Very nice indeed! This tv runs at about 3.875 amps so put a high-joule surge protector on it, the more the better, and use a clean-cable to your box and a HDMI to the TV (or reciever) and a clean ethernet and phone line connector because if you fry this jewel in a storm, it'll be a sad day. You'll need the HDMI to acually see the 1080p, in most cases.

All in all, I am totally pleased with the viewing experience.

Awesome tv

Just like the other reviewers I considered all of the top brands and local dimming LED. I started my research about a year ago and missed out on the last of the Kuro series from Pioneer. I was very hopeful that the Samsung 8000 and 9000 LEDs would be superior but was somewhat disappointed with the final product. You can't argue with the clarity of those TV's but the black levels, motion blur and soap opera effect of their digital processors made me think twice. Not to brag but budget was was not really a consideration for me, even though the samsung 9000 is about 5x the price. If you are considering a 50+ inch TV you are realistically not going to move it more than a few times. Maybe once when you mount it and twice when you take it down for the next TV. So the thinness and weight of the TV is not going to outweigh the picture quality. In terms of picture quality the LEDs just can't compare unless you settle for enhanced images that look like tv soap operas. I wanted to view movies in its purest form just like the theaters, sports without motion blur and be able to make out dark scenes in movies like underworld. If you want picture quality then go plasma. If you want best of breed technology in plasma then go Panasonic. They are adopting Pioneer's legendary kuro technology and each model is an improvement.

Panasonic 54"G25

Delivery from Pilot was excellent. Driver was right on time, helped remove the upper box and patiently waited while I checked the screen for hairline cracks and powered up the TV to assure it was operating.
G25 is a great compromise between cost and image quality. The VT series has deeper blacks, but is almost twice as much as the G25. The G25 blacks are just fantastic. THX mode has is a superb picture for both dark viewing and in an extremely light room. The AR coating on the screen does a great job of limiting reflections from windows etc during the day. Sound from the TV's speakers is just fine for normal viewing and the TV does an adequate job of upconverting SD channels although the Panasonic BD85 does a better job of upconverting DVDs. BluRay images are just stunning. I have not experienced any buzzing or floating blacks some users have reported. All in all more than very pleased with this HDTV.

Excellent TV and Amazon.com service

I recently purchased the TC-P54G25 from Amazon.com (not a re-seller) because Amazon stands behind their products with top-notch service and I felt some trepidation of buying a large flat panel on-line. Amazon arranged to ship the TV via Pilot Freight. Pilot arrived on-time, the TV was strapped into the truck in the upright position and carefully carried it inside. The driver even helped open the box to inspect the contents before signature and the driver said that he had delivered four other TVs that day! The TV is a May 2010 build, with a great picture and no issues whatsoever! Highly recommend this TV from Amazon.com.

Best Plasma Yet

We looked at LCD, LED and Plasma was still the best looking for high speed action-and the new burn-in prevention features sold us. Great service and delivery. Great picture!!! Does help to turn down the sharpness as the other reviewers say-the resolution is so fine already the default 75 is not needed. The 75 setting can create some grain with a less than true HD signal. One other thing I noticed-many reviewers say to use THX setting during burn in-but the THX setting is also trying to change the frame rate. This leads to annoying edge signals with standard def signals broadcast in HD. For example try putting on Directv Boomerang HD-with a low def broadcast-like say "Thundarr the Barbarian" and you will see some fuzz at the top of the screen. Flip THX off this goes away. This is not from the standard brightness and sharpness settings. Notice there is more than one page of settings when you change modes. Scroll down. In some of the modes the real changes are taking place on page 2 with color temp and noise reduction etc. So if you want to lower setting for burn in-just goto Custom or Standard and change the brightness etc. there on page 1. If you do want to mess with color temp etc-its neat that when you select these advance options for tuning-the rest of the menu goes away so you can see what the setting is doing to the picture a lot better.

Question : is plasma tv better or lcd? im planning to buy either panasonic lcd tv model th-p42s10s or plasma panasonic?
is plasma tv better or lcd? im planning to buy either panasonic lcd tv model th-p42s10s or plasma panasonic?

Answer:
LCD is lighter, brighter and consumes less power. The screen will have a "matte" finish so it will reflect less light.Plasma will have a better picture in low-light conditions - better blacks, most likely better gray scale and white-field uniformity, and more realistic colors. If your room is really bright then buy an LCD. If not then I personally prefer plasma.

Question : There are horizontal static lines running through my LCD TV. How do I fix it?
There are several static lines running horizontal through my Panasonic LCD TV. The TV Signal is coming through a Tivo series 2 box and then into the TV. Please help! Thank you!

Answer:
??? I'm going to guess that your signal source is a cable system and not an other the air antenna, but it would be helpful if you told us. Also, it would be helpful to know if you are getting these lines on all stations, or just some.Let's do a little troubleshooting here. Can you hook your cable directly to the TV and bypass the TIVO? I understand that you do not want to leave it this way and you may not have many channels, but lets just see if we have the lines when the TIVO is out of the system. Likewise, if you have a DVD player, it would be useful to know when playing the DVD, if you have these lines.Clearly if you have the lines during these experiments, your TV is at fault. If the lines are there only when the TIVO is hooked up, the TIVO is at fault. If you have the lines even when the TIVO is removed from the system, but there are no lines with the DVD, then it is your cable signal.

Question : Whats the difference between these two Panasonic LCD TV's?
Looking on Amazon and a few other sites, these two TV's look similar on paper, but there is no way of making a clear comparison as the specs never seems to be laid out similarly enough. Anyone know why there is such a price difference when the cheaper of the two DOES have freeview? One is LCCD TX32LXD60, a 32" Widescreen LCD screen TV around £750, and the other is TX-32LXD60 - 32" Widescreen Viera HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview around £600.

Apparently the 600 doesn't have freeview and the 60 does. You know this isn't a full hd ready set? It only has 768 lines compared to the full hd ready sets which have 1080 linesTo get the best prices, try this price comparison sitewww.pricegrabber.co.uk

Question : which is the best company for HD Lcd TV, SONY, PANASONIC, SHARP, LG?
hello friendz, please rate these companies product wise not rate wise...which is the best company FOR BUYING A FULL HD LCD TV, SONY, PANASONIC, SHARP and LG.

Answer:
Panasonic - makes amazing LCDs of 37" or smaller. Their colors and blacks are really tremendous; and their pricing is very competitive. For 42" or larger though, you should jump ship to the Panasonic Plasma line. In those sizes you will notice the advantages of Plasma, and get a far better viewing experience going that route.Samsung - typically considered the top dog in LCD manufacturing right now. They make the world's best panels. They make damn fine image processors as well. They should be in your consideration for an LCD of any size. I prefer the 4/5 series if under 37" and the 6" series if you break 42". And if you're going to cross above 50", I recommend going Plasma (Panasonic first, but Samsung makes decent Plasmas too) or going LED LCD from Samsung. That will cost a lot, but you need the benefits the technology provides at those sizes.Sony - tried, tested, and true. They over charge compared to competitors, but the quality is still there. You will get a good set from Sony that should last you for years to come. I like their L series in the 37" or smaller sizes. If you start going into their larger sizes then I would go with V, W, Z, or XBR series, and maybe just W, Z, and XBR. The V is okay, but I like some of the performance boosts from the other lines.Sharp - they make really good panels. So much so that Sony buys its panels from Sharp now. The ones used in the Aquos line are also used by Sony. Sony just adds its own image processor on top. I think Sharp's image processors are very strong as well. But I think they are just barely a nudge below Sony/Samsung. But can often be a fair bit cheaper. So I think there can be more 'bang for the buck' in Sharp, but for outright quality you might need to sneak up to Samsung/Sony (for an LCD that is).LG - I would consider a solid manufacturer. I think they make sets that people tend to be really happy with. Their prices are extremely competitive, which helps their reputation a lot. Outright image quality though, even their best sets, I think are more inline with say Sharp versus Panasonic (Plasma), Samsung (LCD), or Sony (LCD). But again, because of the price, they can offer a strong 'bang for the dollar' option for many people.

I have just bought a Panasonic LCD TV with built in freeview, at certain times of the day on freeview, ITV1, C

Answer:
That's close....about as close as I am to the Fort Wayne Transmitters....and I can't get 55. But the rest I can.Call the TV stations, see if they are running LOW POWER right now. That's what 55 is doing UNTIL they build new studios....OR you can put an outdoor antenna up, with a Power Amp on it, rather than the table top antenna....OR you can inspect your cabling and make sure its not damaged....Or you can actually COMPLAIN to a TV engineer/repairman and pay him to test/verify your antenna system is in good shape.....

Question : How to connect PC HP 520 to Panasonic Viera LCD TV?
I have trouble when connecting the LCD TV Panasonic TX-37LX75M to PC Laptop HP 520 or HP 540.I used VGA D-sub port to connect. With others Laptop I've used before, it's OK (Sony Vaio laptop, Shap Laptop): My LCD can display at the resolution 1280x768. But with the laptop HP 520 or HP 540, the LCD can't dislay at that resolution but also display at 1024x768 and 800x600 only. When I set to 1280x768 or 1280x720 or higher, LCD TV screen was black like no signal, but laptop screen displays well.I think there are some problem with output signal of this kind of Laptop (HP 520), may be it's too weak. I've try to connect with CRT monitor, it was OK with all resolution. Who had the same problem to me. Please show me your solution. Thanks.

Answer:
There MIGHT be a FRAME rate problem with the HP....maybe it's set to 70 hz automatically instead of 60 Hz...Another possibility is the Horizontal frequency of the video card in 1280 x 768 mode...I don't know how it could be different, but that must be the reason why the HP doesn't work but all others do work with the TV set.

Question : Will this computer play world of warcraft & hook up to my panasonic lcd tv.?
http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=ET1831-07

Answer:
Sure, but you'd have to put in a video card by yourself. That computer has integrated graphics, and integrated graphics are crap. Everything else seems fine though. Make sure that the video card you buy has HDMI. Sadly, emachines usually have pretty crappy power supplies, so u might need to replace that too depending on the video card youll get.

Question : Which is better Panasonic or LCD tv's?
Im looking for a 32" TV for my bedroom and a 50" TV for the living room and i heard that the bulbs in the LCD tv's go out in about 2 yrs and the warranty doesnt cover it soooo even though the Panasonic needs recharged every so often its actually better to buy it.

Answer:
LCD FLAT PANEL TVS do not use the replaceable lamps...PROJECTION LCD and DLPs do.Keep that in mind...Panasonic Plasmas are the most reliable, well built plasmas around, with a good company supporting it.With LCD Flat Panel TV sets, you can choose SONY (better electronics/engineering) or Samsung (another good choice, slightly less than Sony's)
