STUNNING PICTURE!

This model appears to be the same as the TH42PZ85U and was purchased from COSTCO. Ever since purchasing a Panasonic SD9 high definition video camera I have been wishing to upgrade my TV to the HD format. After looking at many LCD and Plasma televisions I found myself drawn to the Panasonic Plasma HDTV. After a six month wait I took the plung and purchased the 42" Panasonic 1080p HD set. I haven't used it for regular television broadcasts yet, but have set it up to play my Blu-ray player(also a Panasonic), an HD player and a DVD recorder. The footage that I have shot with the Panasonic HD camera is nothing short of STUNNING on this set! Watching this footage reminds of the days of 70mm presentations in movie theatres when we saw stunning images from films like "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Sound of Music", "West Side Story", etc. The Blu-ray, HD and HD video all have incredible color, brightness and sharpness. The Panasonic Plasma was not difficult to set up and I'm am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended!

Spectacular TV

This TV has the best picture I've ever seen on a TV. Everyone who comes over and sees it says the same thing, even on the standard channels. The HD through Direct TV is like nothing I've ever seen. Even just a standard DVD looks awesome. I highly recommend this set!

Great Product , Great Service from Amazon

Bought this product from Amazon after returning a crappy craapy Samsung 5064 50" plasma. Couldn't be happier with my decision. With Samsung; I'd get a bad feeling everytime I turned the TV on that I wont work and you know what ...one day it actually didn't. Luckily that all happened withint 30 days so before I had to deal with more of Samsung's D grade horrible customer service, Amazon came to my rescue and I swapped it with this Panny 77U . Its a great TV, picture is stunningly clear, the speakers are very good. The SD also isnt bad at all , it looks a little strecthed (cuz i see it full screen to avoid any burn in) but its pretty good. I get a 1080i signal and with some adjustments , I have no complains about the picture whatsoever. It is also not as warm as Samsung. Just one thing I wish it had was more picture controls like gamma correction or something like that cuz i wish I can get a little more brighter picture , not that its bad but sometimes its nice to have brighter piture without maxing out the contrast and picture settings. But all in all 5 stars for the TV and 6 stars to Amazon for their great customer service and white glove delivery which is amazingly fast , efficient and curteous.

Just what I expected

I spent alot of time looking at hundreds of different plasmas and lcds, every time I looked at a different tv I always came back to this model. I love the anti-glare and it works great for my PS3 and blueray movies. Its perfect in blueray. For the price the 720P was the better choice for me. I have had this tv for almost a year now and have had no problems. Everyone that comes over thinks it is awesome, I can't be happier with this set.

WOW..WOW..WOW

Have had this window on the world for 8 months now and I must say I can't watch any of my other sets (non HD) anymore. Have it connected to Direct TV HD and it is wonderful. Was able to watch the Masters golf tourney for the first time on HD and it was like I had never seen it before even though I watch every year. The detail and sharpness is just awesome. Direct TV supplies all the cables so no need to purchase those. Just get it, you will enjoy TV like never before!

Excellent value

I have had this tv for close to a year now. I purchased it with amazon's white glove delivery included. The delivery company called to schedule a time, and they actually came out on a Sunday to accommodate my work schedule. The tv is beautiful and has great resolution. The customer service is outstanding. I was a bit challenged hooking up older models of DVD player and VCR and the customer service guy patiently talked me through the connection. There is a very easy to use function to switch to dvd or vcr play. Set up is easy. The only problem I've had (and it's probably that I don't have the connection quite right) is that I have to turn up the volume from the normal 15-20 to 45-55 for dvd play. I am very happy with this tv and highly recommend it.

Died too young

Buyer beware! I bought the Panasonic TH-42PX80U in October 2008. The picture was great and I loved it. Nineteen months later, the set died. Just like that, dead as a rock. Apparently the power supply has gone out and the estimates to fix are more than the cost of a new one. Panasonic has been NO help whatsoever. The manufacturer's warranty expired after one year and they made it clear they will not allow any leeway. Buy one if you feel like gambling, otherwise stay away from Panasonic and their horrible product support.

Great easy LCD television

Between work, home and for my parents I have purchased four of these Panasonics. They have a good quality image and easy to use and connect. The SD card player is super slow so don't buy it for that (we rarely use it) and the iPod connector seems cool but we've never used it. Remote control is good and easy, my 70's parents can easily navigate. It get's surprisingly great reception of free broadcast HD Television signal from an antenna, DVD's and Blu-rays look great also. It's a simple 720 HD TV for reasonable price and gives superior image to others out there.

Editorial Review :

Introducing the world's first consumer television with the innovative LiFi¿ light source. LiFi stands for LIght FIdelity. This is a brand-new way to achieve long light source life, quick start-up time and high color fidelity for projection displays. Unlike conventional LCD projection TVs, the LiFi light source lasts so long it might never need to be changed. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps used in conventional LCD projection TVs contain electrodes that deteriorate, causing diminished brightness and possible damage to the lamp itself. LiFi does not utilize electrodes, which helps achieve more stable performance and a long lifespan. The light source in Panasonic LiFi HDTVs offers full spectrum illumination that faithfully reproduces brilliant red, emerald green and natural skin tones. Whether you're watching hidden camera footage of rare Amazon Forest dwellers or taking in the local newscast, the lifelike color is a bright, beautiful enhancement to your HDTV experience. The LiFi lamp is an advancement in technology that offers advantages that you can see and hear - or not, in the case of scintillation noise. HID lamps generate noise, especially at high brightness levels. You won't hear the hum with the LiFi because it operates at lower wavelengths. Plus, because the small LiFi bulb heats up quickly when you power up, the start-up time of the HDTV is as low as 10 seconds. Once your HDTV is ready to watch, there's no flicker, as with some LCD TVs.Everything about the LiFi HDTV is designed to bring you to a new level of viewing pleasure. The amazing colors are boosted by the floating feeling provided by the flat panel design, and the audio is rendered more lifelike by the invisible speakers that help fuse picture and sound.

Great TV

I've had this TV for about 10 months now and I still can't believe how good the picture is when I'm watching high def sports! I traded in a Mits 65" for this one after a week of listening to a very noisy unit. Color wheel, cooling fan, all makes for a lot of noise. Noise that THIS set doesn't make. Another advantage over the Mits is that if I'm moving around the room or I have a lot of people over, we can see the picture pretty well at an angle. If you weren't dead center to the Mits, you couldn't see the picture at all. Here is my review of the unit, http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-65734-65-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B000RIWEN6/ref=cm_cr-mr-title where I get slammed for slamming it! But frankly this is a better tv to my eyes. Do take into cosideration that I rarely watch movies, I bought this to watch football and hockey. So some reviews that go on about the blacks appearing grey...well I don't notice that. Looks like the LIFI is a winner!

Guys this TV is the Future!

Guys I bought this thing in Jan, and I have just now hooked it up and got the ball running. People this TV picture is Outstanding! Period! I mean I had like 15 people over come over and each and every one said this was the best picture they had seen all hands down. I love this Tv and backed with a 5yr warranty you can't go wrong. Panasonic says this bulb may never have to be changed. Wow! Sad news though guys this model will soon be phased out. Why because Panasonic is moving towards an all LCD Model trend. But hey LIFI will still be used so the way I look at are that when I want to by another one of these puppies it will definitly be LCD. Great Tv, Good Buy and a sure must have!

Great picture, while it lasts!

I had bought this TV just over 3 years ago. Picture quality was great, but the sound is a bit low, especially anything hooked up through the HDMI ports. Also, you need to be a USMC sharpshooter to hit the right spot for the remote to work.
Problem is, our first service call was within a few months of purchase...no problem, it's under warranty still. Well, then there was another, still under warranty. Now, at year 3, the warranty is up and my 3rd service call technician just informed me that the OPT/TV unit has to be replaced, which would cost almost $2000 to fix! While I don't expect an item to last forever, for the amount of money this cost, I would expect more than 3 years.

Rating :

A GREAT HDTV!

Big picture, big sound. It's already amazing by itself, but once it's connected to a PS3 and a Home Theater with HDMI cables, it can't be beat... not to mention that it's only about 70lbs!

Question : I have a panasonic viera LCD 37in tv and an LG dvd/vcr combo and would like to know how to setup the remotes?
LG remote and Panasonic remotes only use on their own devices, how do i interlink them?....also how do i setup to record what is on Digital channels ?

Answer:
Open your owners manual for the tv and follow the direction of programming the remote to control the dvd/vcr. You'll need to connect the cable from the cable company to the vcr for you to record it on the vcr. You are not going to get the best picture out of the vcr, it is not a digital recorder.

Question : which is the best company for HD Lcd TV, SONY, PANASONIC, SHARP, LG?
hello friendz, please rate these companies product wise not rate wise...which is the best company FOR BUYING A FULL HD LCD TV, SONY, PANASONIC, SHARP and LG.

Answer:
Panasonic - makes amazing LCDs of 37" or smaller. Their colors and blacks are really tremendous; and their pricing is very competitive. For 42" or larger though, you should jump ship to the Panasonic Plasma line. In those sizes you will notice the advantages of Plasma, and get a far better viewing experience going that route.Samsung - typically considered the top dog in LCD manufacturing right now. They make the world's best panels. They make damn fine image processors as well. They should be in your consideration for an LCD of any size. I prefer the 4/5 series if under 37" and the 6" series if you break 42". And if you're going to cross above 50", I recommend going Plasma (Panasonic first, but Samsung makes decent Plasmas too) or going LED LCD from Samsung. That will cost a lot, but you need the benefits the technology provides at those sizes.Sony - tried, tested, and true. They over charge compared to competitors, but the quality is still there. You will get a good set from Sony that should last you for years to come. I like their L series in the 37" or smaller sizes. If you start going into their larger sizes then I would go with V, W, Z, or XBR series, and maybe just W, Z, and XBR. The V is okay, but I like some of the performance boosts from the other lines.Sharp - they make really good panels. So much so that Sony buys its panels from Sharp now. The ones used in the Aquos line are also used by Sony. Sony just adds its own image processor on top. I think Sharp's image processors are very strong as well. But I think they are just barely a nudge below Sony/Samsung. But can often be a fair bit cheaper. So I think there can be more 'bang for the buck' in Sharp, but for outright quality you might need to sneak up to Samsung/Sony (for an LCD that is).LG - I would consider a solid manufacturer. I think they make sets that people tend to be really happy with. Their prices are extremely competitive, which helps their reputation a lot. Outright image quality though, even their best sets, I think are more inline with say Sharp versus Panasonic (Plasma), Samsung (LCD), or Sony (LCD). But again, because of the price, they can offer a strong 'bang for the dollar' option for many people.

Question : Should i buy a 32 inch Samsung or Sony or Panasonic LCD TV ???? please help!!?
i am confused me and my friend Jen need help pleasewhich brand of 32 inch LCD tv is best!!

Answer:
Yor question is one of the most asked question on the internet.Samsung drives the brighter, deeper, darker images than any. When you buy a samsung, you buy a LED tv with a panel manufacturedby the company "S - LCD" which belongs to 50/50 % sony and samsung. The S - LCD company is fully driven under samsung engineering.Today, sony seems to buy their panels from "sharp corp" and trying toseperate from samsung due to the cold war (high competition ) betweenthem. You dont need to think about a Panasonic at all.Just go for the samsung UN32C6500 32" 1080p LED HDTV.Theres no better picture quality you can buy for 32".

Question : There are horizontal static lines running through my LCD TV. How do I fix it?
There are several static lines running horizontal through my Panasonic LCD TV. The TV Signal is coming through a Tivo series 2 box and then into the TV. Please help! Thank you!

Answer:
??? I'm going to guess that your signal source is a cable system and not an other the air antenna, but it would be helpful if you told us. Also, it would be helpful to know if you are getting these lines on all stations, or just some.Let's do a little troubleshooting here. Can you hook your cable directly to the TV and bypass the TIVO? I understand that you do not want to leave it this way and you may not have many channels, but lets just see if we have the lines when the TIVO is out of the system. Likewise, if you have a DVD player, it would be useful to know when playing the DVD, if you have these lines.Clearly if you have the lines during these experiments, your TV is at fault. If the lines are there only when the TIVO is hooked up, the TIVO is at fault. If you have the lines even when the TIVO is removed from the system, but there are no lines with the DVD, then it is your cable signal.

Question : I have a panasonic flatscreen LCD TV, where I watch cable through iO, without a cablebox...?
Will I be affected by the DTV transition? I pay a monthly cablevision bill, and two other TV's in my home use cable set top boxes. Will my one TV without a set top box - which is connected to cablevision through a black cable - be affected?I don't have "ghetto" cable nor an illegal box. It's all paid, just an extra line is run to this TV without a cable box.

Answer:
It all depends on your cable provider. I won't be, But many people using Time Warner will be affected for sure.
