Great TV, especially for the price!
The TV arrived defective but the problem was quickly taken care of by Panasonic. I got the 50" and 54" versions of the TV for different rooms in the house. The 50" looks slightly better in my opinion, but that is expected considering the size difference. HD FiOs looks incredible, my XBOX 360 looks even better, and blu-rays are absolutely mind-blowingly clear. The colors are excellent and required minimal tweaking. I did calibrate to THX standards, but it was fairly close to the out of box settings. If you own this TV do yourself a favor and set it to Cinema mode and leave it for all viewing types. It's clearer than the other modes. The power draw is near the level of LCDs, blacks are deeper, and whites are shockingly nearly as bright too! A fast screen refresh rate and life over 30 years before dropping to half its brightness makes this TV pretty much impossible to beat dollar for dollar. Would definitely buy a Panny again.

Excellent Plasma and great price
I just got my TV delivered today, I hooked up my PS3, Xbox360, HD DVR cable box and it looks fantastic so far. You can beat the price/performance ratio on Plasma.

Great TV for the Price
You are not going to find a better TV for the price. It is by far the best TV out there.
I have been watching a lot of TV on it and it is absolutely perfect. Things seem so life like on the tv it is unbelievable. I cant wait to watch things on blue ray and see the actual quality that it will produce. I do wish it had a theater mode (thx) but it does not come on the S line. Watching sports is awesome because there is no pixilation that is caused because of the natural 600 refresh rate on the tv. If you are looking for a great tv from a great manufacturer then this set if the perfect fit.

Great Pix ... but dreaded "buzz"
After repeated back-order of the new Panasonic 58" plasma, I "settled" for this TV. Although only slightly smaller, but MUCH less expensive it features a superb picture that has deep colors, true black, and very bright (if needed for a light room).
As a retired broadcast exec. I'm fussy about my video, and this set is excellent in almost every way. Even the bezel and glass screen minimize glare. The speakers are only adequate, but with the mony I saved thru Amazon I'm just installing a surround system.
The only problem is a faulty high voltage circuit emitting a hum or buzz when displaying bright images. This was evident by the third day, and getting worse as the set warmed up. A call directly to Panasonic (with only a 3-minute wait) scheduled a local service call. Two guys just left having ordered a replacement part to be sent overnight "because you have Concierge Service thru Amazon/ Panasonic". I'll be without this set for a couple of days next week, but I was very impressed with the no hassle - no excuse service.
The original delivery was also "white glove" with two guys unpacking and setting up the TV to my existing Charter Cable service.
Yes, the TV should not have been defective out-of-box; but I appreciate the better than average service that I've received so far.
UPDATE:
After 48 hours, TV was returned (and set up) working perfectly! A defective high voltage transformer in the power supply was replaced. All costs and on-site pickup/delivery handled by a local repair company under contract with Panasonic.
On another note; if you're concerned about picture burn-in or image retention with this plasma set, don't be. Panasonic has a built in automatic "pixelator" and also a manual (if you'd prefer) moving image bar that eliminates any need to baby this set during it's initial setup.

Great deal
Everything it was promised to be! I highly recommend it. For the money you will be hard pressed to find better. The only cons that that I can come up w for this TV is that it does make a faint humming noise when it is turned on. But, unless u are sitting 1 foot away from the TV while watching, the sound is inaudible. Great plasma!

Great picture and perfect size for guest bedroom
I just received this television and am very happy with it for multiple reasons: 1. It's the perfect size for our guest bedroom (approx. 10x12). We tried a 42" plasma but it seemed to take up too much space on the dresser and dominated the room. 2. In my opinion, the picture is better than the plasma we tried (42" Samsung). Plasmas have darker blacks, but the colors just don't pop like they do on the LCD televisions we have (we also have a 52" Samsung LCD in the family room). FYI, we have a 42" Panasonic plasma in our bedroom which I like, so maybe Panasonic just makes a better TV in this price range. Who knows? 3. Set-up was incredibly easy. 8 screws to attach the base to the TV and you're done with that part. The TV leads you through a set-up procedure when you turn it on the first time: setting the language, date/time, selecting/naming input sources, etc. 4. The iPod/iPhone plug-in is a nice add-on. Basically, it's a free throw in and if nothing else, you can use it as a charger for your iPod/iPhone even if you don't want to play music with it.
I would go so far as to recommend this TV for a main television given the overall picture quality and ease of use. For the price, this one is going to be tough to beat.

No complaints, really...
Got this because I moved into a new apartment that already had a bracket on the wall for a flatscreen TV with a label that said, "No greater than 37 inches". So I looked for 37-inch models online and compared, and got this one because it was at a reasonable price and had the extra feature of the iPod/iPhone dock. Sometimes I'm driving home from work listening to podcasts and want to plug the iPhone in somewhere at the house to finish listening to it.
I use it mostly with an Apple TV via HDMI (another reason I got a 720p instead of a 1080p) and it looks great. I purchased a Sharp Sound Bar (HTSB500) separately and they work nicely together, but there's one little bug. I linked them with an optical cable (the only all-audio-out option in the TV) and every time the audio goes totally silent, like when I pause the Apple TV, or even when it goes from one song to another, the sound bar stops working for up to 6 seconds, which is rather annoying. I'm guessing the soundbar "turns itself off" when it detects no signal the awakes after hearing it, but the delay can be very annoying. It works fine as long as the audio stream is not interrupted though.
Not sure what else to say about the TV, other than it works great for me.

Nice Sized LCD Television
We purchased this for a 12'x14' bedroom and it seems ideal for that space. It seems quite large in there in fact. I guess that's the idea now. The model we got has a slot for an SD Memory card for viewing digital photos -- very nice feature. The i-Pod dock has not been used on ours - there are better speakers available for that. These new age TV's don't have the crispness of picture available in a CRT television with a good signal. That's really the only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. I suspect the Panasonic is the equal of any brand. The projected screen life was longer on Panasonic than on some other brands. We've had our TC-L37 for 18 months with no problems to note. The only complaint is speaker volume is not really loud, but it sounds good. Colors are accurate and blacks are nearly black. You don't need, nor could you benefit from, a 1080p 37-inch screen.

Excellent picture in HD or SD
The other reviewer probably needed a professional setup as many of the HD sets need it to counter the overly bright factory settings that are more for a showy picture to sell it in a showroom, but will shorten it's life span. Compared to many other sets, this one looks great, especially for the money. Per CR, reliability for Panasonic hd tvs is excellent too. Sound from the tv speakers is good enough for most shows I watch, but of course it sounds better with my home theater speaker setup. The color looks great on mine with minimal adjustment and the overall picture is excellent with an HDMI signal and through my component dvd. Contrast and Brightness levels seem to be good in our den. It's missing USB and VGA ports though which I knew prior to sale since I had done my homework online. Overall a great tv at a great price.

Love it
This is my first HDTV purchase and I'm very happy with it. A friend suggested I go with Panasonic as I'd get the most bang for my buck, and she was right.
The stand was easy enough to assemble and the set looks and feels well-constructed and appropriate for any room decor. The menus are user-friendly and initial setup was a breeze; an explanation is shown for every available option, so people who aren't familiar with funny acronyms don't need to look through the user manual.
The video quality is outstanding. I tested it first with my PS3 (my main reason for buying a tv) and the colors really pop out at you. I was worried that the plasma would be too dark, but it handles both bright and dark colors exceptionally well. Nothing looks washed out or too black. The only complaint is that the screen brightness can be overpowering with the Game and Vivid settings (I'm more a fan of the latter, but it depends on the game), but the brightness can be adjusted and the adaptive lighting seems to work well enough. I would have liked an overall gamma setting, but you can tweak the video to be nearly perfect with the tv options and the video source's settings. Also, the anti-glare works well enough that I can keep one set of curtains open while viewing and the picture doesn't suffer.
Next, I connected my laptop through its HDMI output (most customers probably don't have this but I'll mention it anyway). 1680x1050 resolution seems to work the best as 1920 left the desktop looking too small and making it easier to notice the pixels, and anything smaller doesn't fit just perfectly. I think these are issues with my laptop giving the tv strange resolutions that it's not used to, but these aren't enough to detract from the quality of the tv. I tested a few games at 1280x960 and they looked better than they do on my laptop's screen (anything less than 1680 on my computer is fuzzy). As mentioned before, small portions were cut off of the left and right sides but it was only enough to notice while on menus. I'll definitely be using this tv as a monitor for schoolwork. Movie quality is great with compressed video files, so I'm sure the blu ray will be amazing.
The speakers are sub-par, but they're not terrible. I was still able to enjoy the games without the extra oomph of a solid set with a woofer, but my next priority will be audio.
I'm satisfied with the connections in the back of the tv. I'm only using it for HDMI and occasionally the RCA at the moment, but the optical audio out is convenient if go that route for speakers (I'm not sure if this is standard now but I like it).
Overall, I'm very happy with the tv and would buy it again. The price you pay is well worth the quality you get out of it. Aside from a few minor issues and poor speakers, it's a great HDTV.

Ok for the price
Not a bad picture, but be prepared to tweak it until you're happy. The other reviewer is correct about the brightness. I saw this in the shop, and they had it pegged to almost max. Understandable with the flo lights they have in the store. Reviewer number two is missing the point on his purchase. You don't buy an HD based on it's audio quality, and you don't buy it for S-Video. This is like saying your surround receiver doesn't have good audio in mono.
is this a top notch set. Nope, but considering what I paid compared to what I could have paid a year ago, I'm quite happy with this as my first HD set.

bad color balance, poor sound, no S-Video, good slide viewer
Panasonic's CRT-TVs were renowned for their good colors that held up well for a variety of programs and sources, and I expected their HD-Plasma TV to be even better. This is not the case: in all of the display modes, the greens are too bright and cannot be sufficiently reduced by the available adjustments. The problem is worst in the STANDARD color setting; shifting TINT into the negative corrects this problem only a little: eventually everything looks either too magenta or too green. The CINEMA setting adds a yellow tinge that isn't much of a help: even after lengthy fiddling with the available adjustments, the sky looks more green than blue and the grass yellowish. The relatively best colors can be had in the VIVID setting with CONTRAST=50, BRIGHTNESS=0, COLOR=45, TINT=-2; but still every object that is medium green in nature shines as if it's illuminated from the back. In the hope of finding hidden service adjustments that might correct these problems, I tried to order a service manual from Panasonic, which was always easy in the past. Now they moved their parts department call center to India and nothing works any more. To finish the story on the picture, the chip reader renders the JPG-images much too bright and washed out. It almost seems as if Panasonic is trying to duplicate the worst of the LCD computer monitors, which have these flaws too. The best remedy here is the same as for those PC monitors: to reduce the gamma of the picture from 1 to about 0.8-0.7 before copying it to the chip. Interestingly, the color balance is then pretty good: a proof that it can be fine with this set if it would just be properly adjusted. The sound was never a strong point of Panasonic TVs. They now specify 20W at 10% harmonic distortion. This distortion spec used to be customary in radios of the 30s and 40s and was abandoned in the HiFi-world around 1960 in favor of 100 times more stringent limits; and 20 watts of power would certainly vaporize those two little speakers. But Panasonic has cleverly prevented that by providing very low audio gain; one must crank up the VOLUME to 70 just to listen to some talking heads, and then the distortion becomes already audible. If you want to watch your VHS tapes over an S-Video connection, you are out of luck with this (and almost all other) HD-TVs; back to the 'ole composite video. An external S-Video to component-video up-converter can be found for $150; but you had to have a high-def TV, didn't you.

Great so far.
I've had the TV for 6 weeks and have no complaints so far. Picture was excellent right out of the box and a little cheat sheet Panasonic provides makes setup a no- brainer. I am on the east coast and received the TV 3 days after I ordered it.

Dissapointed with Panasonic Viera 37 in LCD TV
This TV set looks pretty good on paper - Lots of different inputs (3xHDMI, Component, PC, etc.), relatively inexpensive, Panasonic brand name. However, I was rather disappointed with it.
First, the video/audio quality is not what one would expect from a modern 37 in LCD TV. For example, I could clearly see 'ghosting" in the first action movie that I put in the DVD (connected via HDMI, of course). On a side note, I was much more pleased after watching the same scene on the LG tv (37in, 60hz, 4ms) which replaced this set.
Second, the Panasonic was not able to display the input from my PC correctly - the image was blurry and stretched out no matter what settings I tried (no such issue with the LG mentioned above).
Finally, this TV broke on the first day. Search online for "Panasonic Blinking light of Death" if you would like to read more about the, apparently infamous, issue with some (most?) Panasonic LCDs.
I cannot recommend this TV, 2/5

Sound problems
This product arrived on time and a nice guy delivered it and told me not to open it yet because it was a bit cold out and if you plug something like this in when it's cold, it could fry it. So I waited a few hours until I believed it had reached room temp. and set it up quite easily. The stand was easy to assemble as opposed to some of the Samsung reviews, which is why I didn't buy a Samsung. The ease of use was great and it has a very nice picture. The bad thing about it is that the sound has problems....it warbles and echoes and it is sporadic and will quit if you turn off the TV. So, in the first week I had it, I had to call Panasonic. The guy I spoke to told me that it must be my cable box because the speakers are so simple that they couldn't possibly be the problem. So, he told me to unplug my cable box for a while and then plug it back in. Well, that didn't fix it. A couple of weeks later I got a call from Panasonic saying that they had a record of my call and that indeed, there is a problem with the TV when connected via an HDMI cable and they were going to send me some firmware to fix the problem. Several weeks later they sent me two SD cards with the supposed fix. When I put the first card in, it could not read the file. So, I called them again and after waiting a half hour on hold, I finally got through to someone who said that the file didn't have what I needed and that they would send me another set of SD cards. That was yesterday....I bought the TV on April 29, 2010 and this is June 21, 2010. Needless to say, I probably won't be buying another Panasonic any time soon.

Questions & Answers
Question : I have just bought a Panasonic LCD TV, Problem with no signal?
The set is only a week old, it is connected ok, sometimes ITV1 and CH4 show "no signal" when viewed through Freeview, when I switch back to Analogue, they are on air. I live about 12 miles from the Oxford transmitter. Is this a common fault, if so who do I complain to?Thanks
Answer:
That's close....about as close as I am to the Fort Wayne Transmitters....and I can't get 55. But the rest I can.Call the TV stations, see if they are running LOW POWER right now. That's what 55 is doing UNTIL they build new studios....OR you can put an outdoor antenna up, with a Power Amp on it, rather than the table top antenna....OR you can inspect your cabling and make sure its not damaged....Or you can actually COMPLAIN to a TV engineer/repairman and pay him to test/verify your antenna system is in good shape.....

Question : How is Panasonic LCD TV - TC-26LX70 ?
http://review-about.blogspot.com/2007/08/panasonic-lcd-tv-tc-26lx70.html
Answer:
This is a really nice 26" LCD with 2 HDMI inputs and 1366X768 (720p) resolution. Pricing seems to be in the $600-$750 range. Panasonic makes a quality LCD, as well as plasma HDTV. You could do a whole lot worse for a small LCD HDTV.

Question : Is it possible to switch on a panasonic tv (txl32v10b) using the timer function?
I recently bought a panasonic lcd tv and thought, from reading the manual online before buying it, that I could use the timer to switch it on automatically in place of my alarm. The orange LED flickers during the timer period, so I guess that I've set it correctly, but the screen and sound stay off :-/
Answer:
Great topic! I've been looking to buy a lcd tv with a timer alarm function, but can't find one. If this setting works for you, please let me know. Thanks

Question : is plasma tv better or lcd? im planning to buy either panasonic lcd tv model th-p42s10s or plasma panasonic?
is plasma tv better or lcd? im planning to buy either panasonic lcd tv model th-p42s10s or plasma panasonic?
Answer:
LCD is lighter, brighter and consumes less power. The screen will have a "matte" finish so it will reflect less light.Plasma will have a better picture in low-light conditions - better blacks, most likely better gray scale and white-field uniformity, and more realistic colors. If your room is really bright then buy an LCD. If not then I personally prefer plasma.

Question : Having trouble with my Panasonic LCD tv?

Can you still eject it?? If so, do that first, then turn TV off at wall for a while, which may reset everything? If still no good, contact local service agent, or Panasonic customer support! All the best.

Question : I have a 32" panasonic viera lcd tv and a 40 gb ps3. I want to get an hdmi cable but which ones work the best?
Does it really matter what price the hdmi cable is or what brand it is from? Because i want to get something for less than $20 and something that works great and lasts long.
Answer:
If the distance between TV and PS3 is less than 3 meters - any cable will work, just buy one for 10-15$ and that's it. If the distance is bigger - get Monstercable or Sony, etc.

Question : There are horizontal static lines running through my LCD TV. How do I fix it?
There are several static lines running horizontal through my Panasonic LCD TV. The TV Signal is coming through a Tivo series 2 box and then into the TV. Please help! Thank you!
Answer:
??? I'm going to guess that your signal source is a cable system and not an other the air antenna, but it would be helpful if you told us. Also, it would be helpful to know if you are getting these lines on all stations, or just some.Let's do a little troubleshooting here. Can you hook your cable directly to the TV and bypass the TIVO? I understand that you do not want to leave it this way and you may not have many channels, but lets just see if we have the lines when the TIVO is out of the system. Likewise, if you have a DVD player, it would be useful to know when playing the DVD, if you have these lines.Clearly if you have the lines during these experiments, your TV is at fault. If the lines are there only when the TIVO is hooked up, the TIVO is at fault. If you have the lines even when the TIVO is removed from the system, but there are no lines with the DVD, then it is your cable signal.

Question : Panasonic LCD TV Flashing Strobe-like Picture?
We have a problem with our Panasonic LCD TV. It's a 32-inch LCD TV (Model #TC-32lx600), with a Time Warner HD DVR Cable Box hooked in by HDMI cable. When TV turns on, the picture comes up flashing (like a strobe light effect), and the picture keeps moving up the screen like on old flim strip. Other connections like component did not work nor any other inputs like DVD Players and a PS3 (same effect). Please help or offer any suggestions rather than buy a new one or get it to a repair shop. Had this TV for 18 months.
Answer:
HDMI can exhibit strobe-like flashing...I suggest unplugging both the TV set and the Cable box to reset both computers....leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Then plug the cable box in first, followed by the TV set. Give it two minutes, then turn on the Cable box followed by the TV right after it....Why all this "do this first, then this next"? To assure proper handshaking between the Cable box and the TV set. Now, if you still have that strobing problem at this point THEN you KNOW your TV set needs a new signal board....

Question : Will this computer play world of warcraft & hook up to my panasonic lcd tv.?
http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=ET1831-07
Answer:
Sure, but you'd have to put in a video card by yourself. That computer has integrated graphics, and integrated graphics are crap. Everything else seems fine though. Make sure that the video card you buy has HDMI. Sadly, emachines usually have pretty crappy power supplies, so u might need to replace that too depending on the video card youll get.

Question : Which is better Panasonic or LCD tv's?
Im looking for a 32" TV for my bedroom and a 50" TV for the living room and i heard that the bulbs in the LCD tv's go out in about 2 yrs and the warranty doesnt cover it soooo even though the Panasonic needs recharged every so often its actually better to buy it.
Answer:
LCD FLAT PANEL TVS do not use the replaceable lamps...PROJECTION LCD and DLPs do.Keep that in mind...Panasonic Plasmas are the most reliable, well built plasmas around, with a good company supporting it.With LCD Flat Panel TV sets, you can choose SONY (better electronics/engineering) or Samsung (another good choice, slightly less than Sony's)
