HDMI Ports Fail
Two out of 3 HDMI ports failed in the first week of ownership. I installed firmware update, and they worked for another week. Then, mysteriously, both failed again. Overall, this TV is not worth the hassle. I am going to return to the store ASAP and get a quality product. This is the worst consumer electronics product I have ever purchased.

Great TV & setup
When the tv came, the delivery man not only delivered it, he unpacked it and set it up for me. The tv is great! I especially like the fact that the commercials are not louder than the tv shows!

Really poor customer service and warranty
I have been waiting six weeks for a resolution from the warranty department at philips. They have never called me back once. Every time I call its another 2 to 5 business days to resolve the case. Finally received a resolution today and they offered to give me 1/2 of the orginal purchase price. Awful company. Bad Service. Poor customer relations.

THE REMOTE RECEIVER IS BAD
A 32 inch Philips LCD that is just a little over a year old (just out of warranty) can no longer receive signals from a remote. This means that you cannot control the volume, the channel or the on and off. Do not buy this brand. It just is not worth it.

Do not buy this from STANDARD-ELECTRONICS.COM!!
BEWARE! Do not buy this from STANDARD-ELECTRONICS dot COM!! As of now they are are listing it for a too-good-to-be-true price along with everything else on their site.
I have no proof yet because I didn't take the bait, and they have only been open since December 2009, but it looks like they have no consistent business address, they are associated with a site that asks for Western Union payments sent to London when you order, and any contact info found on them comes up as bogus or as a residential listing for sale.
They look too-good-to-be-true to me!

A LCD that Will not disappoint
I purchased this TV from Wal-Mart for the low price of $425. This TV looks and sounds awesome. I have it hooked into my PS3 with the HDMI and the games look crisp and beautiful my only complaint is in brighter scenes with lots of motion just on games you can see some fuzzy edges but with some adjustment this goes away.
The Good: Easy to use menus and set up. Great Picture quality for 720p (looks just as good as my friends Sony if not better) The sound is loud and well balanced. It looks nice and sleek Comes with a stand
The bad: The remote is ugly and the buttons are too small. (Buy a universal and this is fixed) Depending on the channel you have to adjust the screen colors sometimes. (No auto adjust)
Games: This TV looks great when I play My PS3 Modern Warfare 2 looks amazing as well as Fallout 3.
Wii also looks very nice up on the screen in wide screen mode.
Summary and last thought:
This TV is not the Top of the line by any means and should not be rated and compared as such. It's like comparing Apples to Cell Phones it can't be done. But as for what this TV is it is a great deal and for those of us on a budget it cannot be beat
9/10

A Few Useful Observations...
This is my first lcd TV as I was pulled kicking and screaming into the digital age...
I cannot compare it to anything else, therefore, so I picked a 3 star rating.
I like the picture, sound is okay. Menus are quite easy to use and intuitive.
Now the bad: I am amazed that the remote gives you like one second to put in maybe a two or more digit number. If you don't do it exactly right, and fast, the wrong number will appear and the wrong station is what you will get. This is not adjustable and is annoying.
The remote, in general, is not friendly. Buttons are too small to read. For that matter, the channels on the TV are also VERY small to read, much smaller than on my 19 inch analog.
One small criticism... why does the TV always start on with "Philips" blazing across it? I think I know the brand name by now. And, no, it is not in "demo" mode, no options to get rid of this.
It goes go away in a few seconds so no problem. But since I was listing the negatives...
Again, do like the picture, the price, and sound mostly is good.

Cheap, but solid.
This television is wonderful for those who do not wish to spend a large amount on a decent size television. Even though it was only $400, this Philips 32 inch is very solid. I love the picture quality and I consider it better than most Vizio's. Colors are great and its very crisp and sharp. The only downside to the TV is the audio. They could have done a way better job with that. Luckily, I use my home theater system so it's of no bother to me.
Rating :
One of the best 720p lcd in its price range.
I bought this on a whim and I love it. The HD content looks bright and clear and leaves me considering getting a PS3 :).

Not a good image for an HD TV
I have the same problem an earlier poster had, bad video coloring in HD. It's especially notable on faces. I have 2 other HD tv's, Vizio 720p and Sony 1080p, and get my video from DishNetwork in HD. Neither of these other tv's have this problem and they all share the same video feed (HDMI connection from DishNetwork ViP722).
I'm fairly versed in TV tech so I went thru the video settings and tried to tweak them to get rid of the 'cartoonish' look, but I couldn't find an acceptable setting. I reset everything to the default settings and it was still there.
I did a lot of research before finally buying this set at Walmart for $400 (price match against a sale unit at Target) and almost all reviewers praised its picture quality. I was very surprised and disappointed to find the image quality so poor. I will return it to Walmart and pick up a Vizio instead.

An excellent 32-inch HDTV...
As a satisfied 12-month-owner of a Philips 42-inch HDTV (the Philips 42PFL7403D/F7 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV), I purchased the Philips 32PFL6704D/F7 to replace an old tube TV in the bedroom. I'm very pleased with the styling, picture and sound of this set - it fits the room just right.
I had noticed a few customer reviews of this model complaining about difficulty in getting proper color settings for flesh-tones, but based upon a greater number of exemplary reviews and my own experience with this Philips product line, I bought it unseen via Amazon. Sure enough, when the TV was setup, I wasn't pleased with the tint of people's faces... I tweaked the color settings for a bit, and figured I could get it right eventually before deciding to call Philips.
Before calling, I went online to Philips' support site and found that a firmware update, v1.08, had just been released about two weeks earlier. The TV came from Amazon with v1.06 loaded, so I updated the firmware and found the default picture color much improved (although the release notes didn't refer to any such issue being fixed). Could be I was imagining the color issues, could be some screwed-up factory settings were nicely reset by the firmware upgrade process, but as of now I'm quite happy with this product.

Excellent
I use this with my Xbox 360 elite via HDMI 1080p, Netflix streaming looks very good and the in game text is extremely sharp, 120Hz is also nice.
I also recently the "Philips HTS3565D/37 1000 Watt DVD 1080P HDMI Upconversion Dolby Home Theater with iPod Dock" at Walmart and the DVD sound and video quality is superb.
I also plan to hook up my macbook at 1080p.
The Wii is ok... not much better or worse than my standard def tv.
I have owned this tv for about a month and am very happy with it.

It's a good tv, it's not a great tv
I purchased this set at costco for $[...] because the spec sheet looked just amazing. Its got full hd resolution as well as 120hz, and the set is by far the best looking flat screen tv. There's minimal plastic around the screen, it's thin, and overall it's just a looker. So very much better looking than the Panasonic and Samsungs of the same size.
Looks aside, the tv picture is simply not as good as other 32 inch tv's (and [...] agrees, they've reviewed the same model at 40in I believe). For one thing, there's significant patches of flashlighting all over the screen, most of which is on the upper left side. I suppose this could have been just my unit, but it was so annoying that it had to be returned. Flashlighting is basically patches of light when you're viewing a black screen. Of course, this might not bother you if you just watch regular tv, but if you're buying the set to watch movies or play video games, you're going to see light patches when the scene is dark. This drove me absolutely nuts.
Aside from the flashlighting issue, I have to agree with what other reviewers wrote. It looks like there is too much light on people's faces. I couldn't get rid of this even after going through the set up and choosing darker resolutions etc. It looks like faces are glossy whiteish, which also drove me nuts.
It's really not all bad though. First off, the tv has full HD, and the colors, other than black, are absolutely vivid and beautifully rendered. Also, at that price point, where else are you going to get a 1080p 120hz 32 inch with 2ms response time? I mean dollar for dollar, this set is quite good. So, if you're not a gamer, and can live with some of its flaws, the price is excellent and the set will fit your needs. But if you're planning on hooking up the Ps3 to play games and watch movies, etc. I think you'll be disappointed. I was. Hope this helps!

Best 32" 1080p HDTV
I don't normally write reviews for any of the products I purchase but felt the need to say something about this TV which thus far has been one of my most satisfying $500+ purchases. For starters, there are not too many 1080p 32" TVs out there. Most are 720p and yet cost just as much as this Philips, if not more. I am simply amazed with the quality of the picture and even the sound from the rear facing speakers. My PS3 games look fantastic on this 120Hz screen. There are 4 HDMI inputs which is plenty for many. All settings are a breeze to adjust. Cant go wrong with this TV and thus far, Philips has not disappointed me as my DVD player and several other components are from them also. No need to pay the premium for Sony or Samsung.

Happy with this TV
I bought this TV because it was the biggest that would fit in my Dad's entertainment center. I had already bought a Samsung that only worked for an hour. My only complaint is that this TV has such a realistic picture that you have to get used to how much different it looks, it is almost as if you were there filming. My dad only has standard definition cable, but I could tell a huge difference in quality of picture, and have not had any of the complaints of other people buying this TV. As far as I have seen this TV has had the best picture of any I have used, being enclosed in the TV cabinet the volume is usually needed to be higher than normal to hear as the speakers are behind the TV, but no problems. My dad loves this new TV and I wish my phillips 32" (720p) would have fit in his cabinet, so that I could have keep it for myself, oh well, sadly I paid the same thing for my 720p Phillips two years ago, As I turned them on side by side, and the 120 hz 1080p blew it away even with standard cable. Wow, 120hz is AWESOME!!! I shopped around, and amazon had the lowest price, and shipping was as expected. Thanks Amazon, you did me good on this one!

Nice value
Excellent picture quality, decent sound for its size. Auto channel programming seems a little wonky, but that may be my local cable provider's fault. Very good television for a small area, viewed from around 6 to 8 feet away.

Philips 22" HDTV 22PFL3504D/F7
Excellent 22" HDTV. Nice for kitchen, bedroom, office or small rec-room. GREAT picture!!!
Includes 2 HDMI ports (1 back and 1 side), Component connections, S-Video and etc.
When you program the channels on setup it picks up both analog and digital channels.
You don't need a set-top cable box to get a great picture just hook the cable from the wall to the TV rf in.
Hooked to an antenna the digital channels look fantastic.
The sound is what you expect from a small TV...good but not great.
The remote color including the buttons is very dark and hard to read in dim lighting but works great.
Great little TV!!!

It's okay but seems to have HDMI handshake problems
I bought this back in August on impulse at a store when the old CRT TV in my kitchen quit working one day. I've seen better picture quality, but it's certainly not bad for a TV this size and price. As for sound, I think for it's pretty decent for a smallish TV. Better than expected actually. I also like the ability to upgrade the firmware using a USB flash drive. Very handy, and I wish all non-internet enabled TVs were like this. My slightly older Toshiba requires a memory card to upgrade the firmware. No big deal but the USB option is quicker and easier in my opinion.
My problem with this TV is that it doesn't always perform the HDMI handshake correctly with my DirecTV HD receiver (HR2x-700) and the result when this happens is a screen with a pink/purple hue and no sound. This wouldn't be an issue if you plan to only use the TV's built-in digital tuner or use component connections instead of HDMI, but I don't.
I'm no stranger to electronic gadgets and technology, so I can assure you that this isn't a case of user error. I have two DirecTV HD receivers (HR20-700 & HR23-700) and while my other larger LCD TV (a Toshiba) has *zero* HDMI handshake problems, this one does. I tried all the different HDMI inputs and it's not an HDMI cable problem either, as I have tried several including the one I use for the Toshiba. While it is possible that part of the issue lies in the DirecTV receiver, the bottom line is that this problem does NOT occur with the Toshiba using the same cable and DirecTV receivers so there is clearly something different about this Philips model and how it handles HDMI.
Will you have HDMI handshake problems with this TV? You might, you might not, but at a minimum I would not recommend this TV if you plan to use it with a DirecTV HD receiver via HDMI. I don't have a need for anything else connected via HDMI to this TV, so I can't tell you if this happens with other HDMI hardware (such as a Blu-Ray player). This problem primarily pops up if the TV is turned on when the DirecTV receiver is already on, such as if I am watching DirecTV in the bedroom on a CRT and my wife turn this LCD on in the kitchen. (This receiver resides in the bedroom but is shared between the bedroom and kitchen). Recent changes to DirecTV firmware has in some ways helped the problem and in other ways made it worse. You may say that the problem is with the DirecTV receiver then, but I will remind you that my Toshiba *never* has this problem. Draw your own conclusions from that. There are other DirecTV users with similar HDMI problems on certain specific TVs and I am not alone with this problem on a Philips LCD TV. At least DirecTV listens to their customers and attempts to correct problems that only some people report (there is an online forum that allows for indirect contact with DirecTV developers and allows customers the option of testing beta versions of their firmware). I tried contacting Philips about this problem and while they initially responded pretty quickly, they never followed up with it after they asked for more details and I provided them. I even tried a more recent firmware update from Philips but it made no difference.
I'm currently shopping for another 22" LCD TV for the kitchen, about the biggest we have room for, and hopefully one that will work better with an HDMI connection. At that time I will move this TV to the master bedroom (where the DirecTV receiver is) and connect it using component cables. I will still have a comparable HD picture but this will stop the HDMI problem. If it weren't for having the HDMI cable running inside walls to get from the bedroom to the kitchen I'd just hook it up that way now but I shouldn't have to do that anyway in my opinion.
I usually save the box for months for things like this, but for some strange reason I decided to throw it out after only two days before we noticed this problem around a week later. If I hadn't thrown out the box, I would have exchanged it for a different brand. I guess I could have tried to exchange it for another of the same model but I'm not sure that would have helped as I think it's just a quirk in the TV's hardware and/or firmware.
This review isn't so much to put Philips down, but just to warn others of some potential issues that may arise. If you decide to purchase this TV for exclusive use with an HDMI connection, I hope it works well for you.

After Firmware Upgrade - A Fine Small LCD TV for the Price
After my previous 13 inch Sharp LCD TV died recently, I was in the market for a new small LCD TV for the kitchen. After shopping around I purchased the Philips 19PFL3504D/F7 19 inch LCD HDTV from a B&M Target store; this is the same TV available here either from Amazon itself or sold through Amazon by target.com/ITC. IMHO this set competes with other 19 inch sets such as the Toshiba 19AV600U 19-Inch 720p Portable LCD HDTV, Black and Samsung LN19B360 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black, which cost $45 to $80 more than the price I paid for the Philips. (Due to reliability / customer service concerns I did not consider any of the numerous no-name or store brand TVs available.)
First things first, at present the Philips requires a firmware upgrade (available at the Philips website) to eliminate an annoying high-pitched hum that occurs when the TV is powered off. If you have a computer and a USB flash drive this is an easy fix. Hopefully this will not be required on future shipment of the TV.
Setup of the Philips was very straightforward, and includes a guided setup which displays several test images and has the user select their brightness / sharpness / color preferences. This appears to be a faster way to get a decent picture than having to manually guess what backlight / sharpness / brightness / color / tint settings are needed. Of course these manual adjustments are available if needed. After 20 minutes to initially scan analog / digital channels, the TV was ready to go. The QAM tuner was able to pick up all of the digital cable channels (SD and HD) present; due to the distance from broadcast towers I could not check OTA performance. Unwanted channels can be "skipped" via the Setup menu.
The HD picture was excellent, with a bright picture, saturated colors, and good contrast. The SD picture was obviously a step down, but analog and digital SD channels were reasonably good. There are several options to present SD content stretched to fill the screen, but I preferred to stay in Normal mode and leave black bars on the side for SD content. The sound of the unit is fine, even though I was surprised to see that the speakers are located on the bottom of the TV (the pictures on Amazon make it look like these are front facing speakers). I had no issue getting adequate volume out of the speakers, and the sound quality is good considering the small size of this TV.
The Philips tilts forward a bit and tilts backwards a bit more, which is useful if viewing the TV from above or slightly below. The horizontal viewing angles are very good, no real degradation of the image when standing to the left or right of the TV. Viewing from above is OK up to about 45 degrees. Viewing from way below can become a problem, so if mounting this TV high up (say on a wall mount) make sure you can tilt it down towards the viewer. (Note: most TVs I looked at locally exhibit the same issue when viewing from below - some at a much smaller angle than the Philips.)
The Philips includes 2 HDMI inputs, component input, S-video / composite input, and VGA input. There is both a digital audio jack (coax) and headphone jack. Other standard features include sleep timer, parental controls, and sound equalizer. The two features I wish this TV had was a channel label feature (particularly useful to label the myriad digital channels this TV now picks up) and some type of Favorites feature to quickly tune to certain channels; the Toshiba mentioned above has these features at a higher price. I also have some concern over the long term reliability of this TV, as older 19 inch Philips models have some reliability complaints on here. I'll update this review if needed (hopefully not).
In summary, after using this set for a while I would say that this is a fine TV for the price, particularly if you are able to get the unit on sale. It is missing a few features from higher priced Toshiba and Samsung offerings, but has fine picture and sound at a price competitive with the no-name brands.

Good news Phillips TV
I was looking fo a small, quality TV for my workshop. I also wanted one that would double as a computer monitor. This TV does both just fine. In my area, rabbit ears do not do very well, so I am using an outside antenna and I get a very good picture. The built in speakers are just that, speakers.

This is a great TV for the price. The picture quality is well above average and the sound quality is as well. For a TV less than $200, this is a great deal.

Great TV, but i'll never buy another Philips product.
I'll keep this short and sweet.
This TV is really great. It's worth every penny. If it works.
After having mine for about 8 months, I started having issues very suddenly. There was no power surge, no thunder storm, no dropping it or kicking it or anything of the sort. It just started not turning on. I called tech support and they told me how to fix it: hold down the power button for 15 seconds. Worked great...the first time. After that, I spent 20 minutes figuring out that I had to unplug the power cord for at least 20 seconds and then plug it back in before it would turn on again. I called Philips tech support again, and they told me they would send me a "new or refurbished" replacement. 8 days later, I received it, and opened it to find a horribly beat up, scratched and wobbly replacement. I immediately called Philips again and told them that it was absurd for them to send me a beat up replacement for my nearly-mint-condition TV (aside from THEIR manufacturing error with the power supply). I was told I would have to just live with it because Philips considered "cosmetic issues" unworthy of consideration, begging environmental conservation as their excuse. Why they can't just sell these crappy refurbished models to knowing consumers is beyond me.
Long story short, after 8 months of treating my property with care and consideration, Philips gave me the shaft and despite the issue being their own fault as a manufacturer, repaid my patronage with a shrug of apathy.

Questions & Answers
Question : I have a Philips 42" LCD TV Sound but no picture?
I am getting sound but no picture. I have checked and changed the scart cable but the problem is still the same. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks v much.
Answer:
Well...it could be a couple different things! You'll need to do this in the dark or low light conditions! Make sure TV is off.Turn on the TV. If the TV "glows" when you turn it on, the problem is the TCON board. There is also a slight chance that it's the main input board...but this is less likely! If the TV does not "glow" when you turn it on, the problem is the back light inverter boards!

Question : connecting philips lcd tv 37pf5321, philips dvd player dvp5100 and a 5.1 Videologic surround system?
1-I would like to connect the surround 5.1 system to my dvd player and tv so that the sound from tv, whether watching normal digital freeview or dvd/cd playbacks, comes out of the surround speakers system. Subwoofer has a digital coaxial which I can connect to the dvd's digital coaxial. I can also connect the dvd's YPbPr to the tv's YPbPr for progressive scan. To hear the sound of dvd player through the tv, I can connect audio out (red and white jacks) to the tv's audio in (red and white jacks). By doing this, there seem to be one more connection, that is from the subwoofer's analog red and white jacks. Cannot connect these to my dvd player as there are no more audio jacks available.2- Tv's sound system is, virtual dolby surround, stereo. The surround's centre unit/speaker is also the control unit which has various modes: DTS, dolby digital, pro logic, stereo, theater and hall. Assuming I can connect the system,WITH YOUR HELP,will this mute the volume on my tv or just turn it down
Answer:
If you can give a model number for the videologic surround sound system it would be good. You DO NOT want to connect the subwoofer to the DVD player. The Subwoofer is supposed to be connected to the Surround sound system, it will only send low frequency (bass) sound to the subwoofer, a coaxial port is a digital port that can feasabily send any sound, not necessarily just subwoofer sounds. You also DO NOT want to hook any sound into your TV if possible! Your TV's sound is not nearly as good as the surround sound system. There are multiple ways that you can hook up the system and it all depends on what type of inputs you have on your surround sound system as to how you would do it.BEST SOLUTION:You have good enough inputs (and enough of them) to hook everything into your reciever for your surround sound system. You would hook your component (Y-Pb-Pr) out from the DVD Player into the Reciever, along with either a coaxial or optical cable for the sound. Then you would hook in your cable box (or just the coaxial from the wall) into your surround sound system. Then you would use the video out from the surround sound system and send that to the TV. If you have a Plasma/LCD/LCD Projection or other HD TV, then you are going to want at LEAST a component out, if not DVI or HDMI out from your reciever. So in conclusion...if you have a component in and at least a component out of your reciever, than this would be a good method, otherwise, move on to the next one.GOOD SOLUTION:Hook everything into the TV, the coaxial from the wall (for your cable), the DVD player's component out and an optical out from the DVD Player, then ASSUMING your TV has a good audio out (coaxial or optical) then send the audio from the TV to the reciever.OK SOLUTION:If your TV doesn't have a decent audio out (coaxial or optical) and your reciever doesn't have a decent video out (component, DVI or HDMI) then you will have to split up your outputs. Send the Component out from the DVD (Y-Pb-Pr) to the TV, and an audio out to the reciever (the best that the reciever will recieve). then you're going to need some way of splitting up the video and audio for your cable. Either use a cable box, or plug the coaxial into your tv and use your TV's audio out's to your reciever. If you're not using a cable box, you're not going to be getting that great of sound anyways.ADDITIONAL INFO:As far as audio goes, here is the hirearchy of best connection to worst connection:1. Optical (converts audio to light pulses and therefore has no signal degradation or interference)2. Coaxial (Converts an analog voltage signal to a digital voltage signal)3. RCA (your standard red and white cables, just passes an analog signal)Clarification on Coaxial:Coaxial cables refer to two types of cables in your entertainment center. As far as audio is concerned they are a digital type signal for sound. But the cable that comes out of your wall for Cable TV is also called a coaxial cable, sorry for any confustion that might have caused.A note on HD cables:1. HDMI is a single cable that transmits digital audio and video over one single wire, it looks like an oversized USB cable.2. DVI is the predecessor of HDMI, it sends a digital video signal, it's being replaced by HDMI.Model #'s:I tried searching on philips' website and I cant find either of your model numbers, please verify that they are correct!

Answer:
For the TV, Samsung all the way. Samsung's quality has come a long way, and they have been taking a lot of the consumer LCD market over the last couple of years. For home theater, how much do you want to spend? If your heart is set on one of those 2 systems, I would go with the Samsung. But for about $200, you can get this Yamaha DVXC300, and I would get this instead. http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Yamaha-DVXC300-Home-Theater-System-Black/2679662/product.html

Question : Brand New LCD Philips Tv - No Sound Or Picture Anymore!!!! :(?
I have recently bought a brand new philips 32" LCD tv. It has been working fine the last few days and have had it for about a week now, I have been using it with a DVD player and still awaiting an arial so that i can start using the freeview, however the last day or so I have been turning it on I have been having some problems. When I turn on the tv you can see that the screen has switched on but there is no picture, even when trying to adjust the menu settings nothing happens, there used to be sound that you could hear whilst the DVD was playing but now even that is not working anymore.Do you have any idea in how to fix this problem? Thanks.
