The Philips 42PFL570D 42 inch 1080p LCD HDTV combines a full HD display, Pixel Plus 3 HD engine and incredible surround sound from invisible speakers. The HD Natural Motion feature estimates motion in the picture and corrects the juddering movements in both broadcast and recorded movie material such as DVD and Blu-ray disc. This TV is easy to connect and enjoy with four HDMI inputs with Easylink for a full HD connection. This flat TV ensures brilliant design and powerful performance for years to come.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!!
The picture is beautiful. Bright, vibrant, crisp, good at viewing from a angle and everything I had hoped for in LCD HD. The TV also has a black that really seperate the colors to leap off the scree. The inputs are adequate and the remote design is good but would prefer back-lighting. My first review with Amazon and I could not have picked a better product to have written about.

More updates(3 months later)...Excellent picture w/ so-so sound(1 wk after delivery)...
3 months later: Did not regret a bit on my purchase. Excellent HD LCD TV! More I use it, the more I love it. ************************************************************************************************************************** 1 week after delivery: Watch the Olympic opening ceremony on a Phillip 47" wall-mounted LCD @ a local restaurant and was amazed by the sharp and beautiful picture of it. When a 1-day special of $699 from amazon.com listed on "[...]" comes up, jumped @ the opportunity to get one myself. Also, purchased an extended 2-yr warranty w/ it for $99 just in case. So far, no problem, and very happy w/ it. Ordered it on a Thurs, got it delivered the following Friday (from Dallas, TX to S.F., CA). Very easy to setup. Took me less than 10 mins. Pictures is as beautiful & sharp as ever. No disappointment or surprises there. Sound-wise, a little disappointing at first. Based on some of the older dvd movie soundtrack, at times I've to turn the volume way up to get decent sound. But when I go out and bought a brand new "Madonna Italy concert" dvd, the sound was excellent. So, I guessed, it all depends on the soundtrack that comes w/ the dvd. TV reception is good and clear. I used an external antenna. No cable, at least not yet. Remote work well. All controls easy to follow. Haven't read the user guide yet. 4 HDMI ports are plenty. So far, using 1 hdmi port for my vcd+dvd recorder/player combo deck, and AV port for my karoake deck. USB port works well w/ my digital video camera. Still got plenty ports left for other hookups. With average sound, plan on getting a Bose 5.1 surround sound home theater system in the near future to go w/ it. With Bose sound and Phillip excellent picture, that should complete my new home entertainment center. Wrap up: 1. Great price. 2. Easy setup. 3. Excellent picture. 4. Easy to use. 5. So-so sound...but w/ getting a Bose theater surrond sound system in the near future, it should be fantastic. I'm very happy and it's a great buy.

No sounds, New to Refurbished TV
Although the price was reasonable, this is an awful LCD TV and Phillips approved Technician confirmed and stated that themselves. Upon arrival, the sounds didn't work properly. When you power on the unit, you get no sounds until you raised the level to 52-55 and would explode out and you have to lower it quickly. That was the only way to get the sounds to work. Contacted Phillips immediately (within 2 weeks), after 3 service trips by their local technician (Tops Electronics) horrible service by the way, Phillips decided to replace my BRAND NEW LCD TV with a Refurbished TV. I have argued with them and they refused to replace it with a new unit. That's bad customer service on their part. I can't see myself or friends and family purchasing a Phillips product again.
The Tops Electronic Technician said this is a very common issue with this TV model. Please avoid this LCD, and don't be fooled by the price point.

Amazing picture, but needs some setup to have it
Amazing picture, but only if you setup certain things: turn off "Active control" turn off "Dynamic contrast" and you will have a perfect picture.

A great TV at a great price, with wifi capapable of streaming movies
The 5705 is the best of my 5505 model, with now wifi for streaming movies. I purchased the 5505 model of this phillips tv (without the wifi) about 1 month ago, and so far love it. For comparision, I own a Panasonic Viera th-50pz80U (480hz 1080p)that I bought 2 years ago, and my brother owns the newer g10 50 inch 600hz panasonic, and this phillips is as nice as those two Plasma TVs. Upsides of this tv, LCD, more durable as far as moving around. Plasma tvs are still glass and need to be kept upright, never to be placed on their face. this can be moved more. It is brighter than the plasma TV at baseline. Colors pop without haveing to put the TV into a brighter mode as I have done before on my plasma. there is no burn in or streeking as with the plasmas if not taken care of. I have not had a problem with the panasonics, but on rare occasion on pause I will see a little burn in that will fade on my plasma. I think that the speed of the TV, 240hz, has made it comparable to my plasma for everyday movies. This has a digital motion program built in the set which can be turned off and on. For regular movies and TV, I turn it off. On animated movies, wow, i think this TV beats my plasma. The draw back with the digital motion is that it looks really choppy in movies with a lot of action, like car chases . It does funny things with the people on the screen as well. If it is focused on a character, it almost feels as if they were standing there in the room. It looses the warmth and depth in background, and again seems choppy when the focus person or object moves, and looks really processed (like a computer straining to keep up with rate) if the background moves. Regular movies and sports, I love my Plasma TV. This Philips 5505 model does not have Wifi built in for net flix, but the 5705 model does. This one runs a bit cheaper, and as a second nice tv for the bedroom, this works well and is a great value for the speed and size. Only a few of the upper models from sony and LG have 240 hz LCD/LED tvs, and those models will cost you quite a bit more for a comparable TV. The Cheapest i saw the Sony was around $1100 for a 40 inch. For LCD tvs, this one is great, and the digital motion can be turned off which is a nice feature. As a final note, my friend sprung for a samsung 46 inch 120hz model, and spent considerably more, and this toast it all around. again with the samsung as with most LED tvs, they over process the image and it looks choppy and unnatural. That is why i like the fact I can turn on and off the Digital motion feature. Check this TV out, great value and performance.
UPDATE: Other questions that have come up
The picture on the net are tough to see what the tv looks like
The Bezel is a glossy bezel, reflective
The screen is essentially flat. I note a small reflection when the tv is off, but there is no reflection when the tv is on, and i can tell you my plasma tv that is one draw back, the reflection on bright days. in looking at the other lcd/led tvs on the market, this is the same as most of them these days. My friends Samsung 46" 650 model has an actual plastic protective cover over the LCD screen which does reflect, that was a shock. the non reflective front is one of the advantages of any LCD/LED tv
Mesurments 26 1/2 tall, 9 3/4 at base, tv 3 3/4 thick, 39 across horizonal, corner to corner at 40" screen, almost 43 corner of bezel to corner of bezel.
Finally, LCD/LED tvs run much cooler than plasma tvs, so this tv is much cooler and nicer in my room than my plasma would be.
One final note. Depending upon if you want Net capability for streeming videos from the internet eg, netflixs, or blockbuster streeming vidio, the 5705 model online here at amazon is only a few dollars more. I got my tv at a warehouse retailer for less than the current price today on sale, so this model was a no brainer, and I don't really care about the net capability because various blu-ray players have that capability as well. so if you want a stand alone tv and you plan to get a blu ray player, net capapble doesn't matter. if you have limited space and watch all your movies offline, then the 5705 model would be worth the investment. hope this helps

Questions & Answers
Question : 42" philips LCD tv doesnt turn on?
ok so I just picked up this 42" Philips LCD TV (42PFL5332D/37). It does not turn on. I was thinking its the power supply because it doesnt turn on without the buttons on side of tv or the remote. Ive tested the cord and up to the connectors to the power supply and its a consistent 120v. My question is how do I test the power supply on it? it has like 4 or 5 plugs off of it to various components of TV. Anybody that knows how or knows where I can get a manual of the power supply please let me know
Answer:
Check the fuse in the power supply board. You can check the manual here http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/philips/philips_flat_panel_television_product_list_53.html

Question : I have a Philips lcd tv when I plug it up I get a yellow light and no picture?
this is a 19" lcd. I plugged it up and got a yellow light instead of a green light.I can not get any kind of picture or sound. It's like it's in sleep mode or something. Can anyone help?
Answer:
Can't help other than to say that I bought a Philips HD CRT a few years ago and it had problems after only a few months. Customer service, in Jamaica (!) had four or five people work on the thing over a six month period and never fixed the problem. I looked into Philips and found that mine was not a unique experience... if you can return it and get a Samsung or Sony; I would do that. If not then good luck... maybe google the model number and see if other people have had the same problem.

Question : philips lcd tv has no colour but when its a blank screen the colour is fine (blue)?
how long does philips warrenty last
Answer:
As to the warranty terms, it is written in the manual. Is the color gone from all program sources? Are you using an antenna, cable, HD cable, satellite receiver..??The simplest explanation would be that you are using a component input, and only the green cable is connected.

Question : How do I connect my Toshiba Satellite SP10-304 to my Philips LCD tv (42")?
How do I connect my Toshiba Satellite SP10-304 to my Philips LCD tv (42")?
Answer:
There are a few options here, depending on what connections are on your TV and what connections are on your PC.The best option would be HDMI, which carries both audio and video. If no HDMI, you can use VGA, however this carries only video. You will need a separate audio cable for sound (1/8", or 3.5mm).As well, you can use S-Video, but again, you would need a separate cable for audio (1/8", or 3.5mm).

Question : TV Technician needed to answer this question Red light blinking Philips LCD TV?
I just got a brand new Philips 47" Inch Flat screen LCD TV, Model number 47PFL3603D/27. The tV shuts off randomly, and it is getting worse. 10 times watching a movie, and you have to unplug it for 10 minutes until it starts up again. The Red light comes on, solid once, then blinks twice, pause, solid red light, then blinks twice, pause, solid red light then blinks twice and so on.In addition to the above issue, sometimes the TV will act like its going to turn off. It will flicker (about 5 clicking noises and screen going in and out). Please let me know what exactly has to be replace and whats wrong with it. Could it be the Capacitors (particularly C8059 and C8060? or is it the fuse or something else ? Also, if I keep trying to use it like this what will happen eventually to the tv? will it completely not power on after time or severely damage the tv?Ps Taking it back is not an option. and I have looked on Philips support website and it says nothing on this topic. Thanks Hope you can help meThanks for your Reply Shylo. The Tv is brand new, I bought it a few days ago. The date on the back of the tv, It was made October of 2008. So it definitely shouldn't be doing this at such an early time. I'm thinking it might be a bigger problem.
