I Love you Samsung!

I received my TV March 2cd, 2010! I hooked this Tv up to my Comcast HD cable and the picture is amazing! Words cannot discribe how much I am enjoying this TV! My husband was the one who told me to buy it and I am so happy that he did! I have always been a fan of Samsung. I bought a 40inch Samsun LCD from Amazon last year as a mother's day gift to myself and have been enjoying that TV also, but this Tv shows a much better picture than my Samsung 40inch LCD and I didn't think that Samsung could do much better! I was wrong people!

This Tv is so amazing that I have it hooked up to a regular Sony 5 disk DVD player and I am telling you all that my old dvd movies on an old DVD player looks like an HD movie! Unbelevable! How is that possible? This TV is one of the great loves of my life! I have this baby hooked up to a sony surround sound system and everyone that comes over says that they feel like they are at the show! I know what they mean! My husband and I have been watching a new movie on this bad boy everyday since we got it!

The remote is great! I LOVE IT! The remote has a lot of command buttons on it. The color is beautiful. I love the night light on the remote. The remote fits well in your hands.

Another reason why I bought this Tv is because I wanted a touch of color (red)! I have red drapes in my living room where this Tv is resting at and it looks amazing! At first when I first saw the touch of color a year ago in red I thought what a crazy idea for a TV cabinet! Boy was I wrong! This touch of color makes the TV stand out and looks that much more expensive!

I haven't hooked any game units to this tv yet so I cannot speak on it or a BluRay but when I do I will give you all an update about the picture quality. If you are looking to purchase a TV than look nowhere else! This Tv is the one for you! It has a lot of HDMI outlets for all of you entertainment needs. It has a USB outlet and many more outlets. This TV is a one stop shop! Buy it now!

Awesome TV

Great tv! The picture is really nice and clear and we haven't had any problems. I was a little skeptical of the "touch of red" feature, but you can barely see it, especially when the tv is on.

Wow!

This TV has eye popping clarity. We have Verizon FIOS and HD set top box and the picture is vivid, the colors, including black, make you feel like you are in the picture, instead of just watching it. The picture from the BluRay player is even better. If you are thinking of buying an LCD set, this is the one. Don't hold back, get the 52".

My wife believed this new set was just a waste of money, but now recognizes what a great value it is and searches for HD programming to take advantage of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Even the old black and white shows are more vivid on this set.

Great picture hard to dial in...

I received this TV the Monday after the Super Bowl. Go figure. Pretty easy to hook up but was really surprised how bad the picture looked. Went to samsung website and figured out the Dish Network box was in 480 and the TV beibng 1080 was casuing some problems. Very blurred pictures. Had to have a 1 hour conversation with dish to try and get an HDTV box at no charge. That's not a good experience and I've been with them for many years and pay annually. Once the HDTV receiver was in place we could see a huge differnce. Colors are great. Blu Ray is unbelievable. My only complaints are two fold. One, the sound is only adequate. I'll have to have a surround sound system of some type to enjoy it fully. The second is that you can't dial this tv in for all channels. Some are better than others no matter what settings you use. May just be life in the DISH world. Go aheaad and get the HDTV or you'll be disappointed.
good luck.

Customer Review :

Great picture, bad buzz

First off, the picture on this television is tremendous. I can't say enough about the clarity, warm colors and contrast. However, the "buzz" emanating from the tv is unbearable to me. It's not really so much a "buzz" as described elsewhere (at least on my set), but a high-pitched "whine," sort of like your ears ringing. It's audible 10-15 feet from the tv and is extremely distracting and annoying. I see that some who purchased this tv don't seem to have this problem, so I don't know if it doesn't affect all units or if certain consumers are just more sensitive to the noise. I will say that my wife didn't notice it as much as I did, but she didn't watch the tv nearly as much as I did either. I called Samsung and arranged for a service call to see if it could be fixed. Before service technician came to service the tv, I described the problem to him on the phone and he indicated that this is a problem with certain Samsung plasmas and no "fix" is available at this point. So, despite the wonderful picture, I had to return this tv. Amazon was terrific to deal with in this regard, giving me a full refund and paying for return shipping.

Amazing plasma with a few tweaks.

Straight out of the box the colors are bit over-saturated and the sound is muffled and thin but both are easily fixed with a few tweaks.

For the sound leave the SRS off (it expands the sound but makes it boomy) and boost the 100hz around +4, 3khz +2, and 10k to +3 on the EQ and it sounds much better. None of the flat panel TVs have great sound or deep bass but it's good enough for everyday watching. When it's movie time just hook up a decent surround system. If you are buying a $2000 TV you probably already have one.

Turning the color down to about 35-38 makes things look much more natural and not overblown. I also turned the edge sharpening off. Looks amazing now. Best Buy and Amazon sell an HD calibration blu-ray disc for around $25 that can help you if you really want to fine tune things.

Speaking of Blu-ray, if you don't already have one I strongly suggest getting one to go with this TV. You aren't truly using a 1080p TV to it's fullest potential if you don't. I promise you won't regret it. Blu-ray discs on this TV are simply AMAZING. Samsung players integrate with this model without any setup. I am using a PS3 for blu-ray and it works fine. I just can't use the TV remote to control it.

I love that the TV has an optical audio out because I have an older receiver that only has one optical input. Now I get a completely digital audio path no matter what I am watching by just using the out from the TV.

You will be hard pressed to find a better 58 inch plasma at this price.

Love it!

I did a lot of research on the web reading reviews and evaluating features on LCD, LED and plasma sets. Some of my friends have Panasonic plasmas so I was already aware of the brilliant colors and deeper blacks. After reading many reviews on this set, I decided it was the one to order based on price, features and performance. The only thing I was worried about was this "buzzing" issue. Anyway, I took the chance and boy, am I glad I did! I am a 60 year old woman with little technical expertise (although I'm learning), so had it professionally installed with an Evo wall system to hide all the cables (love this system also!). The television itself has a sleek, elegant design and, as everyone seems to agree, a fabulous picture! I lost the remote before the set was installed (I've ordered another) so am unable to adjust the picture yet, but the picture is amazing just using the "plug and play". I've been using the set for about two weeks--many hours every day and guess what?? NO BUZZING!!! AND NO BURN IN!! I do have the sound going through a Bose Lifestyle 20 system, but when I mute or turn the sound all the way down, I still cannot hear any buzz. I also have an LG wireless Blu Ray player hooked up and the picture is superb. What else? I adore the manual on/off illuminated large "button" on the bottom of the set--too cool!!! Makes it look kind of "space age"--ok, silly I know, but I still love it!

Check it when you receive it!

Other reviewers have provided loads of information on the picture quality already, so I will skip that part. (It is amazing...)

When I received the TV the outside temperature was below 50 F. The delivery man showed me a form that explained that the TV needs to warm up for two hours before powering it on when it is delivered on a cold day below 50 F.

He was getting ready to leave but I insisted that I wanted to open the box even though the box was in pristine condition. I am glad I did because there was a HUGE crack running through the screen.

I refused shipment, of course. On Monday I called Amazon and they promptly got a new TV on the way to me. The very nice Amazon rep mentioned that he was glad that I called because otherwise it would have taken them a number of days to realize that they needed to ship out a new TV.

So if you have a problem: call. Being proactive got me this amazing TV at least one week sooner that I otherwise would have.

Awesome TV

I've had this TV for about 36 hours (received it yesterday afternoon), and have watched it for about 12 hours yesterday (3 DVD movies and HDTV content) and about 14 hours today so far (college football, 1 DVD movie, 1 Blu-ray movie, and HDTV). The picture is amazing! The colors are deep and rich and the blacks are very black. This set replaced a Sony 60" LCD rear-projection (moved to bedroom). HD content from cable looks very good (better than on the old set), DVDs (upscaled on my Blu-ray player) look extremely good (almost Blu-ray quality) and Blu-ray is crystal clear.

The set has been on solid since 11AM this morning (it's 1AM now) and the top of the set is still cool to the touch and there is absolutely no buzzing sound at all. I've turned the volume way down and tried to listen for any buzzing (with help from my two teenagers) and there is none. The speakers are not bad at all; actually pretty good. I have a surround sound system for watching movies on DVD, but for watching regular TV content, the built-in speakers are plenty good enough.

I researched plasma vs LCD and I'm glad I went with a plasma this time around. With the built-in anti-burn-in technology on the new plasmas, I have not seen any evidence of any image retention at all, and the TNT HD logo has been in the right lower corner of the screen during most of the movie, although there are commercials in between of course. Image quality from any angle is excellent and the TV looks beautiful.

So far, I can't say enough good things about this TV. Don't hesitate to purchase it; it's an excellent value for the money.

Attractive panel

Just bought the LN40C550 and am very pleased. I picked up the LN40B530 a month ago on sale for $664 and was less impressed - the panel wasn't as attractive as I expected (my PN50B650 looks great dowstairs) and the base was really crappy. When the 40C550 came out on sale for $688 I had to swap (and I only paid $34 shipping to swap). Very happy with Amazon's customer service and the new TV blows the old one away. Remote/menu is superior, picture is comparable to my eye but the physicial TV is really sweet looking - even down to the button-less TV controls (vs. buttons on the B530 panel). Overall very happy, but the picture still doesn't compare to my plasma downstairs.

Great TV at a Great Price

This Samsung TV is excellent. The only drawback would be that it is not 120 Hz but my husband and myself can't tell the difference. We had been shopping around and this was a great deal.

Excellent Picture, Great Quality, Incredible Value

What an incredible television. You cannot beat this TV for the price. The BAD REVIEW listed on this site is for a different Samsung TV so I am a little confused as to why it remains. Do not let that bad review sway you from this purchase. The black trim around the screen is shiny black but the screen is matte finish so if you have glare issues like I do, this TV is great. The sound quality is just typical TV speaker quality; very little bass. I bought a set of Sony Shelf speakers on this site for $49.00 and they sound awesome (hooked up through a tuner). All my electronics integrated perfectly with this TV. You will be amazed at the quality of this TV and will ponder how you got such a great TV for the price. If your worried about the 60hz, there is no noticeable difference between it and the 120hz.

JUNK! CRAP! CHEAP! BROKE! RETURNED, and bought a BETTER MODEL

Yes, there are some good reviews, but none that have had this TV for a long period of time. You can take the chance in buying, HOPING you won't get a DUD, but the chances are slim as I hear Samsung has not fixed this problem yet. I bought this from Walmart a week ago and the picture was beautiful, BUT THESE ARE KNOWN FOR THE BACKLIGHT GOING OUT and that is what mine did....A WEEK LATER! It is a circuit card that goes bad, and Samsung has never fixed them. I will NEVER buy a Samsung again. Looking at Sony now!

UPDATE: I did buy another Samsung (I'm probably an idiot) from Crutchfield, and it is the LN52B630 model. It (Unlike this model) has 5 STARS (BUT I will say SAMSUNG CUSTOMER SUPPORT SUCKS!!!!!!). Pretty much the same TV, but updated, without all of the problems, more options, lighted remote, With an ETHERNET cable, you can get Stocks, weather and the latest news right on the TV screen, and so on. PLUS it is 120hz which gives a smoother picture! NICE OPTIONS, NICE PIC, and I will update later if it is NICELY built if it lasts. If it does not last, I am going straight to SONY!

Questions & Answers
Question : How do I play my ps2 on my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV?
I hoooked up my ps2 to my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV and the picture is blurry? like I'm talkin very blurry, is there some kind of setting I have to use to play ps2 clearly on the 52-inch?

Answer:
Might be that your playing an old game with standard resolution and/or you have it connected to your TV with a mediocre (standard) video cable. You can use component cables; Sony has one for the PS2 and there is also 3rd party ones but obviously you want to go with the Sony brand. Some games support progressive scan (with component cables) and they look better than regular definition games played on a composite and/or S-video. Also some HDTV's (like LCD's and Plasma's) make your PS2 games (that do not support progressive scan) look worse than a regular TV, specially if they're bigger than 42in. This also happens with (most) regular standard/non digital channel programing (though HD channels obviously look great -also with component or HDMI cables hooked up) . DLP HDTV's don't suffer from this problem(s) but is an older, less popular technology because most DLP TV's (if not al)l are not flat (body wise not screen wise) and therefor bulkier (not to mention a lot more heavier) and consume more space and energy.Like I said try component video cables (they have a green, blue, red, white and red connection tip) they improve the picture quality and are built for HDTV's and forget those standard composite cables (with the yellow, white and red tips) since these cables video input/output was meant for standard (non HD) TV's.

Question : Is the problem with my samsung lcd tv fixable without having to replace the lcd display?
While watching my 2 year old samsung LCD tv, several clusters of pixels (6 of them roughly 4"x4" each) began to gradually flicker rapidly back and fourth with different colors that do not match the rest of picture- it looks like little chunks of colorful static in several locations. Ideas as to the problem? Fixable without replacing the LCD?

Answer:
its actually under the manufactures warrenty i know exactly what your talking aboutbasically what they do is split the screen into 4 quadrants and when you send it in they fix the quadrantsummm samsung typically does 1 year warrentysbut if you bought and extended one from the store you bought it from take it back and they SHOULD take care of the problemYou can test a LCD at this sitehttp://test-lcd-tv.blogspot.com/Hope this help,

Question : Why is my samsung lcd tv screen black when connected to my toshiba laptop using a vga cable?
i tried trouble shooting already. changing resolutions and doing what the computer tells me to do but absolutely nothing is going on screen. it works with the s cable but the picture is lousy. i thought using the vga cable would give a better picture just like it does on the laptops lcd. the laptop is 2 years old but the tv is brand new. could there be compatibility issues? please help!

Answer:
Usually on laptops there are 'function keys'. One of these combination function keys is used to choose the output display. Since the function keys are different on different laptops, I can't tell you where yours is. And by the way, you won't get the same picture quality on your TV as you would from a monitor. This is because your TV isn't capable of displaying the resolutions outputted by computers. This is why computer monitors are more expensive than a TV of the same size.

Question : How to repair my samsung lcd tv sound working but no picture?
My samsung lcd tv suddenly didn't show any picture on screen but nothing happened to the audio.Someone please helpme how to repair it.

Answer:
If you have no volume bar or menu showing on the screen, then it cannot be anything you have wired wrong.to see the picture on an lcd tv, you need to have back lights. the light shines through the lcd panel and you can see the picture. I suspect that you have video on the screen, but you cannot see it because the back lights are not lit. To prove this simply turn the tv on in a very dark room and tune in a channel so you can hear the audio. then with a powerful flashlight, point it into the screen and look around the edge of the flashlight for evidence of video. Be careful not scratch the panel with the flashlight as you place it on it..Back to your problem, the back lights are tiny florescent bulbs and a ballast to run them, similar to the ones in a shop light. If the lights go bad or the ballast fails them you will get your symptom. Many times if the lights fail then not all of them will fail all at once, so the others will start up and then after a second they will cause the ballast to quit trying. In this case when you first start up the tv, you will see a slight glow on the screen (if the room is really dark). Many times you can see which light isn't working, there will be a darker horizontal stripe. This usually means the panel must be replaced, and unless it's cover with a warranty, you will probably not fix it due to the costs. If it never glows slightly, then replacing the ballast may fix it. On some set this board is not available separately, but many have now been released. And on newer sets the ballast is part of the power board, and they have issues with a diode shorting so the part is cheap. With out a model number, I'm spit balling. The last thing that can happen, is there is a slight back glow and no picture is being displayed. This is almost alway the fault of the lcd control board. Like the ballasts, many of these boards are now available without buying the whole panel. At any rate, you know what to expect, there is nothing you can do, because a technician will need to fix it.

Question : Any one buy the Samsung LCD tv with 120 mhz?
I'm looking to buy a LCD tv and have the Samsung 550 and 650 in mind. The biggest difference between the two that I can tell is that the 650 has 120 mhz and the 550 doesn't. I have read that the 120 mhz comes into play when watching fast action scenes or sports and prevents blurring. My question is, is it really with the extra money and will i notice the difference? Thanks!

Answer:
LCD technology produces two artifacts with on screen motion. 1) Motion Jitter - this is the most obnoxious of the LCD motion artifacts; it produces shaky, jittery trailing edges on moving objects. Best seen with scrolling credits at the end of a movie.2) Motion Blur - stretches the moving object out behind the image, best seen with high contrast between the moving object and the background.120 Hz does a good job with the removal of jitter. 120 Hz does a poor job on the removal of motion blur. In fact, the 120 Hz motion compensation co-processors do not have the processing power to complete their calculations under all live sporting event and movie scenes. They can and often do produce their own artifacts called halo (incomplete background processing) on the trailing side of moving objects. I find halo artifacts to be as obnoxious as jitter and recommend that you turn 120 Hz OFF during a movie, therefore, 120 Hz will be of some limited benefit during sports programs and gaming. Is this feature worth the price and complexity? That is subjective and a decision that only you can make. Come into my shop in Crystal Lake, Il. and I would be more than happy to show you a demonstration of jitter, blur and 120 Hz operation and then you could make-up your own mind as to the effectiveness of 120 Hz. Most of my customers are shocked when they see the truth!

Question : I need help with my new Samsung LCD TV and my Comcast HD box?
I have a new 22 inch Samsung LCD HDTV. It is widescreen. Now, when I go to an HD channel and watch the HD shows, it fills the entire screen. But, whenever I go to a non-HD channel, I have black bars on the side of the screen. I have an HDTV downstairs, and whether it is on an HD channel or not, it fills the entire screen. Can anybody help me with this?

Answer:
There are TWO aspect ratio settings....one on the cable box and one on the TV set......Set the TV to FULL or STANDARD.....Set the Cable box to 16:9 or Wide.....but be careful to NOTE that some cable boxes have TWO settings in them also.....One setting for 16:9 pictures and a possible SECOND one to select the size of a 4:3 picture coming from the TV station....if that second setting is set to normal and not STRETCH then you get the pillar boxes......And some of these damn TV Stations think it's COOOL to lock in a 4:3 picture onto a 16:9 FRAME so you can't remove those damn pillar boxes.....Local TV stations do a lot of that.....They SUCK! And all you can do is Call them and complain until they get so overwhelmed by so many upset customers, that they switch to WideScreen Video.....That's how you get things done....

Question : How to hook up satellite receiver, Panasonic surround sound to a samsung lcd tv?
So the surround sounds works when we are playing dvds but it won't work when we are watching our satellite tv. I don't know the right terms for the cables or anything so if you could dumb down the cords to like colour of cords! That would be great! Or if someone has a diagram that would be helpful that would be great too! None of the instructions in the manuals are helpful!!!

Answer:
you need to go from the audio right(red) and left(white) OUTPUT from the back of your DVD Player to an available set of audio right & left INPUTS on the back of your home theater receiver. the yellow jack (video) goes from the TV box to one of yellow inputs on the back of your TV. than use the remote to select/change the input on your receiver to the find the input you are currently utilizing. and you will get the audio out of your speakers. don't be worried if it only comes out of two speakers. the TV signal might only be in stereo, not surround sound like DVDs.

NO ! unless you TV is Multi Systems. i don't think so.because all Multi SYSTEMS TV work Auto Voltage AC 100-260 V ( like all Laptop ).since you need steps up transformer ,is will be only 1 ) TV from Mose of EU countries is PAL systems.DVB tuner . 2 ) from Germany and Holland IS only DVB - T digital tuner . 3 ) from France is SCEAM systems and IPVP digital tuner. // is never work with USA ATSC digital Tuning systems ( non of EU countries use or going to swift to ATSC ) . even you cant work for AV playback ,source from USA DVD/VCR/PS3 video out are NTSC signals . .
