Don't use this monitor for displaying text on your laptop/pc at 1080p

Caveat Emptor:

I am an electrical engineer, and I purchased this TV based on the favorable reviews of this TV as a monitor. I have a Dell laptop with an HDMI connector, and a high res video card, and though I could connect and display a picture at 1080p (1920x1080 resolution), the resolution was not crisp, and there were noticable artifacts with text not being smooth and other image distortion.

I'm surprised that the electronics on this Samsung 27" TV are not as good as my Samsung 24" Syncmaster 240HD I purchased two years ago, because that TV is working beautifully with 1920x1080p monitor resolution on the same laptop both for TV and monitor mode. This is not a driver issue, because my laptop also works with another Samsung HD monitor at work.

I was in the Costco store here in Palo Alto, and I tried both the 23" and 27" Samsung HDTVs #2770HD and #2370HD with my laptop's HDMI connection, and the picture was terrible for text.

I ended up buying another Samsung 27" Monitor, a different model without the HDTV circuitry, because of this issue, though it was frustrating buying a monitor that had only a single HDMI, and no remote.

That being said, if you are happy with using this Samsung HDTV with your Xbox, or Cable TV, this TV has a good picture. But for a monitor, this TV is not suitable for my purposes, and I returned it.

Very pleased

I just set this TV up and am very pleased with it. I was a little worried after reading the reviews, and debated whether or not to return it to Costco for something different. I'm glad I kept this one. It is set up in a room about 15' X 15' and I find the sound to be more than adequate. I only have it turned up about half as loud as it can go. The picture quality is great--very clear. The previous reviewer said the remote did not have a "picture size" button, but my remote has one making it very easy to change the size. I also read that the tv cannot be removed from the stand once placed in there, but we removed it several times just to test it. Overall, I'm very happy with this product.

amazon service is very bad

The tv , is fine but amazon charged my credit card twice for one item, and did not correct it when i called or email amazon, I had to go to my bank to refund my money.
I rate amazon customer service treble.
I had bad experience several time with amazon, i will not purchase from amazon any more

Great Monitor, Great TV

I bought this monitor open box from a different website. It has a very large easy to read screen with many options to change how it displays. The HDTV tuner in it is great as-well, picks up all of my channels and quickly changes between them. There is a slight bit of light on the edges when viewing a black screen but not bad at all. Overall it's great.

Disappointing

I had great expectations for this TV based on my experience with a full feature 46 inch Samsung LCD that is awesome in every regard. But this model is disappointing in too many important regards.

The viewing angle on any LCD is limited, but this one badly loses color tint at any small angle from the screen; left, right, up, or down. In a small exercise room in which the set is viewed from different locations, it results in a poor picture.

As another reviewer observed, the audio level is much too weak. With the volume control at the max, the noise from a treadmill makes the TV almost inaudible from a distance of just a few feet.

On my big Samsung, I'm used to the set automatically adjusting the picture size to the optimum, depending on the program source (4:3, 16:9, or letterbox). Not so with the P2770HD. It's strictly manual, and there's no convenient P SIZE button on the remote like the big set. You have to drill through multiple menu layers to find the picture size adjustment, and you have to do it frequently when the program source changes.

This set may be suitable for a small room where there is little ambient noise and in which the viewer sits dead-straight in front of the screen. In that sense, it probably doubles nicely as a PC monitor. But I couldn't recommend it for other applications outside of those narrow circumstances.

Good TV for the price but.......watch your burn ins!!!

I got this TV back in March 2009. Love it, Amazon shipped it fast. Been watching Blu-ray movies on it for a while and OMG!!! the picture quality is amazing for a 720p. I watch a lot of shows and play games on it. This is where I mean watch the burn ins. I was playing a game for a little of an hour and notice when I turned it off that I could see a ghost image still on the black screen. Also me and my wife were watching something on TLC for a while. Well in the bottom right corner there is "TLC" stamped there through the whole show. After it was over, TLC was still there. It has been 4 days and I can still see the TLC logo, and some of my game burn in. Ive done all the burn in options time and time again and it looks like its fading away but still there. I don't regret buying it because it has such a great picture for the price. But when I do buy another TV it will be a LCD. I will talk to Amazon to see what I need to do because I have a protection plan.

Dead Pixles after one year

After a year TV pixles die and not covered by manuf DO NOT buy insurance through CPS Central because you get ripped off. Once it is determined the TV is bad CPS Central makes you ship the TV back before a replacement is shipped and the cost of shipping is extremely high and you loose on ther replacement value.

Still Great after 11 months

Got this TV for our family room for Christmas 2008. Its been in high use since then (PS3 and WII games played by the kids and lots of plain old TV watching). Neither my husband nor I am particularly talented when it comes to dealing with technology issues and we had zero problem setting this up and getting it going on our own. I had been warned about "burn in" from the video games -- but its not been a problem (I did make the kids wait about a month and a half to break it in before hooking up the video games). At the time I paid just under $1000 for it and thought I had gotten a great deal. I was looking today for a smaller flat screen to buy for my mom (who covets our TV) and find that this one is available now for only $730!! What a deal!!! I might have to get another one. I should mention that I purchased it from Amazon last year (they had the best price that I could find anywhere -- even at the last minute holiday sales -- and it came with "white glove" delivery service (they would have set it up if we had wanted them to -- but since we didnt' want it set up they did lug it into the house and help us get it out of the box (they disposed of the packing for us) and safely hidden away. I can't say enough about how easily everything went.

Buyer beware Buy another Brand of TV not samsung

I purchased a samsung 50" plasma tv on march 14 2008 and it started makeing a sparking sound in january of 2010.picture went out on february 14 2010.TV repair tech says it will cost $700.00 to repair. A $1300.00 dollar tv should last more than 23 months.this is not uncommon on samsung tvs.do your research before buying one.Don't get ripped off like I did.

Good picture for the money, but worrying about burn-in is a PITA

This TV has a good picture, but it's a little dim even with the settings turned up, and there's always that fear of burn-in. I had a logo stuck in the bottom corner for a couple days and it made me wish I'd bought an LCD. It eventually went away, but now I have to keep my settings turned down and I have to constantly worry about what I'm watching. If you have the money, buy a good LCD.

Question : My new Samsung LCD TV won't pick up the channels that I use to have from my old t.v.?
I just bought a new Samsung LCD TV a few days ago. I went ahead and scan for channels but I found some channels missing. I did a rescan but I still can't find the channels. I have an outdoor antenna that I use for picking up channels. Would I have to move my antenna around to be able to pick it up and/or is there any other solutions?

Question : How To Watch HD 1080 content from Computer to SAMSUNG LCD TV Series 3?
I have HD1080 movies on my pc and I want to watch them on my SAMSUNG LCD TV Series 3, but I can't understand how to connect my PC to LCD TV to watch High definition content. Please help.

Answer:
You will have to get a PC with a HDMI OUT port on it. You will then have to connect the cord to the HDMI IN port on the Television. Only some computers have HDMI out port on them, so if you don't get a VGA cable and connect it to your Television. The port of a VGA had a sign that looks like I D I that sorta. 'The HDMI port is a lot smaller then the VGA port. All depends on the computer you have. good luck!

Question : How Do I Use Picture In Picture On My New 32" Samsung LCD TV?
I just bought a new 32" lcd samsung tv, and i was hoping to use it both as a computer screen and a tv. Is there i way i can watch tv, and have my computer screen PIP'ed while i watch tv?

Answer:
Sorry . i don't think any 32 inc LCD TV come with PIP .you can use it as PC monitor . if the TV model with VGA direct connector. or you need to by any VGA - RCA converter .however . if the TV with out PIP. you can never watch TV / PC as the same time.usually only big screen TV with PIP.( not all model ) if not the screen display will be too small to you eye.

Question : how do i set non cable channels on my samsung lcd tv?
im trying to set the channels on my new Samsung 32" Lcd 720p Hdtv and i do not have cable. I keep getting weak or no signal.

Answer:
Get an antenna, connect it to your tv, run the over the air channel scan as outlined in your owner's manual. If you still can't get a signal, you can try moving the antenna closer to a window, and then try an antenna with a signal booster, if all that fails, an outdoor antenna could work. Or you may be too far from any broadcast towers to pick up over the air signals and will need cable.

Question : Why does my Samsung LCD TV screen have a blue tone when I connect peripherals using component cables?
I have a 19-inch Samsung flat-screen LCD TV. When I connect peripherals (DVD player, XBox 360, etc.) through the component ports, everything has a blue-ish tone to it. I know it's not the component cables themselves because I've tried 3 different sets of component cables and they all have the same blue tone result. So I'm guessing there's something wrong with the TV itself. If I connect things through other ports (S-Video, Composite, DVI, etc.), everything is fine. Could I possibly have changed a setting on my TV by mistake to make everything blue when connecting things through the component ports? Or is this just an issue with the TV itself? Thanks in advance for the help.

Answer:
Sometimes a Samsung LCD can push blue if you have your color settings on "Cool" - and for that matter, ALL TV's have a color push out of the box.If you want to reduce the blue push, try changing from "Cool" to "Warm" in your picture settings. Also, check to see if you're receiving blue as a result of your component settings not receiving a "red" or "green" picture. Sometimes it takes a moment to notice, but blue will be pushed because red or green aren't transmitting from your source content (DVD player, or whatever) to your TV.If that doesn't help, try calling Samsung's toll free phone number - 800-SAMSUNG during M-F normal business hours. That number connects you to one of the three offices in the United States, which is cool that you aren't being rerouted to India.Good luck to you!

Question : What should I do with a broken Samsung LCD TV?
I have a 40 in. Samsung LCD TV that has a blank picture but sound works. It broke 3 weeks after the 2 year maintenance plan expired :( . I'm afraid this will cost $300-$400 to fix.. I hate to throw something away that visually(outside/not picture) is in great condition and might be fixable. Any suggestions?

Answer:
People don't realize the things they can do with broken TV's. I know some people who make fish tanks, do things with the wires, and I even saw one guy who made a calculator with a recycled TV.I personaly, have no idea what to do with it. But take it apart and see if you can find something you can use! However, if you want to keep it as a TV and see if someone can fix it, ask your local tec-wiz or look up for some people in the phone book. If you look hard, you'll find someone who will be able fo fix it.

Question : Why do larger samsung lcd tv's take longer to come on then smaller ones?
My Samsung 26 inch HDTV T260 Montior turns on faster then my 46" Samsung Tv Monitor? I just think its odd that one takes longer to turn on just because of its size.

Answer:
Because they have to charge a larger capacitor for the backlight... it takes more time.
