Amazing Quality

I have owned this TV for almost three months now and I am still wowed by its fantastic image. I am quite picky about my electronics and this is the third HDTV I've had in my home. I've returned both a Samsung 50" DLP and a competitor's 42" LCD. Honestly, before I bought this model, I was scared I'd never find a TV that lived up to my quality standards. I took a gamble on this Samsung when I saw its price had dropped. Am I happy I made that purchase now!

I'm an avid gamer, so response time and lag-free scan conversion were high on my list of wants. Quite simply, Gears of War looks unbelievable at 720p. I was hesitant of upgrading to HD because of concerns over losing the ability to play older games. You will want to make sure your consoles can output over component video (even 480i is fine, of course) or that you have some means of up-converting older inputs (my Sony stereo does a pretty poor job of this). But since the PS2 can render PS1 games (Final Fantasy IX never looked so good) and the Wii supports progressive scan GameCube games (mmm, Super Smash Bros. Melee at 480p) this has ceased to be a problem.

I won't say that standard definition video looks good. I've heard that this TV is rated the highest among 32" TVs for SD video, but who buys an HDTV for SD television channels? I will say that 24 looks better in 1080i than my DVDs look at 480p. Watch the opening to House and you will become a believer. I also can't speak to this TV's 10W speakers. If you have the funds for this LCD TV, you already have a nice receiver and surround sound (or top-end two-channel speakers). I haven't had audio running to my TV in years. This Samsung does have a nice option for a hardware mute, so my TV speakers have never even been used. But I don't know, maybe this is a bedroom TV for you; it's not like any of its competitors have seriously better offerings for audio either.

So, yes, this 32" LCD has a price that competes with some 40" LCDs. But for good reason; this is the best of the best when it comes to 32" TVs. And any 40" below $1500 isn't worth your money. I'm a hard sell and I have fallen in love with this TV and would recommend it without hesitation. Great job, Samsung.

Samsung doesn't sing

Great video product. Very clear picture and easy enough to install. But the sound through the speakers is weak and sometimes needs the boost of a receiver/amplifier and external speakers to enjoy the video. Children in the 19th century were supposed to be "seen and not heard". Surely that should not apply to 21st century electronics.

Samsung LNS3296D 32 in LCD HDTV

We have had this tv for a little over three months and my wife and myself absolutely love it. Bright crystal clear picture and great looks, and best of all a great price from Amazon. Plenty of inputs. Standard cable looks great and hd programming is stunning as well as DVD's. I also purchased calibration software, but found that I really didn't need it. My settings were very close to the factory settings. We view in movie mode with the energy settings for the back light on low. I would recommend this tv to anyone looking for a quality set with an amazing picture. Sound is through a Sony 7.1 receiver with Polk Rt's and Infinity SM speakers, and a 100 watt powered sub, so I cannot give an opinion on the sound quality. When it comes to LCD's you get what you pay for, plus Consumer Reports rates this tv in first place as of FEB 07

stunning picture if you tweak it correctly

I was a sony fanboy before I investigated samsungs new lcds. I think that this LCD is top notch and compares well with the Bravia series of sony. SD picture ranges from very good to average. Where this TV shines is on HD broadcasts and gaming were the picture is nearly perfect, provided you tweak the settings (turn on energy savings, etc). Sound quality is average at best (10w after all). I would reccomend connecting a receiver. I gave this TV a five simply because the HiDef quality, good contrast and ample settings make the image beyond reproach. Unless your going to use this for SD broadcasts you cant go wrong.

I'm Pretty Happy

I've had this TV for about a month now. If I didn't already have a Samsung DLP, I likely would have given this a higher rating. The picture is very good, but I agree that the sound is a little weak. I upgraded the sound with a Bose two speaker system and am happier with the package.

I would say that I like my DLP better. I think the DLP has a much better HD picture and the hook-ups for the DLP were much better.

I would say that this TV makes a great 2nd HD TV, especially if you are working with a small space to place the screen; however, for the money, I would buy a Samsung DLP for a primary TV and movie watching.

Get it while it lasts

Best LCD I've seen to date, bar none. I did my homework for quite sometime and found the 81F series to be a hidden gem. This being the 2007 LED backlit series, it was $1,000 cheaper than the 2008 Samsung LN46A950 (120Hz). Thankfully, I got mine in time: the 2009 Luxia series Samsungs LNXXB8000 (240Hz), LNXXB7000 and LNXXB6000 do not have local LED dimming! What's the point of having an LED backlight? Grab your A950 and 81F series while you can.

Only one notable con: sound quality. Certainly not a deal breaker, but you'll definitely not want to depend on the internal speakers.

So far, so good. Finally took the plunge for an HD set.

I finally took the plunge for an HD set. At the time that I last set up my home theater - HD had _just_ come on market. Some early CRT-based HD sets were available, but the specification wasn't quite there, and certainly content availability was very low. The sets were _very_ expensive as well. So I simply opted for a high-end Standard Def. set from Sony.

Things were fine for a long time.

Then the LCD sets came on the market. Vendors wanted more money for what was, to my eyes, an inferior picture. CRT based sets were quickly discontinued - not necessarily because LCD technology was superior (it certainly wasn't) - but because such sets take much less floor space on a show room floor. The poor color representation, and pixelization, and motion blur of LCD sets turned me off, and Plasma wasn't much better. I just couldn't see spending more money for a worse picture, even if the set had physical advantages in terms of space, and power savings.

Well, fast forward to today. After looking over several Samsung models - I ended up purchasing this set. It's by no means the current "best available" at this point - but considering the price and quality it's quite good. The black levels on this set are amazing (none of that dark gray = black). The color representation is excellent. And, so far, judder and motion blur seem acceptably low.

Hi-definition sportscasts look amazing. NHL and NBA (currently in-season) look fantastic - the gleam of the ice or the court, or the reflections off the glass barriers is really something to see.

The X-Box 360 looks fantastic in 1080p - and video games don't seem to have any real lag between the control and updates of on-screen action.

The 3:2 pulldown, movie mode (24 fps) looks quite alright so far. Several DVDs (don't have the Blu-Ray yet) look almost Hi-Def when up-sampled (several guests have been amazed that it wasn't actually a Hi-Def source).

All in all, pleasantly happy with this set, and looking forward to several years of viewing pleasure.

Had this TV for over a year. Still like new. Picture and sound is crystal clear. Color is amazing. I watch sports, play 360 and PS3 games, everything looks so good. I don't have one complaint. Buy it now!

Insanely great televeision

Samsung has created a thing of beauty with it's LED-LCD TV line. The blacks on phenomenal and when used in conjunction with a Samsung Blu-Ray player, it works flawlessly as 1 product. When you turn off the TV, the Blu-Ray goes into sleep mode, when the TV is off and you insert a movie, the TV comes on while the Blu-Ray begins to load...an amazing product. I would advise caution regarding the sellers and shippers though.

Very happy with this TV so far (1 month). Picture is great; like the source switching - it knows what's connected and just switches between those peripherals; like the stand and the swiveling; side AV inputs are great. One thing that could be better in my view is the remote, the button layout isn't great: the channel up and down buttons and the enter button are far away from the number buttons.

Great TV Great Price

I am 1 of those persons that bought a LCD for playing my PS3 this purchase did not let me down. Everything shows great on this TV and it has great featues and it is easy to set up. It looks great and even though you cannot see the speakers they actually sound ok.

Internet is a great experience on this TV as is watching movies and the endless amounts of ports makes you wonders how you lived without it before. I especially like the TV turn on feature which is now 1 of my 3 alarms to get me out of bed.

Wonderfuly TV i fyou buy this product you will not be disappointed unless you really needed to by a 50+ inch TV to fill a void in a HUGE room.

Great value, disappointing HDMI

I had purchased this TV in October of '08 from another vendor. I was researching 720p sets for about month before I purchased. I had planned on using my media center PC with it. I really didn't want a 1080p set because the only true 1080p source these days is blu-ray, which I had no intention of investing in. I was impressed with all aspects of the set since I bought it. Ghosting was present sometimes. I found it really depends on the source of the content that produces more or less ghosting. Yes there are the 120hz HDTVs out there, but from what I have seen they can't get rid of all the ghosting. 120hz sets double the frame rate of content that isn't supposed to be run at such a high frame rate. The result is weird and unnatural looking motion in movies that are only supposed to be running at 24 frames per second, not 120. Ghosting and motion blur are an inherent limitation in LCD technology, LCD owners will have to accept this. I was looking into plasmas to, but all the 720p plasmas I found seemed to have a native resolution of 1024x768, which is not a wide screen resolution. In addition, plasmas are subject to burn-in on the screens, something I didn't wanna have to deal with. Plasma sets are being phased out pretty fast anyway. So I chose this TV, it wasn't too big, wasn't too small, and had everything I required.

Out of the Box, it showed impressive HD picture with off-air HD channels. The setup with auto-program was very easy and straight forward. SD content is very watchable. Hooking my media center PC up to the VGA connection produced a flawless picture. The built-in speakers produced a satisfying full sound. The unit seemed like the perfect 720p set, until I tried to use more than one HDMI device. Apparently, for some very odd reason, only 1 out of the 3 HDMI inputs will utilize the TV's native resolution of 1360x768. As many people know, if you are not running an LCD display at its native resolution, you are not getting its full potential in picture quality and sharpness. The other 2 HDMI inputs default to a resolution of 1280x720, which because its not the native res of the TV, looks blocky and slightly out of focus. So for me, these other 2 HDMI inputs are basically useless. I am going to have to buy an HDMI hub now to accommodate my multiple HDMI devices so they can all utilize the TV's native resolution. If I had known about this flaw, I would have never purchased it. Samsung, if you are listening, is there a purpose behind this design flaw?

Great TV

I am able to review this TV because of the savings Amazon provided over in town pricing on another TV we purchased through them, the Samsung LN-T4069F (you will also notice some cut and paste of the review I did for that TV as many of Samsungs feature set are the same on both TVs). The savings alone on our other purchase made this purchase possible.

I did the mandatory research (as most of you have) before purchasing this TV and am extremely happy with my purchase. Having the LN-T4069F for a bit allowed us to have our faith in Samsung confirmed.

I was worried about the shipping process (and damage horror stories) on this unit as it was shipped UPS (vs. Eagle on the LN-T4069F). However the worries were unfounded. The unit arrived in perfect condition.

The TV is excellent for this category. The picture is awesome in HD. SD does not look very good compared to a CRT, but for a 26", it is not nearly as bad looking as a 40". I am one of those people that refuses to stretch a 4:3 image to widescreen so the size of the 4:3 image was important to me, and on this TV (because I found no specs or mention of this on any web site) the non stretched 4:3 picture is 13" H, 18"W which is 22" Diagonal. This is secondary TV for us, so unlike the need for 120Hz on the LN-T4069F for gaming and watching motorsports, we chose this standard LCD since budget was an issue. Although I have not played video games on it, there is the normal LCD motion blur in fast moving action, to be expected but not as bad as I thought without the 120Hz feature.

The sound is good for TV of this size. You have decent stereo separation, and the TruSurround XT does a nice job. Small speakers like these do have decent sound, nice for built ins, but don't expect any bass.

Cons:
Unless it is a hidden feature that I have yet to find, you cannot custom name your inputs. Even my 27" Panasonic TV purchase in 2000 allowed you to custom name your inputs to whatever you like. On this TV you have only presets choices (such as HD STB, Game, DVD, etc). You can't input things such as Xbox 360, Cox HD Cable and the like. It is hard to believe a feature like this missing, but I won't downgrade the overall score of the TV for something so small that really has no bearing on the quality of build and picture of this unit.

The base does not provide any swivel or adjustments at all, it is a fixed unit.

this is one great tv. the picture, sound, and over all experience is wonderful. i searched around for all different brands of lcd hdtv that were flat screens. in the end, no tv had a better picture and price than this tv.

i always thought playing xbox 360 was fun in general, but hooking it up to this tv makes that experience phenomenal.

This tv is well worth the money (I would have paid more if Amazon's price wasn't so low haha).

This is the most awesome tv. The experience of watching programs in HD on this set is like looking through a window at things as they happen right before your eyes. The contrast and picture quality is unsurpassed. Setup was so easy and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Amazon had the best price by far and even sent me a refund when the price dropped $100 within the first month after I bought the set.

Great LCD for price & size

I purchased this for a bedroom and have it on a wall bracket. It was easy to install, has good sound for it's size and the picture is great.
Only comment is on some older TV shows the backgrounds can be a bit too dark. I've tried playing with the setting but it doesn't help much. I would recommend this Samsung. It's a good TV at a great price.

Question : What should I do with my 32 inch Samsung LCD TV box?
Should I just put it out with the trash? What if one of the neighbors sees the box and thinks it is a nice TV and decides to break into all the apartments one by one until he finds it and steals it. Or am I being too paranoid?Should I take the box off and dispose of it myself? Should I sneak it out in the middle of the night so nobody sees me? What should I do?

Answer:
If you live in a bad part of town... You have the right idea! I suggest folding it down carefully, cutting it up into squares, and just throwing it out. Or, if there's a dumpster nearby, like behind a store, just chuck it in there.

Question : How much do I have to pay as custom to but a 32 samsung LCD TV from US?
I was wondering if anyone now how much I will be paying to custom if I buy a brand new samsung 32" LCD TV from US? ( price that I will buy is c700.

Answer:
You'll have to contact CRA to find the duty (if any). If it's built outside the US or Mexico, and it almost certainly is, you'll have to pay duty. You'll also pay GST and are responsible for PST (they don't usually collect that at the border, you are 'required' to submit it yourself in most cases). Of course, if you're from Quebec or (I think) NB, it will be collected as part of the harmonized sales tax along with GST.All those taxes are on the landed price, after duties, btw.

Question : PS3 connection to Samsung lcd tv via HDMI cable?
We have a ps3 connected to a samsung lcd tv via a HDMI cable. The sound settings are to HD but the sound keeps going off and on. Any ideas?Tried that Jaguar but the ps3 has to be on for the hdmi connection to be highlighted? Maybe it's a dodgy cable? Are HDMI cables that sensitive?Still playing up! Changed HDMI and it works on our Sony HD tv, Playstation3 ok so TV must be the problem. Spoke to Samsung and they werent sure so I'll pop into a local Samsung repair centre to ask if they knew what it could be. Tv suppports 1080i nd HD sp I dont know what it is?Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It could be that you have the settings set too high for the TV. Go to sound options and set them to the lowest (Stereo 44.1kHz) your TV should be able to play this.

Question : how do i set non cable channels on my samsung lcd tv?
im trying to set the channels on my new Samsung 32" Lcd 720p Hdtv and i do not have cable. I keep getting weak or no signal.

Answer:
Get an antenna, connect it to your tv, run the over the air channel scan as outlined in your owner's manual. If you still can't get a signal, you can try moving the antenna closer to a window, and then try an antenna with a signal booster, if all that fails, an outdoor antenna could work. Or you may be too far from any broadcast towers to pick up over the air signals and will need cable.

Ideas as to the problem? Fixable without replacing the LCD?

Answer:
its actually under the manufactures warrenty i know exactly what your talking aboutbasically what they do is split the screen into 4 quadrants and when you send it in they fix the quadrantsummm samsung typically does 1 year warrentysbut if you bought and extended one from the store you bought it from take it back and they SHOULD take care of the problemYou can test a LCD at this sitehttp://test-lcd-tv.blogspot.com/Hope this help,

Question : Why is my samsung lcd tv screen black when connected to my toshiba laptop using a vga cable?
i tried trouble shooting already. changing resolutions and doing what the computer tells me to do but absolutely nothing is going on screen. it works with the s cable but the picture is lousy. i thought using the vga cable would give a better picture just like it does on the laptops lcd. the laptop is 2 years old but the tv is brand new. could there be compatibility issues? please help!

Answer:
Usually on laptops there are 'function keys'. One of these combination function keys is used to choose the output display. Since the function keys are different on different laptops, I can't tell you where yours is. And by the way, you won't get the same picture quality on your TV as you would from a monitor. This is because your TV isn't capable of displaying the resolutions outputted by computers. This is why computer monitors are more expensive than a TV of the same size.

Question : I bought a Samsung LCD TV. My older LCD had an external speaker jack, but this TV just has a optical audio out?
Do the new LCD TVs have anyway of connecting a regular pair of speakers to it?

Answer:
If you have a cable box, you can run the red/white audio cables straight from the cable box to your receiver for stereo.I got a new receiver with optical inputs when I got my first HDTV. But unless you are using an antenna and the tv's internal tuner, only stereo will pass from the tv's optical output. To get surround, you have to use optical cable from an HD cable box to a receiver. So you have the choices of running the red/white out of a cable box if you have one or getting a receiver with optical inputs on it. Many receivers are available on craigslist for less than $75 which would work for you.
