Great Product, terrible delivery
Amazon used some off the wall delivery service for this very large and delicate item.
Result: TV had large hole through the middle of screen, and was undeliverable.
It left a very bad taste, as TV was Christmas present for family.

INCREDIBLE!!!
After an exhausting study and research on Flat panel LCD TVs this one by far was not only the best value, but the clarity and crispness of this image is INCREDIBLE!!! Right on the money with angle view, milliseconds, ratio and HD quality!!!

My first hdtv; looks like a keeper.
Had to replace a fifteen year old RCA 31" crt set. Analyzed these things to death. Flat screens are now the only way you can go, forcing most to higher cable/sat charges for HD content. I don't have HD (Dish) yet, so the full capabilities of this Samsung are yet to be proven. Standard def material is catch as catch can; some is just fine, some is purty awful...but truth be told, that is more'n likely the fault of the program source (pink faces, crappy looking graphics and the like.) A couple of cons in MHO; touch of color seems to be a waste of ad space. What is needed?? Put a table lamp behind the set to be able to enjoy the burgundy-wine colored ring? What, already. Next...those touch-sensitive controls in front of the set. To use them, one has to go fetch a flashlight. Useless, unless engineering would have back-lighted the little suckers. Lastly, that annoying "muted" icon that floats around the screen. Get rid of it, or at least just flash the muted indicator momentarily; no sound?? Press a volume button and the question is answered. As for all the negative reviews about Samsung support and service; I bought from a local big-box store and ponied up for their three year coverage. Takes the factory run-around out of the loop. Hope to never have to use it, but if ever needed, the policy will handle all the footwork. That's why one buys insurance, huh? So far (three weeks and counting) this set is working out fine. Now, let's see, where did I see that really good blu-ray disk player??

Another Great Samsung LCD
I purchased this Samsung LCD television for my mother for Christmas. She absolutely loves it and so do I. The picture this TV produces is clear and vibrant. The price was unbelievably low. The shipping was free and more importantly, hassle free. Within 2 days of pressing 'place order' the television was delivered without issue by Eagle Transfer. I would purchase this TV again and certainly recommend it to my friends.

A Great HDTV
I probably did 2 months of homework before I finally settled on this Samsung 550 Series Plasma. Initially I hadn't even planned on looking into a Plasma, but now I'm glad I did. I'll get the only con I have out of the way first. During your first 100 hours of viewing, like any plasma you do have to be smart about possible image retention. There is a quick fix to this though, this model has a screen burn prevention feature that moves pixels automatically up and down as often as every minute. Don't worry, it is unnoticable. There is also an after-image removal feature that can be run if you do have noticable screen burn. Just be smart, don't leave something paused for a long period of time and you'll have no worries.
The pros of this TV far outweigh the one con I have. To start, the Menu functions are great. You can do a lot of adjusting to get the exact picture you're looking for, and the default settings are good too. There are a variety of advanced settings, so you may really want to take some time to play around with those. I really like the picture control settings, you can control all aspects of the picture you're viewing.
The Plug & Play feature is awesome. It sets up your language, channels and time. The TV will detect all of the channels available coming into it, HD included. It will then remove any that are scrambled automatically. The plug & play feature is great and makes things easy for you. From there you can add/delete, save favorites and even set a timer that will auto-switch to a channel when you're favorite show is on.
The sound is decent. You aren't going to get theater sound from any flat panel TV these days, but as far as this model its pretty good. I have it hooked up to a home audio system with the TruSurround HD function enabled. This gives you a great 5.1 surround sound environment. It also has an equalizer if you want to tweek the sound.
There are a ton of inputs available. 4 HDMI ports(one specifically set for DVI), 2 AV, 2 component and PC input. Whether you are feeding in your Blu-Ray player, PC or a camera, there are plenty of slots. There is also a USB port where you can do a variety of things. You can update the firmware of the TV,or you can view photos and listen to Mp3's. So you can feed a bunch of toys into this TV. The quality of them all is typical Samsung, meaning it's outstanding.
One last feature to talk about it the Anynet+ feature that enables you to control all connected Samsung devices with the TV remote. I didn't think I would even have this available to me considering my Blu-Ray player is a Panasonic, but it detected it and I can control it with my TV remote. Pretty cool.
Now on to the best part...the picture. The picture on this TV is amazing. I looked at so many different TV's in the last couple months, but quite honestly this one had the best picture. I researched LED-LCD, Plasma and regular LCD. I'm a big sports and movie guy, so getting a TV to fit my interests was important. I found that many plasma's do better with the motion in sports, so thats why I started looking at them. This model handles it flawlessly, especially in Hi-Def. I've been watching the Olympics, the women's halfpipe snowboarding was one of the coolest things I've ever watched in Hi-Def. The colors are rich and deep, the black levels are perfect, and I'm not having any problems with glare that I've heard people have with plasma TV's. I have Hi-Def cable now, I'm blown away. And as far as movies go, Blu-Rays on this TV are spectacular. Unfortunately I'm blowing a lot of money now on Blu-Rays, but its worth it.
So in a nutshell I'm highly recommending this Samsung. Another added incentive to plasma is the price. You'll be paying a lot more for a similar LCD, and quite frankly I think this has a better picture. Amazon had the best prices too, so look no further. I received free shipping, Pilot handled the duties. My recommendation is to be proactive with Pilot if you do deal with them. They weren't the greatest service but after a phone call to their local hub they came through. I am so happy with my purchase. If you are debating on this TV, don't. You won't regret it. Enjoy.

Great TV at a great price
Our family decided to upgrade from our first HDTV, a 32" Toshiba LCD; which we've always liked, it's just not very big.
Initially we were thinking of about a 46" LCD but after visiting both BB and American TV & Appliance, we discovered that with a plasma one got a great - and maybe even better - picture, and a larger size for the the same or less cost than an LCD. But I was still leery because of what I'd heard about plasmas of the past: energy hogs that run hot, heavy, fragile, image burn-in, and short service life. I felt the plasma sets at the stores and while they ran warmer than the LCD's, they weren't hot and they weren't any warmer than the CRT sets I'd lived with for years. I also checked the specs on energy consumption and they weren't extraordinarily higher than LCD's. And while image burn-in can still be a problem, it's easily avoidable if one uses some simple common sense. Plasmas' service life is as good or better than LCD's. They're rated for more hours of TV watching than I probably have left in my lifetime; so I think I'm safe in that respect. I also rely on Consumer Reports religiously and it also supports the fact that today's plasmas are good, reliable TV's with superb picture quality.
So we switched to now looking only for a plasma, and we could now also look for a bigger TV (50"-58") for the same or less money than we had been planning to spend on a 46" LCD. Eventually, based on reviews, visits to electronics stores, researching specs, and price, it came down to the Samsung PN50B550 or the Panasonic P50S14. I found some forums that described how to safely hack a Sammy b550 into a b560 (the firmware is resident in the 550, but not activated); and I didn't think the b650/660's internet access feature made them worth the extra money for us. The Sammy b850/860's are fabulous - very slim, fantastic picture - but at least $900 more than the b550. And the b550's were being priced to move to make room for the incoming Sammy C series plasmas for 2010. So the best value - price and quality of picture - for us was the b550. The decision to choose the between the Sammy and Panny (at about the same price) was agonizing. I wanted to make the absolute best decision for the money being spent. Eventually it came down, to a great extent, to the recently disclosed revelations that Panny plasmas black levels and contrast degrade measurably over time; and the Sammy was already a bit better than Panny when both were new, but the Panny was a bit brighter. So we decided on the Sammy P50B550, but now where to buy.
Our choices for best price came down to Amazon.com or a local big box, American TV & Appliance. We chose Amazon because for the same price we got the set delivered into our living room(free shipping) and saved the sales tax. At American we would have had to haul the nearly 90# box home ourselves or pay extra to have it delivered. The free shipping was a big factor in the purchase decision. The online purchase and followup communication from Amazon was flawless. The set was delivered a day earlier than promised, and even set up in our living room within 5 minutes. The delivery crew was great and well trained. The only drawback was unavoidable; because we live in wisconsin, and it was February, we had to wait until the set warmed up from the 10 degrees outside temp before trying it out.
But what a great choice we made. We got a 50" plasma for at least $300-$400 less than a 46" LCD with a picture quality that would even come close to touching (but still not equalling) that of the Sammy plasma. The contrast is much better than any LCD's we saw and to my eye the blacks are absolutely black. Such a noticeably better picture than LCD, plus a much larger screen, and for less money. I see a lot of criticism of its speakers but I don't think they're really any worse than almost any other TV, LCD or plasma, at almost any price point. Almost daily we marvel at the picture quality and comment that it's like sitting alone in a theater (no one talking, no cell phones, no babies, no sticky floors) in the best seats in the house. And buying from Amazon.com made the purchase even better and the best value - THANK YOU AMAZON!

Great HDTV
I searched and read reviews for weeks. I finally decided to get a 47" LCD until i was in best buy one day and saw the quality of this HDTV. I immidiately came home and searched and bamb amazon had it for almost 100$ less than best buy. It arrived 2 days earlier than it was supposed to and i can not be more happy with the purchase. This is a great large HDTV.
The features are good and i really like the UI for the menu's.
the quality is second to none that i've seen (other than those really nice LED's) for the price. man you can not beat it.

wow
had this for 2 months. GREAT TV. I'm blown away. We upgraded from a 50 inch DLP projection that was about 5 years old. The picture difference is night and day. Refresh rate, clarity, black level and overall vibrancy are off the chart. I'm a graphics guy by trade so I know what to look for. This is by far one of the best deals out for the $$.
This unit is HEAVY and was delivered by special scheduled freight. If you're going to wall mount it make SURE it's firmly mounted to studs. We just use the stand mount.
Ample connections on back. We have 2 component, a composite and 2 HDMI hooked up and still only use about 1/2 the connections.

samsung pn50b550
I've owned this tv set for more than a month now. I bought it after extensive research and I am completely satisfied with this product. Initially I was concerned with the burnt-in images and with the power consumption. Energy wise, I have to say it is even better than my old TV (a 2005 Samsung) with the same usage so, don't worry about you electrical bill. The burnt-in pixels: I've read a lot of opinions and technical data and I took the chance. So far so good. The TV has an integrated maintenance software and I guess that if you do that maintenance you should be ok (there was a review about somebody actually trying to burn in some images and after 3 weeks of "still image" he was able to remove any Image retention marks by using the aforementioned software). Anyway, the TV has some picture settings that allow you to zoom in the image so you can avoid the black bars on the sides of the screen (for those channels that do not broadcast in 16:9 ratio). Quality wise: EXCELLENT (COLORS, CONTRAST, REFRESH RATE). You may want to consider getting a wall-mount for this TV (it is pretty big and heavy and the included stand does a relatively good job but if you have kids, pets or you are just clumsy....). The wall mounts are fairly cheap (around $25 on Ebay) Another thought: If you buy one, consider getting the HD package for you local cable company. Without it, the image quality is going to be very low (so add another $10 to your monthly expenses) I hope this has been helpful.

Step up to the power of Full HD on a 37-inch LCD screen, with Samsung¿s LN37B550. The amazing 1080p resolution, the highest available, with Wide Color Enhancer renders the most crisp vivid tones, in every frame for the most realistic picture quality. Black tones and shadows are strikingly superb, thanks to the 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The attractive Touch of Color design, a red accent at the bezel¿s edge, lights up any room. A fast 6ms response time offers smooth, clear action. Watch or listen to files from your favorite media player, using the USB 2.0 input. Connecting your DVD, cable or satellite HD box, or Blu-ray Disc player is a snap, with four HDMI inputs. And thanks to SRS TruSurround HD technology, all the HD excitement sounds as incredible as it looks.

Excellent Picture Quality - Tiny Volume
Like many others we settled for this 37" TV because of the fixed size of a expensive TV cabinet. I am replacing a SONY anlog TV, i am very happy with my Sony, which i had for 15 years. Unfortunately, Sony does not make 37" LCD's anymore :-( Sadly, i had to look out for other brands. We compared Panasonic LC37-G1, LG 37LH30 and with Samsung LN37B530. We eliminated Panasonic as it did not have analog audio output, LG did not have good reviews and Samsung LN-37B530 has only 1 component input (needed 2, 1 for wii and one for DVD player). This Samsung LN37B550 has what i need except 120Hz which costs additonal $300. When i compared this Samsung37B550(60Hz) and Samsung37B630(120Hz)at Best Buy i could not really tell much difference in picture quality that would merit spending another $300.
PRO's: Amazon service was Excellent. We were promised delivery in 5 or 6 days, we got it delivered the next day of my ordering as we live closer to Amazon's ware house. Setting up this TV is easy, could be done in 30 minutes or less. Picture quality is very good for HD channels, but not very good for traditional channels.
CON's: TOC (Touch Of Color) is a marketing ploy, please do not fall for it. I could not make out the red color during day or night. I had to look for it consciously. Also, the volume, power and channel buttons in the front bezel of the TV are practically unusable because they are touch sensitive ones on the bezel. The markings on it are not very clearly visible, much less distinguish between them, you just have to guess where they are. I had to always use the remote. So, do not loose your remote. Sound is too tiny out of the speakers, as i do not want to listen through my AV system all the time. Compared to my SONY this SAMSUNG sounds awfully too tiny. Think twice before buying if you do not have or do not plan to use a AV system with this TV.

Exactly what I was looking for
The unit itself is very sturdy and the swivel works very well. Image quality is great considering the multitude of options you can tweak. I use it a lot for my xbox 360 and being able to change motion blur sensitivity (game mode on or off), brightness, and backlight levels is great. Connectivity is no problem considering the amount of hooks up on the back and the side. GET this tv if you don't want to spend a lot, but get a lot.

A touch of what?
LN37B550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color...As far as this "Touch of Color" ploy is all about, my set must have received just a mere hint of color from a dry brush as you must actually scan and look for the red color even during daylight hours. In any event, this touch, or lack of red color, doesn't really do anything for the TV at all.
Now, as for the TV, I've had it up and running now for just a few weeks and I like it quite a bit. Like so many others, I have a rather large (too costly to discard) entertainment wall unit that I purchased around 10 years ago that has become the centerpiece of my living room. It was designed with the traditional "square" hole opening for a TV that will accommodate a standard 32-inch "tube style / square" TV so getting a BIG/JUMBO set became somewhat of an issue. Fortunately the wall unit has a bit of a ledge right in front of the TV opening so I was able to get a 37" LCD and place it there. As a precaution I used some very small bungee cords in the back to keep it secure.
All in all, the set works very well (great picture) but the sound quality is a bit mild. The sound is not bad mind you for regular viewing but I will undoubtedly get some kind of sound system to enhance the sound quality for movies and such.
Great value!

Not good for computer usage
One of the most important things for a TV to me is to actually show what is fed in. I bought one of these and ended up returning it because there is no way to turn all of the processing off. I ended up with sharpening artifacts around text, etc. REALLY don't buy this if you plan to hook a computer up to it. I wouldn't recommend for blu ray either unless you really want everything to get artifically sharpened.
Westinghouse (aren't made anymore) is the best choice for computer usage (use one of these at work), and Toshiba is what I ended up buying for home after returning one of these. Both of these sets are able to turn off all image processing.

Great TV at a great price
I got this television yesterday afternoon and had it hooked up to a blue-ray and Xbox 360 within an hour. The picture quality is absolutely amazing! The red TOC - though not great for everyone fits perfect in my room. The picture while watching SD channels is garbage, but any kind of digital or HD channel the picture is perfect. I noticed a few artifacts while watching an HD movie on a fast moving scene, but it was brief and did not distract. I have not hooked up the internet with the set as of right now, but look forward to doing so soon. The sound is perfect for my room.
In all, I am very happy with my purchase of the TV.

I have not had this tv a year and I just entered the second repair ticket. I have had the horizontal lines now i have the vertical bar code issue. After the first repair the technician replaced every internal component. So this second issue is basically on a new tv. I'm not sure i"ll be buying another Samsung.

Great Tv
Considering that I am what most people would consider to be a tight wad, it took a considerable effort for me to spend $1300 on a TV. After living with an 18" TV for 11 years, about 2 of which half the time I had to unplug it because it would not turn off, I decided it was time to get a new TV. I began by looking for used ones on Craigslist but finaly decided to bite the bullet and get a new one. I spent months comparing reviews online and comparing in stores. I had it narrowed to the Vizio SV471XVT, mainly because it seemed like a lot of bang for the buck, the Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 and this of Samsung LN46B650. I had pretty much decided on the Vizio but, if I was going to spend around $1000 on anything, I wanted to see one in person. This turned out to be a futile effort. I found lesser and smaller models at Wal Mart and Costco, but not this one. This made me begin to look at spending the extra money for the Samsung or the Sony. Again I spent hours staring at these Tv's in Best Buy, Sears, and Fry's. Even though the sales people were all pretty much in agreement that the Sony had a clearer picture, I fell in love with the picture on this TV. It is simply fantastic. I do believe that part of the great picture comes from the glossy screen, so this should be kept in mind when looking at this TV. I ended up putting good quality curtains in my living room to fight reflection. It is still worth it. The picture is that good. I also like the fact that the set up of all the settings, there are many, is fairly intuitive and I was able to figure it all out in an afternon. I realy like all of the customizable settings. If there is anything that I could say that could be improved on this TV, it is the automatic volume control that is supposed to level the volume of comercials. I have found that, with this feature turned on, movies or shows that have a wide range of volume levels from action to dialogue, it tries to level it out and it can be a bit annoying. My only other thought is that the inputs on the back of the TV and the power cord should be on the same side. This would make hiding the cables when it is wall mounted a bit easier.I also decided to spend the money on the Monster Home Theater PowerCenter(tm) HTS 1000 MKIII with Clean Power(tm) Stage 2 that has line conditioning. I actualy got this before my TV was delivered and noticed a better quality picture even on my old TV. And besides, if I was spending $1300 on a TV, spending $100 to protect it seemed very reasonable.

Amazon...you're the BEST!
I bought the Samsung LN46B550 originally and I was happy with it until I discovered the "60hz vs 120hz" difference. The B550 was only 60hz and I found out the higher model B650 is at 120hz. Wow, big picture quality difference!!! So I called Amazon customer service to return the B550 for the B650. The service was amazing. After one week, they picked up the LN46B550 and delivered the LN46B650 the same day. They refunded my original tv purchase within 2 weeks.
See this is one of many reasons why I buy everything through AMAZON. Returning an item w/ no problem - 5 stars!!!

Great set, great price!
This is my first HD TV, so my impressions might be skewed, but I just love this TV. I did a lot of research on different TVs, and have always loved Samsung. I was looking at LCD sets until I saw this in person at Best Buy, and when the price here at Amazon dropped to just a couple hundred above my preset limit of $1,000 (at the time of purchase!) I decided it was worth the extra cash. Easy to set up, and picture quality is outstanding.

Amazing picture, great television
This television is amazing. I don't care that the sound isn't that great because I have a surround sound system...most people should when investing in a nice television. The picture is difficult to beat. The complaints of the poor picture from side views are completely false. THere are always going to be a few bad apples in a review of a product because people will always find something to complain about, either that or they got a damaged TV. Picture looks as good from the far angles as it does in the center. There are many nice features such as the mp3 input and ethernet capabilities. This TV is a nice purchase!

I just go my new Samsung UN40B6000 & absolutely love it. Easy to set up & has a beautiful picture. I love the energy saving aspect as I am an environment friendly gal. The sound is great too. My hearing isn't what is used to be & have been pricing out Bose 3-2-1 system because I don't want to run a bunch of wires around, but was amazed at the sound from the tv at a low volume. The Samsung warranty for additional 104.99 is a bargain too. I didn't buy mine throught Amazon (wish I did), but found it somewhere else for $200 cheaper. Didn't have free shipping though so actually saved $120. The other website (will not name) tried to push me on a 3 yr plan for $299. If you are someone who likes to insure your high end products (like me but I didn't pay $299) buy through Amazon & get the warranty.

It's a great TV.
I own 3 Samsung TV's and this is the only LED / LCD of the bunch. So, the question is, "Is it better than the other CCFL TV's?. Well, the answer is, "Yes, in almost every aspect." I also want to state that I like all of the TV's I have and they are all different. Keep in mind that there is no perfect TV, not even the top of the line plasma's.
These are the things that I like...
1. The black on this set is what I would consider "inky black". I have seen better, but not by much. With the lights in the room off, I can see that the black bars on wide screen pictures are not totally black, but almost. I'm not much of a fan of watching a TV in total darkness. In fact, I have a light mounted behind my wall mounted 52 inch that I use on a regular basis. Having some light in the room has two advantages. First, it makes the blacks seem a little darker and second, it reduces eye strain.
2. The contrast is better then my other two TV's by a wide margin. It makes the TV very 3D looking. There is a little crushing of black levels in some scenes, but that can be adjusted at the expense of the deepest blacks and contrast.
3. The color is phenomenal compared to the 52 inch which is about 3 years old. It is very vibrant and at the same time, more natural. Samsung claims that the color spectrum has been increased to about 97% of the available spectrum and I believe them. I can see many more color variations than I can on my big set.
4. The sound is very good for a TV. I didn't expect it to be that good. It is better than both of my other two TV's. I have a external surround system on my 52 inch because I can't stand the sound of it. This TV is much better.
5. Power usage is very low on this set. I have a Watts up? meter connected to the TV and the power varies between 60 watts to 97 watts. On average, it runs between 90 to 97 watts. Of course, you can increase the back light which will increase the power usage to about 135 watts, but that is not necessary, even in a very brightly lit room.
6. The bottom line is that this TV has the best picture I have seen in my home. Sometimes I say to myself, "WOW!". It's that good.
These are the things I don't like...
1. Like other posters have mentioned, some shows seem like you are watching a stage play or a soap instead of a finished movie. If you've ever watched a movie in the making, you will understand what I am saying. It's not always that way though. Blue Ray seems much better in this regard. It also seems to be somewhat related to the amount of 3D image presented. I think what we're seeing is a closer representation to to the recording process and we're not used to it. Oh well, it's not a deal breaker and it only happens on some shows.
2. As for off angle viewing, there is a difference. There seems to be a slight lose of contrast when viewing off angle. I has the effect of lessing the effect of black crushing so in a way, It could e considered a benefit. It is a very minor issue.
The bottom line is that the picture is exceptional.
Also...
From what I've seen in the stores, most plasma's looked washed out in comparison to LCD's, except for perhaps the top of the line Pioneer plasma's. Plasma's also have very serious problems with burn in, even though they deny it. You have to be very careful with plasma, even to the extent of not watching too many shows in a row that have black bars.Keep in mind that even LCD's can have stuck pixels if you leave a static picture on it too long. At least, that's what the instructions say. My LCD computer monitors don't seem to have any problem with it, so I'm not sure this is really a problem. In the end, LED/LCD is a great compromise between the best plasma's and LCD. I think one of the best things is that I can watch this TV for about 4 hours using the same amount of power that my 55 inch with surround system uses in about 1 hour. At my present usage, this TV costs me about $1.40 per month to run and that is running 7 to 8 hours a day.
One more thing...
I adjusted the set using CNET settings and I had to change some of the settings because they do their adjustments in a totally dark room. Still, the picture is very good. I also noticed that there was some judder until I set the auto-motion to smooth. All of the judder went away, very smooth motion now. I have one little complaint about the settings that you find online and that is that they always set it for a totally dark room. I don't know many people who watch TV that way. In a lit room, it usually causes the picture to looked washed out. A few adjustments takes care of it.

Great Picture
Dilivery was on time and the driver helped take the TV upstairs. Comcast came and hooked up a HD DVR and the picture was great. He used a very large component cable. He said it would be as good as HDMI.
We noticed a buzz from behind the set that was intense at times depending on how dark the picture was. I ordered an HDMI cable from Amazon and hooked the set up with that. The buzz went away and I believe the picture looked a bit better. The sound seemed to improve also.
The set produces a great picture. We are very happy with our purchase.

Question : Any one buy the Samsung LCD tv with 120 mhz?
I'm looking to buy a LCD tv and have the Samsung 550 and 650 in mind. The biggest difference between the two that I can tell is that the 650 has 120 mhz and the 550 doesn't. I have read that the 120 mhz comes into play when watching fast action scenes or sports and prevents blurring. My question is, is it really with the extra money and will i notice the difference? Thanks!
Answer:
LCD technology produces two artifacts with on screen motion. 1) Motion Jitter - this is the most obnoxious of the LCD motion artifacts; it produces shaky, jittery trailing edges on moving objects. Best seen with scrolling credits at the end of a movie.2) Motion Blur - stretches the moving object out behind the image, best seen with high contrast between the moving object and the background.120 Hz does a good job with the removal of jitter. 120 Hz does a poor job on the removal of motion blur. In fact, the 120 Hz motion compensation co-processors do not have the processing power to complete their calculations under all live sporting event and movie scenes. They can and often do produce their own artifacts called halo (incomplete background processing) on the trailing side of moving objects. I find halo artifacts to be as obnoxious as jitter and recommend that you turn 120 Hz OFF during a movie, therefore, 120 Hz will be of some limited benefit during sports programs and gaming. Is this feature worth the price and complexity? That is subjective and a decision that only you can make. Come into my shop in Crystal Lake, Il. and I would be more than happy to show you a demonstration of jitter, blur and 120 Hz operation and then you could make-up your own mind as to the effectiveness of 120 Hz. Most of my customers are shocked when they see the truth!

Question : how do i set non cable channels on my samsung lcd tv?
im trying to set the channels on my new Samsung 32" Lcd 720p Hdtv and i do not have cable. I keep getting weak or no signal.
Answer:
Get an antenna, connect it to your tv, run the over the air channel scan as outlined in your owner's manual. If you still can't get a signal, you can try moving the antenna closer to a window, and then try an antenna with a signal booster, if all that fails, an outdoor antenna could work. Or you may be too far from any broadcast towers to pick up over the air signals and will need cable.

Question : Why is my samsung lcd tv screen black when connected to my toshiba laptop using a vga cable?
i tried trouble shooting already. changing resolutions and doing what the computer tells me to do but absolutely nothing is going on screen. it works with the s cable but the picture is lousy. i thought using the vga cable would give a better picture just like it does on the laptops lcd. the laptop is 2 years old but the tv is brand new. could there be compatibility issues? please help!
Answer:
Usually on laptops there are 'function keys'. One of these combination function keys is used to choose the output display. Since the function keys are different on different laptops, I can't tell you where yours is. And by the way, you won't get the same picture quality on your TV as you would from a monitor. This is because your TV isn't capable of displaying the resolutions outputted by computers. This is why computer monitors are more expensive than a TV of the same size.

Question : What should I do with my 32 inch Samsung LCD TV box?
Should I just put it out with the trash? What if one of the neighbors sees the box and thinks it is a nice TV and decides to break into all the apartments one by one until he finds it and steals it. Or am I being too paranoid?Should I take the box off and dispose of it myself? Should I sneak it out in the middle of the night so nobody sees me? What should I do?
Answer:
If you live in a bad part of town... You have the right idea! I suggest folding it down carefully, cutting it up into squares, and just throwing it out. Or, if there's a dumpster nearby, like behind a store, just chuck it in there.

Question : how do i connect some kef floor standing speakers to my samsung LCD TV?
i have kef speakers and whant to put them to my tv. but do i need an amp and how do i connect the amp to my tv?
Answer:
you will need a amp/receiver the Sony STRDG510 is a good choice at £199.99 at richer sounds if you can afford it go for the onkyo tx sr605 at £399.99 both have hdmi inputs and outyou better off getting a good amp/receiver to make use of the kef floor standing speaker to its full potential. I have the Kef Q7 floorstanding connected to the onkyo 605 and they sound superb.as for hdmi connect 1 from your dvd/blu ray player to the receiver then hdmi out to your tv.some amp/receivers will need the hdmi and optical cable to get picture and sound. The onkyo do both from the hdmi. Also banana plugs to attach the speaker cables to your receiver. Cost about £5.00 a pair or go to ebay you will get some good ones on there 10 plugs for less than £7Good luck with your choicewww.richersounds.co.uk
