NIce Tv, delivery slow
If you must pay a bit more and have UPS ship it, I would highly recommend doing that. The money you save is not worth the hassle that this shipper caused me. This TV is stunning. It has a great picture and look to the screen quality. The ToC gives a nice asthetic feel to it and I love how my PS3 games and Blu-ray movies appear on the television. I definitely recommend the TV to anyone looking for a nice, relatively large flat screen for a reasonable price. However, if the shipper is Pilot Air or through this sight specifically, I DO NOT recommend ordering it. Granted, I ordered the TV in the winter time and live in the Midwest. I was expecting it to be delayed, as the many blizzards that rip through this area during this time of the year. What I was not expecting was making all the calls I did just to track my TV down!! Let alone, I find out it had been deferred several times to other locations all over and around the city I live in. My town is not that small (around 90,000 people) and shipping shouldn't have been as frustrating as it was. And after all my aggravations, I did receive my television, perfectly in-tact... just 2 weeks later than I anticipated.

i have a problem buying ANYTHING from 6th ave after my last experience ...
i bought a TV from them and received it fully packaged and not working sending the tv back was an issue for me as i do not live in the us so i decided to try to fix it on my own as 6th ave offered no help they told me tvs this size have to be dealt with the manufacturer.. upon taking the tv to be fixed we realized the inside of the tv had been through war as if they sold me a used or "refurbished" tv .... never the less i will never support this website again... thats my experience with them ... ive bought several things from amazon and anytime there is a problem they would see to it immediately thank you for that amazon but 6th ave ... POOR POOR POOR ....

very nice image quality
This was really easy to set up after reading a few pages of instruction takes away any problems you might have and the buttons are located in much the same place as any other controller I have ever used. The picture is sharp. The screen is large but not so big as to seem too hard to deal with. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the set. I received the TV on the day promised. The shipper was willing to unpack and set it up, however, I elected to do that myself. It was actually very easy. Basically, plug it in, attach the cable, and sit back and watch. The controls on the remote were intuitive. The concern about the white buttons is not really a concern.

Samsung poor quality
I would have never thought that Samsung would have issues. My 46" LN46A550 just got repaired. It is 20 months old. Samsung was/is using lower voltage capacitors than is required on their boards. Mine had 10 volt ones in a 12 volt spot. Samsung has a list of all of the model numbers with this issue. The repair man came over and wanted to flip my TV on the screen face down on my couch. My wife was home and asked him what he was doing. He said that it was safe because it was a leather couch. My wife insisted that he wait until she put a blanket down. He seemed annoyed. Samsung has poor quality control lately but they did honor this problem. It is a one time fix. If it were something else broken, they would have charged me hundreds of dollars to fix it. At a minimum, you would have to pay for the diagnostic on it even if the repair was too much for your pocket.

The best monitor I've ever used
I bought this monitor a year ago to help with my research. As a grad student, at any one time I can have open a paper I'm writing, an important journal or article, maybe a program I've written and perhaps a web browser. With the size of this screen I can have almost everything up at once and not have to minimize anything! It works so well with the windows 7 snap feature. When I have a report I'm writing and a paper I'm citing, I can just snap one to the left and the other to the right. Instantly I can see the size of the entire page on both sides and comfortably write my paper.
Movies, text... pretty much everything looks fantastic on the monitor. I have an hdmi input from my computer and I'm going with the coax for the tv. If anybody needs to know, this worked instantly with Fedora. I've had no problems on the linux side.
The monitor is not perfect though. I do notice there is a color shift as far as brightness is concerned. If you move your head down you'll notice it get darker and lighter if you move your head up. This doesn't bother me because I always sit in the same location, but I could see how this would be a problem for somebody else. The speakers aren't particularly great, but come on... what were you expecting? I rarely watch tv on the monitor... but when I have, I've had no problem with audio quality. The only real problem I have with this? The power button! I've had it for a year and I still don't turn it on every time that I try to. As many of the other reviews mention... there's no actual button to press. Just a sensor area. So you have to try to learn to put your finger on the right location. I quickly realized the easiest way to do this was just to swipe the bottom corner with my thumb and it turns on about 80% of the time.
The monitor it self looks great. I really like the glass edge and the curve on the bottom of the monitor. I always get compliments when people see the monitor for the first time. It's size certainly gives a nice wow factor. I was originally looking for a 30" monitor... but the price jump was just ridiculous. I'm extremely happy with this monitor.

Well worth it
I was looking for a display that would replace the Apple LED Cinema Display 24-Inch MB382LL/A I had at work. I wanted one with equivalent brightness (300cd), resolution (1920 X 1200) and good contrast. I also thought about doing an HDTV tuner as well, because the display will be in our office at home for a good portion of the day without my mac hooked to it (I work in the office but freelance at home). I was sold on the price which was about $500 less than the apple display.
I was a little nervous about the size though; though this display is the same resolution as the Cinema Display, it was 1.5 inches larger. Once I unpacked it and started using it, that was less of a problem. Especially in my particular setup... I use the display about a foot behind my laptop on a rack. And of course, when used as a TV, the size is not an issue.
Colors are great, though need some tweaking at first. Brightness is phenomenal and the picture seems clearer in terms of text rendering than my MacBook Pro's 17" HD display. So far, I am really liking this display. I haven't even started to think about using all the inputs, but there are plenty for whatever your setup may be.

Great television
We bought a refurbished unit from an Amazon competitor last December for considerably less than it is sold here. In any case, while the frame of the first unit arrived cracked, the manufacturer replaced it very promptly and we have been happily watching digital television on this unit ever since.
Our only issue is with the sound volume, which is sometimes too soft, even at 100%, when watching old movies on TCM. For the most part, however, that is not a problem.
As to others who complain about this unit, I cannot imagine why.
Even 30" and 32" screens cost a great deal more than this unit. We admittedly have never had one that large, but our old analog sets were never any larger than this one, either. We could not understand why anyone would spend so much more for a few inches more of TV screen, and we're perfectly happy that we didn't.
If you want a set that works fine with cable or antenna signals, this Samsung unit is terrific.

Great product
I brought this mainly for its 1200 vertical resolution, I just want to buy one before they were all replaced by the 1080 ones. I mainly use this for document viewing and programming purpose, with 1200 vertical resolution it's easier to view two pages of PDF documents at a time.
Overall this is just as good as other Samsung monitors, I use it to watch TV when not connected to my laptop as external monitor. This thing is especially good as a TV, but I do have an issue with it being used as a monitor: The VGA cable that came with it seems not very good, at least not working properly with my Thinkpad T60 laptop, there are always minor image distortions no matter how you adjust it. In contrast, my other VGA cable that came with an ACER monitor doesn't have this problem when I use it to connect my T60 and T260HD. But my final solution: brought a new laptop which came with HDMI port, that solved everything and now the picture is perfectly clear.
And I have to point out two errors in other reviews:
1, A reviewer said it's impossible to adjust brightness when digital connections were used, like DVI or HDMI, not true, you can adjust them in the menu when connect with DVI or HDMI and it's not difficult.
2, A reviewer said you can't adjust the TV picture to 16:9 (with black blank on top and bottom) and they always been stretched to fill the screen, what I found out with my comcast cable is that you can always adjust the display mode with a button on the remote. It do have different mode sets for digital and analog signals, but 16:9 is always available.
I will give it a 5 star simply because this is the best of the few 1920 by 1200 monitors left on the market, and the fact that I got it for only 330USD.

How to fix a scratch in the screen
Hi,
Just in case it's helpful to someone: I accidentally bumped this TV/monitor when I was moving it (my fault, careless) and I put about a 3" scratch in the screen, with a deeper divot at one end. My heart sank. I looked up fixes online and darned if there weren't quite a few ways to approach it. Here's what worked for me. Take a Q-tip or similar product, put some vaseline on the end of it, then slowly work the vaseline into the scratch lengthwise. Wipe off the excess. You may choose to do this several times, depending on how well the first patch works. My result is about a 90% improvement, and from normal viewing distance I can't see it if I try. Yay! The reason that this works, apparently, is that the thin plastic sheet that covers lcd screens has similar light-conducting (transferal?) properties to vaseline, since they're both petroleum by-products. Interesting. The bottom line is- it works! Good luck.
BTW, the only deductions I give this otherwise-excellent TV is for the sound. It's awful. I turned mine to the least tinny setting and it's tolerable, but I wouldn't plan on using it for any serious AV viewing. I bought a Logitech computer speaker system for $26, including subwoofer, and it's a big improvement over the default TV sound. It seems Samsung put all of their money into the video, and that's okay with me because it's a good looking TV.

Great TV
I saw this tv in a store lined up next to several others from across the room. In comparison, the un55b8000 had a clearer picture. After installling mine, I did see the cloudy lights in darker scenes, however, that was easily fixed with some fine tuning in the picture menu. I love this tv.

Amazing TV
I've been wanted to buy this new TV for over a year. Now that I have it (June 2010) I can't get enough of it. The clarity and color is staggering. At first my wife said it almost hurt her eyes as it was so clear. Now she's used to it and can't believe the picture quality either. This TV especially watching a Blu Ray movie is breath taking. I took it right out of the box and only changed one setting for the color to Dynamic instead of Standard. It did make a difference in picture quality otherwise I've done no tweaking. I can't imagine a better TV. I'm extremely happy with this purchase through Amazon.com.

a little disappointed
I purchased this tv after owning a Toshiba 46 inch DLP for almost 7 years.
The picture quality of the DLP was excellent; it had a very "theater like", somewhat grainy presentation that everyone enjoyed. It's killer problem, of course, was the lamp. They kept blowing, at $150 apiece, every year or two. I got very frustrated with that, and so did most manufacturers, who stopped making them. But as I say, great 720p experience.
So I thought I would get away from all that and go to a more mainstream, updated LCD experience with the LED Samsung. I read about "motion blur" and so went for the 240hz refresh rate, which videos said really corrected the problem.
But upon watching the tv, I experienced something I had not to that point read about, "Soap Opera Effect". It involves a technical discussion that I won't get into, but the result is that many programs and movies look as though they were shot with a camcorder or that the viewer is watching video tape, hence the "soap opera".
Everyone in my family noticed it. So I went back online and read what others had to say about this issue. To shapen the picture and reduce motion blur, the tv comes from the factory with a default setting called "auto motion plus 240Z" enabled. This setting is what people say causes the soap opera effect. The "fix" for the wierd viewing this causes is to turn that function completely off.
Well, not so great to have to disable a feature that supposedly made this tv a more worthy LCD. Then, if you watch a football game or "certain movies", you will need to reenable the setting to avoid blur. Great.
I guess I didn't do enough research. I trusted that a brand like Samsung would have technical stuff together. Had I known about this, I probably would have gone for plasma instead, which doesn't have this inherent problem. I stayed away from plasma because of its old burn in issues (which have mostly been solved) and because of reports of gradual fading of the picture. But that may have been a bad decision on my part. It is difficult to find a DLP below 60 inches these days. DLPs have solved the lamp problems by going to LED also, and DLP is a great picture, so I sort of wish I could go back to that.
Before I turned off "auto motion" my wife wanted to return the tv, but this is not easy since we bought it through Amazon instead of the local Best Buy. I will update my experience at a later date, as we have only had the set for about a week.
Anyway, this was/is a very expensive LCD/LED TV to have to watch programs rendered "soap opera" like. So I am a bit disappointed. This problem must apply to most if not all LCD technology, so lesson learned (too late)

I purchased UN55B8000 on Feb 14th, 2010 after my old Samsumg DLP HDTV stopped working after 5 years. The life of these HDTVs is lot shorter than that of old CRT TVs. Anyway, the picture quality is good, it depends on so many factors, whether it is 1080 or 720, compressed or uncompressed, TV channel, etc. I saw the best quality of picture while watch news (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc) over the antenna which transmits at 1080i, uncompressed. While watching Dish TVs 720p, compressed transmission, I could see the degradation of the picture quality. Sound is very bad, it hurs my ears, should definetly have external speakers. While watching dark scenes, you might see some light throwing off from sides, but it is not a deal breaker, never bothered me so far, it is minimal. Hooked up internet the very same day I purchased the TV, but didn't use it much since then, primary reason being the widgets are very slow, very bad user interface. The 240MHZ didn't help me much as I could still see blurry image for fast moving objects, I was told that it is not just sufficient for you HDTV to support 240 MHZ, even the transmission should be 240MHZ (even your HDMI cable should support it). When I visit my friends house and see their old HDTVs, I realize that my HDTV's picture quality is better than theirs.

GLAD I WAITED!!!
I am so glad i waited long enough to buy this TV. I have wanted to buy a Samsung TV since the series 6 Touch of red but kept pushing it forward as a new always came out just before i made up my mind. I finally bought 5 March, 2010 when the C series was released and the price crashed to $2096.98. I got the last one available on that day. The picture is so clear it hurts the eyes, takes some getting used to. The speakers are not the best, so one needs to buy external speakers to be able to really enjoy the sound, but picture wise it is spot on. Glad i waited!!!

I've had this tv for about a year and I couldn't be happier. This tv presents a better picture than any other tv I've seen with similar specs. It's hanging on my wall about 15 feet from the couches. There's no blur or judder, but I did have to tweak these settings a few times to get them right. I'll never buy anything but a Samsung again.

Bought this for $1700 and I have no complaints so far. I'm not a audio/visual guru but I love this TV.....Great for sports and movies...super clear. Not so great with scenes with a lot of black.
The delivery was great, they set it up and made sure it was working. I would definitely buy again.

Amazing TV
This, is what a TV should be.
Movies look great on it. Mario Kart looks great on it. Your favorite desktop pc screensaver will look great on it.
Seriously, run "flocks" or "electric sheep" on it. Or the winamp 3 visualizer. It will blow your mind.
I have it plugged into a real industrial grade surge protector, and have not had any problems with the power supply, or anything else. It can be slow to switch video sources, but its not that bad.
If I have to replace the power supply board, guess what? they are about $100, and likely a tad more interesting than replacing a hard drive. BFD. Older TV's were full of MUCH higher voltage circuitry. Your grandparents changed tubes in their TV's. Tubes! And every damn grocery store had a tube-tester. Get off your ass and fix something once in awhile instead of bitching.
Newer is not always better, some models go down in history with wide praise. Some go down as horrible examples of engineering. This will be one of those models to gain acclaim even years from now for being a solid panel.
Its worth owning, it worth having, its worth fixing.h
I got mine on a whorehouse deal, and damn, Im happy, and I got good one.

Samsung 46" 1080p LCD HDTV

An excellent find
Bought it open box "Like New" and it's perfect. Screen is beautiful - especially in HD. Would buy it again!

Great for the price
I have been looking to replace my Fujitsu 42" plasma that was 5 years old. Embarrassed to say what I paid, but this Samsung blows that one away. For $1k this is a great product. The unit gives a clear crisp picture. Built in speakers are plenty for the bedroom. if you would want in a theatre room, you need to add external speakers.
My only complaint is that it takes about 30 seconds for the picture to come on when you turn it on. Also when you turn it off there is a white lite which may be the lamp that you see before the screen goes black.
So far, so good. I hope to have this one longer than the plasma.

Excellent TV
I've had this TV for just under a week now and am very pleased with it. The picture is great. Set up and connections were easy and straight forward - it was up and running within 15 minutes. Easily connect to a Sony Blu-Ray player and older Sony Home Theater system. One note: if you use HDMI cable, some cable boxes require you go into thier settings and turn on the HDMI connection - otherwise you'll get a picture but no sound. Used Amazon's HDMI cables anb they work perfectly for a fraction of the cost. The Touch of Red is barely noticable. Pretty good non reflective screen that offers good viewing during the day - of course, it's amazing when it's dark. Reasonably good viewing angle for a LCD. The base seems pretty stable and is included.

Question : How much do I have to pay as custom to but a 32 samsung LCD TV from US?
I was wondering if anyone now how much I will be paying to custom if I buy a brand new samsung 32" LCD TV from US? ( price that I will buy is c700.
Answer:
You'll have to contact CRA to find the duty (if any). If it's built outside the US or Mexico, and it almost certainly is, you'll have to pay duty. You'll also pay GST and are responsible for PST (they don't usually collect that at the border, you are 'required' to submit it yourself in most cases). Of course, if you're from Quebec or (I think) NB, it will be collected as part of the harmonized sales tax along with GST.All those taxes are on the landed price, after duties, btw.

Question : What is the cheapest way to send my 40 inch Samsung LCD TV from New Zealand to India?
I am planning to send my 40 inch Samsung LCD TV from New Zealand to India. What is the cheapest way to send? and how much it can cost... its volume will be around 1058 x 240 x 672 mm? I don't mind if shipping takes some time I mean 10-15-20 days... but I want it at cheaper rate. Can anyone please help me?
Answer:
My husband just moved to Banagalore India for work and we went through this exact same process! After doing A LOT of looking around, we ended up going through FedEx but going via a freight broker - We used www.worldfreightbroker.com - their rates were less than half of those of going through FedEx or UPS directly yet we had the security of the FedEx reputation and insurance policies. Essentially freight brokers just have a massive freight shipping discount with the big freight companies due to bulk buying and resell the freight to you at a fraction of the cost you would pay if you went direct to the larger freight companies.

Question : Recording TV programs using Dell Desktop on a Samsung LCD TV?
I have a Samsung LCD TV and a Dell DesktopHow do I record Digital TV programs on to my hard disk? What do I need to achieve this? Can anyone add specific things I need for both the TV and the desktop. As the LCD TV has built in freeview and several HDMI ports.I am really confused. I dont need the tv tuner or anything? Which software can i use thats free?
Answer:
You'll need a TV tuner card (internal or USB). You'll be able to record OTA digital TV, or from a SAT or Cable box, but only in SD.UpdateIf your computer does not have a TV tuner (most don't), you'll have to add one. If you're interested in doing so (about $100), email me at jjki_11738 and I'll try to help you.
