4th HD TV ive owned...AMAZED AT PICTURE QUALITY!!

I have owned (or curenty own) 4 HD TVS this one replaced a 3500.00 60" Samsung DLP (got tired of replacing bulbs and the angle views suffer) This tv EXCEEDS ALL MY EXPECTATIONS!! Blu-ray looks AMAZING on here and the 120hrz and 4ms response time make fast motion in line with DLP...I viewed this tv at a retailer first...on one side was the sony bravia 46" and the other was a Samsung 50" plasma...im telling you this picture won me over!!! ( all 3 were in the 1700-2k price range...the free blu-ray was icing on the cake!!) I have tried to find even the slightest thing wrong with it but I cant!!! the ANTI GLARE SCREEN IS AMAZING too!!

Great Value For a 52" LCD!

I purchased this a few weeks ago when Amazon was offering the free Blu-Ray DVD player. The TV was just delivered yesterday. First appearances, the TV has a very clean, classic look with its piano black case and chrome/metallic accents. I'm giving it 4 out 5 stars because although the picture looks great when viewed directly from the front, the colors appear to be a little washed out when viewed from an angle > 45 degree. Having said that, this TV was a great value. I sold the Blu-Ray player, so my effective price for the TV was ~ $1,350. Not bad for a 52" 1080p 120Hz LCD. A comparable Samsung would have cost me at least $500 more.

nice lcd

This was a Christmas gift scheduled delivery by Christmas did not receive until 12/30/08 was disappointed. The tv was easy to set up with all other components. The color seems dark. I do not have hdmi cables which I am going try to see if picture improves. This tv stands up well to a bright lit room the picture stays bright. Over all I recommend this tv priced right and stylish.

Sharp does great!

I have the 64u version of this TV and it is fantastic, with incredible picture and features. I chose this because I think its an outstanding value. Sharp makes LCDs just as good as Sony or Samsung but at a much better value. No need to pay the other brands' premiums. Seek out this 'sleeper' brand if you want a top of the line performance at a great price!

Great vaue in LCD TV

This is my second Sharp LCD TV and I couldn't be happier as it is a bargain for the money. I looked at Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, etc. and decided against them based upon price/value for the Sony and Toshiba and the glossy reflective screen on the Samsung. The Sharp is easy to set up and use and the picture is great despite some mediocre professional reviews that mentioned a lack of contrast and overly bright picture. However, the professional purists refuse to use the features on TV's that are there to make them look better. Once Active Contrast is turned on the contrast improves tremendously and the overly bright picture goes away. Coupled with the use of Fine Motion Enhanced, the picture is absolutely outstanding. I don't believe that for the money you can get a better 52" LCD TV, especially if you don't want to spend a fortune on something that will be obsolete in a couple years anyway.

The picture compared favorably well when side by side to the Sony with the same specs at the store. I'm very happy with this. Football comes alive, and a hockey puck never gets blurry as some other sets do.

Purchase

I love this TV and Amazon was great. I ordered it late and knew it would not arrive by xmas. However, I got a call on 12/24 that they could deliver it. What a nice surprise. Easy to hook up, seems easy to work (and I'm no expert), beautiful pic, 120hz for sports viewing..........what's not to like. My father-in-law is an engineer as is my brother - both felt this was a top of the line Sharp as evidence by small ms number of 4. They told me to buy Sony, Samsung or Sharp. Samsung was out - being a woman I do not like the thick outer edge black plastic around them. The Sony Bravia is still too wide for my taste and cost more. The Sharp has the sleekest look, and this buy is great as it comes with Blue-ray player which I haven't figured out yet but will. Nice present for xmas and my husband's 50th. Thank you Amazaon!!

Wow what a panel

I am really impressed with this lcd! I heard Sharps can have banding issues. None with this panel and its color and picture is much more vivid than my other tv, a Panasonic Viera plasma (Panasonic is 720p). No problem with sports or action movies, either. I highly recommend this flat panel tv.

Sharp Aquos LC65D64U Incredible picture

I purchased this LCD to replace a Samsung 46" in our family room. The Samsung IS a great LCD but I wanted larger and to transfer the Samsung to the workout room. The Sharps' picture is incredible. The colors are so vibrant. The "white glove" delivery was excellent and faster than expected. Planet Earth BR is amazing on this LCD. There was a promotional free Sharp BR with this and both work great. Thank you AMAZON! I continue to be an extremely satisfied customer.

Got this as a present for Christmas. Wow! what a great present, even if it was from myself.... Delivery was on time and they helped my wife open the box to check for defects. TV looks great and works perfectly out of the box. Tweaked picture settings easily to my preference. I was a bit worried about a window and being able to see it in a reflection... nothing!! Combined with the PS3 as a blue-ray player or gaming console, the picture is nothing short of fabulous. No fumes that I noticed at all! I highly recommend this TV!!

Amazing product and service

I just recieved my 65" tv and I love it!! I researched big screens for almost a year before buying a sharp lcd. It was a great choice! The picture is wonderful and the size is theater like! I read several reveiws and people complained about delivery, dead pixels, and a smell coming from the tv. All I can say is I order on dec. 24th and was scheduled for delivery on the 6th of Jan. I recieved my tv early on the 30th of dec. The delivery guy was nice and unbox it for me and help set it on the stand. I hooked it up and the pic was amazing!!!! even just standard def was brilliant. and blu-ray oh baby! There were no dead pixels and no smell at all! if you want a big screen and can handle the price (I got mine around $2600.00) it is so worth it. you won't be disappointed. ps3 looks amazing too!

Excellent TV at a great price point

I purchased this at the sale price with the free blu ray player. The tv is simple to set up. I connected it to my Verizon Fios set op box using an HDMI cable. Once you've made setting adjustments, the picture on this set is beautiful. For me, I found that the backlight and brightness are by default a little low.

I rented a hidef on demand version of Kung Fu Panda via FIOS and it looked amazing.

Additionally using the hue adjustments on the advanced setup sections, I needed to adjust the colors so that the yellows would appear more yellow. Either way, you will be very satisfied with the picture quality.

I am using a Yamaha rx-v863 receiver for the surround sound, so I do not have an opinion on the audio.

The best choice for large screen -- compare to Panasonic P58

I first purchased a Panasonic Viera 58" Plasma from Amazon. Color and picture qualtiy were great, and sound was very good for a TV. However, the reflections were even worse than I expected. It was almost like looking in a mirror! I do business with Amazon because of the outstanding service and ability to return orders. I'll lose the shipping cost ($99) but that's OK.

The Aquos 65 requires a bit more adjusting on colors, but I'm completely satisfied with the results. Using basic adjustments got to good quality, and the advanced adjustments should be enough for anyone to reach just the right results. (Hue and Saturation for 6 colors can be adjusted)

Sound isn't quite as good, but reports that volume is too low should be ignored. Who wants theater level volume with just two small speakeres? That's asking too much, and for that experience get a surround sound system.

I saw reviews saying that SD broadcasts weren't very good. With a signal from DirecTV and sitting about 14-15 feet away, I disagree. The picture is surprisingly crisp, unless you stretch or zoom to full screen. In the proper aspect ratio, I have no complaints and really marvel at the quality they have gotten with only 480 lines spread over 32" vertical. That's .066" pixels or 15 lines per inch (if not up-converted, or converted with a really dumb algorithm) which would be fairly easy to see.

There were some negative reports on smell from the TV. Yes, it started out with some odor, but that either went away quickly or we got used to it. My wife is extremely sensitive to odors, and isn't complaining.

The best news is that the reflcection is no problem. With the TV off, it is possible to see a soft reflection of lamps and windows. But with a "normal" picture, it's hard to find the reflections.

The day after I ordered the TV the price dropped by $100 to $2917. I contacted customer service and asked whether I should cancel and reorder, or if they could adjust the price. I was told they don't have a 30 day price guarantee, but as a one time exception would give a refund. The only failure in the process is that the refund wasn't given. I contacted them by email yesterday, and quickly got a note saying that the refund would be made.

I am 100% satisfied both with the TV and with Amazon. If the TV doesn't show up as available from Amazon, just try again later. This one seems to come and go from their list, suggesting the demand is high but that they have a good supply scheduled.

So I got the T.V in 1 week, came from Nevada to Washington so i thought it was pretty good shipping. I immeaditly installed the t.v in my room and when I turned on the t.v i immeaditly noticed that the sound quality wasn't very good. At this point im confused because I thought sharp is the top leader in T.v's? I turned up the volume to its highest (60) and still wasn't good quality? what the heck dude? Either there is something wrong with mine or no one yet has pointed this out? I read the worst reviews and they didn't mention anything about sound quality Oh and the controller does feel cheap, i was a bit bummed :( ... Anyways that was probably the only fault i thought the t.v had. The picture is OUTSTANDING! Super slim! light weight! Super price! (when i bought it) so yep that is my review. If anyone could help me out with the audio problem that would be wonderful! I really don't want to buy a surround system this shouldn't even be a problem becuase my previous t/v ( 27" Panasonic) had a way better sound system preeeeeetay saaaaad if you ask me.

Excellent! But a few things to keep in mind ...

I bought this 37" Sharp Aquos LED HDTV as a Christmas present for my wife. She loves it! It replaces an older bedroom 36" SONY 'CRT' tube TV that required the figurative bulldozer to ever move the thing while this Sharp LED and at 37" can easily be moved and weighs in at about 45 pounds. The picture quality is excellent! Bright too. Colors are the best I've seen.

Since many reviewers have already commented on the TV's merits, I'll simply mention some things that were not in those reviews but which the buyer should keep in mind. First, the delivery itself, where Amazon [at least in my case] chose 'Pilot' as the shipping carrier and while I have no complaints whatsoever about the delivery, the buyer should note that they will be required to sign for this item and therefore someone should be home to sign the delivery papers. So too, Pilot attempts to call you to set up a delivery date so make sure you have your actual phone number on file with Amazon [and not a fax machine number] because first they call to assure someone will be home on 'their' scheduled delivery date and 'then' and only then do they [Pilot] set the delivery date. In short, the item is not just dropped off -- a delivery date is made by the carrier and someone must be there to sign for it. Fortunately, when I bought the set in December from Amazon, the delivery was free. That was approximately $36 saved right there! Although I had to pay state sales tax ever since June of 2008 when the State of New York essentially forced Amazon into the sales tax collection thing [via legal means]. As have some other states and my understanding is that this whole forcing of commercial entities who are 'not' located in the buyers state to collect state sales tax will be a matter for the courts to decide. In the meantime, NY [and some other states who have opted to go this route claiming that 'advertising' in a particular state is sufficient grounds to collect sales tax [!?] ] gets their sales tax! Shades of the internet tobacco sales issue with Native Americans and the various states wanting their cut of the pie, as it were.

Getting back to the TV and other than the excellent picture, I liked the idea that Sharp continued to have at least one RF input [you know, the older 75 Ohm screw-in cable also termed the "F Type connector"] so that until you get [** highly recommended] those HDMI cables or S-Video or 5 wire 'component' cables, there is still the RF input [labeled "ANT/CABLE"] which can be handy especially when the fancy and updated cables go in and, for whatever reason, you start to get zip for a picture with all those add-on gizmos [DVD's, VCR's, etc.] so that until you can figure out what goes where, the RF cable will at least provide you a picture until the HDMI cable(s) [or whatever updated video cables] begin to work for 'all' your TV video attachments.

One last comment and I'll gladly correct this if I'm in error, that 1080p high definition picture 'only' becomes available with an HDMI cable as I'm informed that if you use S-video or that 5 wire 'component' cable, the max you will get is 720p resolution. It's the HDMI cable [with the audio built in which is a plus] that provides the 1080p resolution. This too which bears repeating, remember that these newer sets have 'multiple' video sources so the old 'Channel 3' thing becomes irrelevant when you move to S-video, component or HDMI cables since you then use the remote control to essentially tell the TV where the video source is located via the remote control "INPUT" button press. How do I know that? Take a wild guess when S-video cable was the 'in' thing [before HDMI] and I'm sitting there with the TV set to 'channel 3' and I'm waiting for a picture and I get .. zip .. , a blank screen, but only because once I stopped using the older RF 75 Ohm screw-in cable and pulled it out [the satellite box to the back of the TV] in favor of the [then] updated S-video cable and, of course, a slot in the satellite box itself for S video, the 'channel 3' setting no longer applied as the trick was to use the remote and essentially direct the TV to the new [S-video] video source. Ditto using the 5 wire [on each end] 'component' cable or the latest HDMI cable. This new Sharp that I'm writing about has 'multiple' video input sources [including the one on the side of the set] and each video source [or added DVD machine, etc.] must be selected via the remote control "Input" button so that the TV can locate the input source signal!

Doc Tony

ADDENDUM! Your other TV's -- if you're still using the older RF cable [the 75 Ohm screw-in "F-type connector"] and your older TV has a slot in the back for "S-video" and prior to HDMI slots making their apearance since 2007, 'definitely' go for the S-video cable over the older RF or RCA 'composite' stuff. When I switched over to S-video on my older SONY and HITACHI big screen TV's which do not have HDMI slots the picture quality improved tremendously over the older RF or RCA 'composite' stuff! The previous 'graney' picture was eliminated completely with an S-video cable and the [generally and for a few bucks more] audio cables [two of them -- left and right -- color coded red and white] 'attached' to the S-video cable itself. So too, I personally found no discernible difference, picture quality wise, between S-video and 'component' cable [5 wire, you know, that Y-Pr-Pb stuff + 2 more audio cables, total 5 wires] although I found the HDMI cable, now in vogue, to be the best of all as in the case of this new Sharp which [on the 37" model] has -two- HDMI cable slots. The write-up talks of '3' HDMI slots but that's perhaps for the even bigger Sharp models. This 37" Sharp has 'two' HDMI slots, not three. That slot on the 'side' on the TV, under the component plugs, is not a 3rd HDMI slot, it's a service terminal! Take a look!

Now, if I had only predicted in 2008 that the Blu-Ray system HD players would be the winner over the HD-DVD format players, I'd be thrilled!

HDTV picture OK, but purchased based on inaccurate description

I purchased this TV for an exercise area in the basement. I have some ceiling mounted amplified speakers over the treadmill that ran into the headphone jack of the old TV, and was looking for a TV with a headphone jack that would allow me to keep this configuration.

I compared the Sharp LC-37D64U against others in its class. I decided to pay a little more for the Sharp based on Amazon's description that it had DLNA and a headphone jack. With DNLA I could tap into programs and movies stored on my Mac. I discovered upon delivery that neither was available on this TV. I thought about returning it to Amazon immediately, but there is an audio out on the back of the TV that I can use for the external speakers and the reviews stated the picture quality was quite good. The lack of DLNA was very disappointing, as it was the feature that swung my decision to the Sharp.

To control the external speaker volume through the the television's remote requires a change in the audio setup menu. The $35 PC speakers I'm using sound better than the speakers built into the Sharp. I'm not that impressed with the quality of the picture yet. In lower light, the display never achieves a decent black, so the picture looks a bit washed out. Fiddling with the brightness/contrast didn't improve the picture much. I'm sure I can get a better picture out of the Sharp once I spend more time on adjusting the controls. From the menu, there appears to be quite a number of settings I can adjust. Last, the display angle is unimpressive, but I mounted the TV on a ceiling mount that swivels, so this isn't really an issue for me.

Bottom line is that I'm keeping the TV, but I would have made a different choice if the description had been accurate.

Sharp Aquos is a great choice!

I essentially went with Sharp because of their known reputation of good customer service. I had to contact them on the first day (not because of the product) and the service was quick, efficient, and friendly! The TV is great, such a good deal for such a large TV!

Great Product for Price

This television picture is amazing. I had a 1080i rear projection TV before this one and the Sharp blows it out of the water. The picture is crisp and clear! Better yet, the bezel is very thin so that it fits in my TV cabinet which is less than 36" wide! The sound is not great, but with a little tweaking it sounds fine. I also have a Sony surround sound system for watching blu-ray movies. Great product and a great price!

65U is a downgrade from 64U?

Just want to warn you out there - the 65U is probably a downgrade from the 64U (instead of upgrade), as the 65U uses an 8-bit panel which seems to be inferior to the 10-bit panel used by the 64U.

2008 version of 64U

Check the reviews for the lc42d64u model. The "65u" is the fall 2008 version of it. I had to do a lot of research (hours) to figure this out. Even Sharp's website is still listing the 64u's at this time. Found this at productwiki.com

http://www.productwiki.com/sharp-aquos-d65u-series/

There have been over 60 5 start ratings on the 64u at amazon.com so I thought you might be interested in a little more feedback before making your purchase. Given the vast price difference, I figure it's just new and no one knows about it so this may be a get it while you can opportunity...

According to the site mentioned, the only difference is the energy star functionality, which can be turned off, according to the previous rater.

Very good price for a very good HDTV

I found this TV on sale locally for less than $900, and I can say it was a great buy. The automatic brightness adjustment can be annoying and give you degraded picture clarity, but you can turn it off or adjust it to suit. The sound is good, but not great. As for the quality of picture and the quality of the TV in general, I couldn't be happier. This TV is a great buy.

This is not the same as the LC42D64U.

If you check the specs on the Sharp web site, you will see that there are different specs relating to the 64U and 65U models. The 64U has a slightly better response time and backlight system.

Iv been trying to connect My HP laptop to my Sharp LCD tv, Can laptops not work? When i went into properties it let me extend my screen onto the sharp, so I could drag things over to the tv screen and then use them, but couldnt click on desktop items because they were on my main screen, The option to use the sharp as my primary monitor was faded out so i couldnt click it. My feeling is that because its a laptop i must not be able to connect it, If you have done this and could explain to me how i could possibly get this to work that would be great, Thanks!

Answer:
If you are using Intel vga right click on desktop go to to Graphics Options -> output - >monitor+lcd if you are using nVidia goto nVidia control panel.

Question : Sharp Aquos LCD TV: Can I do anything about the delay when switching channels?
I bought a Sharp LC-32D40U. When I switch channels it takes 2-3 seconds before the image appears. Quite annoying. Is there anything I can do about that? Are there any LCD TV's which have a better performance?

Answer:
Yeah alot of the newer TVs have Very sensitive tuners. So what happens is the TVs are thinking and deciding what format to display it best. Some TVs are better, such as the Sony Xbr series LCDs and also the new Samsung like the LNS3251D.

Question : Does anyone know how to do a "factory reset" on a Sharp Aquaos LCD TV?
Just curious. Is it hard to do? Do you have to take it to a dealer or is it something that someone who is slightly familiar with technical stuff can do?

Answer:
1. Press TV Guide and then press MENU2. Press up and down arrows and select 'go to service bar' in episodes options and press enter.3. press left and right arrows to select SETUP4.press down arrow to select 'change system settings and press ENTER to display the confirm your settings screen.5. If you want to change settings, choose NO and go through the settings again.6. Or leave it unplugged for a couple of days, and then plug it back in and start from scratch.

Question : Help me choose between an LG LCD TV and a Sharp LCD TV?
Which one is better? Both are 42'' and 1080p

Answer:
Sharp basically invented LCD TV's. LG is a relatively new brand. What you need to look at, spec wise, is the contrast ratio on the TV's (1200:1 or higher). You also need to check the response rates (6 ms or lower is great). The final thing you need to consider is the amount of high-def inputs included on the TV. Make sure there is at least 2 HDMI, preferably 3 and at least some sort of PC input. Other than that, I'd probably go for the cheaper TV. Both are top of the line brands but if price didn't matter I would go with the Sharp Aquos.

Question : How would you rate a 26 inch Samsung and Sharp LCD TV/PC Monitor?
I am thinking of buying one of these to use as a PC monitor and to watch tv. ratio is about 5000:1 on both models.Do you have any other suggestions?

Answer:
Samsung and Philips/Magnavox have the highest failure rates and no support and parts once out of warranty.Samsungs have poor picture and poor designed products.Sharp hase OK LCDs but poor support as well, alot of the Sharps have been having problems with their LCD Displays comming apart. The best LCDs are the Sony, good support and alot better quality than any. Followed by Toshiba.

Question : I need help deciding between an LG and Sharp LCD TV?
I am trying to suprise my husband for Christmas and don't know a lot about LCD tv's. I do know that 1080p is better than 720p. The picture on the Sharp looked better, but I'm not sure. I need some help deciding please. I found a Sharp Aquos 42'' 1080p for $1,200 from Sam's Club. Is that a good deal? Or should I go with the LG?Thanks for the help. I am so confused.

Answer:
Well, BOTH are good TV sets, but I think you already made the right choice.....The picture on the Sharp looked better....You said it yourself....That is a good Deal for $1200....All that for only $1200?I think I'd buy one....NOW....make SURE you have HD signal IN YOUR HOME by Christmas...IF you have to HIDE an HD box husband it would be worth it.It's Nice and Big and HEAVY when you wrap it in Christmas paper.....Unfortunately with most service providers , they have to change the Dish, and take the OLD black box and replace it with a Silver box....So your hubby would notice and you'd have to LIE....Lie like, they came out and replaced the box because our OLD box was outdated.....BUT THEN you have to deal with the UPGRADE costs that show up on the Dish/Direct TV/Cable bill....but that's next month.....ANYWAYS....get the Sharp, and call your Cable /Satellite provider TODAY to get your HD package started....If you have Verizon FIOS....get the HD turned on and the box scheduled....If you have DIRECT or DISH....get it scheduled for the extra Dish mounting and the Silver box....IF you have CABLE, just get the box swapped out and the HD turned on THIS WEEK.....GOT little KIDs??You WANT to buy a piece of LEXAN to make a screen to cover the LCD PANEL...use Velcro to attach it to the front of the new TV set....Little Kids have Destroyed the LCD panels by throwing stuff or beating on the TV panel....one girl took scissors to "cut out Barney" on the TV set....So Wall mounting it HIGH is another good idea, but PROTECTING THE LCD PANEL WITH LEXAN IS BETTER overall.....

Question : Sharp LCD TV for xbox 360?
I know the market is huge...which makes me feel totally clueless here. im wondering, is the Sharp brand good for a gaming TV? here is what i am considering, SHARP 46" LC-46SB54U LCD TV. any input would be great! thanks :)

Answer:
I love the Aquos brand so much that I got two of them. One's a 26" 720p which I used for gaming for several years until I got a 46" 1080p, which is what I'm currently using for games, TV, Blu-ray movies.
