WOW ! You Gotta see this one

I have now installed three LCD TV's in my house, and the 60" Sharp Aquos blows them away. This 60" is sharper than my 37" which was hard to believe. The colors are vibrant, just like they advertise. I had shopped for months looking for the right tv, and one day I saw the Sharp 60 inch amid a wall of 55 inchers, and it stood out so much better than the other brands, I bought it on the spot.
Before that I was waiting to see where the 3D sets were going, but after a couple of 3D demostrations, I said that's not for me. My eyes hurt after looking through those heavy awkward glasses. 3D is cute but not enough for the extra cost. I highly recommend this set. It has lots of pros, and no cons

Initial Impression on the Unit

After researching on the techinical spec, I choose this product based on the factors below 1. engineering design (4 colors) 2. advance technology (LCD backlite) 3. reviews from Amazon.com 4. price to performance ratio.

The product was delived by a very courteous carrier and help moved into my family room. It worked for 15 seconds then the video has gone blank and locked in a diagonostic mode.
From the very fine prints of the manual, I found the service number to call for help. The represensentative on the line responded very fast and was very courteous and helpful. The on-site service technician came within a week and fixed the faulty board. I gave the factory qulity 3-star for poor quality control. I gave the field service 5-star fro fast and courteous on-site service. The on-site service warranty is 15-months. Very good.

The picture quality is good and 7 inputs connections. But the audio output only has 2 options. 1. Simply stereo output with 1/8" pin, very flimsy and not practical. 2. Optical output that may not work with old amplifier. I am using blueray player to provide the sounds input.

The screen is very thin (less than 2") and looks very efficient. Built-in speakers are decent but nothing to brag about.

I use antenna to receive broadcast signal, the channels recognized are less than a 28" Sumsang TV that I have. A slight disappointment.

The picture quality is very good compared to other HDTV.

Overall, I rated this TV a 4-star.

A Diamond in the Rough!

PROS: Size (60"), 1.5 inches thick, Picture quality, Panel, Price, Value, Aquos Support, LED, Aquos Net
CONS: Screen uniformity (inherent in most edge lit LED models)
This Sharp LED television is an awesome set. This set has the Quattron technology which adds the color yellow to the RGB spectrum. I have noticed that the colors are sharper and more vibrant. Purists will tell you there is no advantage to adding an additional color to the RGB spectum. All I know is I can clearly see the advantages in overall skin tone color, background colors, and I even noticed more intense eye colors on actors! Something I never noticed before on my plasma or standard LCD. I previously owned the Samsung 55C7000 set, but was turned off by its screen uniformity issues and "flashlighting". This set does exhibit some screen uniformity issues, but none to the degree of the new Samsung edge lit model I previously owned.
I found these calibration settings on the 'net' and they really help dial in the Sharp's colors. I will share them here:
Backlight -2
Contrast +25
Brightness +1
Color +1
Tint -2
Sharpness 0
CMS Hue Keep at 0
CMS Saturation Keep at 0
CMS Value Keep at 0
Color Temp Low
R Gain (LO)+8
G Gain (LO)0
B Gain (LO)+25
R Gain (HI) +9
G Gain (HI)0
B Gain (HI) +17
Gamma -1
These settings are a great, and a little tweaking to your liking will have you viewing your Sharp in a whole new way!

BY THE WAY: The picture AMAZON is using to identify this set is incorrect. It looks exactly like the picture of the Sharp LC-60LE820UN on Amazon's page.

Great TV

I have had the Sharp 60 led model for about a month and my opinion is 'Wow". I decided to replace a 50" Panasonic plasma which had a great picture but I wanted something larger and really liked the led models. My initial selection was between Samsung and Sony but when I saw the Sharp picture, I just knew it was the right one. I used to consider Sharp a second tier TV but no longer.....beats the Panasonic plasma. The picture is famtastic and the audio is not bad but I use a separate sound system. I do think that the addition of yellow to the typical RGB pixels does add to the picture. Am very pleased with no complaints so far. Great TV for the price.

Sharp Aquos has amazing video quality

When viewing "side-by side" the Sharp versus other sets in an electronics store, the Aquos actually stood-out from the crowd for video quality. The high-end plasmas were very close, but there was something about the Sharp that set it apart. At home, while viewing satellite HD, old movies, even black & white, seemed like they were live broadcasts. This isn't just my impression, but those of most of my friends that viewed it as well. This set replaces a 4 year old Samsung DLP that should have lasted a lot longer than it did. Audio quality is mediocre, but what can you expect of speakers in a cabinet as narrow as this? A home theater sound system with this TV is a must. I also viewed the 240 Hz version of this set, but couldn't detect enough difference to warrant the extra expense. Bottom line is that this set gives superb video quality for a very reasonable price.

great picture, great value

I have owned this television for a month. It is excellent! The picture is clear and sharp - by far the best I have seen in this price range. The sound is more than sufficient for my viewing needs (I'm not a sound nut). I enjoy the ability to connect my router straight to the television so that I can receive high-quality Netflix using the software on the television. The remote is sufficient and controls Netflix fairly well.

From opening the box to sitting in my recliner watching a movie took about fifteen minutes.

Highly recommended.

Amazing Value

I purchased this unit on 5 June 2010 and after 7 days of viewing i have to admit that it has the best picture quality of all the LED's I've seen. I replaced a Vizio 46" FHDTV with this unit because the Vizio LCD panel failed after only 1yr 2 months of use. Entire lcd strings of vertical lines failed (20 plues), plus a dark comma-shaped smear appeared on half the screen. No more Vizio's for me. This set is a dream as far as we are concerned. It's like a theater film movie screen.... Just amazing!

Stunning

Just bought this tv after much research. Basically it came down to this and the Samsung 6300. The picture quality was close but the Sharp had the edge, along with the beautiful design and net streaming features it was a no brainer. After a week I must say I am still blown away by the picture. Hi def cable looks great as does the streamed movies from netflix. Dvd-awesome, blu ray--I can't imagine a better picture on any set. Sound is not bad but what do you expect from something under 2" in width. Aquos net is basically useless.

Incredible Picture

Love it, Love it, Love it.
The best picture I have ever seen on any TV that I have ever owned. This Sharp TV blows away my 52" SONY that is only a year old.
Only negatives - 1) some screen glare under certain lighting conditions 2) the polished "chrome" surround they can keep, adds to the glare problem 3) the sound quality is horrible - however most TVs that are this flat are the the same. It's a WOW TV. I look forward to watching this TV each and every time!

SHARP REALLY DELIVERS!

I just got this TV/DVD combo for my bedroom. The picture quality is excellent, as is ease of use and sound quality. I have a 40" Sony Bravia Z series and the picture on the Sharp is much brighter than on the Sony coming in on the same cable system. The TV is also easy to program and very light weight. So far, all dvd's I've played are great - (both picture and sound), which is one of the main reasons I chose this Sharp unit. An equivalent Sansui also had good reviews and pricing, but I was reluctant to buy a foreign brand with apparently very little, if any, support service. I don't know much about the technical aspects of TV's, but this one seems to have everything anyone would want in this size set, including use as a PC monitor. I haven't tried it with headphones yet, but plan to. One of the other reviewers panned this TV due to the time it takes to change channels, but I haven't found this to be a problem. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, delivery time was excellent and I feel the pricing was competitive. This is a great TV/DVD combo in 26" size! In fact, I almost wish I had bought a 40" Sharp instead of the really pricey 40" Sony Bravia!

Shadowed picture

This TV is mounted 6' off the floor in our bedroom. Unless you are looking at it straight on, the picture is shadowed resembling 35mm negatives. Have adjusted brightness and contrast with no positive result and the troubleshooting guide does not address this issue.

Great TV for small room

We received this TV as a gift and have just mounted it in the corner of our workout room using the Peerless PA740 Articulating Wall Mount for 22" to 40" Displays. The TV is mounted right in front of an exercise bike, and the 26" size is perfect for that location (we had considered the 22" size). The sound volume works for us, but my husband would prefer it to be louder if that were an option. The sound is loud enough to hear very well over the noise of an exercise bike when turned to maximum. I will need to see if there are separate speakers I can buy and mount on the tv somehow. There are audio outputs on the TV - digital coaxial and red and white rca. So far we have only used it for DVDs, and it works perfectly. The picture quality looks great even from side angles and from different heights (although the image dims when I look at it when sitting on the floor). We are very happy with the picture quality.

EDIT
We have hooked the TV to our cable line (directly, with no box), and are happy with how the TV works for watching cable. I don't notice slow channel changing.

I'm still trying to decide whether to add external speakers. I purchased an 2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch, plugged it into the RCA output on the TV, and attached it to some old computer speakers. That worked well, so I'm considering trying to buy some smaller computer speakers that I can somehow attach to the TV, which is wall mounted. Note that the speakers have to have their own power cord (some speakers out there attach via usb and no powercord, and that style would not work for this tv).

Sound quality sucks! Support sucks more!

I bought this set a year ago. I have little problem with the video quality, and it has more inputs than most folks will ever use. Only ONE output-digital (no earphone output, no standard analogue output so one could connect to an amplifier to make up for the fact that there is NO VOLUME in the audio). Wrote to the mfr four times, one response said "no, there is no other output available for your set." The end.

Normal broadcast channels can usually be heard, unless they are in HD, then the volume all but disappears, with the volume maxed out. It is a useful monitor, but I cannot even get it to link to my digital computer sound system without bunches of adapters, and then it is out of phase with the picture. Junk. Run!

Built to last as long as the warranty

I bought this television for my bedroom. It looked great out of the box and was easy to set up. Last week, a year and a half since I bought it the screen went white. I called Sharp and they said "sorry, it is out of warranty". I took it to a Sharp authorized repair shop and they diagnosed it as having bad Front Panel and not worth fixing! The parts and labor are more than the set. I have had a Sony Wega for 8 years and never had 5 minutes of trouble. How can a set last only a year and a half.....Oh, by the way, it is made in Thailand!DON'T BUY THIS TV!

LED-LCD is Great; Yellow pixel not so much

This is a review of the Sharp Aquos model LC-52LE810UN 52-inch 1080p 120Hz LED Edge-lit LCD HDTV. As a step up from the other Aquos models, I judge the yellow pixels to be less effective. It was harder to calibrate the images, and the factory color settings seemed off somehow. The contrast is excellent at 4 or 5 million to 1 (hard to pin down which as descriptions vary).

In the general class of 1080p resolution TV's at 52-inch, the Aquos models have excellent form factor. Those LED Edge lights are exquisitely thin and light. The satisfaction from the form factor alone justifies getting an LED Edge-lit Aquos. Sharp has good resolution with its LCD technology, but then resolution is hard to stand out in this class.

Weight wise, this TV is less than 70 lbs making it easy to install. Getting a 52 inch TV was a decision made easier with its lack of bulk. Even for my tiny den.

I got the TV while it's on promotion (3 left in stock), which allowed me to buy a higher end Aquos at about the same price as the next step down (about $50 more). Now that I have it, I recommend people to get the next step down unless you find a deal that puts the two models on equal footing. Sharp has done well with its Aquos line of HDTV so much so that it's hard to justify getting top of the line, ironically.

Gorgeous TV, just needs tweaking

Just bought this TV about a week ago. Am still absolutely floored by the picture quality, clarity, and the crisp colors. As written in previous reviews, first thing that needs to be done is TURN THE FILM MODE OFF. First movie we watched was Avatar, and yes, even with Film Mode on, the movie looked jaw-droppingly good. But the longer you sat and watched, the more you realize that Film Mode gives it a "soap opera" look. That's the best I can describe it, you will have to see to understand. My eyes were becoming fatigued because everything was SO crisp and detailed, and so clean, it looked fake. Turning it off alleviated all the problems.
Even in "The Blind Side", I popped film mode back on and couldnt take it for a second. My guess is Film Mode is for upscaling Standard Def DVDs, for with BluRay it is just TOO much.
In terms of overall picture quality, as expected, right out of the box some additional tweaking had to be done. I have everything almost perfect, and again, I couldn't be happier. I did get a great deal on Geek Squad Calibration, and that will take place after 100 hrs get put on the TV. From everything I've heard, for a TV of this quality, professional calibration is worth every penney. Looking forward to it.

Amazing!

I waited, debated, compared, read reviews, etc, etc, before buying this TV. I set it up, plugged it in, and all I can say is that it is unbelievable. At first I just had standard def, and I thought that that was great. I just upgraded to DirectTV HD, and now the picture is so vivid, it feels as if the actors are right in the room. Actually for news and sitcoms, I prefer standard def. Sports and movies are just perfect - if anything is more realistic than this TV, I doubt if I would want it in my house. The comments made concerning the Film Mode are true - turn it off, it makes everything look like a soap opera. I haven't gotten into doing much adjustment yet, so I can't comment on that. I do wish I had gotten the 46" rather than the 52", even in a big room, everything is perfectly clear.

WOW

I did a ton of research on all the reviews for this and other TV's, which focused on the expert sites like AVS Forum. After all the research, I was actually a little hesitant on this purchase with the 'Yellow' being possibly a little bit of a marketing gimmick. However the plunge was made and 'WOW' at times it feels like a 3D TV and my wife still is amazed and she doesn't get into technology. I would give this TV a Solid A+.

Questions & Answers
Question : Sharp Aquos LCD TV: Can I do anything about the delay when switching channels?
I bought a Sharp LC-32D40U. When I switch channels it takes 2-3 seconds before the image appears. Quite annoying. Is there anything I can do about that? Are there any LCD TV's which have a better performance?

Answer:
Yeah alot of the newer TVs have Very sensitive tuners. So what happens is the TVs are thinking and deciding what format to display it best. Some TVs are better, such as the Sony Xbr series LCDs and also the new Samsung like the LNS3251D.

Question : Any idea how much cost to fix vertical line on Sharp Aquos LCD tv's?
My Sharp TV 52D62U has one vertical line dead, it can not display right color and looks like one of RGB channel in this line is dead.Since its warranty was expired, I would like to know how much cost to fix this problem?Thank you for answer in advance!

Answer:
The last time I saw this on a 46 Aquos screen it required a new LCD display panel and the cost was nearly the cost of a new HDTV of the same size.

Question : Will someone help me hook my PC up to my Sharp LCD tv?
I bought a vga to s-video cable on Amazon and also an extension wire.Whenever I hook them up I can only see black and white streaks on the TV,and when I move the mouse a small line moves.(LC-20AV7U)is the tv's code. Please Help!!!

Answer:
After you have the cables hooked up properly, you need to go into your display settings and see if you need to change settings there. When I hook my laptop up to my tv I have to go to my display settings and change a few things. I don't know your settings because all video cards and tv's are different. Just right click on your desktop and go to properties then display settings. Im sure you will find what you need to do there. Hope this helps

Question : How do i add a digital antenna to a 46 inch sharp lcd tv?
How do i add a digital antenna to a 46 inch sharp lcd tv?

Answer:
(This answer assumes you are located in North America)You connect it just like a old analog antenna. That's because all TV antennas are digital antennas. On most DTVs there is only one antenna input for both analog and digital broadcasts. The idea that there are special "digital antennas" is just marketing BS.You just connect the antenna and go into the DTV's menu and have it scan for digital antenna channels. (Note: You have to have the DTV scan for digital channels, it probably will not find them automatically like it does analog channels.)

Weather channel, Fox, Inspiration channel and C-span. It is hooked up to cable tv line. I appreciate all help given.....

Like I turn it on and it stays on for. Like 10 seconds and then the oil light starts blinkin what's wrong is it messed up already? Help I don't want to buy another tv grrrr

Answer:
If you have it less than a year, it is covered by warranty.Try to unplug it from the wall. wait 30 sec, plug it back. If the light still blinks, call service.

Question : Do you see different brightness bands on your Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
I am reading reports of "banding" on Sharp Aquos LCD TVs. I want to know if any of you noticed it on your TV.

Answer:
Many people have found "banding" on Sharp Aquos TVs. It has been a topic of discussion on the AVS forum for some time, but it has died down. Apparently some sets are ok, but many are not. If you can look at the TV before it is delivered, you can check for banding by looking at picture with large uniform areas of a light blue color. If you can see it, ask for another set. If you can get a set without banding, reports are that this set has the best HD picture around.Seehttp://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10506896#post10506896andhttp://www.avsforu m.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10400759#post10400759Don't try to read all, but scan through some of the later comments to see what some people have found.

Question : Sharp LCD tv full screen?
Added a dvr to my Sharp tv and all channels are HD format. 3 in. black screen on both sides. Time Warner says the dvr box is not to blame, view mode on tv remote has 4 options, all with small picture. How can i get full screen on non HD channels?
