Sharp Is the Only Brand I would ever own!

I bought this TV last year in June (2008) and have had it ever sense. The LCD Image is always very clear and vibrant, as the black is true black. The way the screen can be customized on your own or preselected Defaults for Games, Movie, ect. I love the expandability with Component, VGA, HDMI inputs that are available allowing me to connect my DVD Recorder, Cable DVR, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii with easy selection and great picture.
I understand this isn't fancy 1080p as I have no interest in paying the top dollar for the best picture as I found I have a life away from my TV,besides I'm sure all those plasma freaks are kicking themselves with the New LCD TV's lol.
If your looking for a good deal on a good TV that will last you a long time no need to look elsewhere, I have always had sharp TV's and not one has ever had any troubles and I will continue to purchase them.

Pros: Sleek Design, Easy To use menu structure, Bright vibrant colors, lots of inputs for nearly everything.

Cons: Speakers aren't the best but I have a Bose surround so it doesn't really matter :/ (Then again what TV can you truly remember having all that great of speakers? If there were more than a few We wouldn't have such a market for the surround sound systems)

Screen refuses to turn on

I bought this tv only a few months ago and already I am experiencing the problems others have talked about in their reviews. Every so often the tv turns off...or won't even turn on to begin with. The power light just blinks every few seconds. Most of the time the tv will eventually turn itself on in an hour or so. However, I haven't been able to get the tv to turn on at all in the last two days. I am waiting for the repair guys to come take a look at it, but judging from other reviews...I'm not holding out much hope.

Another annoying part...when the tv jumps back and forth from mono to stereo a little windown pops up in the upper right-hand corner stating what audio mode it is in. Even though you can't really notice a difference in sound, there is no way to get the box to stop from popping up. The tv didn't do this at all when I first bought it, but over the last few months it has gotten progressively worse (as is the case with the tv turning itself off). This is my first Sharp I have ever had...and probably my last.

My first High-def flat screen

I purchased this on black friday and got a great deal ($400). I am very happy. I have had no problems with it. I have it hooked up with component cables and the picture is great. I have seen some hi-defs that really distort regular signals, but this tv does a good job on regular or hi-def. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it is 720p and not 1080. I don't know why they don't call 720p mid-def. I sit about 8 feet away when I watch and I have no complaints.

Complete Hunk of Junk!!

Oh what a nightmare!!

I bought this TV brand new on Dec 28th last year (2008). After 2 months of operation I noticed slight color distortion. By 4 months it was bad enough I knew I wasn't imagining it and it was not program related.

Time to contact Sharp for warranty service. They tell me they need to "see" what it's doing. I have to sit there with my digital camera on watching TV waiting for it to mess up. Then I had to send the video to Sharp and wait for them to respond. After 2 weeks of waiting I called them up. They apologized for not getting back to me sooner and agreed the TV needed service. This was how May was spent.

Now it's June. The repair people have already been here twice. They replaced a circuit board and the TV finally worked well....for a whole hour and a half. Then it died. It did exactly what others have reported here. The screen went completely black and will not come back on. It is apparently also stuck in ON mode. I have tried everything I know to get it to break the connection. It will not respond to the remote or even to being unplugged. It doesn't matter how long I leave it unplugged, minutes or hours, as soon as I plug it back in the power green light is back on with out me turning the TV on. It's already on.

So now I am up to a third visit from the repair people. They are coming back out this Monday and this time they are taking the TV with them and giving me a loaner TV while they figure out what's going on with this lemon. I am SO SICK of dealing with this I could spit. I am ready for Sharp to just give me a brand new TV to replace this one all together. They can have this piece of crap back. It's currently sitting in the hallway awaiting pickup. It's completely useless to me.

It's a shame too because when it works, it work's very well. The picture is amazing. Too bad they used inferior parts to put it together. If you do buy one of these TVs, do yourself a favor and also buy the longest extended warranty offered. Chances are you will need it often. Sharp's is only for a year. You are on your own after that. I'm only 6 months into mine and look at what I've already had to deal with.

Smearing/Motion Blur ruin this TV.

This was my first HDTV and boy do I wish I would have done more research.
I bought this back in November 2008 when it was a fairly new model and not much info on it. Looking through all the HDTVs at Wal-Mart in the same price range this tv not only looked the nicest the picture seemed the best out of the bunch as well.

Fast forward to April 2009. What a mistake it was buying this TV. The motion blur is ridiculous on this TV as well as suffering from SEVERE motion blur and smearing/ghosting. I've tried all combinations and this TV is just not good. AVOID if you play PS3 or 360. Games look terrible because of the smearing. So much for the 6ms response time.

In a nutshell:

PROS: Sleek, black shell. Solid colors/contrast....but

CONS: Severe motion blur, red smearing/ghosting, only way to improve it a bit is turning up brightness which ruins your contrast and washes picture out, horrible speakers.

Again there are FAR better TV's out there today for this price and even cheaper. DO NOT BUY!

Sharp 52" LCD TV - love it!!!

I bought the Sharp 52" LCD LC-52SB57UN from Walmart for $898. Some sites have this at 780, but it is full 1080. It was priced too low to pass up. The picture quality is awesome. The kicker is when we attached our laptop with the HDMI cable to view videos from Youtube - it was much better than we anticipated. The TV is extremely light. My brother-in-law and lifted the TV onto my wall with ease. We saw a NFL game in HD and could actually see the words on the quarterback's wrist band.

Size does MATTER!!! The only thing I regret is that it is not a 60" TV.

I would definitely buy this TV at a higher price.

Great TV

I bought this TV from Walmart on sale for $898.00 and couldn't be happier. It was definitely worth getting there at 6:00am since there was a long line and only a few TV's. I already had a Sharp 32" 720p set and loved it, so I trusted I would at least be as happy with this 52" 1080p set. I have gotten rid of Time Warner Cable and put up a DB8 antenna and I am amazed at the picture I get. Cable was never this crystal clear, or should I say "Sharp". And now since my signal is "over the air", my Windows 7 Media Center PC records all my favorite shows in their glorious full hi-def goodness!
This TV rocks!!! Whether I'm watching an "over the air" signal or playing a Bluray movie, the picture is absolutely beautiful. I can't help but hit pause from time to time just to take in the scenery. The only weakness I see in this this set is the sound quality of the on board speakers. They sound very "tinny". But that would never even be a consideration for me since I run the sound through my 5.1 sound system anyway. Why would anyone spend the money for a "big screen" and then use nothing but the on board speakers? You're missing half the true experience. If you don't have a good stereo at least spend another $50.00 and buy some 2.1 computer speakers with a sub woofer and run your sound through them.
Bottom line....This TV is a keeper.

Great TV!!

[...] The picture is incredible. Watching Football is crystal clear and a PBS show with sweeping vistas is striking in its clarity. I love all of the different input options including HDMI, SVGA, Computer Analog... I hook my laptop up to it and stream internet videos to it (no more sitting at my computer desk to watch TV). The screen menu is fairly easy to use. Other website reviews complained about the sound. I have everything running through my surround sound so can't comment on the sound from the TV.

One drawback is that the remote control which comes with it isn't very good (sometimes the buttons stick). When you buy the TV I suggest getting cables at [...]. They are a fraction of the cost of what you can buy in the store.

I was worried that a 52 inch would be too big (I sit approximately 8-10 feet from the TV.) It isn't too big. I am glad I got this size.

Sharp - LC-37BD6X tv to Dell 530 desk top -the best way to hook up tv.cable length 5 meters

Answer:
You cant go VGA to hdmi, but you can go DVI to HDMI. If your computer has DVI it will be a white colored connector on your video card. If your TV has a VGA port you can also go that route.

Someone knows Sharp TV distribuitors or technicians in Venezuela or in your countries to arrange my LCD TV

Answer:

Question : Sharp LCD TV for xbox 360?
I know the market is huge...which makes me feel totally clueless here. im wondering, is the Sharp brand good for a gaming TV? here is what i am considering, SHARP 46" LC-46SB54U LCD TV. any input would be great! thanks :)

Answer:
I would recommend looking at plasma TVs instead, especially at these sizes. LCD screens are prone to blurring and so called "artifacts" during fast motion pictures.I would specifically recommend looking at the panasonic viera series if you want to get the best out of your X360. These panels seems to stick out above the rest in the 46" range, LCD and plasma alike. Have a look at the included source if you want to read up on wich screen would best suit your needs.

Question : No component channel on my Sharp LCD TV?
I tried hooking up my xbox 360 to my small sharp LCD tv using the cables and hooking them all up in the right place, however all my tv has is AV1 and AV2, even though it says component on the side of the tv where you plug them in, under AV2. No sound of video is displayed on AV1 or AV2, and there is no HDTV switch on my cords. The cords are phillips.

Answer:
Its more than likely that the TV is not HD ready, is it an older or cheaper model?can you switch the xbox to non HD output?AV2 will be the component input, yellow for video , red and white for audio.

Question : I currently have a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD tv, and am debating whether or not to buy a BluRay player. Worth it?
I had read somewhere that the difference on the smaller LCD screens when comparing Bluray to DVD is not that much of a difference. Is this true?

Answer:
in my experience, you don't know it's better until you've been exposed to it. i didn't believe that bluray could be that much better than regular DVD until i watched a couple movies that i have on both formats. the clarity is amazing and sound quality is tremendous. that being said, it only works if you have the supporting cast, such as an HDMI input/output (a bluray player will have the output) and high quality sound receiver (the tv speakers don't do this part justice). i would suggest getting one if you have an extra $200 laying around and if you're a gamer of any kind, you end up spending $100 more for a PS3 (it comes with a bluray player).

Question : How can I improve picture quality on a Sharp Aquos lcd tv?
I have nothing attached but cable. It's 1080p 120hz. The picture just seems grainy.

Answer:
Get an HDMI Cable

Question : How do I use my Sharp Aquos LCD TV as a computer screen for Sony Vaio PCG-K13 laptop?
I have a Sharp Aquos LCD TV that has DVI-I output and a sony Vaio with monitor port and I want to use the TV as a computer screen. I have a DVI cable to connect them, but when I do so nothing happens. DO I need something else, or do I need to change settings or otherwise do something else?

Answer:
There are a very few models of notebooks in the market that has a DVI output. Mostly are S-Video output. However, if you are sure that there is indeed a DVI output on your laptop computer, then you can hook it up to your LCD TV provided that you use a DVI to HDMI cable or if your Sharp Aquos has also a DVI input, then you can use a DVI-DVI cable to connect them.Once the two boxes are connected now, then its time for you to check your keys on the keyboard. Normally, there are key shortcuts there that you need to press so your laptop will switch from laptop display to LCD TV display. You can also do a dual display by going into your control panel. If you are using WindowsXP like what I am using,Go to START, tnen CONTROL PANEL... then... look for the Mobile Chipset that controls your laptops display. Adjust the settings according to your liking.Other than this, if you just want your LCD TV as your laptop display, just connect the HDMI cables, or even an inferior quality S-Video out (use a S-Video cable for this one), then use your keyboard shortcuts to switch displays.I used to do this thing too with my 24" LCD monitor and my HP laptop, so I can watch my movies from my laptop in a bigger screen.Good luck
