100% Satisfied...
I bought this television five months ago, and could not be happier. My buddy bought a 41 inch 1080p LG at the same time, and i can not see one single bit of difference in picture quality between the two. Xbox 360 looks every bit as good in 1080i on my tv as PS3 does in 1080p on his, same with hd cable tv and blu ray. All in all, this is the largest size 720p set you can buy with no difference in picture, and i swear to you that there is absolutely NO difference. I love this tv, i dont quite understand the opc setting, as it dims and brightens the picture according to darkness, but is sort of annoying so i leave it off, and the only other problem is the cord falls out when you move the television, but how often do you do that. I now swear by sharp, and i had previously had a very strong loyalty to samsung. Another buddy is a sony guy, and he is planning on a sharp next time around, even though he had just purchased a 1080p sony. Out of the box, it is so bright it hurt my eyes, which is good...which is good. The color and blacks are amazing. Dont hesitate for a second to buy this set, you will not be sorry.

I LOVE my new tv. I got it because it fit in my space good and I am amazed at how good it looks and sounds. I would highly recommend this tv. I think for a TV under 40" you don't really need the 1080 dpi. I did a lot of research and this is teh one I got it is sweet!

Early exit soon after warranty expired
Bought an LC-37D43U from Sears in June of 2007, impressed by competitive price and picture quality in the display room. First purchase of large flat-screen TV. Brought TV home and set it up, TV worked fine. Used in home environment, not abused or used extensively, half-hour to an hour some evenings, kids cartoons on Saturday morning, also hooked up to DVD player. Not a heavy TV-watching household. Forward eighteen months to January 2009, TV is playing daughter's DVD and goes black, completely inoperative. Take it to Sharp authorized service center, diagnosis is fried Main Board, [...] parts and labor to fix. Called Sharp.usa Aquos Advantage service to see if they would comp the new board, cost $280, I felt main component should have been more robust, eighteen months to failure is pretty short in my opinion. No deal. No sympathy for out-of-warranty problems. Will consider more upscale brand for next purchase, will also consider extended warranty, these electronics are looking pretty fragile. Picture is grainy from DVD's + Sharp Warranty consists of threats
The good points of this TV are: 1. being able to buy it through Amazon, 2. good owners manual.
Unfortunately the bad points are: 1. The picture from DVD is very grainy. It is an extremely poor picture. Please read the latest issue of Consumer Reports: you will find the Auqos ranked near the bottom in every screen size (I wish I had that issue several months ago). 2. The power button has to be hit several times to turn the unit on. 3. The volume from one of the HDMI connections is very low. 4. When contacting Sharp Warranty for points 2&3, they "threatened" numerous times that I would be charged if the tech could not find an issue. The threat of being charged came up so many times & also very rudely, that it came across this threat was a tactic to avoid warranty work.
I suggest your read the latest issue of C.R. before considering this TV.

LOVE THIS TV
I bought this tv through Amazon last December. The first one that arrived worked fine for a couple of weeks, but then the HDMI inputs just stopped working. I called Amazon and they immediatley sent out a replacment. The replacement has been working perfecly ever since then. The HD channels are beautiful on this tv, and now I rarely watch standard def tv, even though it looks pretty good for SD. The sound on this tv is great until it reaches the low base sounds, where it makes a bit of a rumblimg noise. I eventually intend to get additional speakers for when I watch movies where the sound gets basey. Any other issues you may come across can usually be fixed by doing general adjustments. Out of all the tv's I've bought (RCA, Sony, Samsung, Philips, Magnavox), Sharp is my favorite. This was my 3rd Sharp purchase, and I am still in love with them all.( I finally let go of my big Sharp 27" tube tv, which still had a beautiful picture, but was just too bulky and a pain whenever I moved!) I highly recomend this tv, although I would think you could find it for a better price.

Customer Review :
The best purchase I've made in over a year
I don't know where to start, so I guess I'll go back a couple months. Back in November I had purchased a 1080P 47" Westinghouse from BestBuy, the TV featured blacks which looked like grays, 30 second warm-up period and finally locked up after less than two weeks. I returned it for a full refund and began researching other brands/models. After all of my research it came down to three choices: Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia XBR and Samsung. In the end I went with Sharp, the CNET review sold me.
So I finally ordered my Sharp Aquos early January, I've never bought from Amazon before and with the exception of my mattress and box spring I've never ordered something this large online before. I have to admit I was somewhat afraid of which could lie in store for me. But all of my worries turned out to be just worries.
I received my LCD TV in less than a week of ordering it and fell in love with it. Blacks look like blacks and the contrast level floors me. Mass Effect for xbox360 is absolutely breath taking. For games like Burnout Paradise you actually get drawn into the game because the color is so vivid and the refresh rate appears almost instantaneously. High definition content looks spectacular too, watching Transformers on HDDVD was almost as good as it was on the big screen.
The only gripe I have with it is that I think that it uses a 6-bot color profile and not an 8-bit color profile. Maybe I'm being too picky, just about everything I've thrown at it has looked flawless. Overall it's a great LCD TV for anyone looking to upgrade or buy their first LCD panel.
Also, I wish all of the LCD TV manufactures would have continued to support the DVI-D interface longer. Most people will just do what I did and use a HDMI-to-DVI-D cable to power my MCE system, but HDMI-DVI cables do not support dual link DVI, so there is less bandwidth in the cable. If companies like Nvidia would release HDMI port equipped cards I wouldn't even mention it, but the only products offering HDMI ports on them are motherboard manufactures using onboard graphics...yuck
One final note, Amazon has made me a firm believer in them after this purchase. With-in 30 days they lowered the price on this TV, so I followed the steps in order to be refunded the price difference. I was on the phone for less than 5 minutes and they green lighted my refund difference. I still can't believe it, it was so simple and hassle free. Kudos, Kudos.

Best In Class
Few possessions inspire as much emotional response as electronics - and specifically the amount televisions do. For that reason I'm a bit hesitant to review the Sharp Aquos LC46D82U. So I will begin by stating clearly that while I believe the 82U - and now the 84U - are the best TV's in the mid-ranged HDTV market, there are better televisions out there - though not at a mid-range price point.
Now to the details, I've owned my 82U for a little over one year and in that time I've watched everything from 1080p Blu-Ray movies, standard definition and HD cable, 480p DVDs and upconverted 1080i DVDs. I've also used the set for gaming and have tried everything from Sony's PS2 and PS3 to a Nintendo Wii. The obvious conclusion from viewing all of those different formats is that the better the source the better your picture will be.
High definition sources such as Blu-Ray movies and games all look astounding. As expected standard definition sources look just "okay". In my experience using the Aquos (and other 16:9 HDTVs) is that standard definition content is best viewed in letterbox or 4:3. Stretching the picture to fill a 16:9 screen results in less than desirable picture quality. Either way adjusting the picture size is as simple as a button press on the remote. Watch what looks best to you.
The LC46D82U offers a fantastic 4 millisecond response time meaning that the motion blur once attributable to LCDs is gone. Content once the bane of LCDs such as games and sports programs are easily handled by the Aquos.
The available dynamic backlight offers a continual adjusting light engine that can create rich black levels and vibrant bright colors. Out of the box the Aquos offers several factory presets for lighting and picture control though thankfully each is independently adjustable. My advice is to acquire a configuration disc to properly tune the settings for optimal picture quality. Several stores also offer professional set up services though I think they're generally overpriced.
One of my favorite features of the Aquos is the construction of the actual screen. The Aquos offers one of the best screens I've encountered in HDTVs. The material of the screen serves to deaden ambient light while allowing for tremendous picture quality. What it means is that the Aquos can be successfully utilized in even very bright rooms without experiencing a washed out picture.
The speakers included with the Aquos are functional and aren't intended to provide a movie theater like experience. The slim profile of the Aquos being the main restriction to the size and output of the speakers. That said I've found no gripe with what's included. The speakers are clear and play sufficiently loud to satisfy those used to television speakers.
Before I purchased my Aquos I heavily researched competitors in it's class. What I found was that the Aquos suited by needs and budget best. I would recommend others to do the same. All told I am extremely pleased with the my Aquos and recommend it to anyone looking for a mid-ranged HDTV.

sharp has saved me as a customer
I originally owned a 42d62u that developed problems and sharp replaced it with a refurbed 42d64u that came with problems. They replaced that set with a new 46d82u that i received today. It is an 803xxxx serial. I could not be happier having owned sharps with problems i was not expecting to be this pleased with the set. The picture is amazing and looks great with both cable hd and bluray. Sharp went above and beyond what i would expect a company to do when dealing with a warranty claim. My 62u was 2 months over the warranty when they agreed to replace it, which is why they sent me a refurbished 64u and not a new one. When that set had issues they upgraded me to this new 46d82u. Great set that handles everything i've tested with no motion blur, no banding and an overall amazing picture. Do not let sharp's lcd issues scare you away from their lcd's. They have the best customer service i have ever experienced, they stand behind their products, and will make every effort to make the customer satisfied if they have a set with a problem.

Great
Like it a whole lot. Arrived in perfect condition with no dead pixels. Only complaints would be: 1. 120hz might not be as big a deal as advertisers are trying to make us think. 2. I think I remember seeing something about "backlighting" which I thought was something else... but of course that was my fault.

Great TV for the price
I was looking for a 52 inch TV to upgrade from my 32 inch and ended up going with Sharp Aquos. I was always a fan of Samsung and love my 32 inch A450 but I was worried about the reflection that the Samsung's have, due to the glossy screen, as I have a family room with a lot of windows. The Sharp has a matte finish with no reflection so I have been very happy in that regard. The picture quality on this TV is very good when adjusted. It took me a little while to get the right settings for my room but now that I have it set the picture quality is great. After setting up the TV I had to upgrade the cables on my cable box as they caused the TV to be fuzzy (standard vga cables). Once I upgraded to component cables the picture quality of HD and regular was very noticeable. I have a PS3 and Apple TV and both look fantastic when running at 1080p. Even the Wii looks good but I will probably upgrade to component on the Wii in order to get higher quality. The 120hz works well even though I'm sure newer models are probably even better but I've been happy with the quality of football etc on this TV. The only area this TV could use help with is the sound. The sound is kind of empty but not bad for general watching. If you are big into sound quality you might want to check out other TV's but many LCD's are not great so external sources may be needed.
I was able to get a great deal on this TV at another vendor, under Eleven Hundred dollars so for that price this Tv is fantastic as many Samsung and Sony 42 inch TV's with 1080p and 120hz are that price right now with. If you are looking for a TV take a look at Sharp, for the price and features they are very good. They don't have the extra features such as hooking up to your internet but who wants that and why would you want to pay for those features. I just want a great picture at a great price, not to receive RSS feeds over my broadband connection.

Great TV. Very pleased so far.
I've had this TV for about 3 weeks now and I am very pleased thus far. I did an agonizing amount of research and this seemed like the best deal for a 52" TV. I went with the 120HZ as I heard it enhanced viewing sports and was a definate plus with Blu Ray (which I do not yet have). I cant really judge this feature as I have no point of reference. HD programming looks outstanding as do DVD's. I expected bad sound and this was the case. But a few days ago we switched from Direct TV to Comcast and my wife and I were stunned at how much better the TV sounded. Night and day. Why this is I do not know.... The blacks on this screen are very dark and look outstanding. Just watched "The Descent" which is an extremely dark movie and it looked just great. Anyway I recommend this TV if you are looking for an affordable 52" from a reputable manufacturer.

Questions & Answers
Question : i have an sharp aquos lcd tv and i cant get surround sound working?
i have a sharp aquos lcd tv and i just got a dish hd reciever. we have a surround sound box in the entertainment system. how do i hook up the surround sound to the tv so i can get sound whenever i switch inputs for example, it works with the satalite but when i switch the imput to imput 4, for the wii, i still get the satalite sound?
Answer:
The easiest way to control it is to use your TV as the hub, all the connections to the TV and then the audio out of the TV to the Sound System. That won't get you the best sound though. Your Wii and Satelite are connected to the TV directly and should be connected to the sound system directly. This means that when you switch inputs on the TV you will have to change inputs on the sound system as well. To make it easier and keep the better sound you can connect all audio and video connections to the receiver and send the video out to the TV. This will only work if your Surround system has an audio/video receiver as part of it.

Question : Will my wall be able to support a Sharp LC46XD1E LCD TV?
I am going to be buying a Sharp LC46XD1E 46inch LCD TV and am considering mounting it on my wall but was wondering if my plasterboard wall in my living room would be strong enough to support it (it weighs (31.5kg) ? Also, can anyone recommend a decent wall bracket, it doesn't have to be tiltable.
Answer:
To fix it to a plasterboard wall, you need to find the timber uprights that support the plasterboard. You can do this with a magnet or metal detector (to find the nailheads) or by tapping the wall. Fix two pieces of 100mm x 50mm timber horizontally to the wall with 4 100mm screws going into the uprights. You can now fix the TV bracket to that. It will take the weight of the TV (and you as well).

Question : The video on my Sharp LCD TV is not working?
The TV itself turns on, there is audio from whatever channel I am on (I can also change channels) and apparently the input functions work too. But the screen is completely black. Well... not COMPLETELY black. It's dark, but it still would glow in the dark. How do I fix this?
Answer:
The symptoms you are describing points to a bad TCON board!A TCON board, aka LCD controller board, is what controls the pixels of a LCD TV. This board is generally located on the back of the TV(with the back cover off) towards the very top. They usually have a metal shield covering them.If you can get to this board, get the serial numbers off of it. You will then be able to search sites like ebay for replacement boards. They are not hard to replace! You just have to be careful not to further damage the TV or yourself! Be sure not to work on the TV until it has been unplugged for several minutes to a half hour! Power supplies can hold charges for a long time!Good luck!

Question : Do you see different brightness bands on your Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
I am reading reports of "banding" on Sharp Aquos LCD TVs. I want to know if any of you noticed it on your TV.
Answer:
Many people have found "banding" on Sharp Aquos TVs. It has been a topic of discussion on the AVS forum for some time, but it has died down. Apparently some sets are ok, but many are not. If you can look at the TV before it is delivered, you can check for banding by looking at picture with large uniform areas of a light blue color. If you can see it, ask for another set. If you can get a set without banding, reports are that this set has the best HD picture around.Seehttp://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10506896#post10506896andhttp://www.avsforu m.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10400759#post10400759Don't try to read all, but scan through some of the later comments to see what some people have found.

Question : How do I use my Sharp Aquos LCD TV as a computer screen for Sony Vaio PCG-K13 laptop?
I have a Sharp Aquos LCD TV that has DVI-I output and a sony Vaio with monitor port and I want to use the TV as a computer screen. I have a DVI cable to connect them, but when I do so nothing happens. DO I need something else, or do I need to change settings or otherwise do something else?
Answer:
There are a very few models of notebooks in the market that has a DVI output. Mostly are S-Video output. However, if you are sure that there is indeed a DVI output on your laptop computer, then you can hook it up to your LCD TV provided that you use a DVI to HDMI cable or if your Sharp Aquos has also a DVI input, then you can use a DVI-DVI cable to connect them.Once the two boxes are connected now, then its time for you to check your keys on the keyboard. Normally, there are key shortcuts there that you need to press so your laptop will switch from laptop display to LCD TV display. You can also do a dual display by going into your control panel. If you are using WindowsXP like what I am using,Go to START, tnen CONTROL PANEL... then... look for the Mobile Chipset that controls your laptops display. Adjust the settings according to your liking.Other than this, if you just want your LCD TV as your laptop display, just connect the HDMI cables, or even an inferior quality S-Video out (use a S-Video cable for this one), then use your keyboard shortcuts to switch displays.I used to do this thing too with my 24" LCD monitor and my HP laptop, so I can watch my movies from my laptop in a bigger screen.Good luck

Question : Sharp Aquos LCD TV: Can I do anything about the delay when switching channels?
I bought a Sharp LC-32D40U. When I switch channels it takes 2-3 seconds before the image appears. Quite annoying. Is there anything I can do about that? Are there any LCD TV's which have a better performance?
Answer:
Yeah alot of the newer TVs have Very sensitive tuners. So what happens is the TVs are thinking and deciding what format to display it best. Some TVs are better, such as the Sony Xbr series LCDs and also the new Samsung like the LNS3251D.
