Great Buy
Got this for my daughters room after researching TV/DVD Combo's. Very satisfied with the purchase. Great picture, easy to go from DVD mode to TV mode. For the price, a great buy.

Sharp TV w/ DVD player
Flat screen TV with DVD built in player is as described and of good quality images. Connections were easy since DVD player is built in. We have direct cable hook up so a converter box was not necessary. It's a perfect size for a spare bedroom and doesn't take up a lot of room on top of the dresser. Instructions for connecting and programming were easy to follow. I had more trouble registering the product on-line because the exact dimensions were not listed. I had to select the closest one to the TV I had purchased and then insert the change. Hopefully, if there is a problem requiring warranty, that will be sufficient.

Sound is horrendous
We needed a bigger TV and one with a DVD player in it. We replaced a Sharp Aquos which we loved but it didn't have the DVD. Read all the reviews, did all of the research. Should have taken heed to the sound quality portion of the reviews. It is horrible. If the dishwasher is on, you can't hear anything. In addition if you are at more than a slight angle from center, the picture isn't clear. Look for another TV- you'll be unhappy with this one.

Customer Review :
Best 'affordable' 65" LCD on the market, AquosAdvantage earns their keep
This set was purchased to replace our substantially older LC-45D40U also from the Aquos lineup. We've always been happy with the Sharp LCDs, as they tend to present the best features and picture quality at their pricepoint. Historically customer service was a question mark for Sharp, but in recent years they've stepped their game up and are doing everything they can to maintain customer loyalty. I'll mention more about this later, but first the set itself.
Bought this in January '10 through another e-tailer for $2778 and felt it was a great deal. Generally, the price of 65"ers hasn't come down since and in fact has risen in some instances. If you do go for an online deal be wary about counting "free delivery" against your pricepoint as this will likely wind up being a non-option. Free delivery is often UPS delivery and you would not want UPS handling a box this big with something this delicate in it. Plan on spending $100-$300 for a freight service if you'd like not to have to send the first unit back. Be wary of e-tailers offering extended warranties as well. You'll want and be offered Sharp's Aquos Advantage extended plans by Sharp themselves at the point when your Sharp warranty is about to expire. The cost of this is substantially less than third-party warranties, and the manufacturer (while they do subcontract to the same local repair shops the third-party services use as well; AKA people who likely hate their jobs and will take it out on your TV) MAKES THE TVs and CAN REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE OF THE SAME OR LATER MAKE. Every third-party warranty I've had (including the one Circuit City lied to us about the terms of on our other Sharp set, and the one I stupidly purchased with this set) include terms that allow them to replace your set's parts with non-standard parts and replace it with a refurbished set of a different make but "equivalent function." They also generally contain terms that allow their inaction until not covered by "other warranties" including the manufacturers, so subtract a year from whatever the sales person is telling you. You'll want to stick with the manufacturer for something this expensive and after I tell you about my experiences and at last notice a 3-year extension with them would run about $450 and be worth every penny.
If you buy this or any Sharp set, ensure that the firmware is the latest version from Sharp's website (and be sure to use a FAT formatted USB drive without anything else on it to update). The firmware SIGNIFICANTLY improves picture quality on this set. Also, use "User Mode" in "AV Modes" when you calibrate as this mode provides the greatest dynamic range and flattest starting point from which to calibrate; DO calibrate, don't go with someone else's settings online as the sets themselves vary within product line (I've now had two of these and they calibrated to significantly different numbers to get the same picture).
Be aware if you're buying a set this large that standard definition television and poor connections are not going to provide you with the most satisfying experience. This size even at 10' or 11' demonstrates the flaws in poor quality signals. Thankfully it rewards you equally for good connections and source material. I've never seen movies like I've seen when playing blurays via my PS3 connected by HDMI and in 1080p 24fps mode. The picture is crisp, the darks are super dark, the brights are blinding, there's good shadow detail, and only the most trivial of pan juddering (that would otherwise be corrected by Film Mode being set higher). If you're playing these and getting an oddly soap opera video quality, try adjusting the "Film Mode" under "Advanced" to the "Standard" setting as this will disable the interpolation that creates this effect when watching 24fps tagged materials.
I shopped for a long time, I looked (and encourage you to look for yourself) at LED edgelit, LED backlit with local dimming, and CFT backlit sets from Sony, Samsung, Vizio, Sharp, and Panasonic. None offered a better picture for anywhere near the price. Each manufacturer has their own quirks that you should make yourself aware of (AVSForum is a great place to find these in owner's threads) before buying. I've even compared this set to the later Quattron 60" models (810 and 820) from Sharp and do not find a picture quality improvement worth giving up the 4.5"es of real estate (which actually adds up to a few square feet of picture space when converted to area).
When I went shopping, it was with a singular goal in mind: To buy the biggest TV I could afford with excellent picture quality. The 65E77UM satisfies that goal and then some.
Pros: -**Huge** set (we moved up 20" with this and the difference is phenomenal); it's obscenely big -**Excellent** picture quality (with updated firmware) -Nearly no lag for video gaming (search online, lag is ~1 ms in Game AV Mode which disables post-processing; this stomps on other sets, especially Samsungs which cannot disable much of their post-processing; I play both Xbox 360 and PS3 games on this set and they're phenomenal) -Comparatively lower energy draw than equivalent or even smaller plasmas -Brighter and less glossy display than Plasma and many contemporary LCDs for rooms with uncontrollable ambient light -Excellent connectivity -AquosAdvantage customer service can't be beat (see below) -At this price, you'd be looking either at LED sets that are 2' smaller and the same price or 2.5X as much, or half of another manufacturer's CFT-lit set. The Sharp handily bests their price (and their picture quality in my opinion) -Excellent adaptability to environment and calibration (brightness range, OPC, and depth of user calibration options)
Cons: -*Way* non-standard VESA mounting pattern (there are only about 3 or 4 mounts that will work with this set) -Built in speakers are not on par with the picture and size (but if you're buying a ~$3,000, 65" TV and don't have a home theater speaker system of some kind, you need to reassess your priorities) -You'll pay for what you get with shipping a set this large (plan to spend $100-$300 out of pocket for freight) -So many settings to adjust color (basically 5 per color) and gain that some users may find it difficult to calibrate (but I find this a significant plus as this is my hobby and I enjoy trying to get as much out of my investment as I can using DVE's calibration bluray) -Minor juddering in pans that can be corrected with film modes, but then creates soap-opera effect I find more off-putting (this issue is common to all LCDs)
Asides: -If you're cross-shopping this against current sets that have ethernet connectivity, bear in mind that most of the devices you likely have attached to your set have this (Xbox, PS3, Tivo, even AVRs often have this these days; to me this is a non-issue) -The gold bezel is a non-issue. you can't actually see it as it winds up looking like reflected light on the bottom edge -This set is deeper than LED lit sets, but given the greater size, lower pricepoint, and equivalent picture quality, I can do without a giant iPhone. This set is actually very handsome and I'll try to post some photos once I've got my wires hidden -If you're mounting yourself, this set has the advantage of being much lighter than an equivalent sized plasma (BUT DO check the VESA pattern against any mount you consider buying, it's very non-standard) -For folks having a hard time finding this information, Sharp confirmed that the contrast ratio on this set is 50,000:1 (better than the native contrast on Panasonic plasmas for comparison)
Aquos Advantage Customer Service from Sharp: While Sharp didn't have a great customer service reputation for a few years when their sets experienced banding, they've come lightyears ahead of even other manufacturers in order to encourage a loyal customer base. My set developed an issue with the panel after 6 months (basically a red line halfway down the screen on the far right). I posted a picture and description of the issue to Sharp's Facebook page and received a call within 48 hours. Their CSR worked with me and the local shop (who managed to fight them the entire way) to try and repair the issue. He consistently called on my cell and house phone to follow up and see what service quality was like. At the end of the day the set had to be replaced, Sharp sent a new set out, took the old one back, their delivery people mounted the set and let me test it fully before signing, and they even gave me a 3 year extension on their warranty from the day I signed (i.e., if this set goes, it'll be replaced with whatever the next best set is). I was offered a brand stinking new LC-60LE920UN, and after staring at a 60" 810 and 820 set at the local BestBuy, I opted to take the LC-65E77UM instead. The newer sets just don't make that much better picture than the 65", and with a 3 year warranty, if this set goes they may even be producing he 68" led edgelits by that time in which case I'll move up in features and size. I couldn't be happier with the speed or care that Sharp handled my claim with. All manufacturers and third-parties will use local shops for their warranty work, but only a manufacturer can offer you a new set to replace it. They've even offered me a set at a deep discount to replace my out of production 45" that has banding issues that cropped up after Circuit City's warranty had expired. I've *never* had this good an experience with customer service, and I *am* the squeaky wheel.
To be completely honest, I could live with this set for the rest of my life and be giddy every day to watch it. Be ready to turn into a picture snob. Be ready to have your friends embarrass you by bragging about your TV to your other friends. It's worth every penny and then some.

Love it!
So I upgraded from a Samsung HL61A750 LED based DLP to this bad boy and thus far I am very satisfied. I really wanted something bigger as well as something that i could wall mount eventually (currently I have it sitting on the stand). I looked around for quite a bit and was pretty much set on picking up a 73" Mitsu DLP when I saw this TV sitting in a corner. It was being clearanced out for $1800 and I figured, why not? Have had it for the better part of a week, so no, this is definitely not a long term test but more initial impressions.
Physical Design: Well to be honest, it pretty much looks like all the other LCD's out there. Black frame (Slight bronze finish at the bottom, but not very noticeable), no shiny bits and only a small green led in the right corner to let you know the unit is on. No real complaint there.
Setup: Has a good # of HDMI (4) and component inputs. Overall, hookup is easy, had my Xbox 360, Media PC, PS3 and Directv HD DVR hooked up through my Denon AVR-890 pretty quickly. The onscreen setup process takes a couple of minutes and the OSD screens are easy to navigate.
Remote: Horrible. really horrible. Get a Harmony asap. When you consider that this is supposed to be one of Sharp's higher-end units, this remote really does feel down market. It's not very ergonomic, not backlit and the buttons just feel funny.
Sound: Sound from the built-in speakers is ok. I mean, really, if you're going to get a 65" TV that a picture that rivals the one in the theater, why not get some speakers? People complain about speakers all the time and really, it's a stupid argument.
Picture: Thus far, really good. The pic off Blu-Ray through my PS3 is excellent. 1080p/i through Directv is also really good. Of course the image from standard-def can be pretty bad, but then again, I didn't buy this TV to watch standard def. Running my Media PC through HDMI was also an unexpected plus-I wasn't expecting it to look that good. Xbox 360 (using the Xbox 360S) also looks great. I'm still messing around with the settings to get it just how I like it. On that note, Sharp gives you an abundance of user-configurable settings that can help you set a great picture. However the manual does little to explain some of them (I had to google a couple of the advanced settings). That being said, I messed around with things until I got a picture I liked.
I know Sharp is phasing out the 65" and focusing mostly on the 55 to 60 market, so if you can find one of these at a great price I'd say jump on it. I paid $2074 for this with tax, shipping and a 5 yr service plan at Brandsmart in Doraville, GA. I'll update this review after I've had it for awhile. This is my 1st Sharp after having 2 Samsungs and a JVC LCD and thus far, this Aquos definitely impresses.

With the introduction of the LC46LE700UN, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC46LE700UN illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's Ultra Brilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new XGen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS has ever achieved. Overall, the LC46LE700UN shows that with Sharp, it's not just LED… it's AQUOS LED.

Great TV for the Price
I love this television. Bought it about nine months ago, and couldn't be happier. I too compared a lot of sets, read all the reviews, and came to the conclusion that this was a terrific deal. I love, love, love the picture quality. It's great for HD cable, and superb for Blu Ray movies. I'm afraid if I hooked a game machine to it I'd become totally addicted.
Can't comment on the sound quality. It's just fine for what I use it for, and if I want higher sound quality one day, I'll simply buy a sound system to go with it.
Bought it through Amazon. No hassles - delivered promptly, and I had no trouble setting it up.

NICE TELEVISION
I purchased this television about a week ago and so far it has worked flawlessly. I was undecided on another LCD from Sammy or try an LED. Amazon made the decision for me when this Sharp model was suddenly lowered another 270 bucks in my shopping cart. The picture is very clear and consistent. There is no humming as reported by others. The speakers are fine but I do have the sound connected to a 5.1 system. It has an interesting energy saving switch on the remote which allows you to increase/decrease the brightness level on the LED's to conserve energy. I tend to like the "standard" setting the best. The Samsung does have some "finer" features such as a dust cloth, an LED light on the t.v. to let you know you have power to the unit when plugged in, and the ability for the T.V. to swivel on the base. Nonetheless, this one is a keeper.

very pleased
Picture is fantastic. Sound from the unit is not impressive, but I hooked up a 35W sound bar & now it sounds great. The menu is laid out logically - easy to use. The TV defaults to using a feature which changes the the backlight of the TV (auto dims the TV) based on the rooms ambient light. It kept switching levels, so I just disabled this feature. If you're in a basement or another room which has a constant light level, it may be a nice feature, but I thought it was more annoying than useful. Anyways, I was really just after a great picture and this Sharp delivered.

I love my sharp aquos LC46LE700UN
I have this LED flat screen for a month now and i still love. Nothing wrong with this flat screen, I don't hear any buzzing sound at all, great contrast and not even a single dead pixel. If you can buy a home theater 5.1 system such as samsung under $300 from Sam's club it will make your flat screen so much "a live" as if you were in a movie theater.
Rating :
It's ALL about the picture! A very under-rated TV.
Incredible picture! Light weight due to LED backlighting. One of the few full-array units still on the market! Most are now edge-lit, which in effect is light Christmas lights around a window--bright edges but dark center! Does not make sense and only being done to satisfy consumer demand for sexy-thin TV's.
The Picture is near perfect. Solidly built unit, however, Sharp could have done better with the stand. Overall, photo's of this unit do not do it justice, it looks gorgeous! Piano black finish will scratch, so use a swiffer duster on it! The remote, uninspiring, works well. Lots of HDMI ports and on-screen menus are clear and easy to use. Lots of adjustments can be made with picture quality.
Sound is from ten watt speakers. Obviously designed to hook-up to home theater sound system. Easy PC HDMI hookup is impressive. The AquosNet ethernet works well but there is really no content to even bother with. At least you can can live customer support from it. Sharp needs to add some more content soon! But don't buy a TV for internet content since you can get Netflix, etc from virtually any BluRay Player on the market now! A TV should just deliver on one thing---Picture Quality! This Aquos does!!!
The full array constant backlighting offers incredible contrast. Blacks are very dark! Color output on factory settings is very natural. Initially, it will seem darker than normal but if you like a super-bright picture its easy to adjust, but you'll sacrifice contrast quality. I have left the factory settings and the optical ambient light-sensor works well but can be adjusted or shut-off.
I own two versions of this model, thats how impressed I am with the quality of this unit. Pro reviews of this set were mediocre but customer reviews everywhere are positive. A very under-rated unit and I just wanted to add my 2-cents! You can get a great deal on this unit since it really doesn't compete with the sexy slim edge-lit units. Consider quality over slimness.
I give this TV a solid four stars...it would have had five if the AquosNet service were more than a gimmick and the stand and remote were sleeker. Overall, a beautiful set I expect to enjoy for years to come. Its thinner and sexier than the pictures! Trust me! Don't we wish we could say that about ourselves?! :) This is a great TV!

Great TV at a good Price
I had shopped the electronic stores here locally and was told to stick with the 3 S's on more than one occasion (Sony, Sharp, and Samsung). For the price you can not get a better value than this Sharp 1080p 120HZ TV. One of my apprehensions regarding this TV is the brown that is at the bottom of the TV, as you can not tell how brown it is. After getting the TV wall mounted it really blends into the wall and is not noticeable. After getting the TV set-up with my system it truly is a great TV for the price. This is my second Sharp TV that I own and I do enjoy both of them very much.

Good Buy!
Great "current day" price for a great tv! Not very tech savy but from what I've seen so far it is awesome! I probably wouldn't use a 40" tv as a computer monitor, but hey... to each their own. No dead spots on the tv, blur from fast motion games not an issue, and big difference from my samsung 52" plasma 720p as far as quality! Watched the Dark Knight movie on blu-ray and some of the Special FX looked kinda fake... Step it movie guys the tv's are winning! Very happy so far with tv and will update as I get more time with the tv.

Calibration Settings + Tips/Tricks
I actually own the sister version of this product (the Sharp LC-52E77U), but the information in this review is equally applicable to this TV since they use the same, albeit smaller, panel.
Since I have owned this TV for a few months now, I thought it would be helpful to share a few tips and tricks I have learned:
PROBLEM: INCOMPATIBLE AUDIO SIGNAL
All my A/V devices (360, PS3, Wii, Samsung DTB-H260F) were connected to my Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver with HDMI, which was set to output to my Sharp Aquos LC-52E77U. And, although the receiver was set to "Audio TV Out" off (and even with it on), the TV kept popping up this error:
"Incompatible audio signal has been received, please check the output signal."
It only pops up for a few seconds, and only when I would switch devices or resolution or whatever. Still, pretty annoying. Connecting the devices directly to the TV via HDMI caused the same error - the only time it didn't happen is when there was 2ch 44.1/48Khz PCM involved.
Unfortunately, unlike every other TV I have ever owned, the Sharp doesn't have a menu option to disable audio. Muting didn't help, either.
The solution? Set the audio volume to 0. No more error!
PROBLEM: NO DEVICE DETECTED (DVI -> HDMI)
When I first got this TV, I plugged in my Mac Mini, using a DVI -> HDMI cable. After using it for a bit, the TV would stop recognizing that the Mac Mini was connected. It turns out that, whenever the Mac Mini would be rebooted or would go to sleep, the Sharp would refuse to recognize that it was connected anymore.
The solution? Physically unplugging and plugging in the TV (not just pressing the power button), and disabling sleep on the Mac. I still have to do this unplugging dance occasionally - like for system updates - but not as often as when sleep was enabled. I guess that's the price you pay for a beautiful 1080p HDMI signal, as opposed to a letterboxed 1600x1200 VGA signal - the max this TV supports.
CALIBRATION SETTINGS
This TV has some definite problems with blues in areas of high contrast. Here are the best settings I have found, in order of their appearance in the menus:
OPC: Off Backlight: +6 (you can adjust up or down a smidge if need be) Contrast: +36 Brightness: -6 Color: +1 Tint: +1 Sharpness: -1
CMS Hue/Saturation/Value: 0 Color Temp.: Low (leave at Mid for color managed devices like Macs, or OTA TV) R Gain: +11 G Gain: 0 B Gain: -10 Fine Motion Enhanced: Off (leave on for sports if you prefer) Active Contrast: Off Gamma Adjustment: 0 Film Mode: Off (I used Advanced(Low) for sports) Digital Noise Reduction: Off Monochrome: Off Range of OPC: +16 Max, -16 Min (it is off, anyways)
Rating :
OK, but problems mounting it.
Picture: The wife likes it. 'nuff said. Setup: The channel scan is really sloooow. No big deal, but be prepared to go have lunch while the scan works. Mounting: Oops! Guess I didn't do my homework. This TV was intended for the bedroom, on a wall mount, in a corner so it would have to be both tilted and swiveled. No can do. The wall mount points on the back of the TV are spread WAY out, and will NOT accept a "universal" mount. The only wall mount it will accept is their own Sharp mount, and it only tilts, and does not swivel. So I had to return the mount I ordered at the same time, and install a shelf on the wall that I could set the TV on (it does have a good swivel base included). Also note that this TV will probably not fit onto those TV stands that have an integrated mount on a pillar. Before you purchase such a stand be sure to have the TV at home first, take good measurements, and shop for a stand with tape measure in hand. Otherwise you'll get the furniture home, and find out it's useless. Just so ya know.

Love my TV
I don't have a single complaint about this TV. It was super easy to setup and doesn't weigh very much. The picture and sound are great. I have even used it as my computer monitor by hooking up my laptop with an hdmi cable. Excellent picture quality.

Question : what is wrong with my TV? I have a Sharp LCD tv (LC-15SH7U) and it will not turn on.?
When I push the power button the red light turns on for 3 seconds and then turns off and the TV does not turn on. What is wrong with my TV?
Answer:
It is indicating a fault, and it is in the fault detection self-protection mode. If there is an internal fault or component defect, it would have to be professionally serviced. Is the set still under warranty? If so, contact Customer Service as instructed in the owner's manual to get warranty service. If it is not under warranty, try this procedure before taking it to be diagnosed/repaired. Note: This procedure sometimes works for some digital TVs to reset it to factory default settings if the TV's memory got "wiped" due to a power surge or fluctuation. It will not work if there is an internal fault, defect or component failure.1. Unplug the TV from AC power and leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes.2. After that time, and before plugging it back in, press and hold the TV's main Power On/Off switch (button) for about 10 seconds. Release the power button.3. Plug the TV back in. Press the Power On/Off switch as you normally would to turn on the TV. If it powers up - great! If not, try pressing and holding the Power On/Off switch for about 10 seconds or until the TV powers up, whichever comes first.4. If it still will not power up, this indicates that there is an internal malfunction. It could be a blown fuse or power protection circuit, or a blown power filter/surge capacitor, or it could be worse. There's no way to really tell without troubleshooting the set to determine the cause of the fault condition.

Question : How do i add a digital antenna to a 46 inch sharp lcd tv?
How do i add a digital antenna to a 46 inch sharp lcd tv?
Answer:
(This answer assumes you are located in North America)You connect it just like a old analog antenna. That's because all TV antennas are digital antennas. On most DTVs there is only one antenna input for both analog and digital broadcasts. The idea that there are special "digital antennas" is just marketing BS.You just connect the antenna and go into the DTV's menu and have it scan for digital antenna channels. (Note: You have to have the DTV scan for digital channels, it probably will not find them automatically like it does analog channels.)

Question : Sharp LCD TV for xbox 360?
I know the market is huge...which makes me feel totally clueless here. im wondering, is the Sharp brand good for a gaming TV? here is what i am considering, SHARP 46" LC-46SB54U LCD TV. any input would be great! thanks :)
Answer:
I would recommend looking at plasma TVs instead, especially at these sizes. LCD screens are prone to blurring and so called "artifacts" during fast motion pictures.I would specifically recommend looking at the panasonic viera series if you want to get the best out of your X360. These panels seems to stick out above the rest in the 46" range, LCD and plasma alike. Have a look at the included source if you want to read up on wich screen would best suit your needs.

Question : Sharp LCD TV has hardly any sound. Why?
I just bought my first HDTV, a Sharp 26" LCD. I have the volume on full blast but it's barely audible 20 feet away. Is this because these new TV's are designed to be hooked up to a home system? I have a little shoot-ash portable TV that makes more noise.
Answer:
maybe the audio is not set right. set it to stereo.

Question : No component channel on my Sharp LCD TV?
I tried hooking up my xbox 360 to my small sharp LCD tv using the cables and hooking them all up in the right place, however all my tv has is AV1 and AV2, even though it says component on the side of the tv where you plug them in, under AV2. No sound of video is displayed on AV1 or AV2, and there is no HDTV switch on my cords. The cords are phillips.
Answer:
Its more than likely that the TV is not HD ready, is it an older or cheaper model?can you switch the xbox to non HD output?AV2 will be the component input, yellow for video , red and white for audio.
