Customer Review :
best value for your investment
1) The best HD set I've owned when it comes to picture quality; there's no better way of describing the picture quality of this set than the reviewer 'Audio-Video Nut' has put it "The picture of this set is beyond compare to the other LCDs and Plasmas. The HD is 3-D like."
2) The worst HD set I've owned when it comes to sound quality.
3) I have not heard any 'pop' sound; I believe Sharp has fixed the problem at this point in time.
4) The set is light; ready on the stand out of the box. Service from the seller (Audio & Video Center) is excellent; service from the carrier (PIM) is horrible.
5) Overall, I believe this set gives you the best value for your money. I am actually looking into buying a second set, instead of the planned Samsung UN55B8000 (55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LED).

Great experience with Sharp USA....
I originally purchased a floor model 65inch Aquos LCD TV model 65D64U from Sears in September 2009. Sears had the floor model for some time and placed it on clearance with a price that was unbeatable. I trucked the TV home and it looked pretty good for the first two weeks. Shortly afterwards however, two ghost like horizontal bars streched acrossed the screen that were about one inch in length each. I left it alone hoping it was a bad input or poor signal from my Dish Network HD box. The lines persisted, even with other components hooked up to different inputs. Needless to say, I was not very happy with the picture as the bars were awfully distracting.
I contacted Sharp via their Aquos Advantage online chat and was told to take several pictures of the problem and send via e-mail to their customer service. I did as instructed and recieved a phone call the next day. The representative set up an in-home repairman visit for the next business day. The repairman came as promised (and on time) and related that the problem seems to lie within the screen for which he can not repair. He called Sharp and notified them that he can not repair it. I was told that I should recieve a call from Sharp within three business days as they had to send a request to the powers that be to determine if they were going to exchange the television, or attempt to repair same.
Sure enough, I recieved a call within three business days from Sharp who promptly advised me that they will exchange the television, free of charge, which includes shipping and returning the old unit back to them. Even more astonishing I was told that my current television is "old" and has been discontinued. I thought "great, now I am going to have to come up with the difference for a new model TV". But, not only did they not give me a hard time about the "old" discontinued model, but they advised me that they were going to exchange it with their newest model (LC65E77UM)! I was told it would be shipped via freight and may take several weeks to recieve. I only waited a week before it was carried in my front door.
This newer LCD exchanged TV looks great and has noticably better picture quality than my previous. I wrote this review because I am a skeptic when it comes to manufacter warranties, especially when it comes to high end electronics. I expected lengthy repair orders, shipping it to them, and being without a TV for a month or two. However, the time I notified them of my problem, to recieving a brand spanking new (upgraded) TV, was less than a month. Only paperwork required from me was to fax a copy of my proof of purchase. They took care of the rest. I applaude Sharp for upholding their warranty and resolving the issue quickly and hassle free. I will definatly continue to buy Sharp products knowing that they stand behind them when they fail!

Excellent HDTV
Pros: 1) Fantastic picture, colors, etc. 2) Deals with fast motion very well (no discnerable problems in handling motion) 3) Great price. 4) No dead pixels 5) Easy menu and setup. 6) Great looking set (I'm not really sure what people are talking about regarding the gold bezel. If it has a gold bezel, I sure can't see it. It looks all black to me.)
Cons: 1) My set leans backwards slightly instead of standing perfectly vertical. I'll contact customer services about this.
Note: I have no idea what the internal speakers even sound like because I only use my Denon receiver and home theater speakers and I haven't seen any error message about incompatible audio like at least one reviewer has.

Best TV I have ever owned.
I would 100% recommend this product to anyone. The picture quality is superb, absolutely no motion blur, and the viewing angle is incredible. I mounted this unit on the wall in about an hour and was watching HD video from there.
Absolutely no glitches with it, delivery was on time, and the guys were very professional getting the unit out of the box and ready for me.
100% satisfied.

Customer Review :
A very nice picture, and easy to use
I'm very happy with my new Sharp. The picture is very nice, it was easy to set up when I received it (didn't even open the manual yet), and the remote control was thoughtfully designed. I just hooked it up to a regular TV antenna bought at the dollar store, and it picked up all the digital channels in my area with no problem.
The only thing I don't like about it is that the sound isn't rich like on my old-fashioned TV. I haven't tried hooking it up to a computer yet, or a DVD player, so can't comment on that. It's a good buy, especially for the price.

Cannot access WXGA configuration from PC
I used LC-22SB27U TV on a couple laptops, the WXGA modes cannot be activated. I only have 800x600 and 1024x768 choices. Sharp customer service says the video card should take care of this. But why other HDTVs don't have this issue? One of my computer video card is Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset on Dell D620.

A Dog
I was very disappointed in this set. I have 3 other Sharp LCD's and purchased this one for the kitchen. Could not adjust the "haze" out of it. I had bought a 22" Samsung and was going to take it back if this one worked out glad I waited to return it. The Samsung had a much better picture.

Great Deal for the price
I shopped around a lot before buying this 22" tv/dvd combo. The picture is really good and there are a lot of ways you can adjust the brightness and color if you so choose. Also, the DVD player works easily and the remote is simple. Set up was super-fast, just plug in the cable hookup and the power cord, programming took less than 5 mins and it picks up all of the channels. I also like the easy sleep timer in 10 min increments; perfect as my bedroom tv. The best thing about this tv compared to many of the other flat panels, though, is the sound. Lots of the other flat panels have complaints about the sound not going high enough, etc. Well, this one will go loud enough to be heard two rooms away. The volume goes up to 50 or so and I never put it higher than 8 or 9. I think it might be the best deal on the market for the price; trust me, I looked a lot. The closest competitor I found for picture quality was an LG and that was the same price as this one and lacked the dvd player. The closest competitor with the dvd player was more than $50 more than this one. I would definitely recommend this LCD.

Customer Review :
Picture is distorted
Well I keep hearing good things but having bought one today I'm not at all impressed. If the shop is open on Sundays this is going back in the morning, simply as the picture quality is so poor.
It distorts horribly. If the camera pans across a room, you see things such as doors or windows, or people's faces, changing shape.
At first I thought it was some kind of deliberate effect for the movie I was watching, as it's like the view of a wide angle lens. Then when the movie ended, guess what? It wasn't the movie, it's the TV. Now maybe I'm using the "wrong" cables or something but I see no excuse for such distortion. The image quality is worse than our old CRT set.
Talking of cables, we're unable to watch DVDs as it only has the connectors on the back for one unit at a time. Sure, there's a bunch of other connectors but both our sat' box and DVD player use the same red, yellow and white cables. This pile of C can only handle one set of such cables. Rather than buy more cables I'd rather buy a different TV. Oh, another thing, spent an hour or more digging around the house to find some suitable screws, as the screws for the stand were missing from the box.
I am deeply unimpressed. I should add I didn't get this from Amazon but I doubt it would make any difference. I'm online right now seeing if there is any known solution or if it's a common problem.

Not happy with this purchase
I purchased this TV several months ago, and it has from day one had a problem with the color brightness. My screen no matter what AV mode it is in grows dark, then light. If it is a night scene, it just grows dark, and you can't see anything. So I thought this isn't right, and Sharp came out to fix my TV. So far they have put in a new board, and it hasn't gotten any better. I called Sharp again to say hey, my TV still doesn't work right, and they told me to adjust my AV controls. So, this isn't effective, and basically also does not allow you to watch the TV in different AV modes.
I was told by a Sharp represenative in this older generation of TV the TV attempts to adjust the contrast itself, and well it basically gets it wrong sometimes, and you just have to put up with it. They don't make them like this now, but if you have an older model, too bad. Seriously? I think the picture on this TV stinks, whether you are watching a DVD, playing a game, or watching TV this issue acts up all of the time. I will pretty much not buy another Sharp product again until I exhaust ever other model of products.
My advice, if you really want a Sharp TV get a newer generation or be prepared to have contrast issues, and never to really see a night scene on your TV again.

Best "True Image" Television for the Money
I have owned this Sharp Aquos 32-inch LCD TV for over half a year, and I continue to be impressed with it. However, consumers should focus upon their particular needs, since their desires might not match my own.
RESOLUTION -- First, this is a 720p resolution screen. Yet, as a 32-inch screen, this resolution is more than sufficient. Viewing distance is important with this television. I have it placed at the end of my bed, approximately 10 feet from where I normally view the television. The picture is AMAZING from this distance. However, if I sit at the foot of my bed (only 3 feet or less from the screen), I can see a great deal of pixelation. There are various websites that can calculate the proper viewing distance for each size of screen and resolution. I highly recommend using these calculations when choosing an LCD TV, since most stores will place these "smaller" HDTV's in isles where you are standing within 3 feet of the screen, giving you a distorted perspective on how the screen will actually look within your home. I suggest finding a venue where you can stand the proper distance away from the screen to evaluate the picture quality.
CONTRAST RATIO -- While the Sharp Aquos may have a lower contrast ratio than its competitors, please note that most competitors utilize their "dynamic" contrast ratio as their base line. For those familiar with digital imagery, this means that when using the "dynamic" range, the images are "stretched" (with the darkest pixels contrasting sharply with the lightest tones). I must admit that the Sharp Aquos has a horrible Dynamic range function. Like most dynamic range LCD TV settings, it makes each color garishly bright (this might be nice if you watch football and want the astro-turf to look greener than green, but it's not pleasant to watch if you are viewing a drama or action film). The benefit of the Sharp Aquos is that the "Standard" contrast setting is exponentially better than the "dynamic" setting of any of its competitors. It provides a true-color experience, (more like a well-adjusted CRT television yet in high-def) without the hyper-contrasted colors and tones of similar HDTV's.
VIEW MODES -- The Sharp Aquos has a half dozen pre-set viewing modes, including "Standard" (which I prefer for most purposes) and "Movie" (which increases the soft golden tones you would expect from a theater experience, like the old Kodachrome film). Each preset can be modified with fairly detailed options and saved as the preferred mode for an individual input. This means that you might fine-tune the "movie" setting to your own preferences, and then save that as the default setting for watching DVD's. If you pop in a DVD, that preset will automatically be used. But if you change to watching Cable television, the Sharp Aquos will automatically switch to whatever other view mode you chose to associate with that input. There are also the "User" (customized) mode, and a "Gaming" (high contrast) mode, as well as the additional two "dynamic" mode functions.
There is also the unique OPC option (which can be saved as a preference on any of the view modes listed above). It reads the ambient light in your room and adjusts the backlight of the LCD accordingly. I like this because it saves energy and adds hours/days/months to the life of your television (the bulb will eventually burn out -- more quickly if it is on its maximum setting all the time without the OPC). In fact, watching movies in a pitch-black room, I've noticed I get blinded by the brightness of this screen if I don't turn OPC on. That's how wonderfully bright the screen can be (yet does not need to be all the time).
INPUTS-- I have an HD-DVR hooked up through Verizon FIOS using an HDMI cable. Verizon sends out HD at 1080, and standard definition television at 480. But this TV only displays 480 (native) or 720 (downsampled from Verizon's 1080). The Sharp Aquos is able to quickly recognize and convert each signal to the proper resolution within about 1.5 seconds of switching between Hi-Def and Standard-Definition channels (between 480 and 1080), providing amazingly clear images from down-sampled HDTV signals. I have been consistently amazed at the HD picture of this television, including action-packed movies and television shows with fast movement.
Note that most cable companies broadcast their HD in 720 (the native resolution of this television), so you do not need Verizon/Fios to attain this quality.
I also have a PS2 connected to this television. When I first connected it with the standard "composite" video cables (the "Red, White and Yellow" cables) it was horrendous. However, hooking that same PS2 through the "component" cables made the video games appear almost movie-like. I was greatly impressed.
I do have a standard DVD player (not up-sampled) connected to the Sharp Aquos through "component" video cables. The output is exceptional, with no issues.
I have also hooked up my iPod Classic to this television, using the iPod-to-composite cables (available online, but nearly all such cables are sold separately). For down-sampled videos (iPod videos that were only meant for the iPod screen), these images were sub-par on the Aquos HDTV. However, for videos purchased at HD resolution through iTunes, the picture was amazing on the Aquos.
SOUND -- My wife and I have been surprised by the complaints about the Sharp Aquos on-board speakers. We watch our T.V. within a relatively small bedroom, and the on-board sound regularly tricks us to think the special effects are coming from outside the house. The sound quality also depends upon the input. I've noticed that the best sound comes from my HDMI inputs. I do own a surround-sound 5 speaker system that we use occasionally with this Aquos set (the audio output is easily accessible on this TV) but we have found few reasons to use it, other than the truly blockbuster sci-fi or action films. Most of the time we use the on-board speakers and keep the volume set at about 1/4 of the total output. That is PLENTY loud. Much beyond that and we'd be covering our ears (and probably damaging the speakers).
OVERVIEW -- A great HDTV for a medium-sized room when the viewers will be between 8 and 10 feet away from the screen. Don't worry about the "Dynamic" contrast ratio. This HDTV is best in "standard" mode (more "life-like" than any HDTV I've seen). If you want an HDTV with the most true-color tones and a flexible menu for the average user, I highly recommend this television. If you don't believe me, go into any store and compare the true color tones of the Sharp Aquos to any of its competitors. That test is what finally sold us on this TV. You'll see what I mean.

Received broken
There was a whole in the box and the screen was shattered. They would not send me another TV until they received it back It was FedX's problem, but the vendor said it was mine. I did not reorder from them I ordered one from QVC as I should have in the first place and received it before the other company aknowledged that that had received the broken one even though we had a signed note showing they had it in hand. Took a lot of phone calls, to get a refund. Once again, I will order only items that Amazon packs or stick with the best customer service in the business, QVC. Sincerely a disappointed, Ann Whitney Great tv just don't buy it here. QVC got to me pronto.

Good picture good price
I bought the previous generation of this Sony TV model (slightly different exterior/remote control, otherwise exactly the same) and after ~10 months a few pixels starting dying, which I'm told is a consequence of LCD TVs- I would know if that is generally true, this is the only model I have ever owned. Long story short the company I bought the TV from replaced it because "pixel death" (regardless of quantity) fell under the warranty terms, and so they gave the newer version of that model which is this TV (Sharp Aquos LC32D44U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV). Again ~10 months later 1 or 2 pixels have starting going out. I guess I will learn to accept it (it's hardly noticeable unless up close to the TV when it is 720p resolution). I also find the volume doesn't quite go as high as I would like- probably a consequence on the small speakers on the bottom of the TV. After about the 30 setting (out of 60) it doesn't seem to get much louder. Also when going from a really bright shot to a really dark one (in a movie or TV show) the screen will adjust its brightness accordingly and I haven't figured out yet how to correct this. Other than that I think the TV is great, great controls and options for customization of different feature, great menus. Awesome picture in 720. Easy to use remote. Plenty of ports in the back for multiple systems/units to hook up to it.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can you help me calibrate my new Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
I just bought the 65" Sharp Aquos LCD TV from Costco. Model # LC-C6554U.When we got it out of the box the picture was terrible with mostly the skin tones looking orangish and red. I played with it and got it better, but not perfect. The guy at the store said to download some sort of DVD online to calibrate it. Any suggestions? Or does anyone have the professional calibration for this particular set?
Answer:
Hmm, orangish and RED...that sounds like EXCESSIVE color saturation to me....Turn down the color control, make sure your TINT is right down the middle, the brightness is MID-WAY and your PICTURE / CONTRAST is set to MAXIMUM....Now look at the picture.....Do you think it looks normal or not ?Are you looking at LOW DEF or Hi DEF?Look at Hi Def....Now if you are STILL unsure about the picture, there's always BLACK AND WHITE TV SHOWS to verify PROPER Registration.Black and White has a VERY DISTINCT blending or Red , Green and Blue that creates a very GRAY gray...not Red/Gray or Green/Gray.That's why it's PERFECT to use for initial verification of whether a TV is properly white-balanced or not....If you turn off the color, and you go to say...Nickolodeon, and you find Mc Hale's Navy or The Dick Van Dyke show or one of the 60's shows that was recorded, then you found the PUREST Black and White that you can trust for this test...I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island (only the B/W ones!) are the ones to use too. It's gotta be gray...If it's not, swap out your TV quickly before the EXCHANGE timetable expires !

Question : Why does my sharp lcd aquos tv black out the bottom half of the screen sometimes?
If I change the channel or hit one of the display buttons it returns to a normal full screen. It only started doing this in the last 2 day. I am wondering if it will get worse. I have only had the tv about one year.
Answer:
Black out, if the picture completely gone in the bottom area something wrong with the scanning process for the bottom area. But if it just get darken in the bottom area, the backlight for the bottom is fail to lead (small possibilities).

Question : How good is the Sharp LC52XD1E lcd tv?
it looks pretty impressive to me, but wondered what others who have one think of it??!
Answer:
Readers' Choice: HDTV Survey 09.20.06 Download Now: HDTVs.pdf Total posts: 13 It's about time. This year, along with satellite radios, we add HDTVs to the mix. And, as you might expect, readers rate all sorts of vendors offering all sorts of HD technologies, from plasma TVs and rear-projections to good ol' CRTs. But two companies stand out: Pioneer and Sony.If you look at the overall scores across all technologies, Pioneer is king, with a significantly above-average overall score of 9.0 out of 10. This has a lot do with the fact that readers prefer plasmas to all other HD technologies. Pioneer is one of the biggest plasma vendors, and it's the lone Readers' Choice for this segment of the market, with a 9.1 out of 10. It's also the Readers' Choice for rear-projection TVs, with an 8.7.In the big picture, across all technologies, Sony is just behind Pioneer, with an overall score of 8.5, and it receives a Readers' Choice award for CRTs (8.4), and LCDs (8.6). Readers also shared their experiences with front-projection TVs, but Sony was the only vendor rated. And because Sony received only 50 responses in total, a Readers' Choice in that niche category will have to wait until next year. PioneerNo one comes close. Pioneer garners the highest overall score. Question : How would you rate a 26 inch Samsung and Sharp LCD TV/PC Monitor?
I am thinking of buying one of these to use as a PC monitor and to watch tv. ratio is about 5000:1 on both models.Do you have any other suggestions?
Answer:
Samsung and Philips/Magnavox have the highest failure rates and no support and parts once out of warranty.Samsungs have poor picture and poor designed products.Sharp hase OK LCDs but poor support as well, alot of the Sharps have been having problems with their LCD Displays comming apart. The best LCDs are the Sony, good support and alot better quality than any. Many people have found "banding" on Sharp Aquos TVs. It has been a topic of discussion on the AVS forum for some time, but it has died down. Apparently some sets are ok, but many are not. If you can look at the TV before it is delivered, you can check for banding by looking at picture with large uniform areas of a light blue color. If you can see it, ask for another set. If you can get a set without banding, reports are that this set has the best HD picture around.Seehttp://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10506896#post10506896andhttp://www.avsforu m.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10400759#post10400759Don't try to read all, but scan through some of the later comments to see what some people have found.

Question : Sharp Aquos LCD TV: Can I do anything about the delay when switching channels?
I bought a Sharp LC-32D40U. When I switch channels it takes 2-3 seconds before the image appears. Quite annoying. Is there anything I can do about that? Are there any LCD TV's which have a better performance?
Answer:
Yeah alot of the newer TVs have Very sensitive tuners. So what happens is the TVs are thinking and deciding what format to display it best. Some TVs are better, such as the Sony Xbr series LCDs and also the new Samsung like the LNS3251D.

Question : Any ideas where they repair screens on Sharp Aquos LCD tv's?
I have a 46 inch Sharp Aquos LCD TV and the screen cracked while moving it around the house. Do yall have any ideas what should i do to fix it.
Answer:
I'm sorry to say this, but the last time an LCD panel was damaged, the cost of the panel was the same price as a new TV set was....Warehousing parts adds to the cost of a SINGLE PART...and that's the BIGGEST and most costly part in the whole TV set !

Question : Trying to hook up sharp lcd tv to dell pc - do i use the hdmi on the tv to vga plug on computer?
Sharp - LC-37BD6X tv to Dell 530 desk top -the best way to hook up tv.cable length 5 meters
Answer:
You cant go VGA to hdmi, but you can go DVI to HDMI. If your computer has DVI it will be a white colored connector on your video card. If your TV has a VGA port you can also go that route.
