Customer Review :
very pleased with lucky choice
When I decided to get an LCD TV, I shopped on line a bit and settled on this one, thinking the Sharp name would be enough to ensure a decent product. I am more than pleased with my decision. The picture on this TV, even with just rabbit ears, is outstanding. The sound is excellent, too, which is something I was worried about with a flat panel; however, I was pleasantly surprised.
I chose this model because of the 1080 resolution and the cabinet style, which I think is the most attractive out there for TVs of this type. The base allows the panel to rotate about 110 degrees, which is very nice and not particularly common with these things. I bought the red one (it's really more burgundy, but that's hard to tell from the pictures), and am glad I got such a unique set; it matches my crib. The auto brightness feature is great, especially for a bedroom, where I use my TV. Setup was easy and virtually everything is pretty intuitive without having to read the manual.
The cons are: cheesy remote with cheap feel and poor key layout (I bought a Sharp blu-ray at same time, and it came with much more functional remote with better feel); the fact that you have to toggle thru inputs on remote (see other reviews); on-screen display of menu items is too small, although it is neatly laid out. Although it offers stereo audio and subwoofer line-level outputs, I don't like the switching on these. I want to use the TV's speakers along with my stereo; I can do this, but I am not able to control output level to stereo (stereo volume) from TV as switching to variable line level output on TV turns off the TV speakers, which I need for realistic sound staging. I know they did this because they think this is what most people would want, but not I. Seems like a simple firmware matter to offer one more selection for audio output configuration.
Overall, though, I'm highly pleased. For years I lived without a TV (by choice) and then with only rabbit ears. I've already tried the digital converter box (govt. cheese) on my old tube set and the reception was poor (unlike this TV, which is great with just rabbit ears). So I caved in and did what Big Brother hoped I would with the digital switch: bought a new tv and signed up for pay service, which I'm getting next month. Next year if I find I'm watching enough to justify it, I'll move this set to the kithcen/office and buy a bigger LCD for the bedroom, probably for less than what I paid for this one (about $860 from Amazon in early December 2008).

High Quality 32" LCD
I am extremely pleased with the overall quality of this television. While it is a bit on the pricey side for a 32", the quality of the picture (in both SD and HD) is amazing. I purchased mine refurbished, saving a few hundred dollars, but it is worth the money.
Pros:
Superior SD and HD quality picture Wonderful viewing angles - No picture degradation Good audio for an LCD 3 HDMI inputs (including one on the side of the unit, which is helpful for wall mounting, which I have done) Tons of options for adjusting the picture settings Great design 1080p
Cons: A bit pricey for the 32" size (Some of the 1080p 32" sets are now around $750) Power up time and input changing speed are average
It is hard to find a TV larger than 22" with a white bezel, and this is the only option out there that isn't several years old.
I highly recommend this TV if you are looking for a unique color (Red, White), 1080p, and a high quality picture.

The best 1080p and the best overall LCD....no comparison - hands down
This HDTV is provides the most vivid, stunning picture I have ever seen. I spent over 3 months shopping for a 32" true 1080p with very high contrast ratio and excellent overall picture. The only model that comes close to this is the similar Samsung DNIe in 32" class. This is my first HDTV and it is used a computer monitor, gaming monitor, and TV. It has so many inputs I could probably use it for 5 other things. The design is slim, the weight with the stand is only 40lbs. The picture is - flat out - unbeatable. Go to any major retailer and spend some real time and you'll know. There is NOTHING like AQUOS. Sharp knows the technology, and this is their flagship product. I recommend anyone shopping in the 32" class 1080p - spend the extra few hundred. It is NOT for the name. It is for the quality, and there are very few brands I can say that about. 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 6ms response time will show you the future of high definition LCDs.

This a great tv and the picture quality for HD channels is excellent. I also play my PS3 games with my this tv and I have to say that there is unbelievable sharpness with PS3 games. Overall picture quality and sound are great and the game button on the remote is very convenient. It helps while switching between game and tv programs. Setup was very easy with no hassel at all.

Good TV
I found one dead pixel on this TV, but I guess if you don't want dead pixels then you have to test it in a shop and buy one in a shop instead of buying it online. I also found that it takes some for the grey-to-black, you can see ghosting effect. Also, consistent with the other reviews, it doesn't come with very good speakers, so better use some external speakers. I game a lot with my PS3 using this TV (the dead pixel still annoys me a lot, I guess when you get a Full HD you kinda demand perfection), and somehow it's harder to see the images when there's a lot of sunlight, requiring me to sit closer (and I have 25/20 vision). Overall, this is a good TV comparing price for price with other brands. With Sharp' new Kameyama state-of-the-art factory though, you'd think that they would have up-ed their quality a bit more.

We did not buy this Sharp Aquos because it is a gaming TV, but because we saw it next to TVs in the same price range at one of the electronics chains, and the Sharp picture blew the others away. Even though we knew we would save almost $200 buying the TV online, we were a little nervous about buying from TigerDirect through Amazon. We took the plunge, though, and the TV arrived in a matter of days in perfect condition. The set-up with our HD DVR was a little difficult, and calls to Time Warner weren't much help when the support person insisted the 480i showing on the DVR was the DVR model number. We finally went to Time Warner's Web site and found the information we needed to get the set up to maximum resolution. We have had the TV a couple of months now and are very happy with it. A word to the wise -- if your order with Amazon "suggests" you purchase a Bargaincell HDMI cable for an extra $1.98, pass on it. We ordered the cable, and the audio was nonfunctional.

Perfect so far
Bought this for the computer room with a wall mount and its performed perfect. you wont go wrong with this TV , great color and picture with Directv HD ,also hooked to Digital cable and is just as impressive a picture. Also hooked Toshiba DvD player ,Good picture for a non-HD or Blueray, and have PS2 that has a Ok picture but consider the RCA hookup. End word ---------- worth the money !!!!!!!!!

Greatest HDTV I have ever bought.
This TV is phenomenal, the picture is incredible, it looks great and it's not that heavy. I have my PS3, X-box 360 and Wii all connected to this tv and it's so simple to switch in between them. I also used it as a computer monitor and Oh MY GOD! Counterstrike on a 1920x1080 resolution is insane! Probably the best TV I have ever owned. I also suggest getting 5.1 speakers for this TV because the TV has a problem with bass. It tends to overpower the speakers so get what I got, Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 =Amazing. I highly recommend it and buy it from NEWEGG it's 850 bucks in Total, fast shipping and great service.

Bought two. Both emit crackling sounds on or off. Suspect cheap capacitors or speakers. Picture quality is poor.

Crappy experience
My wife and I purchased this TV set due to the reputation of the sharp name. We made the purchase in June of 2009 and the tv has a one year warranty. Trouble is the company wants us to: 1) come up with the original receipt. Well I lost that unfortunately and asked them for the info I provided them via the online warranty registration. (for those that do not know even if you keep original receipts most stores use thermal paper in the registers which blackens and makes them illedgible after a short time)
2) PAY for the shipping and insurance to get the piece of crap back to them. (I think this is really poor considering I bought it in good faith and it is not my fault it is defective)
3) if they "deem that it was not packaged "properly" you won't be covered and there is a $50 evaluation fee
4) this model must be sent back to the factory for repairs
On a different note the sound quality is really crap we hooked it up to our stereo so we could HEAR it in the first place

BUYER BEWARE THIS IS A LEMON!!
After bringing it home I really regretted it because the volume is so LOW, it is often hard to hear and you can not raise the volume beyond the level of a regular speaking voice.
Other than that it was an okay TV EXCEPT, ONE YEAR TO THE WEEK, I turn it on this morning and NO PICTURE. The sound comes on and when I change stations they change but still no picture.
I spoke to a tech at 1 800 BE SHARP and they advised me to unplug it for a time which I tried and did not work.
I live in NEW YORK CITY and there is NO REPAIR location. I got the impression there were NO AUTHORIZED repair locations ANYWHERE and the only thing they are willing to do, even though under warranty, is ALLOW ME TO SHIP IT BACK ...
AND I EVEN HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING TO THEM.
I searched on the web and found that a LOT OF PEOPLE are losing the PICTURE in their SHARP FLAT SCREEN LCD TV's.
Sharp made good tube TV's, but I'm afraid the digital age seems to have left them in the dust.
My lesson: NEVER BUY ANOTHER ELECTRONIC APPLIANCE PRODUCED OR SOLD BY SHARP.
I'll go for quality and not CHEAPNESS next time.

This TV would've been perfect but for the poor sound quality. I plan on buying computer speakers for this TV just to boost the poor sound quality.

A fine little Television
I wanted a TV for my home office and felt a 19 inch set would be more than adequate. We own a 36" Sharp for our downstairs family room which is now about 3 1/2 years old. We love its picture and quality so I looked for a Sharp if possible.
I found this set at Wal-Mart for $168.00 which I thought was a good price. All I did was unpack it, attach the coaxial cable and plug it in. I haven't fussed with any adjustments. The sound is perfectly fine for my 12' by 9' foot office. I think this set is great for this kind of location or in a kitchen.

Calibration settings and review for Sharp LC-C4067UN
Hi,
This TV is by no means perfect, but I think it's good value for 1080p. I was a bit paranoid about the TV being 60Hz vs 120Hz, but have found no major issues. I have the TV about 4 weeks and have watched football, ice hockey, track and field and a few blue ray movies on a PS3 and saw no major problems. The film mode in the advanced menu also seems to handle the 3:2 pull down of cable 1080i HD movies very well, so this option should be switched on (see below). 480i also looks pretty good after calibration.
On to calibration.
Out of the box, the settings are not optimal (are they ever). For calibration, I followed a guide from CurtPalme, henceforth known as "Kal's Guide".
This guide helps you to adjust grayscale and color to get a professional grade calibration. To use Kal's Guide, you need:
1. The ColorHCFR software (free download). 2. An external color meter.I used Eye-One Display 2 (I'm a serious amateur photographer and already owned it for computer monitor calibration). 3. A calibration DVD; Digital Video Essentials-HD Basics, (I used the Blue Ray version), OR, AVS HD 709 calibration disk (free download).
The AVS HD 709 software is burned on a regular DVD but you need a Blue Ray player to play it. Note, if you use this, you need to identify the correct greyscale patterns yourself.
This TV has no RGB adjustments for brightness or contrast (called RGBLowEnd and RGBHighEnd in Kal's Guide, sometimes known as RGB bias and RGB gain), so this portion of the grayscale calibration had to be skipped. However, the CMS system allows individual adjustment of RGB for value (brightness), hue and saturation, which is much better than a simple color and hue adjustment.
First off, I ran through both grayscale and primary/secondary color calibrations with the factory settings to see where I was at. I used the default "User" picture settings as the starting point. If you're not interested in the technical details, skip this section and scroll down to the section RECOMMENDED CALIBRATION SETTINGS FOR LC-C4067UN. Here is a summary of the results with the out-of the box "User" settings.
The deltaE (% error from D65) values for 0 IRE to 100 IRE were as follows: 0 IRE: 123.8%, 10 IRE: 27.4%, 20 IRE: 28.4%, 30 IRE: 28.6%, 40 IRE: 30.6%, 50 IRE: 30.1%, 60 IRE: 29.8%, 70 IRE: 30.2%, 80 IRE: 29.7%, 90 IRE: 26.9%, 100 IRE: 22.7%.
According to Kal's Guide, a value of <10% is recommended across the entire greyscale range with a value of 3% considered as good as it gets. At around 30% across the board, we are a long way off.
Luminance: The average luminance curve looks OK, but individual colors are off (blue too high, red too low).
Gamma: Average is 2.25 (target is 2.2). However the average range from 0 IRE to 100 IRE is 2.1 to 2.39. Red is way off with a range of 2.12 to 2.84.
RGB Levels: Green is OK, but blue is 30% too high and red is 20% too low across the entire grayscale range. Good news is all curves are relatively flat, except in the 0 IRE - 10 IRE range. This is almost black, so you won't notice any variations here.
Color Temperature: Kal's Guide recommends not to pay too much attention to this, but for the record, it stays pretty flat across the range 0 IRE (black) to 100 IRE (white) at around 9000K (well above the 6500K target).
I didn't record the individual deltaE values for the primary and secondary colors, but according to Kal's Guide, a value of <10% is recommended across the board with a value of 3% considered as good as it gets. All values were in the high teens and 20s.
ADJUSTMENTS.
The white level was adjusted using contrast in the picture menu. This sets the peak luminance. The overall screen brightness and all color adjustments are derived from this value, so it's important to set this for your specific viewing conditions. Kal's Guide recommends a target luminance of 30-40 ftL, which is geared towards viewing in a color-controlled environment i.e. a darkened room. I started here (at 35ftL) and found this setting worked as it should for a dark room at night, but was much too low for daylight viewing (no shadow detail). If you want to use these settings, they are in parenthesis below.
I decided to recalibrate and used a value of around 54ftL instead. I found this works well for daylight viewing and am also happy with it for nighttime viewing in dim light. Note: Backlight was toned down to -6 before contrast adjustment. (You may want to be even higher than 54ftL if you watch in a really bright room or close to a window during the day)
The black level was set according to Kal's Guide and was adjusted using brightness. As mentioned, this TV doesn't have RGB grayscale adjustment in the user menu, so that's it for grayscale adjustment (unless you figure out how to further adjust in the service menus - I didn't go there). Following the above adjustments, the following results were achieved.
The deltaE values for 0 IRE to 100 IRE grayscale were as follows: 0 IRE: 150%, 10 IRE: 7.9%, 20 IRE: 5.7%, 30 IRE: 9.4%, 40 IRE: 9.8%, 50 IRE: 9.5%, 60 IRE: 9.8%, 70 IRE: 10.7%, 80 IRE: 10.5%, 90 IRE: 10.2%, 100 IRE: 9.9%. Except for pure black, this is getting close to being < 10% across the range. I wasn't able to get it any better than this.
Luminance: Now blue and green are right on target but red showed only a slight improvement from before (too low).
Gamma: Average is a little higher at around 2.27. The average range from 0 IRE to 100 IRE was tightened. Red is improved but still shows the most variation.
RGB Levels: Red and blue are now around 5-10% below target across the range and green is right on as before. Again all curves are relatively flat, except in the 0 IRE - 10 IRE range. This is almost black, so you won't notice any variations here.
Color Temperature: Sits on 6500K line but tails off a little to 6200K at 100 IRE. This is a vast improvement over the default.
Primary and secondary colors were adjusted using the CMS Hue, Saturation and Value settings in the advanced menu to get values as close as possible to the recommended settings in Kal's Guide for the HDTV REC 709 standard. Following the tweaks, the deltaE values for the primary and secondary colors were as follows; R: 14.8%, G: 8.8%, B: 5.3%, Y: 4.4%, C: 9.7%, M: 7.3%. My goal was to get everything less than 10% per Kal's Guide. I tried numerous iterations and wasn't able to get red much better than around 14%.
RECOMMENDED CALIBTATION SETTINGS FOR LC-C4067UN (Dark room viewing settings shown in parenthesis). Use these only if you always watch TV in the dark.
Picture menu. OPC: OFF Backlight: -6 (-11) Contrast: 32 (18) Brightness: -5 (-5) Color: 0 (0) Tint: 0 (0) Sharpness: 0 (0)

If any pros out there have any suggestions on how to improve the "red" setting while maintaining good values for everything else, please let me know. Skin tones don't seem to be affected, but in a "red-looking scene", e.g. low color temperature setting such as low tungsten light or sunsets, the "red" effect looks a touch saturated for my taste.
Regards.

Added a dvr to my Sharp tv and all channels are HD format. 3 in. black screen on both sides. Time Warner says the dvr box is not to blame, view mode on tv remote has 4 options, all with small picture. How can i get full screen on non HD channels?
Answer:
look for a picture control that says: "picture size" or "aspect ratio" on both your TV AND your DVR

Question : Why does my sharp lcd aquos tv black out the bottom half of the screen sometimes?
If I change the channel or hit one of the display buttons it returns to a normal full screen. It only started doing this in the last 2 day. I am wondering if it will get worse. I have only had the tv about one year.
Answer:
Black out, if the picture completely gone in the bottom area something wrong with the scanning process for the bottom area. But if it just get darken in the bottom area, the backlight for the bottom is fail to lead (small possibilities).

Question : Can you help me calibrate my new Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
I just bought the 65" Sharp Aquos LCD TV from Costco. Model # LC-C6554U.When we got it out of the box the picture was terrible with mostly the skin tones looking orangish and red. I played with it and got it better, but not perfect. The guy at the store said to download some sort of DVD online to calibrate it. Any suggestions? Or does anyone have the professional calibration for this particular set?
Answer:
Hmm, orangish and RED...that sounds like EXCESSIVE color saturation to me....Turn down the color control, make sure your TINT is right down the middle, the brightness is MID-WAY and your PICTURE / CONTRAST is set to MAXIMUM....Now look at the picture.....Do you think it looks normal or not ?Are you looking at LOW DEF or Hi DEF?Look at Hi Def....Now if you are STILL unsure about the picture, there's always BLACK AND WHITE TV SHOWS to verify PROPER Registration.Black and White has a VERY DISTINCT blending or Red , Green and Blue that creates a very GRAY gray...not Red/Gray or Green/Gray.That's why it's PERFECT to use for initial verification of whether a TV is properly white-balanced or not....If you turn off the color, and you go to say...Nickolodeon, and you find Mc Hale's Navy or The Dick Van Dyke show or one of the 60's shows that was recorded, then you found the PUREST Black and White that you can trust for this test...I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island (only the B/W ones!) are the ones to use too. It's gotta be gray...If it's not, swap out your TV quickly before the EXCHANGE timetable expires !

Question : No component channel on my Sharp LCD TV?
I tried hooking up my xbox 360 to my small sharp LCD tv using the cables and hooking them all up in the right place, however all my tv has is AV1 and AV2, even though it says component on the side of the tv where you plug them in, under AV2. No sound of video is displayed on AV1 or AV2, and there is no HDTV switch on my cords. The cords are phillips.
Answer:
Its more than likely that the TV is not HD ready, is it an older or cheaper model?can you switch the xbox to non HD output?AV2 will be the component input, yellow for video , red and white for audio.

Question : I currently have a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD tv, and am debating whether or not to buy a BluRay player. Worth it?
I had read somewhere that the difference on the smaller LCD screens when comparing Bluray to DVD is not that much of a difference. Is this true?
Answer:
in my experience, you don't know it's better until you've been exposed to it. i didn't believe that bluray could be that much better than regular DVD until i watched a couple movies that i have on both formats. the clarity is amazing and sound quality is tremendous. that being said, it only works if you have the supporting cast, such as an HDMI input/output (a bluray player will have the output) and high quality sound receiver (the tv speakers don't do this part justice). i would suggest getting one if you have an extra $200 laying around and if you're a gamer of any kind, you end up spending $100 more for a PS3 (it comes with a bluray player).

Question : Will someone help me hook my PC up to my Sharp LCD tv?
I bought a vga to s-video cable on Amazon and also an extension wire.Whenever I hook them up I can only see black and white streaks on the TV,and when I move the mouse a small line moves.(LC-20AV7U)is the tv's code. Please Help!!!
Answer:
After you have the cables hooked up properly, you need to go into your display settings and see if you need to change settings there. When I hook my laptop up to my tv I have to go to my display settings and change a few things. I don't know your settings because all video cards and tv's are different. Just right click on your desktop and go to properties then display settings. Im sure you will find what you need to do there. Hope this helps

Answer:
Read the INSTRUCTION BOOK from beginning to end to become "acquainted" with your TV set....It'll be faster and better than "guessing" what is wrong here.....Yep, my first SONY back in the 80's was soooo complicated, that I spent 6 HOURS guessing why I couldn't get a picture.....THEN I spent ONE HOUR reading the setup part of the manual and it was FULLY Functional......Sheesh, why didn't I do that in the FIRST PLACE ?!!So, read your manual.....Fix it right the first time....
