great TV
This is an outstanding TV. Bright clear picture, clean motion, lots of inputs. I considered the comparable Samsungs but did not like the shiny screen or frame. The picture quality was indistinguishable to my eyes in the store. I ultimately settled on Sharp due to the reports of extraordinary customer service for Sharp vs. much less satisfaction with Samsung customer service. I have not been disappointed with the Sharp so far.
Update - After nearly 6 weeks, the wall mount finally arrived. Thumbs up for Sharp, thumbs down for Abe's of Maine.
I would have rather purchased the TV from Amazon, but they do not sell this model direct. So, I bought from Abe's of Maine, who offered no tax, free shippping and a free wall mount. This made their price substantially less than other vendors; moreover, Abe's was highly rated as a vendor. My experience? I cannot recommend Abe's of Maine (actually, Abe's of New Jersey). After I ordered the TV online, I got an e-mail to call them to discuss the order. Not surprisingly, a high pressure salesman tried to get me to upgrade everything from the mode of delivery, to the free wall mount, to an extended warranty, even to a different TV. I did upgrade the delivery as what came for free was "curbside delivery" and got a mount that was thinner (and tiltable) compared to the "free mount" that was included with the TV which was not tiltable. After about 2.5 weeks, the TV showed up. Delivery was quick and easy and the driver helped me remove the TV from the box and set it up. But the wall mount I ordered was not included, forcing me to scramble to find a solution to put the TV on temporarily. So far, I am still waiting for the wall mount, more than a week after reporting it missing.
Bottom line - This Sharp is one fine TV. Abe's of Maine was disappointing.

Unbelievable!!!
I was blown away at the price for this tv. Adorama Camera always has unbelievable deals...The Sharp Aquos is 120 hertz refresh rate, 1080p, detachable speaker and a very classy finish - kind of a black matte around the tv. I like it much better than the smooth shiny plastic most tvs have.

Still happy after a whole year
I purchased this TV about a year ago and watch it daily. I really enjoy the display, even in well lit areas. The matte finish was non-negotiable for me. The room I have it in has many light sources, and even though they are all visible from the dispaly, none are reflected back from the matte finish on the display. Compare that to the new Samsung's that are extremely reflective and are best used in darker areas.
When I was deciding which display to purchase, I visited Best Buy several times to compare this and other sets. To this day, the LC52SE94U remains the best looking set on the wall, at least to me. If I had it to do over again, I'd have bought the same TV. When I win the lottery, I'll get the bigger version.
Here's my rundown of pro's and con's:
Pros: * Matte display * Attractive bezel * Removable Speakers * Lots of inputs * 120-Hz much more pleasing to the eye than the competition
Cons: * Lack of DVI input * Auto Brightness feature annoying * Stand does not swivel
If you're mounting this to the wall, and have a single HDMI cable coming from an upconverting receiver, it's nearly perfect. It will be interesting to see what OLED TV's look like and how it will affect the price of existing LCD TV's.

Wow!
This TV is fantastic. Just a month before we purchased a 42" Sharp Aquos, and as fantastic as it is, it does not even compare to this one. The picture is fantastic and the way it links to the Bluray player is cool. We are very pleased.

great LCD bad pixels
Update #3/ BB has picked it up and I will check my account for a credit today. So far BB is perfect. Be sure to leave your TV on for 36 hours and then check a channel with a blank screen for stuck on pixels. These will only get worse folks.
Original review, BB delivered this a few hours ago and I have it up and running without a hitch. It is as thin in places as the Samsung 850 but not over the whole cabinet. Picture is perfect. The manual doesn't mention 120MHZ video but Demo Mode does
"You can select the image from 3 types of demo mode. Mode 1: 120Hz Fine motion advanced with the picture. Mode 2: 120Hz Fine motion advanced. Mode 3: AQUOS net."
Advanced menu says
"Fine Motion Advanced Use Fine Motion Advanced to view fast-action video more clearly. On: For obtaining a clearer image. Off: No adjustment. Fine Motion Advanced may cause image noise. If this occurs, turn the function "Off"."
So I am not sure what all that means and will be testing it over the next few days to see what is up with the 120MHZ.
So far a very fine LCD with no problems. It tagged my free 21U on the HDMI inputs and allowed me to lable it as BD21U.
Stand by for more info later. Update/the speaker terminals and external speaker bar rocks. I assume you could hook up a couple of speakers to those outputs?
Update2/ the series """Sharp LC-52XS1U-S"""is the thin one and not the 94 series limited edition. I did not know this since none of the stores had the 94 series on display. I am still happy with the product but may have got the Samsung 850 if I knew that. Maybe. LOL/still a great TV.
Bad news//second day and bad pixels. At this point in time I am seeing how painful the [...] pickup/return/credit will be. Since I got a geek squad install and several free items I am wondering if that will all get credited correctly(what a mess plus they hauled off the boxes). If it does I will post the good news here.

Customer Review :
As expected
As others have said, the sound level is rather low (but fine for a bedroom) and there is an annoying lag between channels when surfing, but the picture quality is quite good, I've had no problem playing DVDs, and in general I am quite satisfied.

You would have to be an idiot to...
buy this product. Not only is it almost $200 over list price.... it's almost the same price as a 42" LG. A dvd player will run you about $50 if you look around for one. Anyone spending $700 on a 19" tv should have their head examined. Rule of thumb... if you are looking for a tv (or anything for that matter)... start with your price range first!

Because Zero stars isn't an option
I bought this TV as a gift for my wife. Within 6 months, the power supply is dead. The power supply may be undersized to accomodate the built-in DVD player. Of course, no one will take for repairs so i guess it will clutter the land fill. This is a truly awful product. Stay away.

Surprise,surprise!
When I finally received my free HDTV from Verizon (about three months after it was promised) I couldn't wait to try it out to see if it really worked. All I can say is WOW! Loaded with features, beautiful picture when used with FiOS, easy to use--well worth the wait.
The set fits in great where I wanted it to. It's not the biggest TV in the world (what do you expect for free?) but it's a great little set.

Very Nice
I'll put this here because I'm not subscribing to some goofy forum just to give a review, and all the Verizon Fios customers are trying to figure out what's up. They are giving these away free with their service bundle, but can tell you nothing, I mean nothing. They don't have to because people are willing to walk on coals to sign up. Straight scoop, picture is great on this tv. All the options in the world, so you have to mess with the setup a bit. Hint: choose picture option vivid. Fios is way good enough, standard without HD, on this 19". I say save your HD money for the big screen set. Hooked up Phillips 5982 DVD 1080i upconverter to this, $59. Way cool resolution and picture. Check out the reviews on that. Also, the sound truly is inadequate, but not a problem, because every 19" is way inadequate. No worries. It has a headphone mini jack output in the back. It also has optical audio out in the back, but that is way overkill for a 19". Back to the mini jack. Hooked up Cambridge Soundworks, $79, oh my my. You can hook up any PC speakers to this. Went direct, no additional volume control needed. You control the sound through your blaster. It cuts off the TV speakers, like you need those. Also, this TV has the same specs as the Aquos version, except no goofy magnetic remote control. Oh, yeah, use your Fios STB remote to run the TV, DVD and STB. It works great. Follow the insructions provided by Verizon on the remote control, make all the units turn off and on at the same time.

Piece of Junk
Purchased at Circuit City at a great price but you get what you pay for. 1 month after the purchase the HDMI port no longer worked and 3 months later the set will not power up. The warranty is 90 days parts and labor and 1 year parts so in order to fix the set I will have to shell out more than I paid for it in labor costs. Currently pleading with support to pay for the labor since it's only 1 month out of warranty.

Great little TV
I got this TV 2 years ago, free, with Verizon FiOS. It's still working perfect. Picture is great but fyi I was getting rid of a 20" CRT TV with this. The sound is good, clear, maybe a little tinny, but it's fine for what it is. There are 2 things I would have appreciated knowing. 1) The viewing angle can't be adjusted very much up and down. I have the TV up on a tallboy dresser and had to put a book under the rear to tilt the angle of the TV downward so I could view in bed. 3) The screen isn't very bright. I have it on the brightest setting and it's still very dark. During dark scenes I sometimes lose distinction on what's on screen.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can you help me calibrate my new Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
I just bought the 65" Sharp Aquos LCD TV from Costco. Model # LC-C6554U.When we got it out of the box the picture was terrible with mostly the skin tones looking orangish and red. I played with it and got it better, but not perfect. The guy at the store said to download some sort of DVD online to calibrate it. Any suggestions? Or does anyone have the professional calibration for this particular set?
Answer:
Hmm, orangish and RED...that sounds like EXCESSIVE color saturation to me....Turn down the color control, make sure your TINT is right down the middle, the brightness is MID-WAY and your PICTURE / CONTRAST is set to MAXIMUM....Now look at the picture.....Do you think it looks normal or not ?Are you looking at LOW DEF or Hi DEF?Look at Hi Def....Now if you are STILL unsure about the picture, there's always BLACK AND WHITE TV SHOWS to verify PROPER Registration.Black and White has a VERY DISTINCT blending or Red , Green and Blue that creates a very GRAY gray...not Red/Gray or Green/Gray.That's why it's PERFECT to use for initial verification of whether a TV is properly white-balanced or not....If you turn off the color, and you go to say...Nickolodeon, and you find Mc Hale's Navy or The Dick Van Dyke show or one of the 60's shows that was recorded, then you found the PUREST Black and White that you can trust for this test...I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island (only the B/W ones!) are the ones to use too. It's gotta be gray...If it's not, swap out your TV quickly before the EXCHANGE timetable expires !

Question : Any ideas where they repair screens on Sharp Aquos LCD tv's?
I have a 46 inch Sharp Aquos LCD TV and the screen cracked while moving it around the house. Do yall have any ideas what should i do to fix it.
Answer:
I'm sorry to say this, but the last time an LCD panel was damaged, the cost of the panel was the same price as a new TV set was....Warehousing parts adds to the cost of a SINGLE PART...and that's the BIGGEST and most costly part in the whole TV set !

Question : How do I use my Sharp Aquos LCD TV as a computer screen for Sony Vaio PCG-K13 laptop?
I have a Sharp Aquos LCD TV that has DVI-I output and a sony Vaio with monitor port and I want to use the TV as a computer screen. I have a DVI cable to connect them, but when I do so nothing happens. DO I need something else, or do I need to change settings or otherwise do something else?
Answer:
There are a very few models of notebooks in the market that has a DVI output. Mostly are S-Video output. However, if you are sure that there is indeed a DVI output on your laptop computer, then you can hook it up to your LCD TV provided that you use a DVI to HDMI cable or if your Sharp Aquos has also a DVI input, then you can use a DVI-DVI cable to connect them.Once the two boxes are connected now, then its time for you to check your keys on the keyboard. Normally, there are key shortcuts there that you need to press so your laptop will switch from laptop display to LCD TV display. You can also do a dual display by going into your control panel. If you are using WindowsXP like what I am using,Go to START, tnen CONTROL PANEL... then... look for the Mobile Chipset that controls your laptops display. Adjust the settings according to your liking.Other than this, if you just want your LCD TV as your laptop display, just connect the HDMI cables, or even an inferior quality S-Video out (use a S-Video cable for this one), then use your keyboard shortcuts to switch displays.I used to do this thing too with my 24" LCD monitor and my HP laptop, so I can watch my movies from my laptop in a bigger screen.Good luck

Question : I currently have a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD tv, and am debating whether or not to buy a BluRay player. Worth it?
I had read somewhere that the difference on the smaller LCD screens when comparing Bluray to DVD is not that much of a difference. Is this true?
Answer:
in my experience, you don't know it's better until you've been exposed to it. i didn't believe that bluray could be that much better than regular DVD until i watched a couple movies that i have on both formats. the clarity is amazing and sound quality is tremendous. that being said, it only works if you have the supporting cast, such as an HDMI input/output (a bluray player will have the output) and high quality sound receiver (the tv speakers don't do this part justice). i would suggest getting one if you have an extra $200 laying around and if you're a gamer of any kind, you end up spending $100 more for a PS3 (it comes with a bluray player).

Question : what is wrong with my TV? I have a Sharp LCD tv (LC-15SH7U) and it will not turn on.?
When I push the power button the red light turns on for 3 seconds and then turns off and the TV does not turn on. What is wrong with my TV?
Answer:
It is indicating a fault, and it is in the fault detection self-protection mode. If there is an internal fault or component defect, it would have to be professionally serviced. Is the set still under warranty? If so, contact Customer Service as instructed in the owner's manual to get warranty service. If it is not under warranty, try this procedure before taking it to be diagnosed/repaired. Note: This procedure sometimes works for some digital TVs to reset it to factory default settings if the TV's memory got "wiped" due to a power surge or fluctuation. It will not work if there is an internal fault, defect or component failure.1. Unplug the TV from AC power and leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes.2. After that time, and before plugging it back in, press and hold the TV's main Power On/Off switch (button) for about 10 seconds. Release the power button.3. Plug the TV back in. Press the Power On/Off switch as you normally would to turn on the TV. If it powers up - great! If not, try pressing and holding the Power On/Off switch for about 10 seconds or until the TV powers up, whichever comes first.4. If it still will not power up, this indicates that there is an internal malfunction. It could be a blown fuse or power protection circuit, or a blown power filter/surge capacitor, or it could be worse. There's no way to really tell without troubleshooting the set to determine the cause of the fault condition.

Question : Sharp LCD TV has hardly any sound. Why?
I just bought my first HDTV, a Sharp 26" LCD. I have the volume on full blast but it's barely audible 20 feet away. Is this because these new TV's are designed to be hooked up to a home system? I have a little shoot-ash portable TV that makes more noise.
Answer:
maybe the audio is not set right. set it to stereo.

Question : Sharp LCD TV for xbox 360?
I know the market is huge...which makes me feel totally clueless here. im wondering, is the Sharp brand good for a gaming TV? here is what i am considering, SHARP 46" LC-46SB54U LCD TV. any input would be great! thanks :)
Answer:
I would recommend looking at plasma TVs instead, especially at these sizes. LCD screens are prone to blurring and so called "artifacts" during fast motion pictures.I would specifically recommend looking at the panasonic viera series if you want to get the best out of your X360. These panels seems to stick out above the rest in the 46" range, LCD and plasma alike. Have a look at the included source if you want to read up on wich screen would best suit your needs.

Question : Sharp Aquos LCD TV: Can I do anything about the delay when switching channels?
I bought a Sharp LC-32D40U. When I switch channels it takes 2-3 seconds before the image appears. Quite annoying. Is there anything I can do about that? Are there any LCD TV's which have a better performance?
Answer:
Yeah alot of the newer TVs have Very sensitive tuners. So what happens is the TVs are thinking and deciding what format to display it best. Some TVs are better, such as the Sony Xbr series LCDs and also the new Samsung like the LNS3251D.

Question : Trying to hook up sharp lcd tv to dell pc - do i use the hdmi on the tv to vga plug on computer?
Sharp - LC-37BD6X tv to Dell 530 desk top -the best way to hook up tv.cable length 5 meters
Answer:
You cant go VGA to hdmi, but you can go DVI to HDMI. If your computer has DVI it will be a white colored connector on your video card. If your TV has a VGA port you can also go that route.
