Great purchase
I could not be happier with this TV. Even I, the lowest tech wise person in the world, could easily assemble the unit, put it in the cabinet, follow the directions to program the channels, and found remote user friendly. The picture is great and the sound is very good. I needed a TV that would fit into my exsisting cabinet and this one is perfect. The price was around the same as I found in town, however no one here had them in stock. I got this TV in under a week's time. More than satisfied with this TV.

Feature packed great starter HDTV
Getting a new HDTV can be as tough a decision as a buying new computer. Comparing all of the specifications, brands and sale prices every weekend can be daunting. Two rules: Never pay full price and always choose quality over quantity(size in this case.)
I purchased this TV during the holidays as a gift for myself. There have been a few "deals" below $300 on 32" sets from different companies. I knew those would be inferior products and I was torn between this and its brother 504 model. I ultimately determined that the 504 was a special holiday version made probably made with a few cheaper components for a better profit margin and ordered this online from WallyWorld for 449, during the long site to store wait the price dropped to 399. I was credited the difference very easily with a phone call, and received the same rebate last week. The reason for ordering online was due to a 20% off promo (see rule #1.)
ONE ISSUE. The set I received has a little damage to the box. It didn't do anything cosmetically to the set, but there was an issue with the picture. In a couple of areas, there was a slightly lighter dark gray area when is should be black. When I noticed this at home, I was pretty perturbed. Especially after waiting 10 days. To determine whither to return or exchange, I scoured the internet for a term and prevalence and for it was called clouding, but was only in reference to much older LED TVs. I believe it was due to the handling, not build quality. My replacement set is perfect!
If you are a tech person and want a big bang for your pick this is the way to go. There are many features that are not very common in 32" 720p sets such as: nice display adjustment (including backlight) treble, bass and balance audio adjustment and Picture in Picture(only when using PC and TV:There are NOT two tuners!) Don't hesitate to pull the trigger when you find this at the right price. 5 stars!

This was the first time I was ordering such a big ticket item online. I had no issues with the shipping and the product was well packaged. The television was easy to setup and works like a dream. Excellent picture quality and good sound. Excellent value for money.

Review of Sony Bravia TV
I'm impressed with the TV to date. I've used the TV for approx. two weeks and it's impressive. It's a 720, but the clarity of the picture is excellent. Need to adjust the "sound" occasionally, probably as a result of the various signals. I'm hoping "Tech support" will not be needed. Sony produces excellent televisions and I recommend this model.

Customer Review :
Well above average, with notable limitations
(Revised 2/21/2010: Sorry, folks, the Red push is just too much for the mrs and me. I'm attempting to return this set today, as further viewing with all that red and anemic blue is simply too annoying and can't be corrected. If you don't mind this -- to me -- serious problem, it's your choice. But surely SONY should be able to do better than this.) Purchased from eDirect before I found Amazon's listing. I was swayed by all the 5-star reviews at Amazon (nowadays, as viewed in showroom setups, there's no way to judge image quality). The mosquito noise seen in showrooms appears in my living room as well, though it's not as prominent as on other LCD's. As for comments about "great color", I'm not sure what that oft-used phrase is supposed to mean; this tv is deficient in Blue and has a 25% Red push that glows like neon and often bleeds like the reds on dirt-cheap store brand CRT's. The SONY at least has RGB adjustments, although RGB Gain can only be reduced, not increased -- a really odd design. In one picture mode, Red is pushed 34%, which looks bizarre but which apparently appeals to "great color" enthusiasts. Sadly, SONY doesn't provide color Y-level controls, not even in the miniscule service menu. In Cinema/Warm Mode the grayscale RGB is admirably flat except for a typically elevated Blue "leg" from 40-IRE on down; most LCD's have such grayscales, ostensibly to make blacks look darker (actually, it just makes blacks look blue, not black. The value R16G16B16 (digital black) is a color rarely seen on HDTV's). After some drastic and very tricky RGB adjustments with help from a colorimeter and HCFR software, blacks looked more neutral and the Red push was made at least tolerable, but high-red gamma suffered somewhat. At least it kept most skin tones from looking like terminal cases of third-degree burn, although fair-skinned people often have an unsightly hot-pink tint. The overall image is suitably contrasty and sharp, and SD sources look much cleaner than with most LCD's. With HD and SD, there's some noisy moire in fine-grained objects like sequinned gowns and heavy wool coats, and shimmer when very high-contrast objects move. But those effects are common on many LCDs. Low-IRE gamma is a bit aggressive, making some darks look rather inky, especially with BluRay; thankfully there's a backlight control that helps a bit. Motion is mostly handled well, even without 120-hz gimmicks (which don't work anyway, because refresh rate isn't the source of LCD motion blur). Turn off noise reduction, which adds its own artifacts and makes motion blur worse. Thankfully I haven't seen judder or stutter so far, but I saw a mild case of upscaling jaggies. With a pristine image source, the overall picture is better than average and looks quite sharp and snappy, without phony edge enhancement. I measured the real-world contrast at around 2100:1, an impressive figure, with excellent darks and crisp whites: black and white movies play nicely. Less perfect sources (low contrast, noisy, low-density scenes in fog, heavy rain, etc.) just look smeared and murky -- this is digital video's fault, not SONY's. BluRay looks very punchy and sharp, though BR compression artifacts are easy to spot. As far as a generally cleaner image is concerned, SD-DVD looks much better on this set than on other 26-inchers I've seen. At this size, the difference between 720 lines and 1080 couldn't be seen, even with a 37" 1080p sitting beside it. If your BluRay player outputs 720i or 720p, set it that way; HD-DVD downscaling doesn't play well here. The tuner is fairly fast; channel cruising is a bit slow, but I've seen much worse. Setup instructions warn that channel scanning takes 50 minutes; my scan found 100-plus cable stations in 12 minutes. Audio ain't great, but it's cleaner and louder than averege and works well from its coax output (but no headphone jack!). Viewing angle is narrow, about 15 degrees either side, a tad wider than some others. Overall I'd say it's an above-average LCD, aided by limited RGB controls but marred mostly by annoying Reds and absent the full-featured CIE adjustments found on some sets. It nicely replaces the average low-quality generic 20" or 24" CRT. But if your old, higher-end smallish CRT still works well and can be calibrated, stick with the tube.

Sony Bravia KDL-26L5000
We purchased this set from Amazon Warehouse and couldn't be more pleased. The description read there was a blemish on the housing, but after thoroughly looking it over, we couldn't find a single flaw! The picture quality is superb and the setup was very simple. It has everything you could ask for in a bedroom or small space HD TV.

This Tv is outstanding. It has a great picture. I plan to purchase another one in the near future.

Great except for extremely narrow viewing angle.
Great except for extremely narrow viewing angle. If you view the screen from any angle over 30º from dead on, the picture gets very light and unsaturated. Since this TV is in the bedroom, it isn't a big problem but is disappointing.

For consumers who want an HDTV that keeps pace with fast-action movies, sports, and game play, Sony BRAVIA V-Series Flat Panel HDTVs combine Full HD 1080p performance and Motionflow 120Hz technology for an amazing viewing experience. Motionflow 120Hz takes both high-definition and standard programming a step further by increasing sharpness and detail in fast-moving images for more fluid, natural motion. In addition, BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs use proprietary Image Blur Reduction technology to further enhance the picture for even better performance. The HDTVs also feature BRAVIA Engine 2 technology, which uses exclusive Sony algorithms to reduce visual noise and sharpen and enhance an already-striking dynamic contrast ratio. Additionally, they include seven versatile HD connections to ensure you get impressive image quality from all your HD components. Take advantage of four HDMI inputs, component and composite inputs, and a PC input, as well as a USB input that lets you play audio files from USB storage devices, or connect a compatible camera to your HDTV for a quick and easy slide show. Sony knows your home theater set-up doesn't stop with your HDTV, which is why the BRAVIA V-Series HDTVs are compatible with BRAVIA Link Modules -- including the BRAVIA Wireless Link, BRAVIA DVD Link, and BRAVIA Input Link Modules (all sold separately). The HDTVs also support BRAVIA SyncTM technology so you can control all of your compatible devices with a single remote. And all BRAVIA HDTVs exceed ENERGY STAR 3.0 requirements for in-use and stand-by power consumption, meaning you don't need a lot of power to get a lot of performance.

Great TV
Great picture and good sound quality. This is my first HDTV and it looks great with vivid and bright colors. HDTV takes it to the next level and I love Sony TVs. A great combination with my new TIVO HD - the only way to watch TV. Free shipping from Amazon gets it to the curb (or garage if you are lucky), you will need help getting it unpacked and in the house.

nice tv & what you can connect to it
I've had this tv for 3 months and I like it a lot. This is a big upgrade from the 27" tube tv it replaces. If you watch any amount of tv and still have an old, small tube tv, a new HD tv will improve your experience in a big way.
This TV: After much research, deliberation, and a number of showroom visits, I decided on this TV. I purchased from another vendor for a bit lower cost, but I did so reluctantly because I have had very good luck with Amazon. The TV showed up well-packaged an in good condition. Set up is easy.
I selected this TV because it is in a bright room with many windows. LCDs are better than plasma for such conditions, I've been told. Also, this Sony has a less glossy screen than other worthy competitors, like Samsung. You can test this by going to a showroom and looking for glare from the store lights on the screens. This TV has worked well in bright conditions.
The picture quality is very good. There are adequate inputs, we have an HD cable DVR, a Sony blue ray player, and an xbox 360, all connected with hdmi (there are 4 hdmi inputs), and a Wii. There is a standard connection for your pc, if the pc doesn't have an hdmi port.
Network / Internet devices: I found that I could view video and pictures stored on my Windows XP PC on the TV using the xbox (connected to a Cisco wireless ethernet bridge, bought at Amazon, works great). To connect to a computer through the xbox, you will need a wired network or a wireless router with an ethernet bridge near the TV. The Blue Ray is a Sony BDP-N460, which connects to the internet and allows viewing of some free and some pay content, including movies, from a number of providers, including Amazon. It is pretty neat and gives choices for on-demand movies that seem less expensive than my cable provider offerings.
To connect multiple devices to the internet you can get a TrendNet ethernet switch at Amazon for $10, which will allow up to 4 internet connections from one cable or wireless bridge. I purchased inexepensive HDMI cables from Amazon, and they seem to work fine (you can pay a lot for cables, the $5-10 versions that I bought work well).
TV sound is OK. I ran an rca cable out to an old stereo and use that for movies when quality sound is desired (obviously a surround sound system would work as well).
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the TV, and the other components that make the TV more functional. We live in an amazing era.

A Solid HDTV if you Like to Tweak - FiOS users beware!!!
I received this HDTV as an Xmas gift to replace a 5 year old Sanyo tube-based HDTV that was going nutty (green tint to the picture suddenly).
Pros: * The blur motion control, Bravia Sync, and input switching are great. * The menus for calibration of the picture (if you have a THX calibration disk) are simply very easy. * Watching Blu-Ray movies or playing PS-3 games on this are awe inspiring- incredible details, rich blacks, no motion glitches. * Hooking a Nintendo Wii up to this TV via component cable was a nice surprise too in terms of picture quality and motion tracking. * So many inputs, you will be hard pressed to fill them up.
Cons: * The sound of the TV speakers requires you to have a separate receiver/speaker array system. The speakers are rather tinny sounding with no bass. * The quality of this HDTV, like most on the market, requires that you learn how to calibrate the TV to THX or another standard. Otherwise, you are not getting all the quality that the TV is capable of. * The HDMI input does not communicate well with the current Verizon FiOS Motorola HD QIP 71001 set top box. The picture flickers intermittently, goes to green screen, or goes to black depending upon the channel selected. Switching the set top box to feed this Sony using component cables solves the issue, but it is disappointing that neither Sony, Motorola, nor Verizon want to take ownership of this HDMI problem.
Overall, the picture quality of this TV blew away other 120 Hz LCD HDTV's both priced at this level & even $1,000 more. To get a better picture, if you know how to calibrate an HDTV, you would have to spend several thousand dollars more. Even then, the amount you will spend versus perceptible picture quality improvement is not really worth the bang for the buck IMHO. I would recommend this TV with the above 3 caveats.

Everything I Wanted
Great picture, great sound, and Sony quality all for a good price. Others have gone to much greater detail than I care to, but I'll just say I don't think anyone will be disappointed with this TV purchase.
Although I realize this isn't much of a review, I simply wanted to express my satisfaction to others.

OK sound, great picture, great buy!
The picture quality is spectacular. The sound is kinda "meh" But typically if you're using a TV this size your using some kind of surround sound system of your own choosing - like myself. Which in turn makes it a 10/10 for me. A great buy, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are deep. Very nice with ZERO ghosting on the dark scenes. However, like others have stated, the standard def channels look poor but that is to be expected on an LCD this size. Someone mentioned some issues with a "popping" noise when changing channels using the HDMI or switching through the inputs. I have NOT experienced any issues like that or of any other nature with this model. A great buy indeed.

Utilizing these features can reduce power consumption by up to 60% in a typical home theater environment.

Did not like the picture quality - ended up taking it back
I bought this TV based on the price and all the great reviews. I didn't think it looked that great in the store but I thought it was probably just their input signal.
I had this TV in my home for 3 weeks and finally ended up taking it back. I had read that LCD's no longer had viewing angle problems, but this one does. It looks good from directly in front of it, but from the sides it looses contrast badly. I wasn't impressed with the black levels either.
I ended up getting a plasma and am much happier. The picture looks the same from any viewing angle with a plasma.

Great Price & Picture!
Purchased this for $1050 Jan. 2010 and have no complaints. Great picture, good sound, all around easy set up. I was concerned about motion blur as this is not 120hz or more, but no one at our Superbowl party could see any motion issues. The price has dropped so much (was $1800 in June) it's a steal. No problems with viewing angles, and we had a packed rooms for superbowl. This 52" is in our FR and provides a good view from all seats. We have 2 96" sofas and a swivel chair all ranging from 9-11 feet away from the screen, placed in a U configuration. Check it out in-store if you are not certain, bet you'll buy one!

Sony does it again
As with any TV you really do need a sound system to bring this set to life. I love the picture despite what I have read about dimming. I brought home a 52S4100 a few weeks ago and wasn't thrilled. This 5100 displayed scenes of Yosmite as if you were there. My 10 year old XBR 40" now seems unwatchable.

Best TV I've Ever Purchased
Ok, I'll make this short and sweet. At least I'll try to. Here: find the positive reviews, and listen to them. Ignore the negative reviews. Still want to hear more? Fine. I warned you.
I worked for Sony for a few years, and if it wasn't for their inflated pricing, everything in my house would have a Sony logo on it. Then this TV came along. Here's a not-so-secret suggestion: Purchase a Sony TV around Super Bowl time- you'll combine retailer's Super Bowl sales with the timing of old models clearing out. Seriously, you want to pay $300-600 more to have a 2010 vs a 2009 TV? I want your paycheck.
I worried a bit about it only being 60 Hz for as large as it is, thinking the size would magnify any ghosting or lag. Negative- maybe if I was watching a SD signal over rabbit ears. Hooked this beauty up to an HD satellite signal, and have been watching the NBA All-Star stuff, and fast-paced Olympic events with ZERO lag or ghosting. Sweet.
A couple people commented on viewing angle? Puhleeze. It's awesome.
Ok, news flash: the sound isn't stellar...but it's not really better or worse than other LCD TVs I've owned. And who cares? I have everything hooked up to my receiver. I'm not about to own a 52" TV and not take advantage of the home theater experience.
I didn't think I'd like 2 of the HDMI connections on the side, but I'll admit it's a heck of a lot easier connecting everything when it's mounted on the wall. (Hint: use a Cheetah Mounts APTMM2B Tilt Wall Mount for 32"-55" Plasma and LCD TVs and Displays, it was a great deal).
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Sony among the least expensive in that size range. Ok, so I got a killer deal, but still! With as nice as this LCD is, it's hard to imagine it being the 'bottom' range of their lineup. It's a Sony TV. Enough said.

Love it
Initially got the 40 inch but returned for the 46 inch (wife's idea even). Both were very nice, but of course we love the 46 inch size and picture quality. got a great deal that included a PS3 player. Blue-ray videos pop.
Hooked up the internet via cat5 cable and signed up for Netflix. We have not had one issue with streaming the video from Netflix - very smooth and already have 47 movies in our streaming queue!
Not too excited about the widgets at this time. Selection and usefulness is limited.

Great TV
This is a great TV. I got this with a Blu-Ray player for pretty cheap and it was definitely worth it. the picture is so much better than my old TV. The only thing I don't like about the TV is the inputs on the side, there is only 1 HDMI on the back, and 3 on the side. I really think that should be opposite. Other than that this TV is awesome!

Very bad experience with sound quality
I bought the product in Dec 2009 and noticed that creepy noise on the first day after hooking the telivision.I thought it may be temporary, but realized that it is very much noticiable at nights when it is quite. It was very annoying and it was a great disappointment.I walked in to the store and explained the situation, they told me that the TV is not in stock and asked to come back after 2 weeks.I went to the store and they told me that there is only one piece left out.Took my set and the techs checked the TV by hooking, in less than the time I expected they told that there is a grounding problem for the speakers and they replace the TV.
Its just a day again and I will observe. For now the new set is working fine.
For activating enhanced features it asked me to update the software. After updating to the latest software I cleary observerd the difference in sound(The output of the sound became low).I have no idea for now what made this. I am going to contact Sony. The only reason for buying the Sony product is that standard of the quality. It can not beat my old Panasonic TV(Bulky CRT TV).
Also I agree with other reviewers, the home page for activating the internet link is crappy,I wonder why they can not spend a small amount of money for maintaining a good site.

LCD/LED TV Geek Squad
Up until I purchased this LCD TV (SONY BRAVIA 46W5100), I have studied all the options for months before buying this 46 inch TV. It came down to three manufacturers LCD TV's: SONY, SHARP or Samsung for best picture quality, design and sound. Conclusion: SONY BRAVIA is the BEST and superior in quality!!! (Although SHARP should get all the credits for developing LCD TVs all together, but seemed to slow down in further developing the technology. On the other hand, Samsung keeps copying everything what SONY and SHARP have done to LCD TVs, Samsung is STILL few years behind in technologies to SONY and SHARP manufacturers.) While Samsung is only interested in thinning down the flat screen TVs, all other manufacturers are directing their technologies in advancing the picture quality and sound. I personally do not care about thinner LCD/LED TV, but better picture quality and sound. I think Samsung's R & R Division should better reconsider the direction they are going.
I found the Sony 46W5100 more attractive in design and had a slimmer bezel, plus was not shiny black or reflective like the one with Samsung. This model has all the most up to the minute Sony technical features and a superb picture. Sound quality is perfectly fine despite some reviews. I picked the W series because of the internet connectivity and TV Guide on screen, since I use an antenna for over the air channels. Really neat features like streaming video movies from Netflix and Amazon, YouTube and CBS. Some are free, some you have to rent of course. Just plug in an ethernet cable from your router. You need at least 1.5M speed DSL. Got a great buy from Amazon, it was delivered in 7 days after I placed the order. Took about 10 minutes to unpack and set it up, and it worked just great right out of the box. Remote is uncomplicated and easy to use. I am very pleased with this TV and will highly recommend it to anyone. However if you are not interested in connecting it to the internet or using TV Guide On Screen, then consider the Sony V series for a few hundred dollars less, although it has the Bravia 2 processor (vs Bravia 3 in the W5100) and has slightly lower contrast ratio. Also the W has a more attractive bezel design.

Question : What do you think about the Sony Bravia LCD TV range?
In particular the W series? Im thinking of buying the Sony Bravia KLD -40W2000. I read amazing reviews on it but after having gone to see it in a shop, some of the assistants told me it was overrated, and overly-priced. I looked pretty good though. If you have considered this tv yourself or even have one please let me know what you think. I need a final push before making this investment.Thanks.
Answer:
Frankly I have learned not to pay much attention to the people in the store, they are usually not qualified to help you purchase batteries for your remote control let alone give you a recommendation on your TV. I took a quick look around and this model seems to be getting really good reviews, so I would say go for it.

Question : I can get a good deal on a 740 37 inch Sony LCD TV. If all stations start broadcasting in 1080 will my TV ?
in 740 still look good?
Answer:
Im guessing by 740 you mean 720p? if so no worries because no one will go exclusive 1080p for a long time to come. As for a good deal on a sony, I'd save some more cash and buy something better like a Samsung

Question : What is the difference between DM port in Sony LCD TV over the normal USB port?
Can we use this DM port to connect USB pen drives to play MP3 nad photos stored in it?Applies to Sony LCD TV V400 & W400 series.
Answer:
No, the DM (Digital Media) port is not a USB port, but a port that can take the cable from a IPod docking cradle. Via an IPod and the DM Port, you can view digital photos, play music clips or videos. Via the USB port, you can use a flash drive to view photo files or play music clips.

Question : My 32'' Sony LCD TV has a whine/squeal that is very high pitched. What could be causing it?
I got a 32'' LCD TV by Sony in July. By mid-August the TV was producing a high pitched squeal or whine after being on for just 30 minutes. I called warranty repair, and the man replaced the power supply in the unit. About a day later, the noise has returned. What could possibly be causing this in a 2 month old TV?
Answer:
Any TV can develop problems, but a brand new replacement power supply should not fail again in the same manner. Squeals are often times emitted from failing capacitors. Power supplies use capacitors and typically use larger sized capacitors that can and do fail. What it sounds like is that Sony may have gotten hold of a bad batch of capacitors and you are unlucky enough to have received two successive power supplies with those bad capacitors. Contact Sony and have the power supply checked again. It could also be bad capacitor elsewhere in the system or a failing fan.Do not put your faith blindly into a manufacturer's products. Not all Sony products are great nor are they all problematic. I have heard that Sony has had reliability problems with the M4000 series. I do not know if this is your Sony TV model, but I do hope that you will seek out reliable, trustworthy recommendations before your next purchase. Always be skeptical when making large purchases. Companies fortunes do change with time.

They're asking $2,200 and it's been on the floor 8 months. What's a good way to haggle the price down??
Answer:
me personaly i would not buy the tv. think about how long that tv has probably been running. it has most likely been running at least 12 hours a day. if you still want that tv you could probably haggle them down to about $1600. but dont get me wrong about the sony brand. the sony brand is excellent. i have a 26'' sony bravia and it is amazing.
