Love the tv for the price that I paid

I got the the KDL-52W5100 on black friday for about $1300 shipped with free blu-ray player. Love it, at least for that price. There are a few things I wished it did better. In comparison to my friend's 42" Phillips LCD and Samsung 52" models, I would say one thing this LCD lacks is the quality it looks when connected as a monitor for my computer. I can see some discoloration on the edges (fringing or slight chromatic aberration) even when set to PC mode. That was my biggest disappointment. In terms of watching movies or HDTV however, it still blows me away. I love it! Ease of use.. Sony beats Samsung (my friend has a Samsung 52"), Sony's menu is quick, responsive and easy to maneuver. The colors are nice.. there's some vignetting from back lighting but you won't notice it after a while. Overall, it's a pretty nice tv if you can get it discounted, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Excellent Product Sony Bravia KDL-52W5100

Picture quality is superb...Netflix is great...set works perfectly. Would give five stars but sound from built in speakers is not all that great. Should be hooked up to external speakers for best results. Probably the best 52" for the price. Highly recommend.

Among the best TVs in its class

Overall, this TV provides a very high quality viewing experience. The number of features in this TV justifies its higher price tag. Luckily, I got it while it was on sale for $[...] (CAD).

Blurays are extremely clear and vibrant, and paired with a PS3, gaming is taken to a new level of immersion. Colours are accurate and video noise is minimal. The Motionflow technology is a great addition for certain types of movies and games, and enhances the overall realism. I haven't tried HDTV over the air yet; I need to get an antenna first!

The XMB menu system is very convenient and will be familiar to PS3 users. The menu is very fluid and fast and eye catching. The built-in speakers sound great, but with a TV like this, it's almost a requirement to have a surround sound system. Visually, the TV looks very classy with its minimalist design and would fit in with any decor.

One of the main selling points of this TV is the ethernet connectivity, in my opinion. With DLNA-certified software installed on a PC on the network, one can access videos, photos and music with a touch of a button. Internet access is also great, with Youtube about one second away from whatever you happen to be watching. Multiple HDMI ports and a USB port ensure you have sufficient connectivity options for miscellaneous devices.

I've had this TV for about 3 days and I noticed some clouding when the screen went completely black. This is a caveat with LCD technology and this TV is no exception. The clouding is not noticeable whenever there is something playing on the screen; only when the screen is completely black does one see some clouding in the corners of the screen.

Aside from the clouding, this TV is perfect and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a 50+ inch screen.

Great TV

I bought this TV plus Blue-ray player from Amazon last month. It was very easy to set up. The picture & sound quality is very good and are the features of this TV. It was very easy to setup Netflix streaming and all other internet features with a software update. Some of these features are useful but not sure how frequently I am going to use it. Please note that the default settings may not work very well. Browse other forums like "c n e t" and "a v s forum" for settings. With these settings, there is considerable improvement in picture quality. Overall, this is a fantastic TV..

Awesome TV

I purchased the Sony 46W5150 when I saw that the price was actually less than the 46V5100. I am so glad that I did since the price went up to more the next day. I received the TV via a freight shipment. The set was in perfect condition when it arrived.

The w5150 is the same as the w5100 except it has a longer warranty (18mth vs 12mth). The picture is fantastic with inky blacks and excellent color. The Internet enabled features are a bonus. The biggest thing I was looking forward too for the Internet enabled set is the Netflix on demand, however, it is not available until sometime in November 09. I was happy to find that the TV will pull video from my media server; this saves me from having to turn on the PS3 to get to my stored media. I haven't tried to use the USB port for MP3s or Pictures since I have been able to use the Media server.

I love the look of the TV... it looks great on the wall with a very narrow bezel. The screen itself is not quite matte, but it isn't anywhere near as shiny as the Samsungs and some of the other LCDs out there.

Picture quality is excellent. Sony does a great job with their MotionPlus compared to some of the other sets I was looking at. The Sony option has a much more natural feel too and enhances the picture rather than making it look like video.

The sound quality is pretty good (especially for hidden speakers) as long as you don't turn on the SForce surround option. That seemed to really distort the sound quality.

Set up was a breeze. The TV set up my wired internet connection automatically and found the media server on its own. Since the set is internet enabled I was able to download the newest firmware and have that installed without having to call Sony etc.

Overall, this was an awesome purchase. The picture quality is a little bit better than the v5100 series and you get the longer warranty and Internet features. I highly recommend this set.

NICE LOOKING TV. VIDEO AND QUALITY IS OVERALL PRETTY GOOD. EASY TO VIEW IN DAYTIME AND NIGHT TIME SETTINGS. THE BLACKS COULD BE DARKER. ONLY REASON IS YOU CAN SEE WHITE LIGHT ALL AROUND THE SCREEN WHEN THE SCREEN IS SUPPOSE TO COMPLETELY BACK. BESIDES THAT EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE. COULD BE A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS CHEAPER. TIGER DIRECT HAD THE BEST PRICE FOR A NEW SONY, BUT IN THE END IT STILL SHOULD BE A COUPLE HUNDRED CHEAPER.

DO NOT ORDER THIS TV FROM TIGER DIRECT!

Do not order this TV from Tiger Direct! They use a delivery service called Yellow Roadway Corporation that called me to setup up a time and date to deliver the TV but they never showed up. I called them to find out the status of the delivery and they told me the TV hadn't arrived in their warehouse. I asked why I wasn't notified that the TV wasn't going to arrive on the time and date that they promised and they said Tiger Direct hadn't paid for guaranteed delivery. It's the worst delivery service I've ever heard of. I specifically chose to buy from Tiger Direct because of other people's reviews saying delivery service was so great. It's totally not great!

!!! You'll have all you need trough this AMAZING TV !!!!!!!!

The sony 46W5150 is a fantastic TV. The pictures are fabulous and it looks great with deep blacks and motion picture quality.
Images are amazing! The blacks are pretty and true black. This TV has Bravia Engine 3 (Sony's latest video processor) and has a 120 Hz refresh rate. All I see is smoothe motion which is a thing of beauty. The colors look real and true to life. I just love it.
I like the Sony light that comes on on the bottom center of the bezel when the TV is on. I don't like the touch color from samsung but I love this magestic black color in the frame of this tv,,,a lot of elegance.
The sound is very good but not the best, however most lcd tv's have this lack.
I was looking for 5 month, reading all tv's reviews (Sony,Samsung,Toshiba)finally I decided for Sony because has some extras features and was the best choice..."Quality, service, internet capability and best picture".
I must inform you, that Sony has the lowest rates of entries for repairs, related to LCD TV's (Consumer reports). That's mean Sony is the best technology.
Tiger Direct, shipped fast and used a YRC Company for delivery and the driver was lost, thus I had to go for him in a gas station, despite I live in an area where others delivery companies, never have had the same trouble. I think that everyone has a bad day in the work and I could understand the driver. At least, TV arrived at expected day.
I can recommend this device SONY KDL-46W5150.

GREAT TV!! GREAT PRICE!!

Ok let me start off by saying this TV is awesome, I bought it as a family gift for Christmas it's in a family room. It makes the room look so much bigger (should state we had a projection screen TV, it was huge) this TV is on the wall and positioned great. Enough about that, lets get down to why people read these reviews. The picture is great i don't have the high definition channels yet but I have a lot of Blu rays and from that aspect I couldn't ask for anything better. The picture is so clear you can see the pores in people's faces. The settings for the TV are good too, usually to get the best picture the TV has to be on vivid (that will burn out the the TV out really quick) that isn't the case here I have the TV on cinema and it's bright enough for me. The sound is OK it's loud but when I watch movies I like to think I'm in the movie, I bought surround sound and that fixed that problem. I buy everything Sony because the Bravia sync works great you don't have to program the remote it's all done for you as long as you hook it up through HDMI. Now the TV has tons of inputs no need to buy an input extender. It has four HDMI one VGA and two component inputs, (all the inputs are on the side of the TV for easy access except the two component inputs are on the back of the TV) which I hate because the TV is on the wall and there isn't anyway to get to them without taking the TV down, but if you don't plan to put the TV on the wall you won't have a problem. All in all the TV is a great buy I would highly recommend purchasing this item, The product is great and the price is very reasonable.

On a related note I would also recommend purchasing a warranty from square trade, The prices beat the store warranty buy at least sixty percent and no shipping your giant TV and waiting two weeks for it to be returned. They come to you and do all repairs in home for all TVs greater that thirty seven inches.

This is my first review I have ever Written, please let me know how I did.

Thanks

Great TV it has only one problem, and here is how to fix it

I bought this TV about 2 months ago. Everything is great, and I have no complains. There is only one problem, and here is how to fix it. I connected the TV using HDMI. One day all of my HDMI inputs stop working. The rest of the inputs worked fine, and all of my receivers worked if connected to other inputs or other TV's. If you have this problem, unplug the TV from the wall for a minimum of 5 minutes. With the TV still unplugged, push and hold the power button in the TV for one minute. Plug the TV again and everything should work fine. This problem has only happened once.

Best TV period

Having made an extensive review of HDTV's including LEDs, I would say that overall the XBR9 series is the best. I read a ton of online reviews and went to the stores to compare first hand. The LEDs from Samsung and Sony are pretty good with very wide dynamic range. But the dynamic range was too high and at times the picture became difficult to watch. The blacks dominated most of the picture. Sure you can adjust this down but why pay the additional cost of LEDs when you have to adjust the contrast back to non-LED type levels? The 100,000:1 contrast on this set seemed perfect to my eyes. And the 240 Hz was smoothest of the hundreds of sets I compared. A comparison that was easy to make since the store ran a continuous demo. I'm not sure that live ATSC and cable transmissions would benefit from 240Hz since, they are compressed video and any motion shift accompanies pixelation and lossy information. Interpolation works best when the sample points are precise and lossless. So if you don't plan to do Bluray, maybe 120Hz is plenty. The picture quality is fantastic. Primetime and daytime NBC and CBS 1080i broadcasts are amazing to watch. The color variation is so accurately reproduced that it seems you are watching a moving painting instead of a picture. Leno Show, especially during Xmas, was amazingly vivid in color and detailed that I really didn't care about the content but was simply viewing the show as a spectacle or a museum piece.

If you do buy any Bravia TVs, I would advise to buy a Bravia theatre and bluray system since the Bravia Sync is great (though you may need to switch the little speakers for larger ones). Just put the disk in and the rest of the system turns on and switches over automatically. Saves at least 5 buttom pushes and the search for 2 remotes. You will love the system.

MY WIFE HATES IT, BUT I LOVE IT: ITS JUST THE BEGINNING.

I just got my KDL40-VE5 Sony Bravia, I kicks %#@#$... The picture is so clear it almost looks 3-D. Sound is perfect in the bedroom, in Dynamic setting is as good as the surround sound system in stereo setting(Yes you have to turn it up half way, but anything after that the house shakes not the speakers[Sony must have fixed the problem]). 100, 000:1 contrast means your old " View Master Viewer" is now in 40".

My 2years old genius daughter Has been trying to obtain products and items from the T.V. I'm happy my wall mount got here so I could get my 120 hz off the level of my little princess. I have a cable hd connection, and ps3 250g. Everything on HDMI connections. This may be what makes the difference???

My Wife however, does not like my Bravia. Mainly because my old westinghouse 47" 1080P, 60 hz, which only had 8000:1 contract. Just looks like a dinosaur now. The westinghouse does have a feature they called 1080Pure which give it a very good picture. I never thought someone else lcd looked better. In fact a few friends bought the same tv after seeing mine. Sorry guys... HA, HA.

The Eco Bravia has brought the future to my house. Now I'm shooting for 240hz, 1440p, 1,000,000:1.... don't look back guys, the future is waiting.

This is a terrible model, upgrade your choice to z series or XBR

We purchased this model from Sears. In less than 12 hours we decided to return the unit. First problem was the sound. The left speaker vibrates before you even put the volume up to half. Second problem was the constant color changing and image tracking. It was like the TV was stuck in a loop trying to find the correct resolution and color contrast. Colors were constantly changing during a news cast on the same person. Very unstable. We were VERY disappointed.

We returned the unit and the people at Sears told us that over 90% of the lesser models of Sony LCD's are returned and that the store is deciding whether or not to continue carrying the lesser models.

The good news is that we purchased the Z5100 40 inch from Amazon. The price was great! The TV seems to have been made by a different group within Sony. The picture is fantastic, the sound is awesome. The progressive scanning works well and the contrast and colors are dynamic. And as always, Amazon is a great company to deal with. Ordered on a Sunday afternoon and it was delivered on Wednesday at noon. The delivery company was great and even warned us that we should let it sit for at least an hour as it had been in temps below 50. Important when dealing with LCD's.

We are so happy with the new TV. The 240Hz makes a world of difference, as does the 10 bit processing. The overall size and sleeker design of the case is also much, much better. The image tracking is superb, color is awesome.

Great picture - Lousy sound

I purchased the Bravia KDL-40VE5 yesterday (Jan 6, 2010). It was very easy to set up. The picture is very good but, the sound is really bad. And, there's buzzing/vibrating in the right speaker. It sounds worse than my bedside clock-radio. Nonetheless, I thought adding auxilary speakers would fix the audio. Well, this didn't work very well either... the only audio output is 'fixed', therefore, the auxillary speakers will not respond to mute or volume control. Otherwise, the additional(computer) speakers ($30) made the TV come alive. Well, anyway, this won't work! Hard to believe believe that a $1000 TV sounds this lousy and will not support a couple of additional speakers. Really disappointed... think I'll take it back.

Huge power consumption savings, great picture quality, great value.

I've had this TV for over three months now. Previous to purchasing this set I waited and shopped for over a year looking for the right TV at the right price. I run my place off solar power, with every watt I use of power making a difference, so I had been looking forward to this model since it was announced early in 2009 due to it's low power consumption. In this regard, it has not disappointed. For all LCD TV's, power consumption varies highly depending on how high you turn up the backlight. I use it almost solely for movies, which look great with the backlight at the lowest setting or up only 1 or 2 clicks ("Cinema" setting is nice). At lowest backlighting this TV uses only about 80watts of power (measured with my handy Kill-A-Watt meter). Upping the backlight to 2 increases it to about 90watts. (For those interested, if I turn it all the way up it goes up to about 145watts. But I never want it anywhere near this bright.) The TV running together with my Sony Bluray player uses a total of 96 watts when playing a Bluray movie. This is fantastic. By comparison, my previous TV, a couple year old high quality _32"_ Sharp model (also 1080p, and one of the more energy efficient models of its time), used nearly as much power as this 40" model. A new standard (non-"Eco") Sony 40" or a Samsung or other brand uses at least 125watts with the backlight turned down. With the backlight up other normal models use well over 200watts. So this model has a real world 40% power consumption savings compared to a typical 40" set. This is fantastic, and every bit as good as I had hoped.

Also if you're considering a bigger 46 or 52" set, the power consumption of this EV model in those bigger sizes actually scales better relative to normal LCD's (not to mention plasmas) also. Meaning as you go up in size, you actually get a higher percentage increase in power consumption savings. So for example, the 46" EV uses only about 20 watts more power than this 40", compared to an increase of about 60 or more watts in a standard V-series or other brand LCD for the same increase in size.

Power consumption: 5/5 stars.

As to the picture quality, it is every bit as good as I expected for an LCD set. Even the blacks on this set are a huge improvement over my previous 2 year old Sharp 32" LCD. They even seem slightly better (darker) than my brother's one year old 52" Sony V-series (52V4100). Of course the black levels aren't going to be as perfect as my friend's new 50" plasma, due to the inherent flaws in LCD technology, but they are as good as any LCD I've seen, and I'm happy with that. I am sourcing almost solely Bluray, so the quality is top notch. I can not comment on how SD television looks as I've never used it, and don't really understand why anyone would want to buy an expensive HDTV like this primarily for SD content. DVD's through the Bluray player upscaling, look surprisingly good. Though nowhere near as stunning as Bluray, definitely better than standard DVD quality.
In every other way the picture quality is fantastic, with one exception: There is a very slight "bleed in" of light on the upper left and right corners. I guess this might be that notorious problem I've heard about with Sony's. As someone who is meticulous on details, I did notice it right away when I first turned on the set. However, it is only noticeable when the background is black, for example during movie end credits, and as I said, it is very slight. If it were more than very slight, I definitely would have returned or exchanged the set immediately, but it's a tiny negative to an otherwise outstanding LCD picture quality.

Picture quality: 4/5 stars.

Sound quality, despite all the bad reviews I see here, is above average for built in sound on a flat panel. In fact, it's far and away above most other HDTV's I tested, particularly Samsung models, which seem to almost intentionally have unusable built in sound. It is also much better than my previous Sharp model, which incidentally still had much better sound than than the Samsung models I tested. I carefully tested the sound on some higher end Sony models as well (last year's Z and XBR) and found the sound quality on this to be comparable. The real test however, is will the built in sound be acceptable, "good enough", when actually watching a movie. It passes this test. It seems to depend a lot on the source or the actual specific disc, as sometimes having the sound at under half volume is fine, while another movie will require it to be nearly all the way up, but overall I find the built in speakers surprisingly usable.
As to the vibration noise issue reported by many here, I do notice some vibration noise when the bass is loud and the volume is turned up high, on occasion, but not so much as to be a glaring problem. Maybe others here got defective speakers. In conclusion, the sound is as good as any flat panel set I've used yet (better than 50" Panasonic Plasma, better than most other LCD's, about equal to high end LCD's). Especially if you're using the TV mainly for sports and TV, the built in sound is good. That said, as would be the case with any HDTV today, I will probably be adding a good quality sound bar or surround system in the future, to get more of a theater-like movie experience.

Sound quality: 4/5 stars.

Overall I'm very satisfied with this set. I felt compelled to put in my two cents after reading the several negative reviews here. Many of the negatives seem to either be due to bad speakers, or some unrealistic expectation with regard to SD (Standard Definition) picture quality, etc. I'm glad I bought it before reading all the bad speakers reviews, as those reviews might have stopped me from buying it. Few people seem interested in this TV's main draw which makes it worth the slight premium over Sony's regular V-series set: Low power consumption. In this regard it is so far and away above the rest that I'm tempted to give the set 5 stars overall. The only reason I'm not is because of the very slight light bleed in at the top corners, for which I refuse to give Sony the "perfect" 5 stars.

Lastly, when you consider that the price of this has come down so much now as we head into 2010 with new models on the horizon, I think right now is the sweet spot in terms of the value you get with this set, if you're looking for a good quality TV with low power consumption.

Overall: 4/5 stars.

Big Audio Problems

After purchasing this TV for Christmas we were very excited about its clean lines and excellent picture...until we turned the volume up. This TV didn't just have bad sound, it has a design problem. The left side speaker casing vibrates even at very low audio levels. The vibration is as loud and sometimes louder than the TV volume. If you place pressure with your finger hard against the speaker grill, it stops.

We, unfortunately, assumed this was an isolated problem and exchanged the TV for another of the same model. Exact same problem. The store says the TV has been "discontinued" which may be Sony's way of handling the problem. The Sony help line acted as if they had never heard of the problem and suggested turning the unit off, then back on (insulting). They continue to sell the unit both in stores and on their Sony Style website (where there are many reviews posted with this same audio issue).

If you have any desire to ever turn up the TV's volume, DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL. If you are always going to use external speakers...I'll bet there will be some great buys as these flood the return shelves! Excellent picture for what it is worth.

Question : What Sony LCD TV should I get?
Folks! I am looking at the Sony KDL40xxxx series LCD TV's. There is the V series, X and W series that I can see. Could any of you techie gurus advise me on which one to get?

Answer:
You should definately get an x series. yes it is a bit more expensive however it is the only FULL HD t.v of the lot. The others are hd ready. this means a lot more reolution. Known as 1080p rather than 720p. this will be more future proof and it will play hd and blu-ray to full potential. if you buy hd ready do you want to regret it next year when true hd is used on the ps3? if you only watch freeview then go with v or w series as full hd will not be broadcast for 5 years. a u series can be a great deal if latest tech is not essential.

Question : Why does the screen on my Sony LCD rear projection TV flicker?
Sometimes the screen on my Sony LCD rear projection TV will flicker. It won't go off or anything and it's mostly around the edges but it's pretty annoying. We called Sony and I don't think they knew what they were talking about. They said something about leaving the TV on the same channel for a few hours and that should take care of it. That doesn't do anything at all. It seems to be happening more and more now. We are thinking it could mean that we need to change the bulb. Is that a possibility? Thanks!

Answer:
Flicker around the edges? High possibility it being the bulb, if you had it for 1.5-3 years with out replacing it then it could very well be that. Also AC lines can cause a flicker at a certian frequency.

Question : LED vs LCD sony TV advice needed for purchase?
I am Looking to buy and really good TV that has good SD quality and 1080p i have seen 2 the first one is Samsung UE40B8000 40" Full HD LCD TV and the 2nd is Sony KDL40Z5500 SNY KDL40Z5500 i not sure which is better for long lasting and quality?can anyone please give advice?

Answer:
An "LED TV" *is* an LCD TV, just with LEDs for the backlight instead of fluorescents. ( No, there are no "pure LED" TVs - i.e. direct view of the LEDs - unless you're talking about the giant outdoor displays like the ones on the Las Vegas Strip. )You can prove this easily. Go up to an "LED" TV in the store and push on the screen with your finger. You'll find the image will "ripple" out from the pressure just as it does on any other LCD TV. The picture is no more "clear" than any other LCD - you're still looking at an LCD, after all. Nor is there a difference in maximum size - this again is determined by "how big can we make the LCD panel", not by the backlight. If anything, fluorescent-backlight LCDs will remain at the large sizes because LED backlights are more espensive, and the cost difference goes up as the size increases. An LED LCD TV will be thinner than conventional LCD, because the LEDs don't need as much in the way of diffusion. It will produce less heat. It MAY give better colors, but LCD's color issues are in general not caused by backlight issues. An LED LCD TV that uses backlight dimming can do better at shadow detail than a fluorescent backlight without, and an LED LCD that uses selective dimming can do even better (and this can't be done at all with fluorescent), but this tech is not in all LED LCD TVs. LED backlighting does not help with LCD's view angle issues, nor with motion ghosting. LED-LCD will probably last longer than conventional LCD, partly because the set will run cooler, and partly because the backlight inverter in an LCD is a very trouble-prone component - on the other hand it is a cheap and easy repair.

Question : I was planning to buy a Sony LCD TV, but some body is suggesting that Sharp is better. Pls help, I am confused?
I prefer to buy 26 inch LCD TV.

Answer:
First, they are FULL of IT....Second, so are they....Third, This is YOUR TV...not theirs. YOU BUY WHAT YOU WANT TO BUY...not what your neighbor suggests...Fourth....you can always ask ME, and I'll tell you MY experience. And as far as I'm concerned, you were right on target, before these "Friends" stuck their nose in YOUR BUSINESS."Oooooh, I've got a piece of Crap, and you should get one too. Join me in my misery when it breaks" That's what they are REALLY saying.Sharp is better, Samsung is better...Hmmph!

Question : how do i use 32" sony bravia lcd tv as my computer monitor?
Hi...i wanna get the 32" sony bravia lcd tv to use as monitor for my computer. What cables do i need to buy for that? Is the quality gonna be as same as using the regular computer monitors? Or is everything going to be pixelated? Can i watch videos from youtuves in fullscreen wihout compromising the quality? Any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks!

Answer:
Keep in mind most YouTube videos look pixilated even on regular small computer monitors. If the quality of the video is bad to begin with, it won't look good on an HDTV either.Anyway, the 32" Bravia LCD does make a nice computer monitor. As Rodger says, use a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect your computer to it if your computer has DVI ports.I'm using my computer on a 52" Bravia LCD HDTV myself. The DVI-to-HDMI cable works very nicely in my setup.

Question : My Sony Bravia LCD TV has developed a blurred image problem. How do I fix this?
TV model KDL32ML130. The TV has started to have a ghosting problem and all motion on the TV is blurred. As well, the TV has developed a orange tint and is darker than normal. I know that a piece of hardware is bad, my question is which piece do I need to replace to fix it? Is this the LCD going bad, a bad LCD driver board, or the video processing main unit board product number 1-874-195-12? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
You have to decide if the Blur follows people or if the Blur is stationary overall...Moves.....Video boardStationary...TCon or FPS board...Triple image....FPS board. TURN off your 120 Hz Auto Motion, because that is not supposed to be on all the time, only when the picture looks bad and it corrects it.

Question : i cannot get a picture when connecting my hp laptop to my sony lcd tv using a vga to hdmi cable. why is this?
i have already tried using the fn button but this makes no difference.

Answer:
I've never heard of such a cable... VGA is Analog video (PC), HDMI is Digital, there's no way a cable can convert analog video to digital video. What you need is a VGA to component (R/G/B) cable adapter, then you can take the output from your PC and display it on your LCD, (as long as it has Y/Pb/Pr connections)
