$1600 for 3 years of usage
Loved this TV until it started malfunctioning and finally quit working just after the warranty expired. We purchased the the extended warranty from Best Buy and they came out once but couldn't recreate the problem. When it finally quit, it was just two weeks after the extended Best Buy warranty expired. The set is now defunct, spent $199 so far for a local technician to tell us it may be able to be repaired for a minimum of $500. Toshiba and Best Buy refused to do anything to help even though we had reported the problem during the warranty period.

VERY bad customer service
Had no problems with this unit until i HAD a problem.I bought mine 1/16/02 & have been pleased with the performance till early in December when the screen went black and liquid started spilling out the bottom !!!! It has been setting in my living room for 6 weeks now ( black screen, liquid dripping etc). Atechnician came by about a month ago, charged me $63 & said he could fix it but could not warranty his work. Long story short; I've been getting the runaround for over a month now since it became apparent that the unit needs to be replaced. Looks like i'll have to rely on small claims court to get Toshiba to honor the warranty. BEWARE

$1699 for 4 years of usage
Loved this TV until it broke just after the warranty expired. Made a mistake and purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy which ran concurrent with the factory warranty so I was shorted a year of warranty. Had I purchased the Toshiba factory warranty after getting home, the set would still be under warranty. The set is now defunct, spent $350 thus far to repair vertical problem and now technician claims he can't find a needed tube for additional cost. Probably will trash the set.

Initially a good TV, but then....
We have owned this TV for under 5 years. It has been a fairly decent TV until just recently. We started having problems where the TV screen would go red and then shut off. It started happening more frequently until now we can't even get the TV on for a second. After some online research and talking to a TV repair man it turns out that the red bulb went bad and they don't make the bulbs anymore or a replacement. This seems to be a fairly common problem with this TV from visiting online forums.

just a sweet tv
i have had this tv for about 3 years now. i am totally impressed with it. i have charter hd boxed hooked to it and wow what a great picture on all hd channels. i was in the market to purchase a plasma tv ,but after doing more investagating on them ,they only last about 5 to 8 years and repairs can not be done on them. with this tv all you normally have to do is replace the picture bulb. so if you want a great hd tv ,purchase this one,you won't be disapointed.

What a great TV!
I have had this television for about 2 years. The picture is great, the sound is great, and it did not cost me an arm and a leg. I was originally looking for a 32" LCD or plasma, but when I compared the picture quality and pricing, the 46" Toshiba projection made more sense. It was much less expensive than the plasma or LCD, and the picture looked great. No, you can't hang it on the wall... but who cares? I love this TV!

Best Bang for the Buck
Excellent Set.Purchased from Amazon and their specialized delivery saved me the 1st time ordered.I returned the set with no problem and they shipped out another to replace the 1st shipment.(Broken in delivery). As far as the set quality goes you will get no better set than this for the price. There is a major difference, as you may imagine, whent the HDTV is hooked on,but pound for pound, even on regular cable, I would buy this TV again.

Beware of image burn
I bought the Toshiba 46 inch rear projection TV in November. Decent set, HD looks really good. Good sound quality. Overall a good TV.
This was my first big screen rear projection purchase. I'm not one to read the operation manuals so this problem I am having with "image burn?" is my fault. But the TV itself makes it hard to avoid this problem. I knew veiwing the PC on tv and video games are bad for rear projections. But so is watching the TV in "natural" mode. In the manual is staets a few time that you should watch programs sing the entire screen, no bars on the top and botton (widescreen dvds sometimes cause that) or bars on the right and left or the "natural" settings. OK, I'm fine with that now that I know, might have been nice if the sales guy mentione dthis to me :(
Any how, when you turn on your set it always defaults to the natural setting. I have an HD digital cable box and it only uses the "whole" screen on the HD channels. So if Toshiba knows about this problem why not have the TV default to full screen? It's a bit of a pain to turn on the TV (especially since I use the cable remote) and then set the TV to a setting other than natural.
I had the TV repair guy out (best buy warranty) and he said he sees alot of this with rear projection TV's but usually not in only 6 months of use. (this burning actually happened after 4 months if use) Replacing the tubes cost as much as the TV.
Learn from my mistake if you purchase this TV :)

Amazon's order is terrible
I will say that do not order any big item such as this TV from Amazon. Once your order, you can not return or cancel. Second day after my order, I decided to cancel the order. I was told that I could not cancel it but I can refuse the shipment. Guess what, after I told the shipping company that, Amazon asked me to pay for the shipping twice. Besides Amazon's price not being competitive, the customer support is lacking all the help you can get. Do not order any Projection TV from Amazon, unless you are planning to cancel or change your mind. It is a terrible web experience. I will not order it again from Amazon.

Very Impressed
I've had this set for over two years. The picture is beautiful with DirectTV HD. I play it around six hours a day and no problems. If I had waited I could have bought it for half the price I paid for it. 65 inches and a beautiful picture for way under $2000.
Rating :
Not bad
Inputs: It's a big TV, and has lots of inputs. The single HDMI input is a weakness of this set, as there are warnings not to use it with a computer. The 65H94 model has even more inputs, such as Firewire (IEEE 1394).
Screen: The image is beautiful, but the screen protector has a lot of glare, enough that we have to put shades on the windows. Convergence had to be adjusted; it is fairly easy (it's digital) but takes patience (there are a lot of adjustment points, and you have to do red horizontal, vertical, and blue horizontal and vertical).
Video modes: The natural mode results in grey areas, which the manual warns can result in burn-in. The other modes clip part of the picture. The only mode that doesn't, distorts the image (proportions are not kept). I wish there had been a mode that filled the screen as much as possible without distorting the image (even if a little of grey showed up).
Sound: The sound is surprisingly good (especially for a single driver on each side) and has a lot of bass on the "low" option.
Note that the top of the TV isn't flat, there is no place to put stuff on. My previous TV top could hold the VCR, DVD player, etc..., but not this one.
Overall, a good value.

Good as it gets!
This Toshiba projection TV was the best that I found. Nice picture and great sound. The TouchFocus set the conversion just right. It has plenty of inputs of different types. I was a little surprised that it had no digital audio inputs however. I would have expected to find an optical audio or coaxial audio input. However since I was running my audio though a surround sound system as well as the TV, it was no big deal. There is HDMI input instead of the more standard DVI interface. You have to buy a $129 converter cable to use it. The DVI cable is close to the same price.
The menu driven interface is easy to use and setup was a breeze. I got it the same day I received the new Star Wars box set from Amazon. I really love it. The main thing that I was a little disappointed with was the thick scan lines. They're really noticeable on a dark screen. Not too bad but it may take a while to get use to it.

Delivery and Defect Problems Resolved
I ordered this product on Febr. 24th and it was delivered to my home on March 2nd. The TV was unpackaged in the truck and carried just into the door of my home. It was not turned on and inspected as promised in the Amazon shipping information. My son signed for the delivery as I was out of town. Upon my return, I noticed there had been delivery damage. The fabric on the bottom of the speaker grill was scaped and torn when the TV had been dragged over the sliding-door jam. Also, the TV had a manufacturer defect with a fixed black spot on the screen.
When I contacted Amazon (via email), they initially said too bad--the TV had been signed for. I contacted the delivery company and they said they would be responsible for the damage even if Amazon does not cooperate with the claim. Through either my followup email with Amazon or the persistency of the delivery company, I was shipped a new TV so the problem was resolved with a little persistency. By the way, if you want to talk to Amazon, the phone number is 800-201-7575.
I also asked Amazon to not penalize my early purchase by honoring the $100 gift certificate promotion that started Febr 28th. Afterall, most companies have a 30 day low price guarantee. Again, I was told "too bad" by Amazon. Amazon does have a 30 day low price guarantee, but promotions are considered outside of the guarantee.
I contacted Toshiba about the defect and I was given the name of a local authorized service center. The TV was promptly repaired by removing a small speck of plastic from the lens, problably dislodged when a cabinet screw was installed. The service person said that he rarely works on Toshiba TV's as they are very reliable.
Apart from the delivery damage, the product is excellent, despite the old technology. Adequate space and a wide viewing angle are not issues with my location of this TV, so I went with the proven technology, longer expected product life and much lower price tag. I still have an analog cable signal, so a high definition TV accentuates flaws in the signal. Like all rear projection TV's, the blacks are not as intense and the picture suffers when viewed at wide angles. I will not be able to fully appreciate this product until I have a HD signal. But, cartoons, video games, and DVD's are really cool.
Prior to purchasing this TV, I tried to read a lot about the various technologies and I found the Crutchfield website to be one of the most informative about HDTV. Crutchfield does not sell this old technology. I also looked at other various on-line dealers. Beware of both delivery AND shipping charges. Frequently, prices are quoted without including both charges so the ultimate price is not disclosed until very late in the purchasing process.
I was hesitant about making such a large purchase through a mail order vendor because Amazon does not have the best reputation when it comes to problem resolution. However, I did have a good outcome with a little persistency.

Disapponted with shipping times
I am very much pleased with the quality of the product. The price was a very competive one, the shipping quote was reasonable. I do however have a problem with the (11)days its gonna take to get to my address. I ordered the item on the 3rd of September, and according to the delivery company affiliated with Amazon(Eagle Delivery) its not gonna arrive until the 14th. Other than that I believe my purchase with Amazon was a quality one. I am however quite excited about experiencing High Definition TV on my new Toshiba 57h84(Whenever it gets here). I am so upset with the shipping company that I will not order any more big screen tv's from amazon. The shipping company blames amazon for inadequate information on the track shipment page, saying their estimates are wrong. I dont, wont, and will not seek to use Eagle shipping Company any more, because I dont understand how a shipment coming from Harrisburg, PA, can get to NC, and end up in Charlotte, completely bypassing the destination address in Greensboro. I am so disappointed to the point of being sick. Amazon needs to invest in another shipping company, or they are gonna lose customers.

Best Value for the Price
I bought this TV from a local electronics store. Seeing as it is a 2004 model, the salesman gave me a GREAT deal. About $600 less than I've seen it online. For the money, it can't be beat. The picture quality is very good, especially with Discovery HD Theater and my Xbox 360. Setup was easy, plenty of inputs for all my electronics. Really, the only complaint I have is that the remote with the TV doesn't work with my DirecTV HD Receiver, and the DirecTV remote doesn't have codes for the TV. Go figure. But if that's all I have to complain about, then I'm pretty pleased.

Poor Quality, Inferior Product
We purchased this television in January 2006 and the lamp went out within the first 3 months. Now the $2000 set, at 2 1/2 years old, has a problem with the light engine and color wheel. I have no picture sometimes with off an on screen with distorted colors and a loud grinding noise from the set. I am told it will cost around $700 to fix. I did not expect television like this to only last a couple of years. When I contacted Toshiba their customer service basically says too bad for consumers with the bad luck of purchasing their poor quality, unreliable product. I do not plan to give Toshiba another dime. I understand there may be a class action for some models on the lamp issue.

Great TV.......at first
I ordered the 52HM95 in 2005 and at first, I thought it was the best. The picture on it was the best I have seen. However, in the first year, the lamp burned out, fortunately, it was still under warranty and was replaced without cost to us. The remote has a distinct hum to in whenever it is lit(whenever a button is pushed). We recently noticed discolorization on the left hand of the screen, which looks distinctly like a magnet is too close to the screen. Since It is a freestanding television with no magnets or speakers anywhere near it, I can only assume it is due to the internal speakers of the television. Toshiba will do nothing about it since it is out of warranty. I would warn anyone to stay away from Toshiba televisions and look elsewhere.

2 years old, and still going strong! No issues at all. Fantastic picture, and with the integrated stand, really looks nice. It had the nicest picture of all the DLP sets in the store when I bought it.

No problem at all!!
We bought this TV in June 2006. It was the display model at Sears. After finally getting the remote and manual (always a problem when buying a demo) we were in business. First we had Dish Network, and a fantastic picture! (Install guy was a bit jealous.) About a year ago we went to cable (Broadstripe - Michigan) and continue to get a great picture. We have had NO bulb issues, amazing seeing how it was a demo. (Having said that, I just bet that bulb is going to blow now!) Sound is excellent. Picture is to die for. Maybe we just got lucky with our model. I mean sure, we'll have to replace the bulb sometime, but it beats replacing the whole tv, e.g., like when the plasma tv wears out. I'd buy one again, and recommend it to a friend.

59HM95 Very Poor Lamp Life and Customer Support
After purchasing this television in late 2005, we've had to replace the lamp (bulb) three times! The second lamp (bulb) we purchased in December 2007 lasted for less than 90 days after it was installed! At $250 - $300 a each, this is adding a lot to the cost of ownership. March 6, 2008, when I went to the Toshiba website I found Toshiba added a two year extended warranty to the lamp; however, when I called Toshiba customer service I was told that the exteneded warranty was only for the ORIGINAL lamp. Since I am on my THIRD lamp it doesn't apply to me. Please don't take my word for it, read other reviews from Toshiba DLP owners who are having the same or similar problems BEFORE you buy! Buyer beware.

Answer:
Are you observing this while a video signal is present or not??If it's present with an active video signal, then I would make a copy of your purchase reciept to give to the TV technician that Toshiba sends out to service your TV set....CALL TOSHIBA.....they will know if it should be looked at.As far as I have seen, the whole picture should have consistant brightness over all of it....IF the backlight's polarization is incorrect or one of the balancers went out, you would see an OBVIOUS brightness change in the CENTER of the display.....But you're talking about corners....and yes, right in the very very VERY corner, you will see a brighter glow....But I mean in the very corner and on the VERY edge of the display....

Question : is this toshiba lcd tv i bought rubbish?
i recently bought my first lcd tv, a 32" toshiba...i dont really have anything to compare it to, except a CRT but to be honest the picture looks very pixelated/blurry when up close to the screen, especially any writing. from a distance it is ok. i thought it might be the feed but sky, freeview and dvd's look the same. i would have thought a dvd should be crystal clear. am i expecting to much or is this tv rubbish. the model is : Toshiba Regza 32AV615DB 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready
Answer:
HD signals should look nice and clear. Standard def signals may actually look worse on a digital TV compared to an analog TV. This is because a standard def digital picture is made up of only 480 horizontal lines. Your HDTV has either 720 or 1080 horizontal lines, so a standard def picture has to be increased to about double its original size.Bottom line: HDTVs are intended for HD signals.

Question : Why does my Toshiba 42" LCD TV keep switching off when repair-shop says its just fine?
I have recently moved into a new flat and my 42" Toshiba LCD, which was working fine in my old flat, keeps switching off after 2-3 seconds. I sent it to a Toshiba recognised repair shop and they told me the TV worked fine in their shop. Can this have something to do with the power supply of my flat (other appliances works fine), or is the repair guys simply lying to me?
Answer:
Does the TV have a 'sleep timer' on it? That may need adjusting, but to be honest it doesn't sound like it.It may also draw so much current off your mains supply that could also cause it to switch off because it doesn't get enough.Have you actually seen the TV working in their repair shop or are you taking their word for it that it works? Could you ask a neighbour if they would be willing to plug an extension lead into one of their sockets to try it out? Just explain you think your electricity supply may be faulty and ask (nicely) if you could borrow their one for a few minutes. If it still plays up, I would give your local electricity supply company a ring and see if they can suggest anything that may be at fault.Perhaps get your sockets tested.Do you plug the TV into the same socket each time? It could be the socket itself is faulty, so try it with something else like a table lamp.

Question : I have a 52' toshiba lcd tv. A friend gave it to me because it got a little wet and sparked.?
What can I do to check simple things. I checked the fuses is there anything anybody else can think of. I know a little but with these circuits I am way out of my league. Not much money to spend now so didnt know any easy things to check
Answer:
did he give you the TV for free? is it completely dried out from the water? if there are shorts inside of it, you might find it very insurmountable to try and fix. also, it could also present a fire hazard. i really hope that you didn't pay anything for this, cuz it sounds like it might end up sitting on your curb.
