| Editorial Review :
The Toshiba 26AV502R 26 in 720p HD LCD TV offers a wide array of benchmark features and convenience functions at a very attractive price point. The Cinespeed panel's 8ms response time coupled with a 60HZ video scan rate ensure that action sequences and gaming are smooth and judder-free. Cinema Mode 24 fps provides a film-like experience from source material (ex Hollywood) shot at that frame rate. An ATSC/NTSC/QAM enables reception of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts and future-proofs the TV in advance of the nationwide digital changeover in June 2009. Channel Browser is a life raft for those who regularly surf the 500-1000 cable channels available. It allows scanning through the last 32 viewed channels, displaying screen images for the last 5 watched, by channel, favorites or source input. The 26AV502R is equipped with DynaLight Dynamic Back-Light Control, which provides deep blacks, rich shadows and smooth color transition, as well as 2 HDMI inputs for 1-cable HD connection between your TV and digital sources.

Excellent Choice
My first foray into HDTV was based upon favorable reviews of this product by Consumer Reports in the Dec. 2008 issue. Author explained 720p was more than adequate for a set less than 50 inches. I would agree. Phenomenal, bright picture and set-up is a breeze. Using a rabbit ears in Chicago and picture is excellent. Price via amazon was reasonable.

HD happy!
This is the first HDTV that we have owned. We purchased it to replace a tube tv that bit the dust. The Regza tv looks very stylish and the picture is great. This thing is perfect for watching the latest dvds on.
The picture is sharp and clear. There is a world of difference between this tv and the Magnavox it replaced. The colors are bright and vibrant. If you haven't compared the old type tvs with these newer ones you need to. You will be amazed.
The sound is a little flat, but the salesman told me that this is common w/flat tvs. He said "flat tvs have flat sound." The audio is good for watching, but you need a surround set up to feel really get into those action scenes.
We liked it so much that we purchased a 26" Regza for our bedroom. My wife and I went for one that was refurbished because we could get one with a dvd player built in. This allowed us to get rid of some of the bedroom clutter.
Why did we wait so long?

Toshiba sound quality
The only review on this TV does not reflect my experience. The TV has a great picture and the sound quality is certainly not bad - but more than adequate. I too purchase the TV at Costco and find it to be a great value.

Beautiful Picture, Terrible Sound - Forget It
On impulse, I picked up a 19lv61k at Cosco at a cheap price and an automatic factory rebate. I intended to use it in my travel trailer. Got it home, and found the usual excellent Toshiba picture, but the volume was a disaster. Cranked all the way up (to "50") on the volume control, you could barely make out what people were saying from 3 feet away. The only way you can enjoy a movie is to put your face into the screen. I understand there are several similar Toshiba models (including the 19LV610U and 19LV611U) with a like volume problem. I thought I might simply bridge this problem with a cheap plug in speaker system, but read in the owner's manual you can only attach an analog sound system if you have the 26 inch model! Also, for a minor quibble, this is called a 19 inch tv, but it only measures out at 18 and one-half inches. My wife and I own other Toshiba TV's, and love each of them. Don't avoid Toshiba TV's, but do avoid this model. By the way, I ultimately bought a Sharp LC22DV27UT, which is the bomb, and as I update this on June 22, 2009, is on sale at a really nice price with free shipping at Amazon.

Great Buy
Found this unit at costco (display model) for $160.00. Picture is great and I would give it a 4/5 on sound quality!

Previous comment regarding sound is fixable!
Also picked up this model Toshiba from Costco. Sound was terrible. But with a quick call to Costco technician (yes, Costco has technical support) we were walked through a simple "fix." Works great now!

Questions & Answers
Question : How good are the toshiba LCD tv's?
Going to buy my mom a 37" or 42" 720p tv. Not so much worried about the best pic quality, but i don't want some tv like vizio or westinghouse that will break in a year. Toshiba is in between is a little cheaper than most high end brands, and for the most part it seems that people have had good experiences w/ them. What do you think?
Answer:
I have one, its awesome!

Question : How to set toshiba lcd tv back to cable from analog setting.?
I just purchased a toshiba 15 inch lcd tv/dvd and in the auto set up I selected analog just to see if anything would come in. Now I am having trouble on how to switch it back to cable and was wondering if anyboy knew how. the model number is 15lv505 or 15lv506 and the manuel is no help I will give ten points if anybody can help me. Also the auto set up feature only works once.
Answer:
In the Menu, there must be an option for "Channels" Channel Scan, or something similar. Similar force a new Channel scan. When it asks you Antenna or Cable, select Cable.

Question : My new Toshiba LCD TV keeps switching it self on and off?
We got a new Toshiba LCD TV, about a week ago now and it's starting to keep turning itself off and then turning it self on about every hour or so, we ignored it but it's starting to get really annoying when watching a movie or playing on the PS3. We've try'd unplugging it for 4 hours and plugging it back in but still it keeps turning off, it turns off for about 3 seconds and turns back on.Help?
Answer:
Both answers posted before me are correct, but that's only half of it. if the sleep timer isn't the problem then the tv may be suffering a power issue. the TVs internal power switch may be going haywire. If that's the case you should consult the corresponding retailer and have it exchanged. Before you consider taking my advice, I highly advise listening to the 2 previous answer posters before me.

Question : is this toshiba lcd tv i bought rubbish?
i recently bought my first lcd tv, a 32" toshiba...i dont really have anything to compare it to, except a CRT but to be honest the picture looks very pixelated/blurry when up close to the screen, especially any writing. from a distance it is ok. i thought it might be the feed but sky, freeview and dvd's look the same. i would have thought a dvd should be crystal clear. am i expecting to much or is this tv rubbish. the model is : Toshiba Regza 32AV615DB 32-inch Widescreen HD Ready
Answer:
HD signals should look nice and clear. Standard def signals may actually look worse on a digital TV compared to an analog TV. This is because a standard def digital picture is made up of only 480 horizontal lines. Your HDTV has either 720 or 1080 horizontal lines, so a standard def picture has to be increased to about double its original size.Bottom line: HDTVs are intended for HD signals.

Question : Which is better a Toshiba or a LG LCD Tv?
I'm getting a new TV for Christmas, so far it's a choice between a 32" Toshiba LCD Tv or a 32" LG Tv and I can't decide which. Can anyone tell me which one they think is better?
Answer:
Toshiba, definatly. I work with large screen TVs on a daily basis, Toshiba have a far better image, and far better customer support. LG used to be quality TVs, but these days are becoming more and more like cheap crap. Avoid if possible.

Question : I have a 52' toshiba lcd tv. A friend gave it to me because it got a little wet and sparked.?
What can I do to check simple things. I checked the fuses is there anything anybody else can think of. I know a little but with these circuits I am way out of my league. Not much money to spend now so didnt know any easy things to check
Answer:
did he give you the TV for free? is it completely dried out from the water? if there are shorts inside of it, you might find it very insurmountable to try and fix. also, it could also present a fire hazard. i really hope that you didn't pay anything for this, cuz it sounds like it might end up sitting on your curb.

Question : Toshiba LCD TV?
Has anyone ever had a Toshiba LCD TV or know anything about them? Specifically, model number 42HL67 ...... We were looking to buy one, but I'd like to know what everyone thinks about them and if they've had any problems with them. Thanks :)
Answer:
I do not own one, but I have repaired a couple. They are a very well built set, and parts are very easy to get from Toshiba. We have sold lots of these sets, the sets I have repaired were not any we sold. These were from one of the big box retailers, whose sets are not as high end as what a dealer can get. When I say dealer, I mean as a Toshiba Authorized Dealer, we get the cream of the crop. Our prices are a bit higher, but so is the level of service you get. Not to mention the level of the product's quality.

Question : Faint Vertical Grey Line on Toshiba LCD TV?
I have a 42in Toshiba Regaza X3030D which is over 2 years old, over the past year I have been getting a faint grey vertical line running right down the middle of the TV. Does anyone know what could be causing this?Is there a fix for it without having to send for repair.I may have found away of getting it fixed so will keep an I eye that, thanks for the answer, I was hoping it wasn't gonna be that
Answer:
with out a warranty you are not going to want this fixed. it's the lcd panel itself. You should have called toshiba when you first saw it. Good luck at this late date. Give them a call and explain how long this has been happening and they may help in some way. the price of new panel are usually close to the cost of a new set.
