Questions & Answers
Question : Why does my toshiba lcd tv starts on it;s own at night?
my toshiba LCD 32inch TV works perfectly fine but sometimes at night it just starts up on it's own. There is no timer set and it doesn't happen regularly so I'm wondering why it would be?

Answer:
Why do you leave it plugged in and switched on at night? What's the point of doing that?Over 75% of all house fires in Britain are caused by electrical items that are switched off, but left with the plug in and power on. Why take the risk?

Question : can a Toshiba LCD TV model no.20HIV86 work with interlace or progressive mode when i put a hdmi for the PS3?
when i put the hdmi. i want it to go to interlace if it can with0ut daming my tv or will it only go on progressive mode. whith an hdmi cable for ps3

Answer:
Your set will no doubt accept either interlace or progressive forms. However, the display is always progressive in an LCD TV. If the source signal is interlaced, the set will de-interlace it for display. There is no way to damage your TV as a result of input format selection.

Question : How do I reset my Toshiba LCD TV, the model is 19w330db?
When I turn the TV on there is just a blank blue screen. The owners manual says to select "menu" and then scroll down until you see the option to "reset" but when I press menu I cannot find anything that says about resetting. It seems to me that the menu I can view is not the menu you should be able to choose from if the TV was working properly. The owners manual also says about a menu only appearing when you first switch on the TV, this is the menu I can't seem to get.

Answer:
This Blank Blue screen is caused by LACK OF SIGNAL to the INPUT you have selected.....When you have it set to tuner, IF you are on Cable and are above channel 13....you have incorrectly accessed the Air/Uhf tuning and you need to set it to CABLEAnd there's ususally TWO ANTENNA CONNECTORS....One for AIR reception and one for CABLE reception...And the units with ONE connector...they have an Autoprogram mode with the choice of AIR or CABLE....Wrong input or Wrong Type of Tuner reception and the BLUE SCREEN comes on when there is no signal....SO.....you should check your antenna wire first and put it in the CABLE connector if you have 2 Antenna jacks (IF YOU HAVE CABLE or Satellite)Then pull out your instruction manual and read about how to set up your TV set....Sure, it may take an hour to read it, while walking thru the setup, but it's CHEAPER than getting a TV tech out to your home to do the setup....What is it now, $55 for in-home setup or $85 ??But that's your next choice....You don't need to RESET your TV, that reset just recenters your Video settings, like color contrast brightness....That's NOT your problem...Your problem is NO Signal to process, because you're off channel, off cable/air or your using a video input that has the device not connected or the device is turned off and not providing a video signal.....

Question : Problem using toshiba lcd tv as PC monitor?
Ok I can usually fix anything on a computer but this problem has me stumped after 3 hours of troubleshooting.I have a Nivida Geforce 8400 video card in my PC running windows XP SP3. The PC works fine on my other monitor boots up fine. Well I got a Toshiba 20HL85 model LCD TV screen. I think that model is discontinued on the website but I got it probably 2 or 3 years ago.I put the LCD TV in PC mode, pluged in the VGA cable from my PC/Video card to the LCD TV. Here's the strange problem. My computer boot up and start up shows up on the LCD TV and everything seems fine. After the normal Windows XP loading bar with black background for about 20 to 30 seconds the LCD TV just goes black as if nothing is pluged in with a "PC" in the lower right corner denoting it's on the PC video setting (basically as if I unplugged it).I've plugged it back into my other monitor and fooled around with the resolutions and acceleration settings. I've checked and fooled around with my video card driver and it's settings. Nothing.I consulted the LCD TV manual and there's nothing with this issue in it.I can't find any drivers that I need.Is there anyone who has heard of this issue or knows what to check that I missed? This is the key thing....After windows boots, the LCD TV goes blank and stays there as if nothing is plugged into it when it is powered on.I have A+ cert and have been fixing computers since I was 12 so I'm not a newb at this stuff. My guess is that it's the video card because I was able to get into safe mode and use safe mode on the LCD TVso far only safe mode and VGA mode works on the LCD TV but goes blank after normal boot up.I've tried it with refresh rate at 60hz as well... no luck.

Answer:
Simple. Your Windows is set to run at a resolution too high for your LCD TV to handle. When an LCD TV encounters a resolution too high for it to display, it displays nothing. That is why it works in safe mode and you can see the bootup screens, when the video signal from your PC is still at a lower resolution your LCD TV can display. Once it boots into normal-mode Windows, it uses the resolution you set it at, which is too high and refuses to work. You need to re-connect your PC to the last monitor that worked, drop the resolution down to something lower, then reconnect your TV.Oh, and you really should be using a DVI-to-HDMI cable instead of VGA.

Answer:

Question : i have a Toshiba LCD TV that has a TV guide fetcher . it does not recognize my cable box?
i hooked up the g cable and followed all the on screen instructions but it wont acept my scintifac atlanta box. any sugestions?

Answer:
This is a common problem, the cable box and the cable company enter into an agreement with a provider to supply the TV Guide menu. Even though your TV is capable of getting this guide, without the cable company providing the link to the guide, you can't get it. Samsung TV (many of the new ones) are capable of taking the signal directly from the cable (omitting) the cable box and provide your signal, and maybe the guide if the cable company has it as part of their programming. This may be the case for your Toshiba too. There might be a bonus for you when you skip the cable box. Sometimes the TV will pick up premium channels that you are not subscribed to because the box is what is blocking them.Good luck

Question : I have a toshiba lcd tv. My pc is hooked to it. How do I get sound? Do I need a cable?
PC problems. Need to know how to get sound on lcd tv from pc.

Answer:
You will definately have to get a cable to run from your sound output on the pc to the audio input of your tv. Read you TV's manual to see what kind of audio inputs you have and then go get a cable that matches both the pc and TV. Good luck.Hope this helps,Shawn

Question : Which is better a Toshiba or a LG LCD Tv?
I'm getting a new TV for Christmas, so far it's a choice between a 32" Toshiba LCD Tv or a 32" LG Tv and I can't decide which. Can anyone tell me which one they think is better?

Answer:
Toshiba, definatly. I work with large screen TVs on a daily basis, Toshiba have a far better image, and far better customer support. LG used to be quality TVs, but these days are becoming more and more like cheap crap. Avoid if possible.

Question : What are the best settings for my new Toshiba LCD TV?
I just bought my Toshiba 32AV502U and tried to play my Xbox 360 on it. My only problem is the that there is a bit of a "delay" (lag) between my button presses. I have turned on "Game Mode" or whatever it is, but there still is that little bit of lag that is really noticeable. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it? Should I just go return this TV and get a different kind? Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Hmm....Delays occur due to excessive VIDEO PROCESSING or Upconversion/Downconversions....I would start with making sure the XBox's video output is set to the TV's NATIVE RESOLUTION....If the TV has a Native resolution of 720 (the display panel's actual resolution) then you want the Xbox to output a 720 signal...Then if you have the ability to use HDMI, use it....Now....you're not ONLINE gaming are you? If so, the XBox is just way too busy making an HD picture AND accessing the Online game at the same time...If so, you may be forced to reduce the Video ouput resolution on your XBox even further because it's spending too much time building a picture for your TV set....And that would suck....after all you bought the TV and the XBox for HD Gaming !TVs really do not cause game lag as much as the Xbox does...they can cause MINOR lag if you are outputting a 1080 signal to a 720 TV...the TV would then have to DOWNSCALE the video to fit the TV screen, and that takes a little time...
