BUYER BEWARE....
I have had this television for a total of 20 months...and now it is worthless. The video panel suddenly went bad. A Toshiba certified repairman (after driving 2 hours) diagnosed the problem and reported $2700 for just a new panel, no labor or shipping included in that price. I regrettably didn't purchase an extended warranty so I am completely screwed. Toshiba customer support was rude and unempathetic to the point where I will never invest in anything "Toshiba." Just thought sharing my horror story may save someone else the heartache.....

Best Buy for HDTV!! No Problems! A+++++++
Received the TV a few weeks ago. Amazon delivery was fabulous. They unpacked and set up, even helped take the old stand into another room for me.
Picture is great, easy to understand remote. I set up my Bose Wave radio for speakers and it is a few tads below surround sound. The sound quality of the TV is average to above average. However, since I had the radio I figured I would give it a whirl. I did upgrade to a Monster Cable. I am not really sure it was worth the extra cost. I am electronically challenged and hate change and I do not have any problems understanding this set.
I researched the internet for hours doing price comparisons, quality, warranty, etc and found this brand, model and size were the best value for my family and myself. If you are on the fence between two TV's, buy this one!

Very concerned about this purchase.
I am very concerned about this purchase. After two weeks a vertical line appeared exactly 4 inches from the left hand edge of the screen frame. I contacted Toshiba who put me in touch with a local electronic repair company. I was asked by them to take photos of the line on the screen. They in turn would order what ever part was necessary after consulting with Toshiba. I have not yet heard back from the repair company. They said it be " a few days". If I had bought it from Best Buy I would have returned it to the store. I am unable to do that. Hopefully the problem will be resolved.

Screen Quality / Salesman Knowledge
"screens are graded either number 1,2, or 3. He told me that Sony and Toshiba are the only manufacturers to use only number 1 graded screens"
And you believed him? I dont.
You think Samsung uses a cheaper screen? I dont.
Just bought this Toshiba REGZA 46RV530U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV .
No specific comment yet ,too early - probably low frequency of repair and excellent picture quality.
But dont believe everything a salesguy tells you (or tells someone else who "knowledgably" passes it on to you).
They push what's best for them to push and will say anything to that end.

Great TV for the money, except for the uneven blacks.
Toshiba REGZA 46RV530U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
After looking for a good deal on a 46 or 47 inch LCD, I found this for about $1100.00 including shipping. I took a look at the screen at my local Best Buy, which had it for about $1600.00 plus tax and shipping, and I was sold. I bought it home and immediately noticed areas in the screen that were lighter than others. The only time it can be noticed is when the there is black bands at the top and bottom. If the screen is full, the picture is great. I'm going to Toshiba for help on this so we'll see.
The other major problem I have, and I think it's a Comcast issue and not one with the TV, is the audio blanks out for a second every few minutes or so on analog channels. HD, DVD and game works fine. After researching, I found many folks have the same issue with HDMI and cable, even though theirs is usually on HD channels. Anyway, it's the best deal I could find for the money and about worth what I paid. I'll probably go with Sony or Samsung when I'm ready to step it up.

Kudos for Toshiba
It was a rare moment when my Toshiba 32HL95 arrived complete with all necessary cables and, when plugged in, displayed a picture of clarity and high definition that I had never seen before. We love our Toshiba.

An excellent picture quality
I bought this LCD TV last week, compare with the Sony 32SA10 so far I owned, this one is better than Sony's. especailly by HDMI input, two inputs of component is convenient as well.

great picture. sound is a different story
Have had this TV almost 2 weeks. The picture is great, do not have the hd cable box hook-up as yet, but picture is still great. Fantastic for movies. The major setback is the sound. Listening to any music channels the bass must be turned off totally. The thumping sound is really bad when music is being played. I hope to get surround sound soon to take care of this problem. Another problem is the remote. Has a slide indicator on the side of the remote to switch to tv, cable, dvd etc....It is pretty hard to pick up the remote without accidentally changing this switch. Should have moved to the front of the remote. All in all pretty satisfied.

Bascially good, but no EPG
I just purchased this and got it opened and installed in the kitchen. It fit the cabinet opening and provides most of basic functions needed to watch TV off the air while preparing and eating meals in the kitchen.
The remote has a button labeled "GUIDE" but pressing it does nothing. Where's my EPG* (Electronic Program Guide)? I want it!! And I choose Toshiba because I expected this company of all of them to get it right and include that basic feature. Sanyo sure didn't, and no store seems to be able to display a working unit, and if they do (Sams Club didn't), they don't use an air signal that would allow the customer to see how well the EPG is formatted and displayed - these vary widely from set to set, some much more useful then others. Further, the stores that do display a working unit, don't seem to let you see the remote control to see if the placement of the buttons is useful to you. But in this case, even seeing the remote would have suggested the there was the EPG feature because the remote included a button to display it. The manual says of this button: "GUIDE Displays the channel guide in the CABLE/SAT mode." Major disappointment!
Buried in the menu/setup is a good signal strength indication with the display of the real vs. virtual channel numbers, the SNR** of the signal, and some info about the channel being tuned. This is especially helpful with aiming the antenna for the best reception. The set seems to equipped with just about every know connector for every signal type that might be found in a home or office. We plan to connect a netbook computer to to the 15 pin VGA socket to display recipes.
The Mute button has a "half" mode, so the first press reduced the volume level to about half, the second press completely mutes it, and the 3rd press returns to full level. If you have a noisy environment or someone using the set is hard of hearing, the maximum audio level may be inadequate.
There is a "feature", DynaLight(tm) Dynamic Back-Light Control, that seems to sometimes cause a "breathing" of the picture brightness - the image goes dim for a few seconds, then back up. I need to study this further, but it was noticeable several times and for no apparent reason.
There is some adjustment of the display's color temperature, but it doesn't give real values in degrees K, just terms like "Warm" with some controls you can tweak to make yourself happier.
Toshiba 26AV52R 26" LCD HDTV
*Electronic Program Guide - this is the feature that shows you what programs are on the channels now and in the immediate future, and usually allows you to select them for viewing, and possibly the set will tune to that program when it begins. This TV Guide info is transmitted over the air by the TV station itself and is available for free to every viewer who's TV will display it, assuming that you are receiving that info and your cable/satellite provider didn't strip it off before it got to your set. It saves you the time to look for the printed guide someplace else, and even makes it easy to directly select that program to watch.
**SNR - Signal to Noise Ratio is an indication of how well the signal is being received from the background noise: given in deciBels (dB) The bigger the number, the better the signal and the fewer artifacts you will see and hear on the program you are watching.

BE AFRAID of POOR Toshiba Quality
Like many of those who have rated this product I am really disappointed. We bought this TV for our father, a birthday present, at a cost over $1000. Less than 2 years in, the picture went black and the only answer we get is that the TV is out of warranty. Thank you for your $1000, now take a hike. It is clear that Toshiba knows they have a problem with this model, but I guess they, like Toyota, do the math and screw the customer. BE AFRAID

Be afraid, be very afraid
I still have all but one of the TV's purchased in my lifetime with only one repair bill amongst them. Until I purchased the Toshiba 37-RV530U that is. There is a one year warranty. Toshiba will stretch that an additional 3 months under certain circumstances. So my problems began in month 16: replaced the inverter box...over a $300 repair. Now in month 20: replacing the power supply box...over a $350 repair! I am not optimistic of the lifespan of this TV as I have already paid for it half again in repairs.
I have experienced the pixel loss problem mentioned in an earlier post but I choose to live with it. Very disappointed in Toshiba quality and warranty.

Great Bargain!
I purchased this item several months ago and it has performed up to expectations with not one problem. This unit compared to the other manufacturers of this type of product is priced affordably and is not difficult to setup. I saved a minimum of 350.00 or more and the difference in quality is not noticeable. For the money, who cares!!

Beware of this TV
We ordered this TV in July 2008. The first unit we received had defective sound quality - sounded like bad speaker wiring. We thought we were in luck when we could ship it back for free and get another one. After considerable delay due to back-orders, we received it in late AugustToshiba REGZA 37RV530U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV 2008. The TV was in a room where it was used only a few hours in the evenings. Although the picture quality was beautiful while it lasted, in December 2009 it disappeared completely. With only the sound working, of course Toshiba won't offer any warranties because the problem was outside of the one year purchase date. I think it is criminal that companies can sell a super expensive product that should last a decade, without any repercussions if it lasts only one year and one day. Build the price of the warranty into the product and then we will buy it. Until then, no more toshiba for us.

Failed after 15 months
Set was 15 months old (just 3 months out of warranty). Picture went out. Failure trouble report stated it was a inverter that went bad. However Toshiba won't sell the inverter without the panel assembly which cost...$1200 (I paid $1000 for the set 15 months ago). Toshiba's position is this is an old set (that was their exact comment) out of warranty and no consideration will be given...so much for a quality product. If you buy this set make sure you have a extended warranty or you will be very, very sorry. Last Toshiba product I will buy...

From channel 30 and up it gets so fuzzy some more than others. It's 7 month's old. On ch 50 & 51 it sometimes gets frozen and most turn off to get it to work. We got a samsung 32 lcd the same day and never had a problem, it Evan gets more ch than the toshiba. Can this be fixed? Why only some ch fuzzy?
Answer:
Bad tuner...get it to your nearest Toshiba Authorized service center, and bring your purchase reciept so they can copy it, to get Warranty Repair on your TV set.

Question : I bought a new toshiba regza LCD TV and it has a low humming that is always present.?
You can really only hear it if the TV is muted or at low volumes. Is a slight humming or buzzing from the speakers normal for LCD's?
Answer:
Hi,Are you sure its really coming off the speakers, not the TV itself? Here's something you can try, turn the internal speakers off by going into your sound menu. Do you still hear the sound? There should be absolute silence from the speakers since the speakers are now cut off from the internal amplifier. If you still hear the sound from the speakers, there's there is something wrong with the internal circuits of the amplifier. So since its not too late for you to replace with another model or perhaps get it exchanged if you like the same tv, then please do so.Oh, did you know you can connect sound without going through your tv to your sound system or stereo if you got audio in on your sound system.I never use the tv's speakers at my place, well its up to you.Good luck!

Question : i have a Toshiba LCD TV that has a TV guide fetcher . it does not recognize my cable box?
i hooked up the g cable and followed all the on screen instructions but it wont acept my scintifac atlanta box. any sugestions?
Answer:
This is a common problem, the cable box and the cable company enter into an agreement with a provider to supply the TV Guide menu. Even though your TV is capable of getting this guide, without the cable company providing the link to the guide, you can't get it. Samsung TV (many of the new ones) are capable of taking the signal directly from the cable (omitting) the cable box and provide your signal, and maybe the guide if the cable company has it as part of their programming. This may be the case for your Toshiba too. There might be a bonus for you when you skip the cable box. Sometimes the TV will pick up premium channels that you are not subscribed to because the box is what is blocking them.Good luck

Question : I have a toshiba lcd tv. My pc is hooked to it. How do I get sound? Do I need a cable?
PC problems. Need to know how to get sound on lcd tv from pc.
Answer:
You will definately have to get a cable to run from your sound output on the pc to the audio input of your tv. Read you TV's manual to see what kind of audio inputs you have and then go get a cable that matches both the pc and TV. Good luck.Hope this helps,Shawn

Question : what should i buy, samsung la40r81 or toshiba 42a3500 lcd tv?
i was looking for an lcd tv and i narrowed my search to these two models, but i'm really confused now, which one is better?
Answer:
Definitely buy the samsung. Samsung is a highly regarded tv company. Also their sets look absolutely amazing....in terms of picture and just the way they're physically built. Also with more hdmi ports you can plug more hd stuff into your tv such as a blueray player, your cable box, a ps3/xbox 360 or hd video camera. The hidden speakers also add a certain wow factor. Overall i'd say that the samsung set is top.....Oh and don't worry bout the difference in size being a big factor...with tvs they measure diagonally and seriously...a couple of inches makes like no difference when the tv is that big...like you really can't tell at all.anyways...thats my little blurb.good luck! ;)

Question : how do you change resoloution on a toshiba 37av502u lcd tv?
don't have a manual so need step by step Thanks in advance! It says 480i at the top of the screen i know it has to at least go up to 720i
Answer:
If you mean the display resolution, it's made that way, you can't change it. To change it, you would have to get a better TV set.If you mean the resolution of the video, that's determined by the video itself. You can't change it.

Question : On my Toshiba LCD TV there are certain area's where I can see horizontal lines on my screen.?
I bought a 40" Toshiba LCD about 3 or 4 months ago, I noticed about a week ago that on the left most side of the screen there began to show horizontal lines on the screen. They are equally spaced down almost the top half of the screen each extending to a random point straight to the right. It is most noticeable in the far upper left, which can be seen from far away, while the others appear only when I sit close to play xbox. They were not there before, and as an avid gamer they are becoming a bother, I have the warranty on the thing from Geek Squad but I really would rather know if I can quick fix it myself. I read that it might be interference, it's not, I unplugged everything from the sockets save the TV and the lines remained. I messed with every setting, from backlight to contrast in an effort to dull or erase them to no avail. It bothers me when I cannot fix things myself and I would like to have some idea as to what is wrong when the tech gets here (if i have to call him). I'm thinking that it might be something wrong with the backlight, but I honestly don't know how one of these things works! Help!
Answer:
this is a bad panel. Nothing you can do save calling a technician to replace the panel. You may want to take pictures of the problem and e-mail it to the tech. He will need pictures to get toshiba to authorize a panel replacement. This way the tv may stay at your house while the panel is on order.

Answer:
well you could get in touch with the people that made your TV and ask for A television technician and don't forget to tell them everything that is wrong with your TV set
