Great Picture
Well defined picture in HD, very useful and convenient remote especially with cable service. Toddler has touched screen and left marks we are unable to remove- tough to clean screen.

I like everything but these dark lines on the screen
Ours is 2 years old and has had a dark line down the middle for about a year. Now it has one on either side of the screen, too, and the one in the middle is getting darker.

Love It.
Bought this in December 2007, and it was money well spent. My wife wanted to upgrade from our 35" tube. I was reluctant, but am happy I went along. I had seen LCDs at friends and relatives houses, and was convinced that they were not that much better than what we had. Well they definately didn't have this.
The picture quality on the HD chanels is amazing. My wife, who does not watch sports, will watch now just to see the picture.
The sound is a little worse than what we had in our tube TV, but I knew that going in. If I want realy good sound, for a movie or music, I run it through our surround sound and its all good.
If you can find one of these at a discount for its age, you will not be dissapointed.

Screen broke for no reason after a year!
We purchased the TV brand new from our local electronics store.
After owning the TV approximately eighteen months, we awoke one morning to find the inner screen shattered. Nobody had touched it during the night and it was perfectly fine the night before.
The extended warranty we had purchased for the TV was useless as the warranty company refused to fix the TV because they said we must have abused the TV.
So, we wasted almost $2000 for a television that lasted a year and a half.
We will never buy another Panasonic TV or LCD TV. We went with plasma for the replacement television.
Rating :
Own it for now 3 years
This is a really good TV. But buy a newer one. This on was made in 2007. And now we have 2010.

Purchase an extended warranty with this TV
I purchased this TV on August 1, 2007. A year later, the TV would not always power on. The instructions advise resetting the TV by holding the on/off button down for five seconds. This generally took care of the problem. Last week, the TV would not power on at all and would not reset. Repairs to the TV are $484, over 75% of the cost of the TV. Like others who have written about this TV, the TV has a faulty power board, apparently a problem with this TV. If you purchase this TV, you should also purchase an extended warranty.

"Customer Service" at Toshiba is an Oxymoron
Enjoyed this TV for 9 months, when it began powering itself on and off. It then began turning itself off every 10 minutes. One-year warranty provided for home servicing, but Toshiba said I lived too far away from repair center but they will pick up & return the set. Not a problem. After 2 weeks, learned that 1 part was not in stock. After 2 more weeks, Toshiba finally sent a powerboard. It was defective. They sent a 2nd one -- it too was defective, according to authorized service center. Toshiba rep actually giggled when I asked about a loaner or replacement TV. It will be TWO MONTHS on 7/28/08, with several more attempts to install parts that do not fix this TV.
One day after the above appeared on Amazon, my TV was returned, with 4 new (3 major) parts installed, & it still works 2 days later. It sure was a hassle, so I still wouldn't recommend Toshiba.

Recommended (with a caveat)
I purchased this TV for use in my home office, since I tend to watch most movies in that room. When the TV arrived, it did not work out of the box. I had no problems in reaching a person at Toshiba's help line, but I quickly found out that I could not return it for a new TV, which was incredibly frustrating. Instead, I had to register the TV, then take it to a Toshiba authorized service center for repair. Because this happened just before the Christmas season, the length of time for the repair was a little longer than it would've been otherwise. (A seasonal thing, obviously, so I can't fault anyone for that.) The gentleman at the repairshop was able to diagnose the problem right away, but indicated that the part had to be ordered. Basically, the TV would turn on, and I could get audio, but no video. I also was not able to access any of the TV's menus, obviously, because of the video problem.
It's a great TV, and has worked absolutely wonderfully since the day I got it back from the repair shop. I still recommend the TV, despite the problem I had with it, but I would suggest not purchasing high ticket items like this online. You might pay a little more getting a TV from a big box store, but you at least know that if it doesn't work out of the box, you can return it and get a new one in exchange on the same day and not suffer the hassles I had to.
Otherwise, I very much recommend this TV if you have need for one in a small room.
Rating :
Loving this lil TV so far..
The picture at 720p is excellent. Hands down.
The sound could be a lil better- but it can fill a small room quite nicely (I'ts in my bedroom)
Looks great hooked up to Any video gaming system.
Only con is I wish it was a little flatter and I'd like some "master" buttons on the unit just in case you lose that remote.

As good for less, Toshiba has out done itself again!!
2nd Toshiba tv, have never been as happy as I was with this purchase....saved $400 instead of Sony or Samsung and got a 120hz hdtv that rivals the performance of the biggest brands!! I researched tv's for months and you can't go wrong with this one.....

Great TV!!!
This is one fantastic TV! I have had it for about a month now and have enjoyed every minute. The picture is sharp (really deep blacks) and the 120Hz technology really does make a difference. I was amazed at the lack of pixelation, especially when watching sports and blu-rays. I bought this and a sony bdp 350 from Amazon Warehouse Deals (both open box units) and each has performed beautifully. They shipped free and INCREDIBLY fast. I cannot recommend this product enough.

Worth the price!
I've purchased refurbished items in the past and have always had good luck with them. Though with this item I was a bit worried since it is my most expensive refurbed! Let me say that I wasn't disappointed at all! Item was totally brand new and it had tons of features.
I'm still playing around with the settings but even the defaults look nice!
Audio and video display are crystal clear! Especially watching last Sundays SuperBowl!

Toshiba 46XV540U is great!!
I purchased the Toshiba 46XV540U at my favorite volume wherehouse store for $1199 one week ago. I originally planned on buying a Panasonic 42" 1080p Plasma, but after discussing Plasma panels with some video engineers at work, I was NOT convinced that it would be free from image retention (burn-in), especially since I watch a lot of 4:3 programming and I didn't want to lay awake at night worrying about having left-right bars burned into the screen. Then I set my mind on either a Sony W4100 or Z4100, but my local wherehouse only had a 40" Sony. The 46" cost too much. I settled on a Sony because I own a Sony 55" SXRD, which I find stunning, and as good as any Plasma or LCD, and it's 120Hz and 1080p/24 display. Then I saw the Toshiba, which stated that it had similar specs as my SXRD. After obsessing and doing extensive research, I decided to buy the Toshiba. I was hesitant since I really liked what I saw on the Sony LCDs. Out of the box, the Toshiba looked good, but the levels needed to be toned down. I initially used a THX DVD (any DVD that is THX certified, like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc), and the disc has a THX setup menu that will help you adjust any TV to look pretty darn good. Later I used the Video Essentials DVD for further adjusting. After setting the color, tint, brightness and contrast, I couldn't be happier. One of my biggest necessities of any HDTV is that it displays SD (standard def) channels well, and I'm happy to say that this Toshiba does a great job. HD on my Charter cable looks stunning in 1080i. Blu-Ray is jaw-dropping. I also watch a lot of sports and the 120Hz option looks great, and from what I've read in test reports, the Toshiba handles this better than Sony, and I condider the Sony better than Samsung for this. Anyways, the Toshiba colors are excellent, it gives deep blacks, I don't see any pixel blurring or lag and fast motion on sports looks rock-solid. AND, this 46" Toshiba cost about $500 less than a similar-sized Sony. The speakers in the Toshiba give satisfactory audio, especially for my bedroom, where I have this set. The image looks pretty good even at extreme angles. The screen is matte-finish, which is essential in my opinion to control reflections. The bezel of the Toshiba is gloss black. I would have preferred a satin-black bezel, but no problem. The Toshiba remote is well laid out. I recently owned a Toshiba 50" CRT rear projection set and I loved the remote on that set because of two things: 1) Mute does a half-mute first, then a full mute with a second press. Half-mute allows you to turn down the TV if answering a phone but you can still hear the sound. 2) The Channel Return will actually return you to a previous Input. So, if you are watching a DVD then switch to a cable channel to check out a football score, you can immediately return to the DVD by pressing the RTN button without the need of it bringing up the numerical menu or cycling through the Input options to get back to the DVD. This new Toshiba remote keeps these two great functions!! The 46RV540U is a terrific TV!

Excellent Value
This set is performing well. The white glove delivery set it up and all I had to do was set back and enjoy. Wasn't sure about ordering a television of this size online, but I would have no hesitation about ordering anything of this size again. My sister had bought a 42 inch Toshiba Regza from a store and I bought this 46 inch unit at less cost than her purchase. The set has excellent picture and the sound is better than I expected. The menu is simple to navigate and make any changes you may want to tweak.....I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a good price verses performance.

Great TV with a few minor issues
First of all of course the quality of the device; It's well built, has pretty much all the inputs you need and has a decent cable management system in the back (you'll need it). Image quality is good but not amazing when in standard resolution, HD quality however is very impressive (hooked up with an HDMI cable). DVD quality when played off a component DVD player is outstanding.
Audio quality of the TV is good, nice and loud with plenty of settings possible.
Switching between inputs leaves a little to be desired, it takes around 2-3 seconds for it to pick up on the input.
The bad:
I wanted to hang it on a wall, the specs do not mention the VESA mounts it has on the back, the manaual doesn't mention it either. Nor does the manual mention how to dismantle the stand, something you need to do in order to mount it.
The PC interface is fairly useless as it won't let you go above 1024*768, a real shame when you have a 1300*768 panel in front of you.
The TV doesn't come with ANY cables (not even an antenna coax cable) so expect to invest another $200 in decent cables.
Pricing is also an issue, after purchasing this TV the price dropped almost $300 and Amazon wouldn't issue a refund, so keep your eye on the price and/or reseller.
Despite it's few quirks it's certainly an appealing TV and one of the cheaper A name brands in this price class, we researched several non A name brands (like Syntax Olevia) but they don't com e close to the quality of this TV.

Great TV at a reasonable price...
...I bought this LCD TV back in January so I have had several months to determine how much I like it. Bottom line, I love it. We use it in our master bedroom in an armoire and the picture and sound are fantastic. I ran our HD DVR box to the TV using an HDMI cable (pricey but worth it) and the progressive scan DVD player using one set of the component inputs. This is my second Toshiba and I am a huge fan of their TV's.

A very nice television for any room in your house
I purchased this Toshiba because I wanted to upgrade my big-black-box of a 29 inch TV. I was going to wait until next Summer but circumstances prevailed and I am very happy with this set. The picture is visually as big as the 29 inch television. It took two men to lift the old TV and one hand to lift this TV. Not to mention it's only about four inches thick. A sixteen inch wide by twelve inch deep shelf holds it quite nicely. The image is excellent for its size, and the color rendition and detail are excellent for the average size room. It's not a hard TV to get used to using (it's HDMI - on a HD Digital cable box) and puts out a magnificent picture. The HD cable feeds show detail and color that is excellent. Ben Hur was on regular cable today and the color rendition was better than any version I ever watched. My DVD is on an "S" connector but I watched Akira Kurasawa's RAN (CHAOS) the other day and saw details that astounded me. The reds are vivid and the yellows blinding. On C-Span's Washington Journal you can see the colors of the capital building as the sun rises. The sound is excellent right out of the TV itself. You can hear "echos" and "reverbs" when the source is good stereo. In about 6 months I will add amplifier and five channel sound speakers. I am very satisfied with this purchase. My Mother had to spend a month at my house after heart surgery and she loved watching the football games on this TV. She even joked about taking it home with her and she is NOT a TV person.
Things you should know: 1) the HDMI cable is 1/2 inch thick, sticks out the bottom, requires an adapter for most cable boxes, and obstructs the back panel that is supposed to hide the cables. Nothing will hide that cables. 2) the "surge protector/filter" is not cheap - I paid $199 for the one I use. But considering it's protecting a $1500 TV, it's worth it. My house has lousy electric and in four years surges have blown two protectors. Also HDTV needs a filter. 3) Buy good audio cables, I can hear how cheap my older audio cables are when I use the DVD and CD player - especially on orchestral and symphonic music. You don't hear the problems with broadway musicals or pop stuff on DVD and CD, but symphony orchestras and fine movie soundtracks need better cables. I have Digital Music on my cable, too. The all Opera channel is a delight to listen to now. 4) You need a digital satelite or digital cable HD feed - that requires special boxes and a service call.

Good Camper TV
Love my Toshiba TV. Use it in my camper and it works great. Requires a little more juice than I'd prefer but does the job. Speakers seem a little weak when surroundings are loud like when it's raining and you're in a camper with canvas bunks.

Locks up and must be unpluged to be reset
I purchased this unit for a guest room because my mother in law was coming to visit. By the time she came, it was past the 14 day return period for defective product. We only then found out that when changing channels, fast fowarding the CD etc. the unit would lock up and go to a black screen. You couldn't even turn it on or off. The controls on the set or the remote wouldn't work. If you unpluged it for 10 minutes, it would then work till it locked up again. As it was going to be a lot of trouble to send it to Toshiba to fix, I thought I could live with it. It got worse and I finally sent it back. Last night I went to Fedex to pick it up and it worked for a whole 10 minutes before locking up again. This time even unpluging it for over an hour didn't help. In total because it is in the guest room it probably doesn't have 20 hours total use on it.
I purchased it because I wanted a brand name that wouldn't give me trouble and Sony doesn't make small TVs any more. I paid $500. Even when it works the DVD sounds like it is tearing itself to bits and the controls take forever to do something after you push a button.
I now suspect that instead of getting a brand name TV I paid a brand name price for a third world junker with a brand name glued on to it.
It was so new when I got mine that there weren't any warnings on the internet. Now there are a lot of people that have the same problem I have and one guy says he has sent his back twice with no results!!!

Poor choice for trailer
This TV came with our trailer. It looks nice enough (fairly plain), operates easily enough and has decent enough sound. Where it is really bad for us is the vertical angle. If you're in a trailer there is a good chance that it's mounted up high, and with this TV you start to lose quality immediately as your viewing angle drops. The manufacturer doesn't specify viewing angles, I'd be interested to see what they consider this to have. But our TV is up with the cabinets and it's totally unwatchable sitting on any of the seats in the trailer. You either stand or you get up on the top bed to view it. My negative rating is based solely on this feature so if that's not a consideration for you then don't worry about it. The horizontal angle is okay, by the way.

Question : Faint Vertical Grey Line on Toshiba LCD TV?
I have a 42in Toshiba Regaza X3030D which is over 2 years old, over the past year I have been getting a faint grey vertical line running right down the middle of the TV. Does anyone know what could be causing this?Is there a fix for it without having to send for repair.I may have found away of getting it fixed so will keep an I eye that, thanks for the answer, I was hoping it wasn't gonna be that
Answer:
with out a warranty you are not going to want this fixed. it's the lcd panel itself. You should have called toshiba when you first saw it. Good luck at this late date. Give them a call and explain how long this has been happening and they may help in some way. the price of new panel are usually close to the cost of a new set.

Question : How do I reset my Toshiba LCD TV, the model is 19w330db?
When I turn the TV on there is just a blank blue screen. The owners manual says to select "menu" and then scroll down until you see the option to "reset" but when I press menu I cannot find anything that says about resetting. It seems to me that the menu I can view is not the menu you should be able to choose from if the TV was working properly. The owners manual also says about a menu only appearing when you first switch on the TV, this is the menu I can't seem to get.
Answer:
This Blank Blue screen is caused by LACK OF SIGNAL to the INPUT you have selected.....When you have it set to tuner, IF you are on Cable and are above channel 13....you have incorrectly accessed the Air/Uhf tuning and you need to set it to CABLEAnd there's ususally TWO ANTENNA CONNECTORS....One for AIR reception and one for CABLE reception...And the units with ONE connector...they have an Autoprogram mode with the choice of AIR or CABLE....Wrong input or Wrong Type of Tuner reception and the BLUE SCREEN comes on when there is no signal....SO.....you should check your antenna wire first and put it in the CABLE connector if you have 2 Antenna jacks (IF YOU HAVE CABLE or Satellite)Then pull out your instruction manual and read about how to set up your TV set....Sure, it may take an hour to read it, while walking thru the setup, but it's CHEAPER than getting a TV tech out to your home to do the setup....What is it now, $55 for in-home setup or $85 ??But that's your next choice....You don't need to RESET your TV, that reset just recenters your Video settings, like color contrast brightness....That's NOT your problem...Your problem is NO Signal to process, because you're off channel, off cable/air or your using a video input that has the device not connected or the device is turned off and not providing a video signal.....

Question : Why does my Toshiba 42" LCD TV keep switching off when repair-shop says its just fine?
I have recently moved into a new flat and my 42" Toshiba LCD, which was working fine in my old flat, keeps switching off after 2-3 seconds. I sent it to a Toshiba recognised repair shop and they told me the TV worked fine in their shop. Can this have something to do with the power supply of my flat (other appliances works fine), or is the repair guys simply lying to me?
Answer:
Does the TV have a 'sleep timer' on it? That may need adjusting, but to be honest it doesn't sound like it.It may also draw so much current off your mains supply that could also cause it to switch off because it doesn't get enough.Have you actually seen the TV working in their repair shop or are you taking their word for it that it works? Could you ask a neighbour if they would be willing to plug an extension lead into one of their sockets to try it out? Just explain you think your electricity supply may be faulty and ask (nicely) if you could borrow their one for a few minutes. If it still plays up, I would give your local electricity supply company a ring and see if they can suggest anything that may be at fault.Perhaps get your sockets tested.Do you plug the TV into the same socket each time? It could be the socket itself is faulty, so try it with something else like a table lamp.

don't have a manual so need step by step Thanks in advance! It says 480i at the top of the screen i know it has to at least go up to 720i
Answer:
If you mean the display resolution, it's made that way, you can't change it. To change it, you would have to get a better TV set.If you mean the resolution of the video, that's determined by the video itself. You can't change it.

Question : Need help choosing a 32"lcd tv, the Toshiba 32AV502R or the VizioVO320E. Which is better in terms of hardware?
I don't want answers based off of "brand image". I've just been trying to figure out which one has more features and offers more performance but they seem pretty neck to neck. I can get the Toshiba for about 30 dollars less than the Vizio.
Answer:
Between the two the Toshiba is a much better tv. Vizio is a cheap brand and made in China, they also have a none responsive customer service center if you have any problems you want answers for. If you can look at the Panasonic or Samsung they are a bit better. Hope this will help you out.
