Awesome T.V. and a good value

I just recently bought this tv. Very good quality and compared to others in its class, a very good value. I did a lot of research before settling on this tv. I looked at Sony, LG and plasmas from Panasonic. I wanted a bigger tv and was coming from a still pretty nice 40" Sony Bravia. I wanted to get another Sony, but they were just too expensive for the size that I wanted. LG is nice too, but they are kinda new to the LCD tv market. Panasonic had great values on their tvs, but I'm not so big on picture burn in and large power consumption, which plasmas have. I happened to look at this tv because of it's design and the energy star compliance that it has. The TV is gorgeous, especially on top of the tv stand I also purchased the same day for the tv. I ordered from Vann's. The experience was great. The was no sales tax or delivery fee. Delivery was problem free and the tv arrived in good working order. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends. The only problem I have with the tv is the sound quality. I good surround sound system will fix that problem.

Toshiba LED matches Samsung LED

I recently purchased this TV after longing for a Samsung LED TV. The Toshiba was about $700 cheaper but I have a picture and sound quality that is equal to the Samsung LED TV. When playing Blu-Ray movies and regular DVD's my Toshiba BDX2700 wireless Blu-Ray player up converts the older DVDs to darn near blu-ray quality. I would easily recommend both of the great products. Watching Sports Center on ESPN is worth the look see just for the colors and I mean drop dead beautiful colors that are used on their sets.

Toshiba SV670U

This TV is great overall and even greater value for the money. The feature that separates it from the competition is the ability to control dejudder and 120/240 separately. Some media looks bad when they are both turned on, so ability to turn off dejudder great if you don't want the movie to look like it was recorded with a camcorder.
The remote could have been better: even though you can program certain buttons to switch you to specific inputs (dvd, sat, tv, etc), you have to hold down the buttons for a few seconds for them to actually switch to that input.
No one can complain about picture quality on this tv. The blacks are exceptionally dark. If you make a side by side comparison to a high end 2010 plasma tv when both are turned off, the plasma screen looks so gray that it seems like it is turned on. The difference is even bigger when they are both actually on.
Brightness, colors, inputs, looks, build quality are top notch. No complaints so far.

Toshiba Regza 55SV670U

Puchased this from Beach for 1,575, no tax free ship, best deal I have seen. Slow start to the order process but once picked up by Manna, very smooth process, delivered by two men, unboxed, inspected, they lifted it out for me. Got it hooked up and everything synced.

I have been reading prof and user reviews for weeks on this thing. Nearly spent more on a plasma but I felt I needed a bright screen due to this going into a bright room. The room area as bordered by the seating is around 13' x 14', with the main couch looking straight on from around 13' feet away and a loveseat at about a 45 degree angle x 8 feet away from the screen center. The 55" seems perfect for this space. This room flows into the kitchen area and from the kitchen table 18-20 feet away the picture is still awesome.

I compared to side-lit models and felt this screen with full backlight provided better uniformity, especially after scene changes. It seemed to me that the thinner, side-lit models took an extra second for the brightness to become uniform..I have not noticed that on this screen, scene changes even from dark to light and vice-versa seemed to adjust instantly.

I was concerned about the reflective screen as there are many windows, when the TV is off you can see everything, when on the brightness overcomes any reflection. My other concern was over viewing angle. I see no distortion, loss of color or brightness from over 60 degrees off front dead center(total 120 degree field of view) which more than covers where anyone could view this tv in my room. I spent a whopping 5 mins playing with settings and still get the "wow" factor, given time I will take a more scientific approach with the settings. This is a beautiful TV and I could not even imagine why anyone would spend an additional 1,000 to 2,000 dollars for some percieved big difference in picture quality.

I am convinced that generally, people use review forums to complain about problems, and most people do not take the time to write about good experiences. So, when you read 100 reviews you might see 20% average or poor reviews thinking 1 in 5 are unhappy, but in reality those that are happy dont bother, so, the actual % who are happy/satisfied I would bet are in the 95% range. This is true with anything you might buy.

Went to BB and a couple of other retails to see this against other models. At first I did not even look at prices, as I wanted to focus on pic quality. I did not seen anything I thought looked better.

After exhaustive review reading I do understand that a prof reviewers job it to point out flaws. CNET must have 100,000 dollars in meters, software, and gizmos to evaluate a tv screen. If you read their reviews I am not sure I feel comfortable buying anything. The flaws pointed out on this TV simply cant been seen by me, a person with high expectations and 20/20 vision at least while I wear my glasses. Maybe if you put their $8,000 top pick right next to this TV I could be convinced I could be 10% happier, but for the average consumer its just not worth rediculous money. Two neighbors have walked in over the last couple days and stopped dead in their tracks looking at this picture. Sports are fluid in movement and it feels like the puck or basketball is on its way towards me on the couch.

All in all could not be happier with this TV.

Awesome TV!

This set replaced an ageing 62" Toshiba DLP HDTV which has served me well for several years. Before buying it however, I did the research, read the reviews, and checked them out in the stores. I eliminated Plasma's because IMHO, they look dull, dim, and boring. The only thing they have going for them is their blacks. Their whites look dirty.

So, plasma's were out. Looked at LCD and LED sets from Samsung, Sony, and LG. Samsung, I will never buy Samsung products again. Their customer service sucks. I tried getting a 24" monitor (only a year old) repaired under warranty and they won't repair it, what they will do is keep sending you refurbished replacements that are in worse shape then what you sent them to be repaired. So, I'm done with Samsung. Sony is cool but very expensive and LG wasn't up there.

So, the Toshiba's picture quality and features are unbelievable. Not only does this set have those inky blacks that plasmas are known for, it has the brightest, cleanest whites you'll ever see. I am so glad I purchased this set over any other. Out of the box, the picture is amazing. And there is so much stuff to tweak to get an awesome picture. The screen is beautiful, the picture quality is amazing, and there's enough inputs to satisfy anyone.

The delivery was perfect. Pilot did an excellent job and the TV arrived in perfect condition. All in all, this set is a steal for what you're getting. And as always, Amazon is great!

Portable 720p HD LCD TV

Customer Review :

Better then the compitition

I finally found a flat screen that I could mount under the kitchen cabinets that had both good picture and sound. A salesman pointed out that Toshiba had front mount speakers directed out into the room rather than speakers that were mounted on back or bottom of TV like all the competition. I think the quality of speakers is better as well. Picture quality is great. I am using it in the HD mode. I found an under cabinet mounting system so that the counter is totally clear.

I am a happer camper!

Amazon Reviews

Thanks to all the buyers who took time to review the many TV brands, I was able to become educated about the confusing new world of LCDHD televisions, acronyms and product hypes. Amazon reviews are reliable and are filled with more actual product facts. They are more trustworthy than asking a store salesman for his commission based opinion. In fact, Amazon is my mega store shopping experience. I buy everything possible from Amazon because of the reviews, great pricing, free shipping, return policies.[[ASIN:B001TOD3I2 Toshiba 22AV600U 22-Inch 720p Portable LCD HDTV, Black]

Well-balanced

This TV is something that at first sight doesn't amazes you that much, it pretty much looks like a regular production TV, but after you spend time with it, even though (at first sight) the images don't look that sharp as compared to other TVs, if you pay close attention you find out that the image looks more unabridged than compared to other TVs, it doesn't show you that fancy look other TVs advertise but in deep this TV shows you a much more accurate perception of images. It doesn't show that fancy colorful image that sometimes deceives your eyes, instead it shows you an image as real as it could be.

happy with my purchase

i am really happy with my purchase- it is exactly what i was looking for- the picture quality is great, and the HD signal is incredible- I originally bought this tv for my work out room, but i am using it right now in the office and living room in place of my huge projection tv that has terrible picture quality- it is extremely portable- the size is great. i have not found anything to complain about, but i have only used it 2 days. I moved it from the upstairs bedroom to the downstairs den- and it took little effort. The audio is more than sufficient.

Good PQ and decent sound. Looks good too in the kitchen. A welcome extra feature was an S-video plug, since my set top box in the kitchen has no HDMI output, and the standard composite or cable connection produces doubling.

We bought this TV for our exercise room so we could watch DVD's while we ride our excercise bike. The picture is very clear and the sound is fine. The stainless steel design is the main reason we purchased it. It looks very sharp. This TV is a good buy for the money.

Perfect

This television is perfect for our kitchen. It is actually on a counter divide between the kitchen and living room and gets switched back and forth as needed. The volume, which I've heard bad things about on identical models, is more than adequate. No problems hearing it over the dishwasher or exhaust fan from 15 feet away. Picture and function are great for the kitchen environment, as well. My wife likes to cook big meals and now can keep herself entertained with whatever's on or with a dvd.

The only problem that I have is that the remote has some crossover with our iHome music player, sometimes controlling the iHome with the tv remote. Doesn't always happen, but you never know when it will.

Great tv for not a lot of money.

Good buy

Very pleased with this tv. It was our first flat screen LCD tv, I reviewed many via the internet. I saw this in a showroom with the equivalent Sony next to it, I couldn't tell any difference in picture quality. Setup was easy and the picture quality is excellent. Our viewing distance is exactly nine feet so this is the perfect size television for us, I am not disappointed that I didn't get a larger one.

Good price on Name brand

Simply, I paid Incredible price with high Specificated LCD TV.

I prefered Samsung TV because I have 47" one in my living room and I never seen any other better TV than mine so far.

But It was hard to find good quality one on 40" TV with less than $700.

I found just right one on Amazon.com with this Toshiba TV for my master bed room.

I am so happy, picture quality, sound quality are above satisfaction.

I paid $649 with free shipping, handling, NO TAX, not anything.

I love Amazon.com, Thanks~!!!

Toshiba HDTV is the best

When I ordered this TV, I used Consumer Reports to evaluate which TV was best. This Toshiba was not ranked first.

However, since we already had an older cathode ray tube Toshiba TV and a DVD/VCR Toshiba recorder, it seemed likely that we would select the Toshiba HDTV.

We are happy that we selected the Toshiba since the quality of the HDTV matches that found on the other Toshiba equipment that we have.

We are very happy with our purchase.

Look at the Toshiba

This TV (Toshiba Regza 42" HDTV) shows a good picture and the sound is fine, but it was a little expensive. I have had it since 2008 and it needs service already. It blacks out. You can turn it off, then on and the picture will come back on, but it goes right back off. It has been doing this for the last month. It would go off then come back on and stay on but now you can only get sound, because it only stays on for 30 seconds. I wouldn't buy it again. Good thing I have a 5 year warranty.

Great TV... Interference with ATT UVerse Equipment

TV is great. The sound quality is something I was not expecting, and since it is on a small room there is no need to put surround (it really is that good). The only issue I found (I actually thought there was something wrong with the TV) is that it causes interference with ATT UVerse Equipment. The solution is to disable the automatic light adjustment on the TV (change it from Auto to Standard or any other Setting, just not "Auto"). Other than that little interference issue it is a great TV.

One of the best values going for an HDTV

I bought this TV around Thanksgiving of 2009 for around $1k. At that time it was the best value by far for a 46", 120hz HDTV. It can be bought today for $700 and for that price it is an outstanding deal. I just bought another one for our son as no other HDTV at that price point available today can match it for picture quality verses screen size.

The black levels for this set are about the best you can find in an LCD TV. The screen is low gloss which all but eliminates reflections. The menu has a wealth of settings and options. The picture quality is so good it almost looks like 3D.

This set is being closed out and can be had for a fantastic price. The fact it still competes so well with newer TVs while at the end of its manufacturing run shows just how good this HDTV is. If you are looking for a good deal then snatch one of these up before they are all gone.

Fix for the two most common problems with this TV

I purchased this set to replace an old CRT model and have been blown away by the quality of the picture. Truly one of the best bang-for-the-buck models out there. That said, there are two common problems that people have experienced with this set and others in the Toshiba Regza series. I had both, but have found solutions.

1. CABLE REMOTE CONTROL INTERFERENCE

When the TV is in "auto-view" mode (the default), it emits an IR signal to measure ambient light, and adjusts the TV's backlight brightness accordingly. This signal can cause remote controls for certain cable boxes (in my case, a Motorola DCH6416 from Suddenlink) to work intermittently or in some cases not at all. From what I've read, remote controls for some other devices (satellite boxes, audio systems, etc.) can also be affected. The solution is simply to switch the TV from "auto-view" to one of the fixed modes such as "standard". Granted, this is not a perfect fix as you are disabling an advertised feature of the TV that you've paid for. Some others have reported that separating the TV and the affected device by several feet will eliminate the issue as well, although this may not be practical depending on the physical setup of your system. For me, disabling AutoView solved the problem and I'm satisfied with that.

2. AUDIO DISTORTION/ECHO USING HDMI INPUT

Search the web and you'll find this to be a common issue as well: after several hours of use, the sound can become distorted and tinny, with a buzzing sound and an odd "echo" effect. This affects the TV's own speakers as well as the signal coming from the set's audio output jacks. Toshiba has known about this problem for some time; from their web site (dated 3/26/10):

"To ensure the satisfaction of our customers and to maintain the integrity and quality of our products, Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. ("TACP") is posting this notice about the 40XV645U, 40XV648U, 46XV645U, 46XV648U, 52XV645U, 52XV648U, 42ZV650U, 47ZV650U, 55ZV650U, 46SV670U, 55SV670U TVs. This is not a safety issue.

Recently, it has come to our attention that users of a small percentage of those model TVs that we have shipped and are used in connection with a set top box via HDMI may experience a random audio echo while watching programming. If this were to occur, it would only be after many hours of continuous viewing and can be temporarily resolved by turning the TV off and on again.

If this audio echo is interfering with your enjoyment of your TV, please contact TACP Customer Solutions at 1-800-631-3811."

The permanent fix is to upgrade the firmware from ver 6.1.43 to 6.1.45 by downloading from Toshiba's support site at [...]. This admittedly is not for the technically challenged, as it requires downloading the firmware executable, extracting the contents to a USB flash drive, then finally applying the patch to the TV via a somewhat convoluted procedure. I initially had some problems, and it wasn't until I manually changed the directory structure of the flash drive to put the boot image file in the root (instead of a sub-folder as created by the upgrade installer) that I was able to get it to work. But then again, I'm a tinkerer with a fair amount of computer knowledge, and I was determined to figure it out by myself. Those not so inclined would probably find that Toshiba's tech support would walk them through the process, and I've even heard in some cases they will send you a flash drive with the patch pre-installed -- all you have to do is insert it into the TV's USB port and turn it on.

These two issues aside, I'm very pleased with this set.

Overall, very pleased

I have had my Toshiba 46XV645U TV for about a week now. It replaced an old RCA projection TV that was HD "ready" and actually had a decent picture in HD bur nothing like the newer tv's I had seen. I was lucky enough to find the TV at Walmart for $699 plus tax with free shipping to my house. It was packaged very well with the factory carton inside a very heavy shipping carton. Delivery was by FedX. The TV is ready to place where you want it when you get it out of the shipping carton's as the stand is already attached to the TV. While my wife put the batteries in the remote, I plugged it in and attached the HDMI cable from my Directv HD DVR and was ready to go.
After a short read of part of the manual, and determining that the picture setting should be on "native" for the best HD picture, we both were amazed at the picture quality. I went to the Direct web site and found the code to program into my Direct remote for the TV. The only issue, as has been discussed on several of the reviews, was after a short time, the remote stopped working until the TV was turned off and back on, and then everything worked OK for another bit, and then it did the same thing. I couldn't get a lot of help from online sources but when reading the TV manual a little closer, found where it stated that some issues were possible with HDMI equipment connected to the TV. I began experimenting with the settings and finally found the one that solved the problem for me. It was the speed setting for the on /off on the TV. I set mine to the fast setting and have had no problem since. I think the other setting was constantly emitting a signal that interfered with the Direct receiver.
The sound for us is ok as we weren't using a theater system on the other TV although I am considering at least a sound bar. It seems silly to have the capabilities of this TV and not use them. All in all, I am VERY pleased with everything from the price, shipping and operation of the TV.

DISGUSTED!

We bought this TV 1 1/2 years ago and it decided to act up 2 days after the 1 year warranty was up! Once we checked on the warranty, we kept hoping that it was the fact that we weren't using an HDMI cable - so we bought one. THat didn't help the main problem we were having. The first thing that showed up was a red line down the left side of the screen, eventually turned green and blue. This was the problem that seemed to be solved with the HDMI cable... and FYI: the Topshiba Service people are clueless!

THe MAJOR PROBLEM is the double images, lines and un-viewable picture which we were also hoping was going to be fixed with the HDMI cable. NOPE! Just tapping the TV lightly on the back seemed to help for a while but NOW, it is always there. You can't watch the TV. We are now going to have to take it to an authorized service center. Every TV that I have ever had ATLEAST lasted me 7 years - most 10 years.... BUT C'mon, 1 YEAR! HORRIBLE!!!!! Be Careful - and if it isn't the money, I would recommend a Sony or LG. If it is money, a Vizio or Sanyo with do this same job and last a heck of a lot longer.

Questions & Answers
Question : could iget a review of the toshiba lcd tv model 42HL57?
I plan on buying this tv this weekend would like to hear some feedback about it

Answer:
Consumer Reports reviewed a similar set, the 42HL67 set in it's March issue. The top rated set in the 40-42 inch range was the Samsung LN-T4053H, with a grade of 77. The Toshiba was eighth out of sixteen with a grade of 71. The weak points were SD performance and sound quality. They also didn't think much of the remote.

Question : Trying to get digital on an LCD Toshiba TV - lousy and keeps freeze framing?
Please tell me EXACTLY what I need to get digital TV without it freezing up. I need to know what to ask for when I go into a store before they end up selling me a bunch of stuff that makes no difference in the reception. I am still going to Analog channels to watch TV, but won't have that option soon! So far this new TV has been a waste of money and very frustrtating! Thanks

Answer:
You need a better antenna. The antenna you need depends on how strong the signals are at your house.Visit http://www.antennaweb.org . Based on your zip code, the site will suggest the proper antenna for your situation using a standard color code. Take that color code to some place that sells antennas.Personally, I would stay away from amplified antennas. In some cases they can actually prevent you from receiving channels. It's best to get an antenna good enough you don't need the amplifier.

Question : Problem using toshiba lcd tv as PC monitor?
Ok I can usually fix anything on a computer but this problem has me stumped after 3 hours of troubleshooting.I have a Nivida Geforce 8400 video card in my PC running windows XP SP3. The PC works fine on my other monitor boots up fine. Well I got a Toshiba 20HL85 model LCD TV screen. I think that model is discontinued on the website but I got it probably 2 or 3 years ago.I put the LCD TV in PC mode, pluged in the VGA cable from my PC/Video card to the LCD TV. Here's the strange problem. My computer boot up and start up shows up on the LCD TV and everything seems fine. After the normal Windows XP loading bar with black background for about 20 to 30 seconds the LCD TV just goes black as if nothing is pluged in with a "PC" in the lower right corner denoting it's on the PC video setting (basically as if I unplugged it).I've plugged it back into my other monitor and fooled around with the resolutions and acceleration settings. I've checked and fooled around with my video card driver and it's settings. Nothing.I consulted the LCD TV manual and there's nothing with this issue in it.I can't find any drivers that I need.Is there anyone who has heard of this issue or knows what to check that I missed? This is the key thing....After windows boots, the LCD TV goes blank and stays there as if nothing is plugged into it when it is powered on.I have A+ cert and have been fixing computers since I was 12 so I'm not a newb at this stuff. My guess is that it's the video card because I was able to get into safe mode and use safe mode on the LCD TVso far only safe mode and VGA mode works on the LCD TV but goes blank after normal boot up.I've tried it with refresh rate at 60hz as well... no luck.

Answer:
Simple. Your Windows is set to run at a resolution too high for your LCD TV to handle. When an LCD TV encounters a resolution too high for it to display, it displays nothing. That is why it works in safe mode and you can see the bootup screens, when the video signal from your PC is still at a lower resolution your LCD TV can display. Once it boots into normal-mode Windows, it uses the resolution you set it at, which is too high and refuses to work. You need to re-connect your PC to the last monitor that worked, drop the resolution down to something lower, then reconnect your TV.Oh, and you really should be using a DVI-to-HDMI cable instead of VGA.

Question : What is the difference between Dell & Toshiba LCD TV's?
I have narrowed down my tv search to a Toshiba 37" LCD for $565 and a Dell 32" for $360 (both are used, thats why the good price) Assuming both work perfectly, anyone have any opinion on which brand would be better? I have little knowledge about TV's. Thanks for your help in advance!

Answer:
The difference is in QUALITY. Toshiba is a quality LCD. Dell is pretty much a third tier or junk TV. "Cheap" and "quality" are mutually exclusive. If your choice is between these 2, get the Toshiba!!! Buying a used TV is dicey, but that isn't your question.

Question : How to adjust tint on toshiba lcd tv?
How to adjust tint on toshiba lcd tv?I want to watch a 3d movie I bought for my daughter, to get the settings right on the picture you need to adjust the "tint" to get the perfect picture, otherwise its just blared and not "3d"However when I go to the settings, where it says brightness, colour, contrast etc there is a tint option but its "greyed out" as if not available, can anyone help! ASAP!! 10 POINTS AND A BIG THANKS FROM MY 4YR OLD TO ANYONE WHO CAN DO IT!!!ps its not a 3d tv, we have the glasses to enable us to watch the movie, the 3d glasses, but its blared a little, so the instructions on the dvd box say we need to adjust the "tint" to view it better.

Answer:
Journey to the centre of the earth in 3D. You should not have to adjust the tint, just use regular settings, 3D movies are generally blurry and not perfect. I watched this one last week and it takes a while to get used to it, in fact I remember feeling a little motion sickness at various points during the movie, but it was a riot !P.S. There are two versions of most 3D movies on the disc, make sure you are watching the 3D option.

Question : Need help choosing a 32"lcd tv, the Toshiba 32AV502R or the VizioVO320E. Which is better in terms of hardware?
I don't want answers based off of "brand image". I've just been trying to figure out which one has more features and offers more performance but they seem pretty neck to neck. I can get the Toshiba for about 30 dollars less than the Vizio.

Answer:
Between the two the Toshiba is a much better tv. Vizio is a cheap brand and made in China, they also have a none responsive customer service center if you have any problems you want answers for. If you can look at the Panasonic or Samsung they are a bit better. Hope this will help you out.

Question : Which is better a Toshiba or a LG LCD Tv?
I'm getting a new TV for Christmas, so far it's a choice between a 32" Toshiba LCD Tv or a 32" LG Tv and I can't decide which. Can anyone tell me which one they think is better?

Answer:
Toshiba, definatly. I work with large screen TVs on a daily basis, Toshiba have a far better image, and far better customer support. LG used to be quality TVs, but these days are becoming more and more like cheap crap. Avoid if possible.

Question : Toshiba LCD TV?
Has anyone ever had a Toshiba LCD TV or know anything about them? Specifically, model number 42HL67 ...... We were looking to buy one, but I'd like to know what everyone thinks about them and if they've had any problems with them. Thanks :)

Answer:
I do not own one, but I have repaired a couple. They are a very well built set, and parts are very easy to get from Toshiba. We have sold lots of these sets, the sets I have repaired were not any we sold. These were from one of the big box retailers, whose sets are not as high end as what a dealer can get. When I say dealer, I mean as a Toshiba Authorized Dealer, we get the cream of the crop. Our prices are a bit higher, but so is the level of service you get. Not to mention the level of the product's quality.

Question : can a Toshiba LCD TV model no.20HIV86 work with interlace or progressive mode when i put a hdmi for the PS3?
when i put the hdmi. i want it to go to interlace if it can with0ut daming my tv or will it only go on progressive mode. whith an hdmi cable for ps3

Answer:
Your set will no doubt accept either interlace or progressive forms. However, the display is always progressive in an LCD TV. If the source signal is interlaced, the set will de-interlace it for display. There is no way to damage your TV as a result of input format selection.
