Awesome but deadly
I purchased this set on sale at Sears and they even price matched it to the price that CompUSA was selling it at. I got a great deal on it. I took it home hooked it all up and ran into trouble right away with my HD Cable box. I live in the Tampa, Florida area and have Brighthouse networks cable. They use a Scientific Atlanta Exploreer 8300HDC HD DVR box. I could operate the cable box with the cable company remote with no problem. As soon as I would turn on the Toshiba LCD, the remote would no longer work. Turn the TV off and the remote worked just fine. I went through 3 different cable boxes with Brighthouse networks. I then had a Sears repair tech come out to check the TV and make sure nothing was wrong with it. Upon inspection he decided to call Toshiba directly and see what was going on. Toshiba admitted to having a problem with this model of cable box and they did not know what was causing the interference at this time. Their recommendation was to check with Brighthouse to see if they had a different brand of cable box. If they did not, then they (Toshiba) recommended returning the TV for a brand other than Toshiba.
So Brighthouse did not have a different brand which led to me returning the TV. I did this with great hesitation as the Toshiba had an excellent picture and sound. I really loved the TV and the features it had. I just wish it would have worked with my cable box.
I returned the TV with no problem and purchased a Sharp Aquos LC-46D65U. I set that TV up with no problem and there are no interference issues.
So like I said in the title, awesome TV but can be deadly to your cable box.

Won't last.
I, too, was thrilled with this television when I first received it. It has been a pleasure to use in my kitchen, until recently. First, it decided that sometimes it would play a disc and another time it would say it was an "incorrect disc." Now it has chosen to eliminate channels, willy nilly. Channel scan just shows every number from 2 to 69, except for the local channels we've been watching for the 2 years we've had it. Toshiba cusomer service knows less about the TV than I do.... so, it will get 1 star from me. Such a product, at such a price should last more than 2 years in my opinion.

Fabulous
What a pleasure this TV is. Plug it in (on cable) and you have an immediate response-great color and clarity, for both the TV and DVD functions.

Great little TV
I found the previous reviews very helpful when trying to decide whether to buy this TV or not. I received it this week and I am extremely happy with it. The size is great. Many of the 15" TV's are bigger. The picture is very clear and sharp, the sound good. One of the problems that previous reviews mentioned was that the sound was not loud enough in the DVD mode. I do not find this true. Like all my other DVD players and TV's you have to turn the sound up a couple of notches when in the DVD mode, but I have no problem hearing it. One thing that I especially liked was that the power cord plugs directly into the wall socket. You do not have to use one of those bulky power supply converters that come with most LCD TV's. I bought this TV to use in my motor home and it is great. The cabinet size is small, no bigger than my original LCD TV, just a little thicker. It weighs very little, so is easy to move around and store. The picture and sound are good in both TV and DVD mode. All in all, it is a great little TV for the price. I would highly recommend it.

I love this little tv
It's perfect for the bedroom, kids room, kitchen, or an small area. The volume is just fine. I don't know what these people posting single star reviews are talking about. I have no complaints on this television. If I do, I'll update this review.

Questions & Answers
Question : what should i buy, samsung la40r81 or toshiba 42a3500 lcd tv?
i was looking for an lcd tv and i narrowed my search to these two models, but i'm really confused now, which one is better?
Answer:
Definitely buy the samsung. Samsung is a highly regarded tv company. Also their sets look absolutely amazing....in terms of picture and just the way they're physically built. Also with more hdmi ports you can plug more hd stuff into your tv such as a blueray player, your cable box, a ps3/xbox 360 or hd video camera. The hidden speakers also add a certain wow factor. Overall i'd say that the samsung set is top.....Oh and don't worry bout the difference in size being a big factor...with tvs they measure diagonally and seriously...a couple of inches makes like no difference when the tv is that big...like you really can't tell at all.anyways...thats my little blurb.good luck! ;)

Question : How do I reset my Toshiba LCD TV, the model is 19w330db?
When I turn the TV on there is just a blank blue screen. The owners manual says to select "menu" and then scroll down until you see the option to "reset" but when I press menu I cannot find anything that says about resetting. It seems to me that the menu I can view is not the menu you should be able to choose from if the TV was working properly. The owners manual also says about a menu only appearing when you first switch on the TV, this is the menu I can't seem to get.
Answer:
This Blank Blue screen is caused by LACK OF SIGNAL to the INPUT you have selected.....When you have it set to tuner, IF you are on Cable and are above channel 13....you have incorrectly accessed the Air/Uhf tuning and you need to set it to CABLEAnd there's ususally TWO ANTENNA CONNECTORS....One for AIR reception and one for CABLE reception...And the units with ONE connector...they have an Autoprogram mode with the choice of AIR or CABLE....Wrong input or Wrong Type of Tuner reception and the BLUE SCREEN comes on when there is no signal....SO.....you should check your antenna wire first and put it in the CABLE connector if you have 2 Antenna jacks (IF YOU HAVE CABLE or Satellite)Then pull out your instruction manual and read about how to set up your TV set....Sure, it may take an hour to read it, while walking thru the setup, but it's CHEAPER than getting a TV tech out to your home to do the setup....What is it now, $55 for in-home setup or $85 ??But that's your next choice....You don't need to RESET your TV, that reset just recenters your Video settings, like color contrast brightness....That's NOT your problem...Your problem is NO Signal to process, because you're off channel, off cable/air or your using a video input that has the device not connected or the device is turned off and not providing a video signal.....

I just moved from Europe and i just got my Toshiba LCD 26 inch TV, i got my PS2 from Bangladesh so i assume its NTSC. The problem is when i connect my PS2 to the TV, the display is black and white and the screen is displaced (not centered). Is there someone who can help me with this problem? Would i need to buy a adapter or some other cable. It is also moddedAnd i use the red yellow and white cables, the sound comes out fine just the video is black and white
Answer:
Bangladesh is PAL, not NTSC-that's why it won't work.

Question : can a Toshiba LCD TV model no.20HIV86 work with interlace or progressive mode when i put a hdmi for the PS3?
when i put the hdmi. i want it to go to interlace if it can with0ut daming my tv or will it only go on progressive mode. whith an hdmi cable for ps3
Answer:
Your set will no doubt accept either interlace or progressive forms. However, the display is always progressive in an LCD TV. If the source signal is interlaced, the set will de-interlace it for display. There is no way to damage your TV as a result of input format selection.

Question : i have a Toshiba LCD TV that has a TV guide fetcher . it does not recognize my cable box?
i hooked up the g cable and followed all the on screen instructions but it wont acept my scintifac atlanta box. any sugestions?
Answer:
This is a common problem, the cable box and the cable company enter into an agreement with a provider to supply the TV Guide menu. Even though your TV is capable of getting this guide, without the cable company providing the link to the guide, you can't get it. Samsung TV (many of the new ones) are capable of taking the signal directly from the cable (omitting) the cable box and provide your signal, and maybe the guide if the cable company has it as part of their programming. This may be the case for your Toshiba too. There might be a bonus for you when you skip the cable box. Sometimes the TV will pick up premium channels that you are not subscribed to because the box is what is blocking them.Good luck

Question : Need help choosing a 32"lcd tv, the Toshiba 32AV502R or the VizioVO320E. Which is better in terms of hardware?
I don't want answers based off of "brand image". I've just been trying to figure out which one has more features and offers more performance but they seem pretty neck to neck. I can get the Toshiba for about 30 dollars less than the Vizio.
Answer:
Between the two the Toshiba is a much better tv. Vizio is a cheap brand and made in China, they also have a none responsive customer service center if you have any problems you want answers for. If you can look at the Panasonic or Samsung they are a bit better. Hope this will help you out.

Question : How good are the toshiba LCD tv's?
Going to buy my mom a 37" or 42" 720p tv. Not so much worried about the best pic quality, but i don't want some tv like vizio or westinghouse that will break in a year. Toshiba is in between is a little cheaper than most high end brands, and for the most part it seems that people have had good experiences w/ them. What do you think?
Answer:
I have one, its awesome!
